Why I refuse to buy the Ceremonial Outfit

in Black Lion Trading Co

Weindrasi.3805

When I saw the ceremonial outfit, I was so excited. “That would look great on my human guardian and my norn Mesmer!” I thought happily “It’s even modest”. What’s not to love, I thought?

I’ll tell you what’s not to love. Clipping issues. Horrendous clipping issues.
Both my human guardian and my norn Mesmer have clipping issues that I can’t ignore—leading me to the decision that I will not be buying the ceremonial outfit, even though I like it.

On my human guardian, her arms and hands clip through the cloth at the hips. I can’t even see her hands, it’s so bad.
On my norn, her bum clips through the back, her hands clip through the hips (to a lesser degree then the human), and her long hair clips through the fan at the neck. It’s blatant, and it looks awful—which is a shame, because the outfit concept is so cool.

My other characters are charr, and they have the same problems they always have. Their tails clip through the back. The shoulders float. Of 7 characters, not one of them can wear that set without these problems.

When did you connect with your character?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Weindrasi.3805

Honestly, for me, connecting to the character visually is more important then its profession. I can do well enough, and adapt to, any profession—but if my character looks like barf, I won’t have an interest in playing it.
I spend a lot of time tweaking the details of my character’s appearance. I try to portray their personalities through their looks—each one has a certain “vibe”, and because of that, they all feel different when I play them. That way, when I get bored with one character type, I can switch to something very different.
At any rate, the first time I connected with my character was long before launch. I was so excited for the game, I took a lot of time designing her and sketching her. When I got the opportunity to participate in betas and bring my design to life, the connection was solidified. Nyoka Gorefell, charr warrior, my main to this day

Were the GW1 Charr Flame Legion?

Guild Wars 1 charr were from all the legions—Blood, Ash, Iron, and Flame. However, Flame was the most powerful, and the other three legions were subservient to the will of the Flame Shamans.
Originally, the Flame Shamans worshipped the minions on an evil god—the Titans—and used this religion to maintain control over the rest of the charr. However, the players in Guild Wars 1 defeated the Titans. After this defeat, the Flame Shamans started worshipping the Destroyers—dragon minions—to try and hold their religion together, so they could stay in power.
However, the defeat of the Titans made a charr named Pyre Fierceshot realize that the Shamans had been lying—that the religion was a lie to keep the charr enslaved. He started a rebellion among Blood, Ash, and Iron legion—which was continued by his granddaughter Kalla. What Pyre started, Kalla finished—freeing those three legions from Flame.

I agree with you OP.
There’s just too much stuff needed to get the backpiece. It’s too big a shopping list. It’s disorganized, and it makes my head hurt even to contemplate it.
I don’t have a problem with taking time, and putting in effort. But I’d rather use that time and effort to get 5 rare items—not hundreds of bits and pieces here and there that consume my entire inventory. Too much clutter.

This is somebody’s baby. Someone drew this item, and quite possibly the same person designed it’s model, and at the end thought ’I’m so proud of this design’. Then you took all of two seconds to flip them off. Everyone knows you won’t be liked by everyone, but we’re still made of flesh and that kitten stings.

Have some godkitten civility, please.

I kind of agree with you in that these are human beings, not machines, whose work we criticize. But on the other hand, as someone who has artistic inclinations, I can be 10x more critical of my own work than other people ever will and if you’re in the thick of a development process, you may not actually have time to get your idea to a point that you’re fully satisfied with it.

So although the scenario you described is possible, it’s equally possible that someone made it and wasn’t satisfied with the final product, but had to say it was done anyway because of time constraints.

Artistic people tend to have stuff that they are really proud of and stuff that just didn’t happen right to them, and you might be surprised sometimes which projects they’re most proud of – often, it will have little to do with how well or poorly it was received.

I wouldn’t call what Faux typed “critique”.
Lacking or complete, it represents their talent. I’ll not stand by while someone hurls insults because of the possibility that it isn’t affecting their target.

