You mean it’s not just a discount commander tag?

It is without the squad option. But it can also be much more than that..

Oh i forgot a few things.

If you wish to spend a few hours in game very “casually” you could explore all the places where the meta zone bosses show up and do all of them on a daily basis. Its not too hard, but its fun and you get rewards from it.

And if you wish to spend all day long for a week you could explore all the mini dungeons and jumping puzzles hidden away from the points of interest and vistas and hearts.

The point is. This game isn’t a typical mmorpg with a typical “end game”. You are free to do something from many things that the game has to offer and play it in many different ways.

Currently (if we aren’t mentioning wintersday achievements) I made a brand new norn guardian that i will lvl up in a particular way that is veery different from anything ive seen or heard of.

Basically i made up a set of rules that i need to follow (cant use TP,can only lvl up in shiverpeak zones and must not die till lvl 80) This sounds fairly raw and simple but it is astonishing how it impacted my overall gameplay. At first it was simple, gs/staff, blaze trough the enemies. But at around lvl 30 the mobs got to my lvl, and suddenly some of them were above my level. I switched to more defensive weapons and skills and also sought out for more defensive armor stats.

Hi.

Seems like at this point a lot of people have the mentor tag, and that’s good.
I also don’t have anything against people popping out their mentor tag during zone events like tequatl or something.

But i was thinking of asking all of you nice people out there with the mentor tags to occasionally use it as it was “ment to be used”

So next time you are in a city and you feel like it, pop the tag and declare in map chat that if anyone has some questions about the game they can freely ask.

I understand the restrictions of f2p players, they cant mail or whisper unless you added them on friends list as well. So mention they can come near you (in game) and use /say chat.

Anyway…this is just a idea i had. I will be doing this since i enjoy interacting with players.

- personal story gives you a fair exploration of the world and a special weapon at the end

- living world, if you havent already, you need to unlock the LS2 in order to play trough it. This takes you trough some new maps and shows you a new massive skritt jumping puzzle, new stat sets (if you want them), the ability to create mawdrey and a few other nice things
- hoT- you play in the latest ,newest zones, you progress trough your masteries that allow you to explore new corners of the zones. This is a great thing if youre into pve, events with harder mobs than in the core game, and you simply wish to explore new stuff. (comes with lots of new different rewards)
-Legendary Weapon Grind- You will have to 100% map complete the core world, or start the precursor crafting mastery if you wish to go for the new legendaries. While its a grind, it can be pretty fun
- World Completion- you do it for the original legendaries, or just for fun
- Dungeons- you can still make a nice amount of gold if you do these on a regular basis. You get tokens for special craftings, or just spend them on weapon/armor skins you wish to combine and make your armor set a more “unique” look
- Fracs-This is considered to be a progressive challenge where gear, skill, and knowledge of the instances matter. One could say this is (besides the new super hard raids) the end game pve. It has gear grind (ascended with AR infusions), it scales with difficulty, and has its own unique rewards not available anywhere else (skins, and even a back piece)

New Level 80 - Best Approach to Better Gear?

ill answer your “how to get exotic gear” question, after which ill answer your “what part of the game should i play next”.

1) Where to get exotic gear

First you should ask your self what exotic gear stats do you need.
But lets say you need a basic set of zerker armor ,here are your options

1)Karma armor in orr, 42k karma/piece
They come in a few different stats so check http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Temple_armor where the specific npc with your stat type is located. There are also exotic trinkets available.

2)WvW Badges armor in any borderlands.

These are sold for a small amount of gold +wvw badges. Look for a armorsmith in your starting area outpost. Note that the armor npc offers different armor that scales with your level and exotic stuff come only after lvl 80.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Armor_Master

3) Crafted exotic armor
You could invest your materials and gold to raise your armor crafting up to 400 in order to craft your own exotic armor set. They can also be bought from the trading post and getting it that way might be much cheaper.

Search for Draconic (heavy), Emblazoned (Medium) and Exalted (light) for crafted exotics.

NOTE: There are also lvl 80 exotic gear that comes from mobs and drops, sometimes they are cheaper than the crafted ones even tho they have the same stats (mob droped exotics also come with a superior rune) so be sure to check prices.

4) Ascended trinkets

Sometimes buying specific exotic trinkets can be expensive. You might wish to buy ascended trinkets instead.

However you should know that there are several different ways to get the same pieces, and you can potentially save time ,gold and laurels.

My suggestion:
-2 rings from guild commendation NPC (participate in your guild missions to get commendations (costs 10gold and 24 commendations. You save 80 Laurels and 100ectos)
-1 amulet form wvw laurel vendor (costs 250 badges and 20 laurels. You save 10 laurels)
-2 accessories from wvw laurel vendor (total cost 500badges and 50 laurels. You save 20 laurels

NOTE: You cant use 2 identical ascended trinkets at the same time. You cant use 2 royal signets.
NOTE: Ascended gear is account bound. You can put it in bank and use it on other chars.

“I wish i could use racial skills”

I'm back! Lets talk about the tp [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

ok, here is the explenation i can give you cause this sometimes happends to me as well.

Lets say you want to buy 100 iron ores for 50 silver
You search the tp for iron ores, and you see the top offer has 200 iron ores listed for 50 silver.

you ofc click to instantly buy and normally you would spend the money and get the 100 iron ores.

HOWEVER sometimes during the time between you clicking on the iron ore to check the prices, and the time you actually pres instant buy, another person in the world clicks instant buy before you.

what happends is that the 200 ores that were on YOUR screen are now actually less, like 50 ores.

You STILL SEE 200 iron ores on YOUR screen when YOU click buy but you only get to buy the 50 ores for the price they were selling.

And then what happends is you get 50 iron ores but also gold you didnt spend on the other 50 ores you wanted , cause there weren’t any for that particular price anymore.

You can test this out by opening a item on tp that has a very low quantity and waiting a minute with the prices open and then trying to buy it. You will most likely get a error showing up saying that the prices are wrong or something, after which your price and quantity lists will update.

at first i made a human guardian (waaay before hot and dh) so i can interact with allies around me as well as npcs (via heals and protective utility)

I also enjoyed the feeling of healing, even tho its not that great.

Lately i made a new Norn guardian cause of :
-Blue racial skills
-tallest character model = Largest weapons in the game
-im doing a made up challenge in the shiverpeak zones only and being a guardian helps
-im working on getting all the spirit weapons, and a guardian can use all of them

Im not gonna mention dragon hunters..i didnt make a guardian so i can become dh

Mob bonus exp

Mobs that stay longer alive in the world grant bonus exp.

