If you’re mixing zerker with knights, use knights for the items lower on the list and zerker for the higher ones. That way you’re getting the maximum amount of toughness while losing the least amount of crit dmg.

5 stat points – upgrade slot of trinkets and backpack
10 stat points- traits (not an equipment, but listed for comparison)
12 stat points – glove, shoulder and boots
12.8 stat points – 1H weapons and amulet
13.33 stat points – Earring
14 stat points – Backpack (rare version from guild armorsmith)
14.22 stat points – 2H weapons
14.4 stat points – Coat
16 stat points – Ring, helm and legging

Edit I’ve used doly runes with berserker gear and if your looking for damage and tankyness this isnt the way to go. 165 tougness or whatever the runes add is not enough to make any noticeable difference when you have no toughness in your build.

Another way to go would be to use Ruby orbs or Runes of Rage in your Knights set and a mix of berserker or knights trinkets with ruby orbs.

The power difference between knights and zerker is very small and there is no difference in precision. What your missing is crit damage. There are better ways such as using runes, trinkets or orbs that give crit damage combines with knights gear than to use zerker gear.

My current set up I use a knights helm and I think Knights leggings, with Soldier chest, shoulders, gloves, boots with Runes of Rage, Berseker weapon, Knights trinkets with ruby orbs and an ascended soldiers ring and the rare soldiers backpack.

I have another solders set with solder runes I use for a shout build sometimes.

Disclaimer: Blackgate is not a bandwagon destination and has not been a bandwagon destination for some time at this point in the game. Bandwagons are a thing of the past. If guilds transfer at this point, it is because they feel a server is better aligned with their interests, not because they think going to that server will let them win. If you think we are pouring over with queues and have absurd numbers around the clock, you would be sorely mistaken. Blackgate does what it does and does it well, that is why we are successful. Yes, we are blessed with outstanding guilds around the clock, but that only tells part of the story. Don’t believe anything you read about massive Blackgate zergs because I think I’d know about them if they existed.

If thats what true than tell your people to stop posting that everyone should move to blackgate, and that blackgate is the best option to go to T1. Your server didn’t organically grow up from its own population no Blackgate historically is known for being a massive bandwagon server and that is its claim to fame. I see tons of threads and various posts, as well as have seen scouts on different servers all recruiting to blackgate telling people this is their shot in T1. First hand witnessed some guilds on SoR and IOJ believing this and they bandwagoned on over instead of just going to a server that is already T1 you convinced them otherwise.

Ya a few weeks ago someone from sor posted a video of a mesmer on BG glitching a couple BG zergs into a keep and then somone from SoR coined the name Hackgayte it was hilarious watching that whole drama.

IOJ your server was the victim of attrition. Your population could gain new interest in playing again. Good luck in T3. Was fun playing against you all I hope you guys have more fun there.

Blackgate you guys just have enough numbers to be in T1 unless SBI takes a dive similar to IOJ your going to be in T2 a very long time now that TC is moving up your not going to be able to leech points off of them like you did to IOJ and SoR is very strong during the times of days your not.

So all of this talk about BG is moving up to T1 isn’t going to happen so easily specially now.

Ya a full DPS build doesn’t contribute more to a party than a shout build and I was talking about puting ruby orbs in knights armor, thats not a shout build. Any gear can kill trash mobs in orr. Take your glass cannon build to Fractals and see how much you are contributing when your face down most of the time. I’m somone who has run both builds and played since open beta. So my onion isn’t narrow minded and based on having only run the build that im currently using.

Your right, I dont know. I had just done the math Zerker vs knight sometime ago.

Knights has 65 less power the same precision as zerker and gives max toughness. If you were to put Ruby orbs in knights armor. The difference would be very small in terms or Direct damage. With significantly more survivability.

Mathematically Ruby is better assuming those are the stats you want. My personal opinion your overall build is inferior, to a knights build with critical upgrades.

Ya the reward is helping the server we all get that, but the ops point is he is tired of helping a helpless server population for the most part. His point is that the people who are doing this kind of helping are a minority and the majority are along a free ride and take it for granted and essentially do nothing besides zerg which maybe fail.