While your defense of the artist is admirable, it isn’t needed. The OP isn’t criticizing the appearance and design of the backpiece. If s/he were saying “eeew, it looks so stupid, what kind of bleepity bloop would design it?”, then you’d have a point. But the OP isn’t saying that at all. The OP is complaining about how complicated and disorganized the process is to obtain it—something which probably has nothing to do with the artist at all.

State of the Female Dredge: a curious letter

Weindrasi.3805

Today, whilst wandering around Snowden Drifts, I came across the letter posted below in a dredge mine. Perhaps it has been there since Flame & Frost, but this is my first time coming across it.
Until this, I have never seen any physical evidence of female dredge—we just knew they had to be somewhere. Although dredge gender dimorphism could be very slight, all the dredge workers and leaders (basically all in-game dredge) we’ve encountered seem to be males.
I heard it stated somewhere that dredge are, in fact, sexist and oppressive to women. The women’s lack of workforce presence and leadership roles would confirm this. This letter seems to suggest that before the Molten Alliance, women at least had some leeway, but that interaction with Flame Legion has encouraged the dredge men to be more oppressive.
What are your thoughts on this? Perhaps we’ll see an uprising of female dredge, similar to the female charr rebellion.

My bank is filled to the brim with stacks, my characters have lost half their inventories to stacks, and I continue to get more and more and more. There is no way to get rid of them, except to delete them—and I hate the idea of deleting them, only to have arenanet come out with a way to sell or exchange them. It’s awful like this.

Ghosts of Ascalon: The writing in this book is average, but the story is interesting. I enjoyed reading it.

Edge of Destiny: Sub-par. While this book holds the most lore value, the writing is poor. The characters speak, think and act like middle school boys, the storytelling is poor, and some of the battle scenes are laughable (Characters spend more time insulting each other, and bragging, instead of actually fighting—again, think 12 year old boys). Basically, this book is the reason why Logan is a big joke

Sea of Sorrows: This book is the best of the three in terms of writing, characters, and story.

The whole living story is crap and not for any of the reasons you mentioned. The characters are badly designed and forced, and the ridiculous message it’s pushing in our faces belongs on a Tumblr blog, not in something I pay money for.

Get your act together ArenaNet. Stop forcing this PC trash down our throats. The real offensiveness is what they have done to the Guild Wars story by incorporating all this nonsense into a fantasy that had some potential. The entire living story has been mediocre at best but especially bad since the introduction of all these new characters. It’s uninspiring, it’s deluded, and quite frankly it belongs in a toilet.

The rest of you need to grow a thicker skin and see the forest for the trees.

Who cares if they’re being politically correct? Political correctness, like etiquette, is useful—especially when catering to the sensibilities of large groups.
The Living Story has its flaws, but whether or not it’s “PC” isn’t one of them. As far as I’m concerned, they can be as “PC”—or not—as they please, as long as the game’s fun and the story’s good. The game is fun, and the story’s not the best—but it keeps me interested nonetheless, so I’m happy to follow it.

people who are simply much older than she. Take precautions to keep her as safe from this as possible.

Really? People advanced in age are a threat simply for that reason?

I speak for myself when I say this. When I am talking, I can veer into conversations about sex, violent occurrences, politics, or other questionable content without a second thought. While it’s normal to me and to the adults around me, it may not be okay for a child.
When I say “people who are simply much older then she”, I am thinking in terms of experience and conversation maturity.

Some things to be cautious of:

-She is a young girl, right at the age where she will really start feeling the effects of media pressure on women, to be sexy and unhealthily skinny. Guild Wars 2 is no exception when it comes to negative media—the female characters are often hyper sexualized (see female humans, female norn). Make sure she has a healthy understanding of what is real and what is not, a good body image, and the awareness to resist the casual sexism inherent in a game like this.