My question is how long does it take for a mob to get to a point of giving out max amount of bonus exp?

from the time the mob spawns till the time it gives max amount of bonus exp,how long does it take?

Edit:

so after killing a far far away hidden mob it gave me 40 bonus exp.
i returned 10 mintes later and it gave me 10 bonus exp.

While i understand higher lvl mobs will grant me more, but if the bonus xp scales with time and level and amount… the result should be that it takes 40 minutes to take a mob to grant max amount of bonus kill exp

Being a simple “tank” doesn’t cut it in pvp.

You need lots of sustain and the ability to hold your point yes. But if you are no threat to anyone in the opposite team they will completely ignore you.

You will sit in your point while your team is fighting a 4v5 battle for the other 2 points..

LF "social" guild

in Looking for...

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

Hi.

I’m looking for a guild, small or large (as long as it is active) that focuses more on the social aspect of the mmo. Chatting, getting to know each other, making friends, playing together rather than soloing up everything…

Having daily/weekly schedule with guild organized events like pvp nights, wvw nights, dungeon nights, fractals nights, raid nights, guild missions etc (doesn’t have to be during nights…)

Would be also cool if the guild had a place where they can hang out like waypoint in LA where everyone form the guild can check if there’s anyone there and they can group up and do things together. (not necessary roll playing, just a place where guildies can go to when they are bored and chat or party up and go do things)

And yes i understand this can also be done with guild halls.

Perhaps teamspeak or something similar so the communication is on a higher level between the players (and it just makes things faster and easier during combat)

A little bit about me:

I’ve been playing gw2 since a month after launch and i have well geared lvl 80 warrior, guardian, mesmer, necro, ele.

I do have HoT unlocked but o haven’t played it very much. I don’t have any fully unlocked elite specializations either.

I’m from Europe (GTM+1) and playing on Gandara server, so i guess guilds that are made on Gandara would be preferred because of the availability of wvw.

I consider my self as a semi-casual. Meaning i go with the flow. One day i will be focusing on lvling a alt all day, the other day i will be trying to do a full dungeon run on all dungeons, and sometimes i just spend the entire weekend on the wvw borderlands.

PS: Tho it would be awesome if a guild contacts me that has all the “requirements” i just mentioned, the biggest thing im looking for is the social aspect. Communication, grouping, doing things together (schedules makes thing simple and more efficient in my experience).

If you think you know of a guild that offers these things or if you are in one please leave a reply and tell me about the guild.

Thank you

while guardians have some nice aoe healing they can give around them selfs i think the best use for all of their healing skills as well as weapon skills are best if used on self.

That being said you end up having a super tanky and a super sustainable heavy armored character.

I think i calculated an average of 1400hp/s when i was playing around with the web build editor with a “support” mace/shield staff guardian

what i dont like about gw2 story lines (both hot, living story and zhaitan story) is when the story and the progression of the story is explained in a sudden random way….

instead of going around step by step and collecting data and information and talking with people and discussing about the story you get to suddenly hear your character commander declare things and move on like nothing happened…

Living story was ok, ls2 was good too..but hot story had a lot of wtf moments such as times where ritlock shows up and just dismisses all questions about his herald class and says “i was in the mists, its full of monsters and heroes and legends and i learned how to harness their power” the end. Thats all you get about it…

you get to visit rata novas, a city of ancient asura that had a lab learning about the dragons, they knew they all had a weakness but you get NOTHING out of it…→ until you meet traherne that ,again suddenly just says "ill let you in the dream (doesnt matter if youre not a sylvari…aparently all sylvari can let people in the dream like the pale mother did to caithe in the sylvari tutorial) and youll have to beat modremoth there…even tho you dont actually get to see him or anything..

and the end? again your character just declares "we killed modremoth, the end. whops there is a seed in traherne lets kill him too, good now its done….

about skill categorization

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

When i say category i mean skills that fit into a type such as signets, tricks, glyphs, shouts ect.

I remember when they wanted to add elite specialization they wanted to categorize all skills that didn’t had a defining category such as some healing skills, or guardians elite tomes.

There are few things i noticed today about this however…

1) Some skills got changed completely such as guardian tomes turned into a signet and a shout….i guess its done so they can fit into a proper category.

2) Some skills still dont have a category. Shelter, ether feast, mending… and revenant categories just go with “legendary xyz”… whats up with that? Or are they just too powerfull to be effected by traits and cd reduction? Wasnt that kinda “fixed” with increasing the skills cd? Thiefs withdraw skill was a 15s cd skills. Now it is 18s cd trick. Having the trick cd reduction its back to 14.50 sec cd

3) Shouts were originally (both in the original and gw2) skills that effected allies or foes in a wide area around of the player,it was instant cast and couldn’t be interupted.
Now while most old shouts still play out that way, some new shouts as well as shouts that got changed during this period of time got a casting time on them… from 0.25s up to over 2 second of casting time…

4) I thought someone mentioned the new elite specializations would get a new set of skills with a category the core profession didn’t had. But then Berzerker gets rage skills, Daredevils get physical skills that (some of them) dont really look or feel like a physical skill (throw dagers is a physical category? Use the skill to use it again a few times later? you mean like a mantra?, Scrappers get gyros and well..revenant gets legends.

Dont get me wrong, i dont have anything against any of the skills i just mentioned…i just noticed and wanted to point out that the skills weren’t categorized as they wanted it to be ( i assume that was the point of doing all the changes to the skills and elite specs at that point of time?) . Maybe im just overthinking it.

Zealot Gear price

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

Some stats are more popular than the others and its normal for them to get pricy.
Some exotics are crafted with hard to come by mats and it just pumps the price of the final product even more.

Also, there are base stats, and “newly added” stats. The newly added stats are often more popular and stronger in some way from the base stats in the game , that also makes the price of the gear even more pricy.

nothing wrong here

you cant buy the 2nd gen precursors form the tp.

and if i were you i would just wait till i see all the new legendary weapons and pick one i like the most ,or will be using the most as a weapon for my fav class.

Also, i think legendary armor is something i would love to work towards more than a weapon

So I hear tanking is a thing now.

in Guardian

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

i dont think people still understand what tanking means in gw raids…

Dont expect to run around the place, agro the entire room, position your self so that the mobs face you and not the rest of your party so they can burst aoe dps them while that single healer druid is healing you up…

Specially not during boss fights….

That being said, youll need quite more than some gear that gives you toughness and vitality..

revenant background?

in Revenant

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

u’r complaining about revenant’s background … but did we have background for any other classes ? XD

cause , for me, my character just learned how to “ele” at start and i have no background about it =p

We actually do have background story to how humans and other sentient beings on tyria learned magic from the original guild wars. A example i mentioned before was the Nolani academy where they were teaching magic to students.