Another point is fortifications are easier to attack than they are to defend, when compounded with insufficient numbers and siege for defense the upgrades are useless. There are exceptions to this of course in where the attackers are noobs and the defenders are competent but generally speaking here don’t waste money upgrading if you don’t have enough people to defend and run supply and build.

All the other posts here are great, but the OPs point is everyone left him, so to the op you may want to take the advice of asking for contributions or find out if there are people that are going to stay or not before you upgrade something like that. Theres a lot of zerging that goes on in WvW where people just mindlessly zerg from one thing to the next and the thought never crosses their mind to defend anything.
I like the Idea of A-Net implementing some kind of reward system for upgrading.

I take camps alone, solo. I kill yaks alone solo. I have ninjad towers, and keeps alone solo then called for help with the lord. Lasty I kill other players alone solo. Most people are not smart or good enough to do this. They need to LTP and stop running like sissies.

Sure give it a try and see if you like it. That build is run and gun, so you will need to change your playstyle somewhat to be successful with it. That build is mostly for zerging with other players. For 1v1 I think it would be good against rangers and some ranged professions and very very bad vs some others like thief’s guardians and other warriors because that build is all about shooting from safety and when things get though leaping away with a sword or blowing your horn and running.

If i could suggest something to you. Axe/shield and switch between GS and rifle and longbow when you need to.

First you need to tell us what gear you are using. If you are a glass cannon build and you are refusing to change youre gear, theres nothing we can do to help you

Walls of text! OMG. Use knights armor, Berserker weapon. Mix of knights/berserker trikets with berserker jewels. Thats the best build. It gives a good balance of defense and power. Or use the karma soldier armor found in Orr and mix it with knights armor same trinkets as the 1st one.

Runes is doesn’t mater, use solder runes for condition removal, Rage runes for crit, or strength runes for power are all good. Do not use berserker armor.

In the state of the game interview/conference it was stated that there will be a WvW update coming Q1/Q2 2013 that will change WvW a lot.

I like the idea, I’m just tired of rebuilding guild influence and upgrades. This is the 3rd time we’ve had to rebuild upgrades and not switching servers and doing that again. So will stay on SoR unless something happens with my guild which is unlikely. GL though.

Edit btw we don’t care about T1 or winning. There is no reward for winning or going to T1. Only thing I don’t like is quitters, and defeatist attitudes, combined with noobness. As long as I don’t run into those types in WvW I have fun regardless.

I use runes of rage in one of my sets of gear. As a warrior you can almost always have fury up so with runes of rage you are getting more crit power than rune of divinity at a fraction of the cost. 15 crit power = rage 12 crit power Divinity.

I don’t have any experience with runes of strength but as a warrior the same goes u can have might up all the time almost so you will always have a 5% damage boost.

Not sure with math which would give you more DPS I kinda think a 15% increase in crit power only benefits you when you crit, while the 5% damage would be mostly active all the time. I think if your going soldier gear the might runes would be better if you are going soldier accessories too. Becasue your not going to crit alot. But if you do soldier gear with all knights accessories and berserker weapons you will get something like 40% crit rate. So In that case rage works great when your under fury your going to have 60/70 crit rate…. its a tough call. both are great. Id do rage runes though with berserker weapon and knight/zerker accessories if you are doing solder gear with rage runes becasue your going to need precision which will will lack to make it work.

I love axe 5 with combo fields and PvE, thats about it though. If you want survivability in PVP you kinda need a shield and Axe/Shield works well together for this.

There is also the possibility of dynamic population changes. What about this, if you are in a Q for WvW you get sent to some other server (not in your current match) to fight it out while you wait for the Q to pop. This would add some bodies to other servers, even if just for a short time, it might also promote transfers to smaller servers from big ones. Say your always in a Q on your server, and you try one out in this way and you actually like the community for the time your there, you may be interested in going there perm. Just an idea.

