“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
Unless you go into detail and possibly post videos, we are discussing thin air.
@ Zacchary
Stealthed players can: scout and report position of enemy zergs (wvw), ress allies, stomp downed enemies, place down traps (wvw), all of this while not needing to interrupt stealth. They could potentially interrupt their stealth for a brief 4 seconds to down low-hp enemies with a quick backstab-heartseeker. Useless much?
What you wish for may not be what everyone wishes for.
Structured PvP , especially tournaments, has two or three builds per class that are definitely better then the rest and, bar minor personal adjustements, you will be expected to play those if you mean to play seriously. For example, 95% of the Guardians in tournaments play as bunkers (tanks). Now when you form a team with people you know, you’ll get a lot more variety being able to change from “cookie-cutter” builds to buids that complement your party.
For PvE, personal skill matters a lot more than equip, class or build. Nobody will ever question your build as long as you are not speedrunning, or always dead. There are of course right choices, and wrong choices, so don’t fool yourself into thinking every build is good because certain traits and weapons/utilities flat out suck (I’m looking at you Guardian’s spirit weapons ).
I very well understand your boredom, but harder dungeons seem to be low on their priority list. Not surprising when half of the population finds new AC too hard.
As for dull bosses, HP sponges and whatnot, they are working on it but didn’t change much apart from an encounter in CoF p2 and new AC for some reason
On an slightly unrelated note, new steampunk-ish armor skins have been datamined! Hooray for new armors!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/New-Armor-Sets-1/first
Staff is a must in WvW especially if use Altruistic Healing. Not only for swiftness, but for Empower and it’s autoattack. So replacing it with an Hammer is out of question, in my opinion.
As for greatsword vs hammer, I tend to use both and swap them based on the situation. Zerg fights really benefit from hammer blast finisher, while greatsword retaliation and higher mobility help with smaller scale combat.
It’s not much I know, but I really believe they’re both good choices for WvW
P.s. It would be really great if you didn’t rely on Retreat for swiftness as Guardians utilities are very valuable in WvW. Replace it with Wall of Reflection, Hold the Line, Sanctuary or Stand Your Ground as no other class has such good utilities for WvW.

Ascended food buffs.
Gives about 500 stat points, lasts half an hour, costs about 3g to make.
Arenanet hire me!!!
1) It’s different from dungeon path to dungeon path but it’s really a matter of perception. People mastering this game’s mechanics and classes will find most of them easy, people less proficient will find them kittene of the hardest bosses in the game, Giganticus Lupicus from Arah, has been soloed with different classes, but I’m certain that 90% of the groups that have tried Arah got stomped by him at least three times.
2) Partially true. It won’t be easy to finda groups for most story mode dungeons because players are expected to play them only once to unlock explorable mode. You might also have to give up on doing some group events in unpopular zones, which is a shame. Anyways, if you are interested in them, just ask for people in map or guild chat, I’ve managed to do one of the less rewarding events in the game (Blood Witch) by simply asking around in /m
3) No grind for content, unless you consider cool looking skins content. Nobody will ever gear check you unless you are doing a speed run, or high level of fractals which require a special resistance. Lower levels of fractals are basically easier versions of higher levels, so the content is the basically the same.
4) Zero. Pay2win fits GW2 as “great game” fits “battleship the videogame”. The only 2 things that come close to being “required” are additional character slots and bank tabs. And did you know that you can buy anything on the cash shop with in-game earned gold?
5) I really don’t know, all I can say I’m personally satisfied although things could be better.
risen knight is not only found in rich dragon coffers, but I don’t expect people to have a clue on what they are saying.
Thanks Arenanet, appreciate it.

It may sound new to you, but many players believe thieves aren’t a good choice for supporting people.
Also manners, get some.
Thanks for sharing OP.
Yes, when you dye your armor red you should get fire resistance.
Arenanet hire this man.
Edit:
Molten Alliance mining pick should give you 10% reduction in fire damage taken.

DR existed before January.