Even the “new” guild wars 2 professions such as guardians have SOME lore other than " we just slapped monks and paragons together and bam→guardians"

In fact, its not just sentient beings who learned magic. Grawl, elementals, jotun, gargoyles, imps and other creatures learned magic. I also think wooden potatoes saying (tho i’m not sure if this is true..) that because of how magic “works” in the world even a random bunny could learn how to cast meteor showers….

How does DH fit thematicaly as archer in RP

in Guardian

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

Rangers would be a better choice to put in a “archer” role.

They have both longbow and shortbow (shortbow is more fun imo)
They also have traps, swords, torches and warhorns, even dagers, Leather armor that can also look “bulky” and “soldiery” with some more plate metal on them as well.

Dragon hunters can go with the archer role…but honestly the whole guardian/dragon hunter resonates with magic.
It has heavy armor ,something “standard” archers dont go with normally, it only uses longbow and its skills arent “physical” but more magical. Even the traps are very magical.

As for race (speaking about ranger profession now) this is how i look at them:

Sylvari has a more nature like feel to it, can be close to nature spirits, and some specific pets. They also have 4 “sylvari” armor sets that can also be mixed around if you wish to have 1 armor set for each different type of build.

Charr has some very good medium ranger/archer cultural armor. The Charr archer would be more into a soldier like archer. Their pets should be more vicious and bulky, like a drake, or a devourer. Some of their racial skills offer even more of that “soldier/legion” feel.

Norn rangers have feel more like hunters. Just look into the norn hunter lore and youll see what i mean.

1 more note to know is that charr and norn offer the tallest and largest character model. Meaning their weapons will also be visually enhanced

PS: Some time ago i made a decision to make a very tall norn guardian with the following roleplay/challenge:
-Will only play in shiverpeak zones from lvl 1-80, and have only 1 life
-The goal is to get to lvl 80 and kill the claw of jormag
-At that time my norn will become a dragon hunter (both thematically and mechanically)
-The next goal of my character is to forge a weapon strong enough to break jormags tooth held in the great lodge in hoelbrak.
-The weapon i need to forge wont be a legendary weapon, but instead spirit weapons (the one my guardian can summon)
-I will prove to everyone of my legend i will show off the ghostly forger back piece i get from crafting all the spirit weapons

(edited by Vukorep.3081)

Are Dragonhunters viable for raids?

in Guardian

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

TLTL: Check the raids mechanics and be ready to fill up multiple roles when they appear in front of you. Expect changing out your weapons and skills, and perhaps even traits and gear several times to be efficient in raids.

While the raids are pretty new atm, and people are still trying out different things people are speculating a Raid Squad of about 2-3condi, 5-6 zerker 1 tanky and 1 support/healer group should work pretty well and be balanced.

That being said ,you should look at the raids mechanics. Some require lots of condies, some tons of dps, aoe healing is nice considering the damage the whole squad is getting constantly cant be kept up with someones self healing skill.

Also some parts require soft cc, immobilize ,cripple, chill. Even something very specific such as sylvari mesmers that can mimic their grasping vines racial skill can be extremely helpful on the final boss.

Communication and preparation with your raid squad is important as well. Specially with pugs. 10 random players cant just all take whatever they feel like and stick with the same build from start to end.

Also expect to fail, and try again and again and again and you will eventually push further and further down the path

Good luck

revenant background?

in Revenant

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

but thats the problem… If Rytlock HAD to go to the mists to meet the monsters, heroes and legends in order to learn how to harness their power then other revenants had to do the same…its not a spell that can be thought from 1 individual to another like they do in schools (nolani academy comes to mind)

And nobody even mentions “ritualists” pre hot.
Also Ritualists from cantha 250 years ago used a separate type of magic that looked like it had nothing to do with the magic everyone else was using at that time . As in (i think) they could channel spirits and use the ashes of their ancestors waaay before magic was even introduced to the races.

All in all, so far listening to the npcs talking about Rytlock all sounds bland… and dodgy.
Like, they ask rytlock directly how he became what he became and he avoids the question all the time. And when the npcs comment about it among them selfs its like :
“idk man, but it works, doesn’t rly matter right?”

Core Warrior Advices

in Warrior

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

When people ask advices i always show http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/ this web page.
A person can learn a lot about what his class is capable off and how far it can go in one direction as well as how balanced the class can be.

While im not going to give you builds that you should strictly follow (you should make up some of your self) i will give you some tips and tricks as well as tell you about some warriors “mechanics”

1)The class it self is overall raw, rigid, simple and relies on some very strong passive abilities that no other class has. Things like having the highest health and armor in the game at the same time, very good self “passive” regen. However the raw and rigid also applies to almost all of your weapon and most utility skills. What i mean is that most skills dont change much in the enviroment, they dont leave a combo fields for other players to interact with, they dont grant boons to your self or others either.

2) Healing signet is the best skill you have when it comes to raw healing power with the right set up. However this doesn’t mean it will keep you alive all the time.
The skill gives you a extremely strong regeneration, and combined with adrenal healing trait it can be a extreme good thing for your survivability. If you THINK you are under pressure and need to activate the skill, simply back off from the danger for a few seconds and you will get your health back fairly quickly.

3)Banners help a lot in group fights. If you are within a group of players that is fighting a champion make sure you have at least 1 banner. You should also the ability to grant Fury buff to everyone with the banner of discipline whenever you can.
If the battle is long and in a small area such as silverwaste fort defense you could also add the trait that grants traits regeneration for everyone.

4) Traits are fairly simple as well. While all classes have traits filed in such a way where 1 trait is specialized for raw dps, another for critical hits and conditions, the 3rd one is for pure defense, the 4th one is about utility and survivability and the 5th one is about enhancing your overall performance. That being said, most warrior traits enhance its raw and rigid skills with..well..more raw and rigid abilities.
Dmg weapons deal more dmg, cc weapons do more cc, pasive regen becomes more stronger, you can become faster in moving or have a shorter weapon swap cd… honestly the only trait that adds something extra is tactics and discipline.

5) As for tricks, there arent that many that a warrior can do considering its passive and raw and rigid nature…

6) The build i am using is a well balanced build (toughness and vitality) and heavy dmg, it uses defense, tactics and berserker traits and i am able to endure a ton of damage with greatsword – Sword/shield. Im also able to endure 2 one shot hits, and also able to use vengance 100% all the time

Question about ascended gear.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

its not 50g its much much more expensive than that considering you have to:

1) Get your specific armor crafting profession up to 500
2) Get the recipies for all 6 armor parts + the insignia for your prefered stat
3) Craft 1 ascended material needed to craft insignias and armor parts of each type that your specific armor type needs ONCE per day cause it is time gated(Deldrimor steel, elonian leather or damask silk)
4) If you wish to buy the ascended materials up front so you dont have to wait for weeks of crafting them, you will have to pay up some serious cash.