I like that Idea, however that would entitled a whole redesign of WvW to make it work. On another note though what you are advocating is a WvW system that works similar to hot join sPvP. The way WvW currently works its based on server achievement not individual achievement. So this wouldn’t work unless there was som kinda mercenary system.

Now a mercenary system would be great. A menu that pops up and lists servers that need the most help at the current time of any given match up you are rewarded for helping them. To prevent exploiting you would be given a quest that contained objectives. Like take X amount of camps, towers and keeps. Only then once that is complete you would receive some kinda daily type reward that had a chance for a ascended ring or something.

Again to do anything like this stuff would require significant redesigns. But I like the idea of a mercenary system that only works like break out events when servers need help.

WvW in its current incarnation suffers from player attrition due to the matches being too long. 7 days of night capping solidifies the lead for the winning server in most match ups. .

Most servers the 1st 3days they try really hard then the non hardcore players quit. You have a lot of random pug and casual player support at the start of the match and towards the end of the match its just the same old people everyday. Simple solution would be to make matches 72 hours. Then even Tier3 servers could be competitive to T1 servers if they pull all nighters, really pull together for just only 3 days and try. Then we would have a lot more different match ups.

There would be more interest in WvW then because of attrition and the same matches all the time its become stagnant making it even more challenging for servers to move up, only causing servers to move down.

I already hit that hard with a bow and hammer without those stacks of might. And I hit harder than you with might. I think its really a cool build, but its not practical in fast paced PVP and pve and its gimpy. It is cool though.

I support Aneirin Cadwall.9126 of SoR and a majority of what he says is true. Keep up the good fight bro don’t stop giving these guys reality checks.

Edit: I’ve also argued some of the same points you have brought up in your various posts in this thread, and have been met with the same kinda opposition on SoR. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but there is a difference between opinions and facts. And yours are facts sir.

Actually all other professions have to do this too. Warrior isn’t some stunted class cowering in the shadow of all other classes.

Believe it or not, other classes have traits and a limited amount of utility slots too and have to allocate them appropriately to accomplish certain goals just like warriors do.

There is a difference between being forced into using specific utilities that dont help you much if at all, excpet to utilize runes that you are forced into becasue your class has serious flaws. Or having to spec 20-30 points into a worthless trait line. Worthleess becasue the minor traits dont help you at all and vitality doesnt really help you much at all either. And other professions problems.

YA we’ve all heard this argument before. That because we can use soldier runes warrior doesn’t have a problem. I think we all see flaws in this argument. In that it does not address the problem with warrior it forces them to build and play a certain way to be viable. This not only goes against the GW2 philosophy but it also doesn’t solve the problem with the warrior. What your doing is saying hey you have to play this way you can only use this build because warrior is broken. But since you can play this way and not have issue with conditions than there isn’t a issue with warrior. This is a flawed argument.

Probably they just wanted to modify the skill without modifying the skill. I expect the skill to do equivalent damage to having 15 stacks of might and fury without the boons. That is probably going to happen. Same damage as having the boons but no boons.

What probably happened is this skill was supposed to get a buff, but didn’t they then realized they didn’t buff the skill and still had the modified skill used for testing in the build. This delayed the build on friday because they had to disable the test version of the skill. Expect next patch will have the finished skill in the patch.

TY anet a lot of people have been asking for this. Ignore the QQers they are the ones who abused it. It required no skill to use btw and expert communication or whatever I hope that is a joke.

Maybe, I find it hard to believe they would announce the event in the 1st place if it wasn’t already ready. My guess is the delay is due to bug fixing. So you need to ask yourselves do you want it now and have a bunch of zeroday exploits and bugs or do you want it stable and working.

I don’t like hammer in Wvw becasue there is too many ranged classes that will kite you. I think its decent in Spvp though. And can be a good situational weapon in WvW i just wouldn’t use it in open field combat.

Mobs just attack real slow, and shield block isn’t real long. It is bugged in that In rare occasions it hasn’t blocked something and when traited to reflect missiles in rare occasions it doesn’t reflect some ranged attacks.