-Guild Wars 2 has a good community—but that does not mean it’s free of horrible people. There will be trolls, perverts, and people who are simply much older than she. Take precautions to keep her as safe from this as possible.

-The storyline of Guild Wars 2 may be too mature for some kids. Use your best judgment here.

At any rate, I definitely would not let her play WoW. WoW has a more toxic community and is more sexist then Guild Wars 2 by far. I started getting involved in online gaming around her age, and was introduced to some truly vile things which I didn’t have the understanding to cope with.

Whatever you do here, the key is supervision, supervision, supervision.

The characters aren’t presented perfectly, but I do not find them offensive in any way.
Additionally, feminists are always talking about how people’s behavior does not have to be defined by gender. The feminist viewpoint on men is liberating to men, because it says they don’t have to fit any stereotype. It’s patriarchy that says men have to be testosterone-fueled meatbags.

Female Maguuma Centaurs?

There are lots of female centaurs there. It’s just less noticeable then the Harathi females. Go back and look at the centaurs—all the ones with their chests covered are girls, all the barechested ones are boys. Additionally, in the “protect the centaur shaman” event in the Oasis, the shaman is referred to as “She”.
The Modniir are the same way—all the Modniir Hunters/rangers are females, with covered chests and female voices.
The Harathi have the most noticeable gender differences—their females have more noticeable breasts and flatter faces then other centaur species.
In fact, the only centaur group where females seem absent is the Tamini.

your toons - with lore or against it?

in Lore

Weindrasi.3805

The problem is, there ISN’T a race/profession combo that goes against lore.
There are charr magic users in the Legions, it’s just that many in charr society hold a prejudice against such.
Sylvari are out to learn and experience, so everything fits them.
Norn have sages and shamans who are important in their society—so they would have both martial and magical professions.
Humans have no problem with any profession.
Asura just do whatever the flip they want, and woe be unto the bookah that tries to say otherwise.

When I think of lorebreaking characters, I think of characters who don’t have lore-appropriate names, or characters with lore-breaking appearance traits like a neon pink dragon ball hairdo.
For myself, I make the majority of my toons lore-based.

New Hairstyles: Your Opinion

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Weindrasi.3805

Weindrasi.3805

With the Entanglement update, we got some new hairstyles in the makeover kit that are interesting, to say the least.
Let’s give arenanet some feedback: what do you think of them?

Charr:
The female hairstyles are cool, but they have clipping issues for the charr’s ears. Additionally, the hair looks too shiny to me. Like it is covered in conditioner and hairspray. That shine doesn’t go with the rest of the fur.
The male hairstyles are weird. The first and third are ridiculous. They look awful and the only reason anyone would use them is humor value. While some humor hairstyles are OK, this seems like a bit much. The lion’s mane one is a very cool idea, but it clips.
Overall, the females got the best options from this set.

Sylvari:
The sylvari hairstyles look great. I was especially glad to see Scarlet’s hair. Now I can finally get it for my Scarlet-lookalike character! Honestly, though, I have no complaints. The Sylvari hairs are beautiful and unique.

Human: Nothing I’m interested in. I’d say these are about average—not great or terrible.

Norn: Same as human.

Asura: I don’t have an asura so I don’t have an opinion.