For a comparison, you will have to spend about 8 gold i think per day to craft a single Bolt of damask. Or you can buy it for 16g on the tp (not 100% sure on the prices but the ratio is there somewhere i think)

ArenaNet... personal damage meter ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

1) Do people even understand what “math-in-a-void” means or are they all just copy pasting it form nemesis 3 part video how zerker meta is a lie? Also have they actually watched and understood all 3 parts of his videos and the 3 hour long group stream he had with brazil and others?

2)Different mobs have different health bars as well as armor and hit boxes. Bloomhunger has light armor and large hitbox making icebow super effective ,while the shaman has a smaller hit box and stronger armor. Even with the “nerf” the icebow got (it cant be bugged out anymore so that all ice shards fall on the target regardless of the hitbox) the icebow is still a great thing to have if you want to burst a ton of dmg on the boss.

3)“We” dont need a damage meter cause “we” dont care about the few specific boss encounters that the elite people are trying to figure out whats the most 110% most optimal and most efficient profession/build/rotation/party set up to drop it dead…

4) There is not a single party/profession/build set up that can be the most optimal and efficient in all dungeon paths, all fractals, all up coming and future raids as well as all general pve content and there will never be one

5) The reason why the dmg people show off is wrong is cause again, its all situational. The same necro, warrior, engie ,ele or ranger can have 1 number shown on bloomhunger, another on mossman, and a 3rd one on shaman. And its perfectly fine cause all 3 encounters are very different from eachother

6) If nemesis would stop being so arrogant and full of him self, and stopped running in circles cause of his past issues with some other youtubers, and started “caring” for the community then he should start working on his " meta tier system" that he promised .
Where he will categorize different dungeons, fractals and raids into several different tiers.
Content in tier 1 would be done most efficiently with burst builds such as showering the boss with 4 icebows, hundread blades and time warps.
Content in tier 2 would be done most efficiently with high sustain damage such as conditions that tick even tho you got downed, or even tho the boss went stealth and the “raw” dmg professions have nothing to hit, loosing dps
Content in tier 3 would be done most efficiently with a well coordinated and balanced team and build set up. Why? Cause the content will have different mechanics and enviroment that will hinder people from doing the usual things they do in speed runs.
Examples: Stacking in a corner is punished with enviromental traps and ccs such as fears, pulls and knock ups. Cant use burst set ups cause the boss has super high armor, or becomes invincible every now and then. Cant go full condi set up cause the boss clenses him self often, or transfers his conditions to players

AND THE WORST PROBLEM IS: After 3 years, and after everyone has done dungeons and fractals sooooo many times with numerous different professions, people still havent learned that they should modify their builds depending on the situation youre about to face… And they need someone like nemesis to point that out, hold their hands and tell them what to do,what class, what gear and when and what skills to use on what boss…. its a tragedy

1) While all set ups are situational, there will always be the “best” build for dungeon speed clears. And while they wont do as much dps as they are being “sold” to the comunity those builds are still the ones that hit the hardest and fastest and are the best when it comes to speed clears. Again, its all situational, and a burst meta build might not work so well on a enemy that stealth’s every now and then and spikes a player into downed state.

2) There is already elitism in the game. Have you ever been kicked out from a dungeon just cause youre not playing the most optimal build/profession that is needed for the dungeon speed clear? Yes you can create your own non speed clear dungeon party, but elitists don’t play “casual” runs…they go for speed clears, dont mix those 2 up

3) I will be refering again to the first thing i mentioned here. There will always be the best and most optimal build and party set up for content. The problem is, metabattle and dumb elitist think that 1 build and 1 setup can be the best and most optimal for ALL content, ALL dungeons, ALL fractals and in the future, ALL raid paths and encounters.
This is simply not true and will never be true. People need to learn to adapt their personal skill level, character build and gear with the content they are facing.
My guardian has bane signet, smite conditions and stand your ground.. but if im about to face a dungeon with plenty of deadly ranged mobs i WILL use wall of reflection.

Gems and Gold (and Time)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Vukorep.3081

I never bough gems with my money, tho i have exchanged my gold for gems numerous times before. I also considered buying gems and turning them into gold…and the amount of money i had to spend in order to get the gold i wanted (at that time) was scary… Cause i knew i could make the gold within a week of “my type of casual playing”.

That being said this is how i make gold:

1)Dungeons, i still do dungeon now and then, perhaps not full dungeon runs like ages ago but 1-3 dungeons every now and then is fun for me. Also i found my self wanting to do as much dungeons possible every day to get empyrial shards

2) Leveling alts. Yes.. after 3 years i sill lvl alts, a new combination of race and profession that i never got to lvl80 and enjoy the theme that i came up with. This is fun for me, and i manage to get a few gold per day by simply leveling a alt

3) Zone boss events. I dont really “farm” them anymore but they still throw in a gold or two on a daily bases

4) Guild missions. Tho only once per week, they do give lots of money in my pocket

5) “Flipping” items on TP. Buy low ,sell high. I spend about a total of 10-15 minutes trough the day on tp, setting up buy orders and placing items on sale. And i do this with only a handfull items that i know will sell. This allows me to spend minimal time staring on tp, and most time playing the actual game, leveling a alt or whatever i feel like. Ocassionaly i visit a city to get supplies, kits, tools, store stuff in my bank, and put the newly bought items on sale.

6) Other situattional methods: This i will keep a secret, but you have to have a eye for details and think “outside the box” in order to find something that can be turned into profit extremely fast and effortlessly. Tho most of this things that i personally do is situattional and cant be done all day long, when i am able to do it i normally earn from 4-60g in a hour without actually doing anything. I normally check every now and then for these situations and if i feel like it i do them.

7) Farming , Train runs and others. This i never actually do. Tho it is profitable i just always find something else to do thats more fun for me.

Saying all this, i never ever had any problems with money. On the other hand i am a pretty patient person…so if im missing materials for my ascended armor i wont buy them off from the tp , instead i will buy order some that i need at a cheaper price so i can craft the gated materials later. Theres plenty of ways to save money.

Diamond Skin Counters Complete Builds

it doesn’t make condition based opponents completely useless…

1) Elementalists usually have low health to begin with, even at “medium” health pool of 17k the condition based opponent needs to deal 1700 dmg before he can apply conditions on you

2) Even if you heal back to +90% health, the conditions that were on you from before do not disappear…they still deal dmg on you

3) You are “sacrificing” 1 trait slot into earth magic to get this trait, and it also competes with Stone Heart grandmaster trait which essentially counters crit burst builds.

