I personally think that exclusivity of stuff should stay relatively same over time. I understand that festivals are meant to be time-limited and I don’t mind that but:

1) All festival items should be available next year.

2) Effort needed to spend during the festival should be low.

I’m not saying that items should be easy to get, just that you should be able to work on them at your own pace.

I see the word “exclusive” being thrown around a lot in this forums. Fact of the matter is, nothing about raiding is exclusive.

The idea of “exclusive” is not that it would be impossible to do or get something. The idea is that there are requirements. And raid definitely has some requirements, especially on pugs.

In my opinion:

  • Nerf ascended/legendary to exotic level.
  • Add attribute/rune/sigil swapping to ascended.
  • Swapping requires things unlocked (some way).
  • Make ascended soulbound on equip.
  • Add a mystic force recipe to make ascended gear account bound (so they can be transfered).
  • Add a free rune/sigil swapping to Legendaries.

Play the game, not the inventory.

Also, posting that doing mindless farm gets better gold/hr is totally pointless. If all you care about is gold/hr why not just do the super boring farms you all compare raids to? Oh thats right, they are boring and THATS why they have so much value. Farming trees is worth a lot because, WE THE PLAYERS, find it boring so the supply is low. ANet doesn’t set those TP prices, we set them with our decision to play fun content over boring farm.

Developers actually control all of this. They create demand with new stuff. They decide droprates, etc.

Now that’s completely messed up. I’m literally saying that top tier food is way too overpriced. How are you able to twist that to “food price is completely fine”?

Your first comment on the matter was simply “don’t use expensive food”, this isn’t an alternative and shouldn’t be considered one. The food is way too expensive and should be looked at again by everyone’s favorite economist. I assumed you were completely fine with it being expensive because your only suggestion was not to use it, you didn’t say much of anything about how you think it should fit into the game or how to fix the matter you said just simply “don’t use it” and you still haven’t responded to where you think Best in slot food should be used if not raids.

You haven’t even commented on anything I brought up other than your victim complex though so I’m done replying.

The post you quoted already covers all of this. You seem bit hostile. Have I offended you in some way? If yes, I apologize.

Anyways this topic is about raid rewards, not consumable costs. As fishball said, even without consumable costs rewards are lacking.

Yes, food prices are overly expensive because of some recipes. But they are also expensive because everyone keeps using them. If people used them only when absolutely needed (record runs, showing off, wiping at 1%) then the prices would be much more tolerable. Unfortunately most guides tell you to use top food so you can feel optimal and good.

I’m pretty sure 1-2 hours was for high end guilds. I doubt first timers would get past ooze puzzle in an hour.

I read it. And I stated you only knew what to do because you were with an experienced group. Is that not true? Or are you referring to something else?

The biggest thing with dungeons when they first came out was not their difficulty, it was player skill. Everyone was new. That’s not the case anymore. There are many skilled players that took dozens of attempts to get through each raid boss. Bring a new dungeon to the game now that’s on part with any of the current dungeons and it will be completed within the hour.

Whether I beat Gorseval on second try is a completely anectodal evidence. Discussing about it won’t get us any further.

Dungeons weren’t hard just because people were new. They were hard because people were new to that kind of a gameplay. People started with open world PvE. They were able to beat that with bad builds and bad gameplay. Then they enter dungeons and get completely wrecked. People had to gear better and learn some basic rotations, buffs, etc., perhaps even dodging. So people improve and beat dungeons easily. Then they enter raids and get completely wrecked. So what happens then?

I say people will be able to improve and get even better builds. They get some ascended pieces, use consumables, learn to move out of AoEs and so on. And then, they will be able to beat current raids easily. You say most people won’t get good enough. Only time will tell.

The reason why I think raids are easy is because I already have the required experience. I have done lots of solos, even some where I rely on mobility. It’s not a problem for me to look at the boss and see what he is doing or move out of AoEs. Average dungeon runner won’t have this experience, yet.

So 2% more condition duration and 10 more condition damage drops your lupi kill time by 30 seconds? I find that really hard to believe.