Big Improvment

in Living World

Posted by: Weindrasi.3805

Weindrasi.3805

I really enjoyed myself. First, to contrast what some people are saying, I am delighted that Scarlet still has a role in the story. I loved her character and her story—I’m glad to find out more about who she was before she started going bad.
The new desert environment is wonderful—everything is beautiful. I think I spent the most time just running around, trying to look at everything and take it all in. Also, I’d like to applaud a-net on making the mining caves realistic—they are actually dark, like real caves. It always bothered me that caves in Tyria were never dark—they didn’t FEEL like caves. Additionally, the weather effect of the sandstorm is a great touch.
I am enjoying the further development of the living story characters. Kasmeer and Marjory are great. In the previous season, Kasmeer was the vulnerable one and Marjory the “tough” one. That was fine, but I’m glad to see their roles evolving. Now, Kasmeer is acting as the tough one—being protective over Marjory. They’re both showing their competence and depth—Kasmeer has come a long way from the noblewoman we first met in Southsun. I love the showcase of her Mesmer abilities.
Rox and Braham are great as well. Braham’s grown up a lot—he’s using his head a lot more. Rox is great as always.
Taimi makes me laugh because I share my Scarlet obsession with her. While she was in Scarlet’s house, freaking out about everything, my emotions followed hers almost exactly.
While some have made complaints about the jumping in the game, I didn’t find it bad at all. It gives you a challenge, but it’s not too difficult, and the learning curve is good. Within an hour’s roaming, I became comfortable.
Lastly, I like the fact that the story is emotionally engaging. The plight of the Zephrites, and the reactions of the lead characters, catch both my attention and my sympathies. I always appreciate a game that can tell a good story, and portray a wide range of genuine emotions, alongside the gameplay itself. That kind of thing makes the world much more engaging and believable.

Taimi is growing up to be a serial killer?

in Living World

Posted by: Weindrasi.3805

Weindrasi.3805

I seriously doubt this. Serial killers show sociopathic tendencies from an early age. Taimi’s desire to see Scarlet dead is nothing more than childish curiosity, or perhaps the need for closure. That desire is in no way unusual—I’m sure many people, young and old, wish they could have seen Scarlet dead.
If Taimi were a serial killer in the making, her emotions and behaviors would show it. Sociopaths do not feel empathy, love, or concern for others—and Taimi has shown all three in a genuine way. If she were hiding murderous tendencies, she would present very differently in the way she relates to the people around her. The signs just aren’t there.
Additionally, it should be noted that the trauma of Taimi losing her parents wouldn’t make her into a serial killer. Kids who grow up serial killers are often severely physically, emotionally, and sexually abused. Stuff like that just doesn’t fit into Taimi’s storyline. Now, Taimi may have been traumatized, and it may have left her with emotional problems—but nowhere near that extent.

This seems like a paranoid post to me. There will definitely be new areas to explore. Hashtags are poor evidence against the new zones displayed in the promo video, and the portal image given us. Obviously, Brisban will see changes, and Brisban is where we’ll initially begin the new Living Story—so of course it would be hashtagged, since it plays a role.
Arenanet has been heavily hinting at opening Maguuma to us ever since we killed Scarlet. Despite what some may argue, the company isn’t stupid. They know what the players expect, and they know the impact their pre-S2 information has had. They’ll deliver.
And, let’s be honest, we’re moving on to fight Dragon no.2. From a story perspective, Mordremoth is going to need its own corrupted zones, just as Zhaitan had Orr.
At the end of the day, I know it’s popular to speculate on what horrible thing the devs will do next, what corners they’ll cut out of soulless greed—but they do care about lore, and they do want to expand the Guild Wars 2 world.

Pirates and Scarlet

in Sylvari

Posted by: Weindrasi.3805

Weindrasi.3805

I’d say they are either Dream sylvari or Soundless.
When Scarlet was connected to the dream, she worked with the Inquest and did a lot of morally awful things. Sylvari may start out ingrained with Ventari’s teachings, but as they go out into the world, they will form their own moral code based on their experience.
Nightmare Court are unique because they see themselves as liberators—they want to actively fight against the Ventari tablet and save their race from what they see as slavery.
Sylvari like Scarlet and the pirates, on the other hand, disagree with the tablet—but they don’t care whether others follow it or not. They’re out for themselves—Dream and Nightmare aren’t as important as personal gain. Scarlet said it best herself: “I reject the notion that that I must choose the Dream or be lost to Nightmare.” The place where Scarlet erred is that she assumed she was the only one who felt that way. In fact, many Sylvari feel that way.