4) A ele has numerous ways of condi clensing, Ether Renewal would be the best option

An interesting challenge. I would have thought that you would say that you can only be norn and you can do the personal stories that take place in the Shiverpeaks (since those only go up to level 20 or so, higher if you choose Durmand Priory

Well yeah that would be nice, but the “theme” of the challenge is to fight your way trough the shiverpeak mountains ,to make your self stronger in those zones only ,get your self to lvl 80 and defeat the Claw of Jormag. Not to go “side questing” with your personal story.

And like i said, that would make a disadvantage to other races considering they cant get the exp you would get form personal story as they don’t have the missions in the shiverpeaks.

Intereting. If I wasn’t doing so much in HoT I’d consider doing it; maybe some time in the future.

Consider it perhaps when you wish to level another character, or another class, could be more interesting than the usual speed leveling . Or just a “side” project you do when you want to do something different.

The iron man Shiverpeak challenge

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

This a challenge i made up and so far im having a blast doing it.
For all those who are bored of dungeon running, fractals, or just think they have nothing to do till raids show up, or would love to level a new character/profession but get bored of it cause they already went trough leveling so many times…-> try this out.

The goal: Explore all the shiverpeak zones, get to lvl 80 and kill the Claw of Jormag

-To prove you did this the legit way, you will need to take a screenshot at the moment you get a 100% zone completion showing your level, /death count and the 100% zone completion reward window (or the mail you get once you finished it)

Rules:
1) You must create a new character for this challenge

2) You only have 1 life. NO EXCEPTIONS AND EXCUSES. If your death counter shows anything but 0 deaths then you are disqualified from the challenge. (Type /deaths to check your death count)

3) You are only allowed to explore the Shiverpeak zones and the main cities
(You may also explore guild halls and the pvp lobby)

4) You may enter Sorrows embrace and Honor of the waves dungeons for extra exp, but beware it may result in death. HOWEVER, doing the dungeons with your main, and switching to your challenger character just to take the final boss reward is NOT allowed!!!)

5) You may not use any items from bank,or your other characters except inventory bags, permanent kits and tools. (No boosters)

6) You are not allowed to buy any item from the trading post, but you can sell items to the tp

7) You may use your account gold, and karma to buy things from npcs. (Weapons, armor, food, karma gear and trinkets

8) You may band up with other people around you, friends or other challengers but you may not receive any items from anyone such as food or gear.

9) You may finish any daily achievements that you can do within the shiverpeak region in order to get a writ of experience and other rewards. ( You may finish the other achievements with another character but you are not allowed to send the writs to the challenger character)

10) You finish the challenge when you kill the Claw of Jormag as a lvl 80 character that has 100% exploration on all Shiverpeak zones (You must lvl to 80 first, then kill Claw of Jormag.

11) You may only craft 1 back pack item from 1 crafting profession (The starting low lvl one). Nothing else, not even upgrading essences of luck

12) You may not do personal story missions. This gives Norns a advantage over other races since only Norn have personal story take place in the shiverpeaks.

HELPFUL TIPS:
1)Karma vendors sell nice green gear often having runes on them

2)Check various npcs, both inside cities and out in the world. Some of them might have interesting items as well as food that will give you bonus exp boost

3)Explore all the cities first, this will bring you from lvl 2 to lvl 9.3. This makes it a nice start and it will help you go trough the first lvl 1-15 zone faster.

4)Don’t be afraid to ask around for events, every exp point matters and counts. If you try to speed clear the zone you will be eventually under leveled and will have a really hard time continuing the leveling.

5)Kill underwater, “offroad” mobs and neutral mobs. People tend to ignore those and the longer the mob is “living” in the world the bigger exp bonus it offers when it is killed. (A Baracuda gives 17 exp and +46 bonus exp because it has been ignored by other players)

6)Frequently check karma vendors for gear

7)Don’t be afraid to use defensive stats and weapon skills such as a warriors shield, or a elementalists focus. This is not about dps, its about having only 1 life and a long journey ahead of yourself. Having a 3second block of a invulnerability or a skill that can stealth you or flash you away from harms way might save your one and only life.

8)Some jumping puzzles are extremely dangerous. You are not required to do them.
However you are required to do vistas… and some of them can be dangerous as well. Pay attention and take it slow and easy.

9)Before you log out make sure your character is in a safe spot. It can be frustrating to log in back into the game only to see your self in the middle of a meta event getting downed in few seconds

Not sure your example really helps your case though because it is the BEST case scenario skill for a direct damage ele with some condi dmg. Its also not a skill we use very often for damage (normally used as an initial opening blast finisher to get might off of a lava font at the start of a fight… then you rarely use it again if at all during the fight). The vast majority of staff damage (at LEAST 80% of the total damage) comes from lava font, fireball and meteor shower. So while condi-damage can produce overall better dps on specific abilities, when taking the actual rotations of direct damage staff into consideration, those abilities are basically a rounding error in the total damage of a fight.

1) I picked the skill at random really, it was the first thing that came to my mind when i was looking for a skill to use as a example. I could have used flame strike, or flame burst, or stone shards..any skill that has both raw dmg and condition dmg on them.

2) I’m fully aware the “normal” use of eruption, however i said numerous times in my replies and original post is that the whole post was not about showing how condition dmg skills can be used in a rotation efficiently and turn out with a better dps with a few hundreds of condition damage stats on your gear.

3)Again, this isn’t about rotations, dps, min/maxing or optimizing a build, its about me showing how the Condition damage stat effects skills with conditions on them compared to how power stat effects all other skills (including the skills with conditions on them).

4) Please read my conclusion on the original post, i think it sums up pretty much everything that’s been thrown at me since i started this thread…

I surely miss something, but meteor shower has only 3 targets now instead of five ?

What do you mean instead of 5? Not all aoes hit 5 targets, not all cleaving cleaves for 3 targets, and not all melee weapons hit 3 targets.

As for meteor shower ,it was already mentioned.
You bring down 24 meteors and each individual meteor will hit up to 3 targets when it falls down.