I never hit that and I haven’t had anyone hit it in my (small) guild. So I’m terribly sorry for you and while I don’t doubt that your problem exists, my (fallacious) experience tells me that the problem is not as widespread as you seem to imply.
I would like have liked the GW2 we had up until January. That’s when they started with all these nerfs and anti-farm initiatives.
Yes, like the guaranteed yellows on world bosses and 200% MF in Southsun!!!
Blasted NCsoft and it’s cash-cow conspiracy!
Have you done every dungeon path? Have you gotten 100% map exploration? Have you conquered all the temples, killed every world boss? Done all jumping puzzles? Done most of the guild missions and equipped at least 1 character with all the available ascendeds?
If yes:
Congratulations! You have done all the PvE content the game has to offer! It probably took some time too, and since I know we’re both very reasonable players I don’t need to tell you that content takes a lot of time to create and that no game will ever have “enough” content for dedicated players unless it introduces grinds and time sinks.
If no:
Go do all of that then come back!
Closing in, I’d like you to post what would you consider a good endgame. Please, I seriously beg you to enlighten me.
Is that guild roaming as five – ten players? Scariest force in WvW.
P.s. kittened filter.
Also the “exploiting” and grind isn´t just some stupid hivemind defect that we “the elite smell-the-pixels players” just can´t abide.
It´s actually a healthy and natural reaction(true emergent gameplay) to overly tedious and outright broken or lazily programmed game mechanics.
Or do YOU have a frikken idea how to kill that one bell in the bound-giant fractal without standing in the one spot free of those ridiculous AOEs while the adds constantly spawn.Polish > Hype
That’s not really exploiting, I believe it’s intended for us to fight in those spots. I think the OP is refering to stupidly cheap tactics like bugging bosses that could be 2-manned ( Mossman anyone? ) because you can’t be bothered to actually fight them and would rather get to the sweet sweet rewards as fast as possible.
I feel your pain OP, but I don’t think we should blame it on the devs. I blame it on the huge chunk of the playerbase that seems only interested in doing whatever is the fastest way to get money to buy skins (lol?). And don’t start bullkittenting me on "challenging " or “interesting” content because there’s loads of it left untouched by most. I know two guildies whose entire playtime last month has been spent porting from meta-event to meta event and completing dailies with the occasional cof p1…
Devs certainly pandered a little to this mentality, but we are the ones to blame.
On a positive note though, you can still do whatever you want with like-minded people, you just gotta find them. Yesterday me and a bunch of my friends explored Divinity’s Reach ( I had never done that properly in 9 months of playing! ) for almost 2 hours, being rewarded with nothing but the beautifull view of the Elonian district and some interesting lines from nearby NPCs. We were totally fine with that, and had fun while doing it. =)
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
See you sometimes, hopefully!!!
Oh, and how did you get your character to pose like that?
> Ranger
> Wants to duel
Let me guess, trap tankish condition damage, or tank BM build? I could go meditation Guardian but I don’t really think that will work. Let’s have a 3 vs 3 instead!
I don’t understand why we need to level each character to 80. shouldn’t it be enough to just level one character to 80, then all your alts can be 80 too?
it’s the same thing with WvW rank. getting it on one character should count as getting it on all your characters.
It is exactly the same thing, so they should be treated the same way.
ose to make WXP and rank points the same way.(snip)
-ken
Flawed analogy is flawed. WXP is more aking SPvP ranks for reason I shouldn’t bother explaining. Guess what, SPvP ranks are account bound.
Not to mention that leveling a character can take as less as 1 hour if you decide to craft your way up to level 80, while WXP ranks as mentioned take ages. Your solution of capping it at rank 40 but still allowing people to get ability points is, quite frankly, ridiculous. It’s not like having 200 skill points means anything, unlocking your utilities doesn’t take that much. Having 200 more ability points on the other hand…
And for the “fun” argument, I play for fun and play hundreds of hours of WvW even when ranks weren’t there, but I still believe having it account bound would only make it better.
Finally, people mistaking time sinks/grinds for things that are hard should really quit MMOs and play Megaman or Ghost and Goblins, hopefully understanding what difficulty means.