Mordremoth's Corruption already present?

in Living World

Posted by: Weindrasi.3805

Weindrasi.3805

I agree with you except for one thing: I don’t think the Nightmare Court are corrupted by Mordremoth. They show a different aspect of the Sylvari dream, but they are protected from dragon corruption just as the Ventari sylvari are. Unless a sylvari willingly removes her protection the way Scarlet did in Omadd’s machine—then they are safe from dragon influence.
It is possible that Mordremoth could be using the Nightmare Court as cover. If the Court is working in unison with dragon minions, it is probably out of ignorance—which may be intended by Mordy. If people associate his minions with the Nightmare Court—or are simply too busy dealing with the Court to worry about it—then he can keep his presence hidden for a while longer.
That said, it could be that some Court sylvari—especially those who are discontent with the way Faolin runs things—will choose to submit their protection, and serve the dragon for want of power.

Theory: Centaurs in Maguuma

in Living World

Posted by: Weindrasi.3805

Weindrasi.3805

Are you sure they’re female? That pic looks very much like a male centaur to me.

The one in the picture is male, I believe, as that is the model used for Ventari. But there are some female centaurs amongst the Harathi (and Modniir I think). But they had female voices… What’s weird amongst the Modniir is that there are some with female voices but male-like models, iirc. For both Modniir and Harathi, there are male and female of each type of unit. So you’ll have male Modniir Hunters and female Modniir Hunters for example.

Anyways, centaurs in the Maguuma would not be surprising given the fact that in GW1 there was a tribe – which we now know as the Harathi – living in what is now the Maguuma Wastes. It wouldn’t be impossible if some tribes of the Harathi had managed to escape the Modniir’s dominance. Whether they’re hostile or peaceful is anyone’s guess but since the hostility is very old, they’re either descendants of Ventari’s teachings (which would be weird given the lack of mention of them – but not impossible since he was originally further west than what is now the Grove), or they’re hostile. I can’t see any other option there.

Nah, it’s definitely female. Sex/Gender dimorphism among the Modniir is much more subtle then it is among the Harathi.
Harathi seem to have no gender roles—so they have male and female models of the same profession (tramplers, ect.). Modniir, on the other hand, do seem to have gender roles—all the magic users and warriors are male, while all the hunters/rangers are female. Modniir dimorphism is similar to Ogre dimorphism—the females cover their chests, and have slimmer torsos. That said, you’re correct that Ventari uses that model. I imagine it’s an oversight on the part of the devs—that or Ventari was ultra-feminine haha.
I agree that it’s unlikely there would be peaceful centaurs. However, if the Maguuma centaurs are separate from the armies ruled by the Modniir, they may be willing to work with us if forced to it—perhaps to combat Mordremoth’s minions, or Modniir who would enslave them. Perhaps we’ll see a centaur character similar to Zhed from Nightfall.
It’s also possible that Mordemoth will corrupt the Maguuma centaur population, and/or they’ll be having interactions with the bandits who infest Brisban—whether those interactions are hostile or friendly.

The issue with rising Gem prices

I was considering transferring my gold to gems for a gemstore purchase today, but when I saw the exchange rate—over 10g for 100 gems—I realized it has gotten to the point that I will never be able to afford the gemstore.
I’m not wealthy—not in real life, and not in the game. I am not comfortable throwing my paycheck into a game to get game-items, when I need things like food, clothing, and the ability to pay my college tuition.
In the game, my goal is to have fun and relax. I don’t want to spend hours grinding to get gold for the gemstore. I don’t want to play the trading post. I want to enjoy myself. Yet, it seems that enjoying myself comes at a cost—all those neat-looking shiny items will be unobtainable for me. And I find that unfair.
I’m not asking for a legendary. I’m just asking that some nice things stay within my reach. Like making a gemstore purchase from time to time. I am not sure how, or if, arenanet will work to do something about this—but I think I’m not the only one who feels this way.