We’re talking about changing a sigil here, swapping in 6% condi damage sigil instead of 10% duration since I could get that from a toxic focusing crystal. If you’re using anything less than 20% condi duration food your just losing damage for no reason at all it cost’s like 20s or something at most. The other alternatives aren’t that great and I wouldn’t use them for raids at all. It’s like when a ps warrior is only using phalanx strength without using golden fried dumplings or a strength sigil, he’ll average around 18 might and it will drop below that, the only time he’ll hit 25 is through a hundred blades and so whirlwind, so that means if the ps warrior is the main source of might everyone else his 5 targets including himself are losing 35might stacks, that means big cooldowns are getting used and they are not doing as much dps as they should be, if you start relying on other players and the ps warrior for might it mean’s they will be dropping damage in their rotation to stack might, engi’s will have to start stacking up might in their firebombs which will certainly lose dps since all of there blasts take a long time to cast and are mainly power pased so it’s a dps loss.

This is just 2 examples but if just doesn’t make any sense to me why you would voluntarily drop damage just to save a few gold. Especially when that damage could be the fraction of a bosses hp between a kill, it would more than make up for the cost.

As I said before, if you want to waste gold feel free to do that.

Yes, sometimes there is no cheap alternative. Then you just have to bite the bullet and spend gold.

Where are you getting your PS warrior might numbers?

When I did AC first time my group spent like 2 hours on Kholer until we quit. When I did Gorseval first time we got it on second try.

Not to mention a huge amount of topics complaning about too hard dungeon difficulty and oneshots.

And now dieing in AC is virtually unheard of. You were A.) new to the game back then and B.) didn’t know how to dodge the one attack that can actually kill you. Had you the experience as you do now back then, you would have noticed his obvious 1-shot tell and easily completed that dungeon. Even if you didn’t know faceroll stacking is enough to beat any dungeon. It doesn’t matter how old raids become, they will never be as explotable and as easy as dungeons. Because they have mechanics that require good team coordination and a skilled dps rotation.

While the raid bosses will always give a risk of death regardless how experienced you are. Because 1 person on team failing means whole team fails.

Gorseval on second try? Sorry, that’s bs. Unless you were carried by 9 very experienced players. Unless all ten of the people on your team have the raid boss memorized, you’re not beating gorseval on second try. A skilled raid group without experience on the boss would take far, far more than two tries. And even if you do have it memorized, so many things can go wrong in that fight. Like gliders not deploying or orbs in terrible spots.

Dungeons are now 3 years old. I suggest we get back to this once the first raid wing is 3 years old. If not, let’s keep the comparison fair and compare 1 month old raids to 1 month old dungeons.

I have never stated that raids are as easy as dungeons. That’s clearly not true. However wait several months until people get more experienced and they should be easily puggable. At some point I’m sure people can 9- or even 8-man raids smoothly. At that point having 2 useless players won’t make a big difference.

Yes, the 9 other players had done the fight before. Yes, I had no idea what I was supposed to do when I was told “you go bottom right”. Yes, I got constantly knocked for not dodging. Yes, I walked to orbs and died horribly.

But on the second try? I knew what I was supposed to do. I knew when to dodge. I knew what orbs and eggs do. It’s not really that hard.

Also what is this coordination people are talking about? For me it seems that you have a pre-defined role and then you execute it without really caring what others do.

So 2% more condition duration and 10 more condition damage drops your lupi kill time by 30 seconds? I find that really hard to believe.

High end food is only a 1-2% damage increase depending on how cheap you want to be. One person using it makes it like a 0.1-0.2% difference. The boss lasts 1 second longer?

If you need to use expensive food to beat raids then you have far bigger l2p issues than the performance loss from a cheap food. But feel free to waste your gold.

If your party is experienced at the boss fight and can kill it easily, sure they can use cheap food. However if trying for a first kill every little bit helps. Given how often groups beat a boss with several or all people downed, I expect everyone to use good food for that extra 1%. There’s been many occasions where a group beat Gorseval 1 second before world eater finished. If someone was using cheap food there, gg no awesome victory, try again.

You can also just play better or use a better group composition.

So do you guys also use Extended Potion of Ghost Slaying against Gorseval?

Don’t use expensive food.