P.s. why are commander tags still character bound?
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
I do believe that having 3 national servers in the same matchup means that there’s a whole lot less players able to speak english, thus reducing the amount of posts and flames.
Anyways, this thread is boring. Someone post something interesting, Dayra not you.
So much drama from SFR because they are unable to compete on the same level…
Give us back Elona please, as least they were good competitors.
You and VS players like you are a joke.
Your basic leveling up experience will be exploring maps (there are multiple for each range of levels), completing hearts and doing events, with Personal Story missions every few levels and a dungeon each 10 levels starting from lv 30.
Hearts are similar to traditional quests but you often have different kinds of actions to achieve the same goal : you could help the local fishermen by killing dangerous drakes or by catching fishes, for example.
Events (orange UI) are sort of an innovative way of doing quests. Most of them aren’t started by talking to NPCs but are on a random timer or start happen particular conditions are met. Most maps also have big chain events called meta-events that end up with a huge boss fight.
Personal Story is a series of istanced missions that explain the main plot line of the game. Each character has different missions based on his choices, but variety diminishes a lot at high levels (60-80).
Dungeons have two modes: story mode is an easier version that tells the story of a group of heroes you will meet, while explorable modes are harder and generally meant for lv 80 players. I suggest you do story modes while leveling up, but keep in mind that dungeons in here are a lot harder than open PvE content.
GW2 has 2 PvP modes: Structured PvP, and World vs World.
Structured PvP is an entirely different gamemode in which everyone is automatically set in even footing : you are raised to lv 80 with everything unlocked and given the best in slot equipment. You can try it whenever you want but the start may be rough.
Joining World vs World raises you to level 80 but does nothing else to improve your performance: you’ll be able to do something but you won’t be nearly as strong as a lv 80.
Personal tip: don’t focus on leveling up fast, enjoy the ride. The game won’t change much at max level and you will have the same plethora of activities to choose from. Gear cap is relatively easy to obtain too, and isn’t overly important, so take a deep breath and immerse yourself in one of the best MMO worlds I’ve ever experienced.
Sorry for terrible formatting!

2 vs 2 VS beating my kitten
What the eff is going on here…
Certainly must be hackers.
What is that? Other servers saying exactly “what we have been saying for 6 months”? Must be some kind of conspiracy, clearly this is all in our minds! Vizunah is full of great small scale fighters, all of us just haven’t seen them because they’re sneaky.
Oh well, enough with the trash posts, I’ll try to be more constructive from now on.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
[snip]..but the 1on1 with vz are bad jokes until now..i hope i get some better the next days
got vz have some nice small scale guilds ? (=
I can tell from my experience (a total of 3 months playing against them) that they don’t, so don’t get too excited. I’ve had the grand total of 2-3 close and epic encounters in that whole time, but maybe things have changed recently?
Also keep in mind that it’s just my personal experience, so please french pride squadron leave me be.
I don’t know why but it looks hella boring to me. No offense OP and sorry for the poor feedback.
FML, not this again
You won’t see any distinction in game other than titles (that mean relatively little), but great commanders will be known server-wide if you WvW, and dedicated PvP players are high on the ladder. Would be cool to give people that have distinguished themselves in PvP unique rewards, but it seems that rewarding skill is really low in Arenanet’s priorities.
As far as competitiveness goes I’m afraid you’ll only find it in structured PvP. WvW matchups are largely decided by numbers and coverage, and PvE isn’t particularly hard unless you start wanting to solo bosses.
Edit: nevermind you found the ladder :P
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
You can see people’s achievement points by mousing over their portrait when in a party with them. Now if I’m not rude, why are you asking this…peculiar question?
P.s. Any title with “champion” followed by anything but slayer i.e. Champion Paragon or Champion Shadow indicate someone who’s quite proficient with his profession in PvP.
Yes please, account bound, with the ability to allocate points differently on each character. No reason to have such limitations, it’s not 2002 anymore. Reaching max rank takes a lot of time anyways.