While I was battling centaurs in Harathi Hinterlands, I noticed that an old bug has been fixed.
The Modniir Hunters are female, but since launch they have had male voices and used male battle grunts. While their voices are still male, the battle grunts have been fixed, and are now female.
This is a small bug which has gone unnoticed since launch. It does not affect gameplay quality. So why has arenanet fixed it now? The fix coincides with the announcement of LS Season 2.
From Guild Wars 1, we know that the Maguuma was heavily populated by centaurs. Taking that, and this bug fix, into consideration, I think the centaurs could play a major role as we get new maps and living story in Maguuma.
Other “villain” groups—the Krait, Nightmare Court, Flame Legion, Sons of Svanir, ect have gotten comparatively much more attention then the centaurs—yet the centaurs are a large force. It makes sense they would have a place in the upcoming story.

Female charr Ancestral Outfit

This is ridiculous. It is clear that the male armor was modeled especially for the charr, but then female charr don’t even get it. They even have the big breast-hole hanging in the middle of their chests!
I can understand giving gendered armor to charr in some cases—for instance, the wintersday dress is hilarious. But beyond comic relief, there’s no point. Please change this—it isn’t fair to female charr players that the male charr gets a tail-customized outfit and the female gets a dress with a breast hole.

Do Sylvari actually have sexuality?

Weindrasi.3805

Are Sylvari sexual beings? Do they actually seek out other beings due to a physical attraction, or is it all emotional(/spiritual?)?

Sylvari are not virginal flowers. The answer is yes, Sylvari love and lust the same as other races. It’s just that none of them are “straight” or “gay”—they are physically attracted to one another, but it’s not based on sex/gender, since sylvari don’t reproduce.

If they are sexual beings, then what biological purpose would that serve when the Sylvari reproduce from a matriarchal being?

There is no biological purpose. Sylvari have boy and girl parts on the outside, but no reproductive organs on the inside. They have sex because it feels good, and because it lets them bond with their lover.

On that note, would any kind of sexual attraction between Sylvari be a from of incest?
No, not as we understand it. Incest is taboo because it produces deformed or otherwise unhealthy children. In a society that relies on reproduction to survive, that is to be avoided. But since sylvari don’t have children, there’s no such thing as incest in their society.
It is unlikely for Sylvari twins (two sylvari from the same pod) to be sexually attracted to one another—but even if they were, it wouldn’t matter, since they can’t reproduce.

Female Light Armor Leggings -- All skirts?

Female characters in most games get the short end of the skimpy stick – guaranteed if a female is playable in any game she either has skirts or 99% of her armor is disturbingly skimpy or both. As a female player, yeah it’s very annoying- why do male characters mostly get full body armor while the female “the most important parts of her body” are covered – chest & butt- the rest though just show because you know, it’s so much better that way sarcasm

GW1 had a pretty reasonable balance.
For example you could have a monk with one of the the super skimpy tattoo sets or you could have one that is very conservative. There were also ones in between. More or less the case for all the other classes too. Except Dervish and Paragon. Those were all “meh”.

GW1 had no balance at all XD. Monks had some covering clothing, but most female classes had virtually none.
“Sexy” clothing isn’t all about showing skin. An armor set can cover a woman’s entire body, but if it’s skin tight and shows the shape of her bum and breasts—as if she were naked—then it’s still “sexy”. Almost all the GW1 sets either showed a ton of skin, or were skin-tight.

Most females are dudes IRL , skirts are better to look at.

That’s a foolish statement.
First, you assume that there isn’t a significant female player base for Guild Wars 2. In fact, there are a large number of female players. Do they outnumber male players? No. But they are a significant customer group. In this day and age, it’s inaccurate to assume that female character=male player.
Second, you act like all males share your opinion about skirts. Some males prefer skirts, some males prefer pants. Whether the guys in question want a realistic character, or a sex doll, their personal images of said character will vary widely.

