2015-2016
Fort Aspenwood
Stop being creative and just make the PVP dailies as generic and boring as possible.
Win 1 game, play 3 matches, kill(assist or whatever counts) an enemy, gain rank points, complete 1 reward of a reward track. None of those dailies actively encourage you to do things that cause your team to have a lower chance of winning.
So you want gates and I to submit a report stating that the players want very dull and boring daily’s? That’s going to go over well…. Why not just delete pvp dailys all together since you can make an argument that any of the pvp dailys is ruining someones pvp experience?
PvP Capture, oh no everyone on red is at home instead of capturing other points.
Daily PvP Player kills, oh no everyone is spawn camping instead of capturing points.
Ok so we have 1 replacement solution
- Play X amount of pvp match
should it be just play or play and win?
If just play, should be something like 5 games?
If play and win, should it be 3 games & 3 wins?
Should those win be in ranked or unranked?
If unranked, does practice count?
What about the other daily?
I was thinking something like:
Play 1 game of Death Match
or
Play 1 game of Stronghold
Brilliant suggestions, I’ll give some of those a try.
Thank you for your guys time
How would that be any different then x profession?
You are going to have people who aren’t good at pvp or aren’t ready for rated games playing rated games.Again, those are just ideas i’m tossing out to start brain storming.
The easiest solution is to just remove dailies 100% from pvp, but then the whole “pvp gets no love” chants will start up.
It would be different from “play & win as X/Y profession” because it doesn’t restrict players to playing X/Y class in pvp. They’re free to play whatever class suits their style and comfortable at playing. 9 choice options will always provide better variety than just 2. It prevents artificial scaling of profession stacking, there will always still be class stacking but certainly not elevated because of dailies.
We already have numerous first timers playing Unranked (or Ranked in some cases). Practice should remain as the word defines as practice. I haven’t encounter events where practice counts towards scores, e.g. Practice matches, or scrims. A rated match would include both Unranked and Ranked, it doesn’t have to affect their leaderboard rankings.
Edit:
The question then remains, was it really necessary to promote players to try new professions? Won’t people already play a new class if they liked that class’ mechanics? Is the promotion for people to expand beyond 1-2 professions better than a balance in the matchmaking? Won’t the unfamiliar environment of people playing a new profession cause more harm than the good?
fair enough
Just tossing a couple out there to think about:
1) Daily Medic (Revive 3 people in pvp)
2) Daily Specialist (Obtain points via special means [killing svanir/ sky hammer/ scoring an orb/ using the trebuchet])That’ll just skew PvP gameplay unnecessarily. Sometimes, you already have 3 players standing on the same empty node just to get the daily done. It’s not going to be any better getting people to go kill the beast or use the map’s mechanic assists as players would end up camping that particular area instead of conquest objectives.
How hard is it to just make it win 2 rated matches? This would include all map modes of Stronghold, Conquest and Deathmatch in Unranked. It can’t get farmed in arenas/practice.

Total ap from dungeons only: 432
(Dungeons AP tab & Aetherblade tab)
Not counting collections since you can get those done via pvp.
If they are a GW1 veteran player, the hall of monuments section alone offsets the loss of that ap with 68 ap to spare.
As stated, the mega server system has sort of eliminated the unique tagging that each server had. The only real thing that servers matter for is World vs World.
There are still some social tagging of servers such as TC being known as the role players paradise.
I think it’s a mutual agreement with everyone that this daily has to go.
Question that still remains, is what should replace these?
With the class daily’s gone, you have two holes in the daily rotation.

Just curious,
For anyone who has broken any part of their hand (joints/ fingers/ etc.) what have you done to try to adapt with it? I completely destroyed my left ring finger and i’m finding PvP quite the pain (literally) to do with out being able to fully access all my keys at the same pace and accuracy i normally do.
Thanks!
The Super Explosive Finisher was from the gem store DURING Super Adventure Box. It MAY return when and IF the Super Adventure box returns.
gaile has said its a “when,” not an “if.” for what its worth. ><.
She did.
To me, it’s more interchangeable.
Along the lines of: “When we get to the store” “If we get to the store, barring x,y, and z from happening.” Unless it’s a 100% absolute with a rough date, I list it as an if in my own books.
The Super Explosive Finisher was from the gem store DURING Super Adventure Box. It MAY return when and IF the Super Adventure box returns.
Since Revenant doesn’t swap weapons and can only have 2 legends, instead of having to change my keybinds can there be an option to toggle the Weapon Swap keybind to swap legends?
Would save some time when swapping between professions <3
I’m not certain on how things are going to be done, but i’d imagine that it would be similar to Elementalist or Engineer.
Lets try to turn this into a productive thread.
what can be done to try and aid the situation?
What about a player freeze for the winning team? No one can join that team until the losing team gets within 100 points.
Toss some ideas out and lets see where things go