I don’t play against VS anymore, thankfully.
Hey I got an idea, let’s turn this into an hidden VS bashing thread.
P.s. Watchu doing with screens 3+ months old from SFR?
We’ll miss you dearly…not.
QQ much? I’m a straight guy and I have no problems with the bow, in fact I’d even consider getting it if I was into legendaries. Realize that there’s different tastes and it just happens the bow doesn’t suit yours.
Edit:
Many sorries Guns and Giblets, didn’t mean to derail your thread.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
On the other hand, in PvE, GW2 removes a certain amount of players off your screen if it notices it’s too much for your computer to handle.
This is the Misinformation Police and sir, you are under arrest.
GW2’s removal of players on your screen, technically called “culling”, is a server-side issue and isn’t related in any way to your computer’s perfomances. Basically, you could have the best hardware in the world and the game would still cull the same amount of players on your screen.
You may now continue.
Buka plz don’t let me down I thought you were nice guys Well since we’re down to insults let me tell you that I expected more from you, and I’ll leave it at that.
What is up with borderland splitting btw?
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
LHound, how would that help alleviate “timer-camping” them? People already do it due to easy loot, and you want them to increase their loot? Add minis and special skins to dungeons I say!
Although I haven’t played the new event yet, I think meta-events, at least in zones 60+ should be interesting, if not somewhat challenging bosses that reward decent loot when killed. Unlocking merchants, areas or long-lasting effects on the whole zone are nice features too. In what part does it disappoint you OP?
Why is your TL;DR longer than the rest of your post?
The presence of a filter doesn’t justify swearing.
I am sorry but you guys were attacking our side towers from our spawn with 100-200
I was there and we were around 350-700 players to be precise.
Bah…

Please remove the name of the hacker from your posts as “naming and shaming” is forbidden on the forums and will get the thread closed. Just report the idiot through proper means and let other players know his name through pevepe/private messages.
To be honest I have always found Desolation the best server at countering roamers, at least in borderlands, because you always seem to have people escorting dolyaks and defending your camps while capturing ours at the same time. In fact back in T1 I used to roam VS side of the map which was usually empty despite our being outmanned, and had some fun at it.
Now that in t2 VS is replaced by Kodash and its greatly skilled players (Bookah comes to mind) I think I’ll take a break from roaming
I upvoted a post from Deniara…
Anyways, as a solo roamer I feel your pain Iaquito. Altough, as Deviara, I think we don’t see many roamers because of fear : as an SPvP player I have found that only a small percentage of WvWers know how to handle small scale combat without rolling over and dying an humiliating death.
I just wish my IRL friends hadn’t stopped playing and we could 3-5 man roam…only zergs can stop an efficient small group, and the things one could pull off when outnumbered make for great GW2 memories. But I’m going on a tangent here…
“Experience based " is your way of saying based on lazyness and bias? And you clearly stated that you haven’t really experienced PvP in this thread, but you forgot to mention it in your review. What a coincidence!
“sPVP – Players are randomly transferred to opposing team, friends and guildmates are forced to fight each other, group integrity is destroyed, hard work is lost by being transferred to losing team.”
Aahahah! You think sPvP is all about hotjoins…please get a clue!
3/10 for reviewing something you know nothing about.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
Why is every single WvW player on Desolation a Thief? :\
If you are not good at jumping puzzles or don’t enjoy them that’s all fine and dandy, you’re just one of many… but please avoid insulting the content and its creators by saying it’s horrible because really it isn’t :P
Anyways, as many have already told you there are 11 plants so you can skip the JP one and still get the achievement.
Every update has had a significant amount of new PvE content. As a PvP player primarily I feel a little ripped off (No duels, arenas, or different types of SPvP). As a PvE player you guys really have nothing to complain about though, everything is great besides the lack of raids.
Can’t +1 this enough.
Really, strictly-PvE people complaining of feeling unwelcomed really baffle me. The legendary, the most wanted luxury item in the game already consists of 99% PvE-farming and 1% WvW badges/map completion that can be gotten doing little to no PvP at all.