First of all, i would like to say that having a lvl 80 character with rare/exotic or ascended gear that is tailored for a specific build gives the player much more overall damage and survivability.
As for your questions

1) Necromancers have the highest base health pool posible in the game (along with warriors) on top of that they also have about 13-14k health in death shroud that is constantly “healing”. Elementalists have the lowest base health pool in the game along with guardians and thieves.
Thieves have dodges, stealth and mobility, guardians have regen, blocks and heavy armor. Elementalists d/d have a ton of mobility, and are able to sustain them self with lots of self healing, cc, and the ability to grant them selfs auras and protection boons.
Something to note is that you shouldnt play d/d ele like a necro…it should be plaid as a d/d ele. Dont jump in a fight and try to spam whatever skills are on cool down until one of you is dead… go in, burst him, disengage if needed, apply pressure with conditions, reengage, interupt him with a knock up during his healing.
Pay attention to your opponent.
Also…dont be afraid to fail. Each fight you will learn the strengths and weaknesses of other classes as well as your own weakness. You will also be able to tell if 13k health for you is enough or if you need 3k more. Feel free to try out different gear and builds.

Or just..copy paste something from the web and hope you like it enough to learn to play with such a build.

2) Staff Ele has a ok “single” target dmg, its just that the auto attacks are slow and other skills are more oriented for large aoe groups of mobs.

Staff=heavy dmg, lots of aoe long range
Scepter= Sustained dmg, has lots of utility, good for condition dmg, medium range
daggers= fast paced short range various kind of dmg with a bit of utility
Focus= Defensive skills and utility skills mostly

3)Might helps on all classes and weapons to kill stuff faster. If you have high enough power by using sigils, weapons and gear then you dont need to stack might.
However d/d has the ability to trigger pyromancers puissance trait fairly often and quick and the trait can be used to get might stacks quicker than using any other elementalist skill.
Note this trait also grants might if you use conjure weapon skills and utility skills. Any skill that is activated while youre in fire attunement.

4) D/D is more for roaming builds, water would be much better used if youre following a zerg (i assume you are doing that considering you wont lvl up much if you roam around)

WvW Staff builds can be built in 2 ways:
1) Full glass cannon. Destroy the enemy zerg from the far back of your army with extreme meteor showers, ice storms and other aoes. Can also be used to quickly destroy enemy siege,or put enough pressure on the enemy that is using the siege to run away.
2) Suport damage dealer: Deal good dmg to the enemy zergs while also being able to support your own army with frequent water fields, condi clenses and cc’s while being tanky enough to move with your zerg at all times (call your water fields if youre using team speak, this way your zerg will be prepared and will blast finish your water fields more often and a single water field can fill up the entire zergs health to 100%)

WvW d/d builds can be built in a few ways as well, but most commonly it would be a d/d build that relies on boons, auras and fast spells that a d/d can dish out at the enemy.

There are also some tricks you can pull off like going stealth with a thief, and channeling churning earth while he attracts nearby enemies towards you. Then you flash on top of a player dealing a large critical hit as well as tons of dmg via the churning earth.

You can also share your auras with your party members, or nearby allies if you are roaming in a smaller group. Usually with a auramancer build sharing auras also grants various boons to you and allies.

Any point to playing tempest?...

in Elementalist

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

-Tempest brings new aoes with various fields and effects on overload abilities.
-They bring shouts, and warhorn skills that grant more fields, auras and boons

Now here is the thing that kinda bothers me a bit when it comes to tempest and well…any other elite specialization.

People just automatically forget the whole core class and assume they are forced into playing with the new weapon and using ONLY new utility skills…. seriously?

Remember why you started playing elementalist? Remember how fun it was? Remember how versitile it is? (even more so than a revenant is considering he have 4 “weapon” sets at any given time and we can pick and chose whatever utility skills we want)

Well now you get to be all that + whatever combination and synergy you can do with your core weapons, core utility skills and core trait skills.

This is what i think concerns everyone atm. I wont bother saying things like " play whats fun for you, and what you like" cause clearly not everyone plays for fun here.

PS: Who said you need to sit in 1 attunement in order to use a single overload before you are allowed to switch to the next attunement?

I also think you are overvaluing the condi dmg but I don’t have the time to actually test it..

I’m not trying to say condi dmg is superb compared to raw dmg, im saying that condition dmg stat scales the elementalists burning and bleeding in a much better way power does to raw dmg.

Meaning 100 Condi dmg stats will make eruption deal far more dmg than with 100 power.
And since in both cases (100 condi or 100 power) the skill can crit, you will need quite a high critical dmg % to make it equal.

Example:
Eruption with 1100 power and 0 condi dmg = 537raw dmg. 1584 bleeding dmg
Eruption with 1000 power and 100 condi dmg= 489raw dmg, 2016 bleeding dmg

The eruption with 100 less power but 100 more condi dmg deals 384 total dmg more

If eruption crits ,and has 200% crit dmg the results will be as folowing:
100power =1074 raw dmg +1584 bleeding dmg = 2658 total dmg
100 condi = 978 raw dmg + 2016 bleeding dmg = 2994 total dmg

On crit with 200% critical dmg, the 100 condi dmg still managed to deal 336 more dmg.

One would need to have +1015 power in order to deal 112 dmg more than you would do with +100 condi dmg (on a non crit hit)

Again, im not trying to say condition dmg and condition skills and builds are superior and overpowered. I am showing how Power stat and Condition damage stat scales raw and condition dmg on elementalist skills.

Obviously im not taking into consideration that eruption has a 6 second cd, and a 12 second bleeding duration. Why? Because im not trying to show some super efficient condition meta build and im also not trying to show some sort of dps comparison between power based builds or condition based builds.

Again, im just showing how the 2 stats, Power and Condition damage effects various skills, and how those stats scale the raw and bleeding/burning condition damage up.

I’m using full Marauder armors + Zerk trinkets and doing pretty well in jungle.

16k HP while sacrificing less dps than using Full Celes. Avoid lots of OHKO.

Most foes are fine, but those range foes really hit like a truck and many of them can’t be reflected :/ (Dam frog archer and chaks and Modrem snipers..)

Full marauder armor + zerker accessory (all ascended and without any vitality/toughness on weapons or runes or food) gives about 521 less defense and about 3140 less health than a full celestial armor (without vit and tough on runes, weapons or food)

So if you could tell me what weapons, food, runes or traits you are using to get to your 16k hp using marauder armor + zerker accessory? I would be grateful

How in the hell Celestial stats would give more crit chance and dmg than berz stats? It just doesn’t happen.

Celestial can NOT deal as much raw dmg as berz because almost half the stats are spent on survivability. That’s just common sense. I would like to know how you conducted your tests. Or did you just add every spell’s dmg without accounting the CDs and how much of these spells would hit?

edit : Either you are facing a boss with a larger hitbox than your average enemy or you are facing multiple small enemies. Either cases, your meteor shower is going to hit WAY MORE than 1 time. So yeah. Your calculations are flawed and don’t reflect reality in any way.

I have a feeling you haven’t read my entire post, or understood what i was trying to show here.