This is just getting annoying. I am from Isle of Janthir and there are MULTIPLE thiefs in Sanctum of Rall who are hacking to win. They will backstab you, and instantly (and I mean instantly) go back into stealth and repeat this hundreds of times, no matter how many people there, or no matter how many times they use it. idk if they are using the skill cancel to bug the cooldowns or what, but when they are able to take out entire camps in seconds, it needs to be fixed Since A-net doesn’t allow us to post screenshots or names, and there is no report for hacking there will be nothing done about this unless I post, and I’m sure nothing will be done here either.

Just because something seems impossible doesn’t mean it’s not worth fighting. Point’s mean squat. What matters is if your having fun out there. The battles Thursday are just as intense and enjoyable as they are on Monday. Often times I find more so.

Ya people get all kinds of things in their heads all the time. I Think though most people are just starting to get burned out myself included. Its the same old stuff all the time thats why. In real life that strong hero archtype is very attractive to men who are looking for a woman with brains and abilities. This is what I thought too, however I’m not ready to throw the towel in just yet that things will not be balanced some more. As far as balance goes GW2 is just as balanced as any other MMO out there if not more balanced in 3 months than other MMOs have had 8 years to do so. My biggest problem is with Culling. This is the major flaw of the game. It make no difference if a game is balanced if rendering is the issue that makes it OP. Theres a huge part of the newest patch is about balance so wait and see if any improvements come.

What the real issue is :
Anet nerfed open world loot drops and increased timers on events in orr in order to make people buy gems to convert to gold.
Because the only place to get gold and teh awesome gear is to grind fracs over and over and over you stay in LA. They funneled everyone to 1 thing.
So if you dont do dungeons and do open world stuff you spend 5X the work and time for the reward and by consequence give up.
They let the game stagnate so that people will buy gems and convert to gold or grind fracs.

This is kinda an exaggeration and all actions listed are not necessarily linked to each other, its a great conspiracy but even though the conspiracy is false all things you mentioned are true. So it reflects the current state of the game, however your representation of that is false but is comprised of true things. What I’m trying to say is it doesn’t matter how you get somewhere if the end result is the same. While what you are saying is constructed in a way that this is kinda shady, the intention of A-Net may have not been shady but the end result is shady.

Ranger is a pretty solid professions, the problem I see with a lot of Rangers in SPvP is that they try to make a balanced build and forget to pick a role. Some that will have some burst or some condition or some survivability, instead of Being full burst, condition or survivability.

Another thing is that this is a team sport, so you don’t always have to rely on yourself for condition removal. I run with a friend that is a guardian and he is always cleansing and healing me.

shake it off removes 1 condition, the signet does remove all conditions, but other than that its useless. It doesn’t heal, it has a long CD, it takes up a utility slot thats needed for more important things. There is a heal called mending that removes 2 conditions its a terrible heal that heals for maybe 1/5 of a warriors HP pool. There is a trait to shake it off automatically but it is a major trait deep in the defense trait line that offers very little value to waste so many points on plus it has a long CD. Thats it folks its very bad for warriors. You then force them into shout builds and force them into specific runes to be viable which nerfs their potential.

BG has better full time coverage. We don’t. Everytime an event of some sort takes place, we get hit harder. Thought that was common sense?

BG does have better coverage, so they will continue to win, however how well SoR plays determines how much they win by. Its very hard for me not to be critical of a lot of things I see sometimes that our players are doing but more often times I am impressed. Edit I know your probably thinking who is this guy to be critical of anything, and my response to that is learn to take some criticism if its constructive, or you will never know what your doing wrong and how to improve.

Its leg specialist and its a 1 sec. But you can do somthing like immo, shield stun, bullcharge weapon swap, stun with hammer knock down again and immo. So ya its not a 9 sec immo but its enough CC to disable you for 9 secs. LTP.

In the past, this has been the case with previous events of this scale so I’m wondering if A-Net are continuing these methods or is this one going to be different.

I haven’t noticed any difference. Probably because prioritizing rendering that doesn’t render anyways, still wont render.

Will we get the patch tonight and the event tomorrow?