A tad rude to the rest of your raid party, don’t you think? :P

If your party constantly wipes at 1-2% health, then it’s rude.

This logic only works if you’re the only one using cheap food. But even then it DOESN’T work because your cheap food is making every phase last longer, creating more chances for failure than just at the very end.

Also causing even ONE wipe because of cheap food is rude.

Weekly reward system is a very good way to repel speedrun meta. Since you only get rewarded once, doing it fast isn’t a priority.

But current system doesn’t work good. More content or better rewards for repeating runs are needed. Also it wouldn’t hurt if you got better rewards when half of the group hasn’t done the boss yet (and you have).

Breakbar facts

Wethospu.6437

Disclaimer: Different enemies have different breakbars. Following info only applies to standard dungeon/fractal bosses.

Since raw values are not known, I will use percentiles (total strength is 100%). The breakbar ticks every 0.24 seconds recharging 1.2% (5% per second).

Breaking the bar stuns and increases damage taken by 50% (both direct and condition) for 5 seconds and gives control immunity until the bar fully recharges (20 s). This means +12.5% party-wide damage if you instantly break it after recharge.

Conditions:

  • Fear: -4% per tick. -16.67% per second.
  • Taunt: -3% per tick. -12.5% per second.
  • Immobilize: -2% per tick. -8.33% per second.
  • Slow: -2% per tick. -8.33% per second.
  • Chilled: -1.33% per tick. -5.54% per second.
  • Blind: -0.8% per tick. -3.33% per second.
  • Weakness: -0.8% per tick. -3.33% per second.
  • Crippled: -0.6% per tick. -2.5% per second.

Hard control:

  • Daze, Knockback, Knockdown, Launch, Pull, Stun, Transform: -16.67% * duration.
  • Stone (Basilisk Venom): -25% * duration.
  • Ice (Deep Freeze): -10% * duration.
  • Ward (Ring of Warding): -25% per pass.

Skill details:

  • Headshot (0.25 s daze): -16.67%.
  • Gale (2×2 s knockdown): -66.7%.
  • Knockbacks (1.5 s, -25%): Gust, Kick
  • Short launches (2.32 s, -38.7%): Banish, Stomp.
  • Long launches (3.32 s, -55.3%): Wild Blow, Updraft.
  • Pulls (1.5 s, -25%): Scorpion Wire, Into the Void.
  • Short transform (3 s, -50%): Toss Elixir X.
  • Long transform (10 s, -166.7%): Signet of Humility.

Other facts:

  • Sigil of Paralyzation works (increased stun duration)
  • Pull distance doesn’t matter
  • Enemy actions (attacking / movement) don’t matter

Other enemies (compared to fractal bosses):

  • Mordrem Guard Punisher: Bar 16.7%. Regen 0% per tick. Breaking causes 5 s stun and exposed.
  • Champion Mushroom Emperor: Bar 100%. Regen 0.24% per tick (1% per second). Breaking causes 3.75 s stun and 15 s immunity (recharges 1.6% per tick, 6.67% per second).

Break Bars

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Wethospu.6437

Knockdown = Stun = Daze = Fear. Most bars equal ~6 seconds of these.

Golem hits multiple times which makes it nice because I doubt breakbars care when cc overlaps. Launch and knockback seemed highly inconsistent so no idea about those.

6 seconds of stun took about 19.75 seconds to regenerate. This matches with breaking the bar causing 5 seconds of stun and 50% more damage, which ends when bar has regenerated ~25%. So regeneration is ~5% per second.

Counted time from using 7 seconds of immobilize to fully regen the bar. Then used 3 seconds of immobilize with other conditions to count their strength.

  • Immobilize: -~8% per second.
  • Chilled: -~5% per second (however slightly stronger than the regen).
  • Weakness: -~4% per second.
  • Blind: -~3% per second.
  • Crippled: -~2.5% per second.

If anyone has read reddit and wonders whether immobilize or chilled work better when the target is moving or whether blind works better when enemy attacks. Well, I have yet to see any difference.

If you don’t mind helping my cause. Not sure what is with that dude but he likes to spread misinformation and just downvotes anyone he disagrees with.

Anyways, once we can see exact defiance amounts, it will be really easy to verify everything.