soo pretty!!
What if someone is playing poorly? Or not ready for the ranked queue? Critique would help, yes?
The problem is, folks are so thin skinned that any critique is seen as “toxic”. There really are occasions when a teammate is useless and deserves some amount of instruction to avoid wasting people’s time.
I Agree that instruction is good; however, I do not believe that “newb go kill yourself” or “go find another game to play” are acceptable responses to a new player or someone who needs guidance on PvP with their class
For the most part, I tend to find Ranked to be way more toxic then unranked. With that being said, there is some grain of reason for the toxicity. When ever you introduce a reward(s) for something that is exclusive to a certain ladder, you will have some toxic elements to deal with. For most people, it would seem rather silly to be toxic over a mini or armor pieces but you do have some people who legit want to obtain them.
A lot of the toxic players I’ve ran into seem to be from other games. I’m not going to give those names but I assume it’s easy to guess which games they do come from.
The actual veteran loyal Guild Wars player base (guild wars prophecies – now) is actually very friendly and chill.
The best way to deal with it, as said above is to simply block or report them
(verbal abuse or spamming)
I do find it interesting with the idea on punishing overly toxic players, what are peoples thoughts and opinion on how it should and if it should be done?
Some states within the U.S. forbid minors from winning cash prizes of any sort.
This also applies to some countries as well.
You also have to put into consideration any promotions that Anet can use with
these type of tournaments. If they allow minors, you run into the issue of having
to get permission from their parents for any advertisements with their likeness.
Within the U.S. and other countries, minors can not legally agree to enter into a contract with out parental consent.
This is me speaking of course, what Anets actual reason is up to them to speak about.
Anybody explain to me why every mesmer ive met today has been able to blow me up in 2-5seconds today? ive not had any problems with mesmers recently now every mesmer seems to be god tier
Skimmed through the thread and i may have missed where you have said it but can you provide some more information?
What class are you playing?
What type of build are you using?
If you don’t want to share your build, what weapons?
Try to keep this civil and blur out peoples names :p
Granted, some of them may have it coming to them but still!
This is probably not the best place to report it

Sort of something my guildies and I have been talking about on and off for a while. I’m sure this idea has been brought up before.
What IF ranger pets inherited the legendary effects of their owners?
There footprints would be a smaller scale of their masters.
If there is an aura, they inherit the aura.
E.g.
Fern Hound whos master has Eternity
The fern hound would leave the Eternity footprints and will have the Eternity Aura.
Fern Hound whos master has Kudzu
The Fern Hound would leave small kudzu footprints

Leader boards were officially released on:
March 26th, 2013 during the Flame and Frost: The Razing
Keep in mind, since that patch, PvP has changed a lot within game and within the leader boards. You can view all the past releases in detail at:
Actually, I’m not very familiar with the role Forum Specialists have. If you distill a week’s worth of forum information into a report for ANet, that will probably really help them digest the pertinent information much better. Seems like a good idea to me.
Also, you probably shouldn’t set the precedent that you respond to “@Forum Specialist” threads, otherwise people will think that’s the only way you’ll listen to them. There’s a reason large communities often receive limited interaction from the developer (which I’m sure you’re aware (just pointing it out again)).
Thank you for the tip,
The main reason I responded was to clear up some of the confusion on what my job is within the pvp threads. As with all call out threads, I’ve requested that it be marked for closed as all players are able to do via the report function.
(edited by Wolfey.3407)
I’ve already submitted my weekly report back on Monday to cover the first few days on the job. I’ll submit another one on Monday as well to make sure all the posts on the weekend are covered.
Some things to remember:
1) The information I submit is for ANET to review, what they do with that information is up to them. My opinion or recommendation has no more weight than a person who just joined the game. I do not have any special tools or abilities just an email address to relay the information too.
2) Please do not post in this manner, if you feel a thread is being neglected, you can message me on the forums or in game. Everything needs to follow the forum rules and procedures.
3) Please do not do call out threads
Thank you and happy new year!
Oh hey its a forum Specialists o_o
I’m sure you’re going to get a lot of fan suggestions regarding what “needs” to be implemented. Sheesh you got your work cut out for you :P
:P I try my hardest to stay on top of everything.
Please do not do call out threads….