1) I was comparing Full Celestial armor+accessory set with a Zerker armor+ Soldiers accessory. The reason why the full celestial armor+accessory give more crit chance is cause Soldiers offer no precision.

Celestial armor+accessory gives more precision that JUST Zerker armor (without zerker accessory)

2) I already mentioned that the combination of zerker armor and soldiers accessory gives about 600 power more than the celestial armoraccessory set.

However the 521 condition damage from celestial set modifies skills with burning and bleeding in a way that it makes such skills stronger ( about 33% stronger) than when you use the exact same skills with 0 condi dmg and 600 more power.

In other words, when it comes to overall dmg, 521 condi dmg makes those skills 33% more efficient with damage than 600 power.

Examples:
Lets compare 2 skills with the 2 different gear sets (full celestial vs Zerker armor+ Soldiers accessory). In both cases we use runes of strength and the same weapon with no sigils, and we gain +150 power while attuned to fire (trait)

A) Gear: Zerker armor/strength runes +Soldiers accessory

Flame strike: 400raw dmg, 436 burning dmg ( 837 total dmg)
Stone shards: 423raw dmg, 493 bleeding dmg (916 total dmg)

B) Gear: Celestial armor/strength runes + Celestial accessory

Flamestrike: 308raw dmg, 679 burning dmg (987 total dmg, 150 more dmg)
Stone Shards: 321raw dmg, 1056bleeding dmg ( 1377 total dmg, 461 more dmg)

3)No, my calculations don’t show reality, it was never my intention to do that. I was just showing what i discovered while playing around with the build editor.
And that’s that condition damage STAT modifies elementalist skills (that deal burning and bleeding) better than power modifies all other elementalist skills (including the ones that deal bleeding and burning)

Meaning, as said before, the 521 condition dmg you get from celestial makes condition applying skills stronger compared to the same skills that get 600 power (and 10crit % less) from a Zerker armor + Soldier accessory set.

As for the hitbox of the mob, the amount of mob, and the way meteor shower deals dmg you should read my conclusion from the original post

celestial vs zerker+soldiers?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

I have been playing around with the build edditor on the web page and i made a build.

And now i was going back and forth ,switching between having a celestial armor set +celestial acessory set OR zerker armor set +soldiers accessory set.

The weapons i used were rampager scepter with +20% burning and zerker dagger offhand with +20% bleeding (in both cases)

I also used the +150power when in fire attunement trait into consideration.

Now, stats wise this is what i ended up with:

Power+Soldiers give about +600power stats more compared to celestial stats

Celestial set gives +10%crit chance, 521healing power and condi dmg (about 50% more bleeding dmg and 30% more burning dmg, also about 1000health more when using glyph of harmony in water attunement and about +600health more when using a full ether renewal.

Power+soldier set gives a +55armor and about +700max health…those things are very small that i just ignored it, same goes with crit dmg (cele gives more of that tho)

Now when i look at s/d atacks such as flame strike, dragons tooth, ring of fire, stone shards and churning earth, the combined dmg form the condition and regular attacks becomes about 33% better when using celestial gear.

I didn’t use critical chance or critical strike into considiration (tho i asume, even with 600 less power, celestial stats offer more crit chance and dmg than the zerker/soldier set…)

And then i did the same thing but this time on a zerker staff also with +20bleeding and burning sigils. I only did the math with the skills people normaly use for dps
Skills are : All 5 fire staff skills, Air auto attacks, Earth 2 and 5 skills

The Zerker/soldier armor set did better on this one when it comes to normal raw dmg…however once again, the lack of condition dmg from celestial staff made a significant impact on the overall dmg (mainly provided,or lack off trough skills such as flame burst, eruption and shockwave)

In total, using the Zerker/power set will give you about -20% dmg compared when using celestial.

MAJOR NOTE: All those numbers from attacks were treated as if i was attacking a single time, and a single target.
This means that my lava font dealt all ticks on 1 target, my dragons tooth hit 1 target, and also my meteor shower hits 1 target ONCE.

Also note that the runes used in this were rune of strength and that even without the +20% bleeding and burning sigils, the amount of those condition dmg are significantly higher on celestial than without it. (meaning condition modifiers on skills with conditions scale very good with condition dmg on a ele, perhaps even better than power does on power modifiers )

Aftermath:
The math here doesn’t show optimal dps, it doesn’t use into consideration the full potential of skills (lava font hits 5 targets, meteor shower hits 3 targets 24 times…) and it doesn’t use a super optimal build.

This “math” shows only how the amount of stats that you get from a full celestial armor/accessory effects the dmg modifiers compared to a full zerker armor with soldiers accessory.

Conclusion:
Condition dmg scales extremely well on elementalist burning and bleeding skills compared to how power effects the raw dmg of skills overall.

However the elementalist (mostly on staff) has the potential (with the use of his splash aoe effect on fireballs, bouncing effect on chain lightning, 5 target lava font and 24hits on 3 targets meteor shower) to deal far superior dmg, as well as far better dps than a hybrid or a pure condition elementalist can.

Agree? Disagree? Opinions? Thoughts? Explanations? Feel free to share.

i have almost all professions at lvl 80 (trough exploring and fighting instead of toks)
and i have to say, necro-guardian-ele, ranger and even revenant in that order

NOTE: the order i made is based on a fun factor and the nice feel i get form killing mobs around me, in events, and hero challenges as well. Usually i use the “pull mobs around you, aoe burst them, repeat” method

Necro: staff, d/wh minion master with vampiric traits. it allows my necro to kill single mobs 1 by 1 extremely fast…like i was spaming hundred blades all the time.
I can also pull lots of mobs from far away with staff 1 and nuke them all with staff 2-3-4-5, then warhorn 5 and seeing so many dmg numbers and healing numbers just gives me a super satisfying feeling i cant get from any other class.
The mark of blood on dodge trait with its staff counterpart makes my self and my minions very resistant, combined with vampiric and vampiric presence it gives you 3 sources of life steal..also deathsrhoud.

Guardian:a very simple rotation with my staff/gs that allows me to pull mobs around, line of ward them and leave a symbol of swiftness that deals dmg on one side and heals me on the other side while im empowering my self, then i switch to gs, leap, symbol, retaliation, whirl and finish off mobs with auto attack.

Lots of boons, lots of dmg, mobs fall fast, heavy armor, has nice passive regen..but the combo ends up being kinda boring if youre using it form lvl 1 to the point you finished 2 personal stories and a season of living story…

Elementalist: similar to the guardian, i use staff and abuse long range and large aoes to burst stuff down…sometimes i get downed as well.