Honestly, who would NOT want more variety? :/

Not very often you see Flame Legion characters. I don’t have any myself, but it must make for interesting story and RP.

I only have a warrior who was taken from the Flame Citadel as a cub, and raised within The Black Citadel, so I don’t think he really counts. :L

Eh, the thing is unlike say the inquest or Sons of svanir (who can enter the capital freely and walk around, and maybe even other settlements if they behave and don’t do ANYTHING hostile)… Flame Legion pretty much are a kill on sight.

Shunned ex flame legion, or something slightly neutral I can believe… but full blown flame legion seems like it’d be a ‘villain/enemy’ character in RP, and not have that much opportunity…

BUT, I won’t yell at people for it, unless they actually went and said they have a flame legion character who is female and does stuff other then slave work/kitchen stuff.

Honestly, if someone were to come up with a good reason why, a flame female could be a legitimate character.
Perhaps a high ranking male in Flame Legion needs his spies to infiltrate the Black Citadel and gather information. If he were creative, he might decide to send in one of his trustworthy concubines.
Serving Flame Legion is the most unthinkable and disgusting thing a free charr woman could imagine. But a woman who has been brainwashed all her life could be a loyal spy. No one would ever suspect her.
While a female would never have any power in Flame, I’m sure the males will at times use them to get non-traditional tasks done.

Is the charr a dog or a cat?

in Charr

They are cats, actually.
It is confirmed in an interview that charr were designed based on the human fear of being devoured by big cats (lions, ect). However, big cats alone weren’t scary enough, so they gave them demon features and an affinity for fire—hell cats.

Tionvrath was the firstborn son of one of the Godforged. He was raised apart from his fellow cubs—specially groomed to be a Godforged in his father’s steps.
However, separation was lonely, and pleasing his father was a difficult task, so Tionvrath confided in his twin sister—a slave. He told her the secrets his father told him. He believed that no harm could come of confiding in a lowly female. He was wrong.
When it was discovered that Tionvrath had spoken Flame Legion secrets to a female, he was castrated and imprisoned in chains. Tionvrath became a slave, whose body was used to power Gaheron Baelfire’s magic. He grew up this way—in torment—and it drove him mad.
Tionvrath was rescued during an assault on the Flame Citadel, and forced into a Blood Legion warband. His legionnaire is a woman. In the depths of his madness, he considers it his d@m-nation. He once told a woman Flame Legion secrets. And so his God has punished him—to be enslaved to a woman. Yet, in his heart, he is still loyal to Flame.

My newest charr, Sezra Gorescourge
As a cub, Sezra was found wandering alone in Hellion Forest by an asura traveler. She was odd—frightening even, but the asura took pity on her and fed her. He allowed her to travel with him, planning to drop her off at the nearest charr outpost.
However, before they could leave the forest, they were attacked by spiders. Sezra watched, unconcerned, as a spider dragged the asura to its nest. The last thing the asura saw was Sezra, staring at him—ignoring his pleas for help.
Where she came from, no one knows. Her surname is Gorescourge, but more commonly, people call her Sezra the Spider—or just “the Spider”

Megaservers and RP

It honestly baffles me that some people are so hostile to roleplayers. I don’t roleplay, but I enjoy making up stories and backgrounds for my characters, and I’ve always admired the creativity of the roleplayers. How can someone NOT like people roleplaying around them? It makes the world feel more real. Sometimes, it’s fun to just stand out of the way and watch the stories unfold.

I’ve seen people say all sorts of mean, offensive, and plain idiotic things about roleplayers. And again, I don’t get it. It’s like hating a person because they prefer books over movies, or because they like the color green. Yet somehow, because roleplayers play the game different, that makes them worthy of bullying.

It really is a shame that the megaservers have made this particular community so vulnerable to trolling and bullying. Arenanet needs to do something about this.