Would be nice if the effects were re-added
would also be nice if the sound file was updated to sound a little more distinct
Crimson Lion Warhorn shouldn’t be the only one with an awesome sound!
Maybe a very distinctive pack of wolves howling,
You can probably remove a lot of negative feedback by explaining what your objective of posting this video was for
Feedback?
Showing off?
Start a discussion on a class/ build?
Try to stay on topic everyone
It’s true that there aren’t a lot of PvP dedicated streamers; however, there are a couple out there.
When you guys are talking about good pvp streamers, what all are you looking for?
Just their skills and credentials?
Streaming quality?
Entertainment value?
A mix of the above?
What do you guys think a good remedy for this would be?
Should this apply to Ranked & Unranked matches or just Ranked?
Mechanics need to be as similar as possible between ranked and unranked in order for unranked to be a viable form of practice.
True;however, you do have a more defined pyramid set up for pvp now
Practice → Unranked → Ranked
eh, too true, but why would a team want to really play unranked? There is nothing to show for on the leaderboard, and you don’t really have team against team matches, (I assume), that truely competitive teams want to play against, or even solo competitive players, for that matter.
For the most part, newly made teams would prefer to start off in unranked to learn each others play style and try to mesh as a unit before jumping into ranked games.
Sort of like in College Football (US/CAN) the good universities tend to play the smaller or unskilled universities in the first couple of weeks to see how well they mesh as a unit and to boost their morale.
What about giving people a reward for solely playing in the unranked queue? Like each person on their team voting for the best player and giving them a commendation for it? And more commendations, the more rewards they get. Then people would be more likely to try their best in unranked, besides the fact it might make a less toxic atmosphere and may have a better long term effect.
Playing Devils Advocate here:
4+1 v 3+1+1
4+1 wins
the team of 4 vote for someone on their premade party as mvp because they know them. That +1 person really does not have a chance, even if they do a better job then the other 4 people.
This is probably not the best place to report it

Gotta love it when you go to res an Ele and you get him/her up to 90% hp and they mistform away when there is no-one around.

What are peoples opinions on this?
Turrets, pets, undead, whatever. All these mechanics where you spawn an AI driven character into the world are going to keep these type of games out of the serious realm when it comes to PVP.
I think for the biggest realization of this came after about 1000 1v1 arena matches in Archeage. Call it gimmicky game, sure. But the point here is how much of an advantage the AI character gave.
-In context…
At some point during about month 2 of archeage players began using pets in 1v1 arena. This was frowned upon by many and somehow the overall shame factor of it caused the use of pets to die down. However, some observations made it clear that PVE does not belong in PVP, particularly in a tab targeting style game.
Clear cut reasons-
1. Tab targeting systems are never perfect and even the absolute best player’s are prone to hitting the AI character (pet, turret ect) with an attack that was 100% intended for the actual player. In 1v1 Archeage- at the top level, you would sometimes see the number one in the world players hit the little pet running around, its an easy mistake to make and can cost you the game.
2. AI character’s have one purpose- auto-attacking. This leaves me to believe that in the idea/brainstorming phase of development, ideas ran out and in order to add more diversity someone thought that injecting pve elements into the pvp elements would make the game more exiting. It doesn’t
Lets take a game like Dota 2 for example- it’s AI which is readily programmed to run across the map and auto attack can be manipulated in a way that is purposefully and carefully designed to add multiple elements to the gameplay experience- but any player spawn AI characters are controlled directly by the player- thus making them more or less and extra arm and leg for the player to control. Can you imagine if some class in Dota 2 could spawn self reliant AI characters? Would probably take away from the amount of skill involved in the game.
TL;DR too many player spawned, self reliant AI characters are being put into our pvp games.
How would you recommend doing something like this without destroying classes like:
-Ranger [Pets/Spirits]
-Necromancer [Minions]
-Mesmer [Illusions/ Phantasms]
To everyone else, don’t derail the thread please
For those who do not know what Jeff is referring too:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Resign
What are peoples thoughts?
What about on the winning teams end?
If a player does not score a kill or capture or anything for that matter, are they out of any real points or progression?
Should there be a time limit before one can use the /resign command?
What do you have in mind for tuning them down Kuzuryu?
Please stay on topic….
If you want to offer English lessons, please do so in another thread.
Welcome back to Guild Wars 2, a majority of what you have asked has been answered by GhOsT. I hope you enjoy your PvP experience
As most people know, equipping a legendary will change most of your attacks with a projectile to fit that weapons theme. I was just wondering why if you equipped Incinerator or Marjory’s Dagger, the skill doesn’t get the same treatment and throw out a bunch of Incinerators or little snakes. I personally can’t think of any reason other than lag caused by it or just the annoyance the sound of the Incinerator when its a projectile.
Snakeado?
Inferno/Fire Devil/ Fireado/ Fire Whirl?
Awesome idea actually lol
Can you elaborate a little? What type of warrior are you running or what type of build would said warrior be running :P?
It would be nice to have something to do while waiting for a queue to pop; however, what would happen if a queue were to pop in the middle of a duel? Does that duel become a forfeit? Does a timer kick off?
If you do not mind me asking, what is your pvp rank?
Did you queue up or did he?
I’m sorry to hear that he didn’t have a good first go around with pvp, hopefully he continues to play!
I’m not sure threads should be done in this style….
It’s ok to not like a build but lets create a constructive
and somewhat positive thread on how to handle the build.
Maybe some tips and advice on how to counter?
Alternative builds for engineers to run?
Constructive feedback for anet to handle more than one metabuild within a match.
Good luck wolfey!!
You too, as well as everyone else who was selected.
If you ever have questions, feel free to hit me up in game or on here :P