Ranger: pull mobs, switch to axe/torch and burst stuff in a massive aoe with fields. add traps for more dmg.

What is your favorite class ?

I kinda have all professions at lvl 80 with good gear at this point (but not all with full elite specialization, also revenant is going green/rare gear atm) so ill just give a very quick review about all the professions.

. *Elementalist
-I mostly use him in dungeons, ice storm, aoes and might stacking is very usefull
-i love how versitile the class is and i dont only mean it cause it has the most skills in the game
-mostly going staff, sometimes scepter/dager-focus, rarely using d/d. Because the staff is versitile on its own i rarely feel the need to use other weapons.
-Tempests added more aoe skills

. *Mesmer
-I often use it in pvp, has several ways to play in pvp and i love when i trick people with my clones as well as deal a chained cc on someone that leaves him completely defenseless for a long time
-Often using portals and shouting on map chat to help people out on guild missions, JPs or even wvw.
-love the stealth
-Chronomancers added more aoes, and the continuum split trick

.*Necromancer
-A class im currently playing, pretty fun in pvp, durable as well.
-Has several different gameplay styles that i just love and cant seem to find on other classes (most others are very simple, they have condi builds, dps builds or some sort of support/healing builds)
-Necro can play with a small army of minions that are quite durable if you take care of them and you can also play with vampiric traits. Can also combine it with minions and you will see more dmg numbers on your screen as well as green numbers for your health than can fit on your screen.
-theres also death shround builds, corupted necromancer builds and the reaper is super fun and awesome
-Reapers added epic cleaving abilities, and reaper form just makes you a rampaging maniac that cleaves trough mobs with dmg you cant even imagine

*Thief
-At one point i got super bored of the game, until i started playing thief.
-I plaid it in all aspects of the game, pvp was awesome in hit and run tactics specially when it comes with zipping around the map capturing points.
Was a scout in wvw and i even “invented” a alarm trap that allowed me to “be” on 2 sides of the map at once…kinda.. but scouting is pretty hard now with the new wvw maps
As for pve, the initiative mechanics and the way thief was ment to be plaid was something super refreshing for me at the time when i needed it.
-Can stealth for a very long period of times, even infinitely if i spam cloak and daggers at the right time. This allowed me often to stealth ,shadow step and grab treasures guarded by traps and champions in some more hidden areas of the pve world.
-The skills offer you “the perfect tools for the right time and place”. This felt more dynamic as i was caught switvhing between utility skills and weapons more often than on other classes that usually took 2 weapons and 1 set of utility skills from lvl 1-80
-Daredevils added a bruiser style gameplay. Its mostly oriented towards pvp with so many different cc, skill cd increasing interupts and even a elite skill that finishes your foe if downed. Also many many dodges and “rewards on dodge” traits

-Engineers
-They were pretty fun in wvw tho i havent tried them on the new maps yet.
-pvp was either a hit or miss for me :/
-pve was great.Again i love heavy utility based classes that are very versitile and can offer many different things and gameplay styles.
-however i dont really like all the rifles, guns, flamethrowers and mechanical kits in a fantazy world that still uses mostly magic swords and bows…
-Scrapper added flying mobile turets and a tanky hammer

-Ranger.
-pvp was pretty cool, but mostly used only 1 type of build
-I plaid wvw similar to thiefs, was scouting and sniping peeps from far away.
-ranger Trappers are pretty fun to play
-in wvw i enjoyed having the extra perk of looking around for pets to charm as well as switching between
-Druids added a primary healer class. Has also cc support..but because of the HUGE difference between druid spec and any other ranger spec its kinda hard to combine with other specs as a druid.. Youll probably go as a hybrid. Zealot dps LB/staff ranger or Apothecary SB/staff ranger would be nice.

-Warriors
-Class with highest passive health ,health regen and armor in the game
-extremely durable (or can be if traited right)
-Its skills are extremely rigid…most skills simply do dmg in one way or another. Theres barely any utility in them that you can use to help people around you or effect the world in some way.
-Never tried pvp with it because of that reason..i knew id have to simply chase people and try to kill them…
-Best choice for a zerk commander in wvw (imo)
-Can support people around with phalanx strenght ,banners that grant regeneration and stat boosts and a wide aoe rezz with the Battle Standard..
-everything else is really rigid and plain simple when it comes to skills
-Berserkers added enhanced burst skills and a 10s stun breaker..skills are still rigid and not complex in any way

-Guardian
-Was a main for quite a while of mine
-Bunker/support pvp guard was pretty fun and a refreshing different thing to play compared to other classes
-Also a nice commander for wvw
-has a ton of utility that can help players around, from permanent protection, reflections, projectile absorptions, healing, swiftness, might you name it.
-i just enjoyed being able to effect everyone around me with boons, specially when i needed to speed up npcs or protect them in events.
-Dragon hunter offers a longbow that has quite a range compared to anything the guardian had before. I find playing it by shooting things from far away and using traps and switching to a melee weapon if they come close the best and most fun way. Tho it does kinda limit the supportive side of the guardian since youre shooting things from far away

-Revenant
-Havent tried it in pvp or wvw.
-In pve i love it cause its quite versitile, it has a stance for anything you want and you can switch between 2 of them at any given time.
-However the skills ,even tho versitile, are still very restrictive.
-You pick 2 stances, 2 traitlines that go well with the stances, 2 weapons that go well with the stances, gear stats that go well with the weapon skill ability and there you go..thats a formula to play rev. Because you cant change any of your skills and using a mace on shiro stance has no sense and is ineffective
-Heralds come with skills that offer boons and effects to everyone around you.
Think of your self as a moving pulsing pillar of boons

mad king clocktower "bug" fix

sometimes youll end up in a instance where you just cant seem to jump into the clock at the last jump no matter what you do.

here is a clear way to know if youre in such a instance

at the start of the puzzle you will stop and wait till the thunder hits the wall and leaves some “blocks” for you to jump on.

Pay attention to the movement of the blocks, if they move smoothly and stop once (in position) then youre in a GOOD instance

If the blocks move, stop, then move again and stop again (in position) then you are in a BAD instance that “lags” and you will most likely never make the final jump inside the clock tower.

This can also be seen at the part where you jump down to the gear kog with the 3rd chest where you have to wait a little bit in order for the other “blocks” to get in position.

A way to fix this is to simply leave the instance (to LA) and return back

Diminishing returns, what the...?

i think DR hits “localy” as in only in parts of the map and not on the map wide level.

also, spending about 15-30minutes in another zone often resets my dr on the previous zone.

Example: Rat farming during haloween. it goes well untill it hits dr and drops nothing. i go and do some events in another zone ,return and it starts droping again.
