well i don´t know but don´t play go to builds annyway :-).
I have a strenght/defence/berserker power warrior with GS / S/WH. surging + demolisher. Speedy and enough burst to kill fast. Plays well for me. No shield is a bit drawback in duels.
But i main ele annyways :-)
a full offensive build might go air/arcane/tempest. It would be more fluid and have more air overloads due to more swaps outside air.
Condi removal might be an issue, especially with low HP. Overloads with lower elemental CD´s is nice. I miss is a bit when using my fire build. You can opt classic maurauder here or you go full crazy glass with destroyer (don´t underestimate the condi potential). Leadership rune is a good choice too but the drains are tempting :-).
Here an offensive version. Less power but more protection uptime. For me protection is the key to ele survival.
Might try this one out myself :-). Fear it´s a squishball, but not shure with shocking auras, shield and OK protection. It´s not for long term servival.
it´s good. Now a player can get it better from playing without raid/guild groups.
What concerns me is that exactly this setup is common and when the already doomed team is higher in MMR a loss punishes even more for the system expecting them to win.

Blue is higher in total but will loose since it´s assumed the 5 can rotate and handle their class but the 2 just feeds points. The 8 also can´t win a 1:2.
But it´s a bit grey theory i don´t know exactly if the MM does this. I fear it does from how the matches somtimes feel. On tuesday my win´s felt like my team knew how to rotate and 1-2 oponentes were very good but two other acted like headless chickens. We totaly outplayed them on side nodes even with loosing most mid fights winning 200+
Who knows how any of it works. Not entirely sure Anet does either. It’s such a silly system that if a group of randoms loses a game, you lose rating no matter what. You can play like a God, be absolutely flawless in everything, win 1v2, win 1v3, doesn’t matter you still lose rating. A ridiculous and frustrating system.
To be fair, it is possible to carry in GW2, especially if you duoq. Try out OW (6v6) ranked – the way heroes and matches are designed you can be top player and still can’t carry in bronze there. GW2 is bit different story due to class design (CC, escapes, invuls etc. give you necessary time) – i bet Zan can win 1v4 in low ratings w/o breaking a sweat. Last seasons i could win 1v3 encounters as a thief in lower divisions. Last season i effectively won 1v4 match because 4 ppl on my team were afk all match on one point and never left it.
Whether player should be constantly forced to “hardcarry” to climb is different issue.
You can carry against bad players. I can 1:3 with my ele against rookies quite easy and will even down them.
But as soon as you oponents can play their class and know how to rotate you can´t carry. You win a duel if you are better but you won´t survive 1:2 and you won´t win the 2:2 with the bad player at your side, that dies on cleave or is down in 2 seconds after a DH pull. So if the oposing team has 5 average and you have 3 average one god and on victim, the team with the bad one is mostly doomed to loose even with total rating the same or slightly better.
Well then i hope i won´t need the forge :-)
Yeah… they get 200 for a win though, I get 13… and lose 17 on a loss. They don’t even have to play more than a couple of games to stay where they are. I’ll have to play several hundred to approach half of where they are at 10 games.
This would be a real problem. This would mean the first 10 matches decide who has a chance to get into top ranks in a resonable time. And those 10 matches are higly random …

Yes i would also like that top stats bring 1 point per Stat.
So you loose 15 points but have the top defender stat you will only loose 14 points.
Can be a bit tricky if the W/L points drop below 5 or lower.
An top death count brings you -1 ;-)
eh don´t try to take it serious. WvW is not made for it.
But a tryout event for fun :-). Would end in chaos and weaken defence seriously but i guess it´s worth for a week and no you don´t need invisible walls unless flying somwhere outside crashes the game …
If you will get/loose less and less points for more matches, then the placement is critical of how grindy your progress will be. I had 6:4 placement putting me in low silver a bit below 1200 and i don´t get good teams which will lead to something like 50:50.
As soon as the MM sends one useless player into your team, you can´t carry. Hopefully this stays rare.
well looks like an easy match for the eles ^^. I would just smile and send 3 ele mid letting the other rotate. When the DH´s try to force mid it´s GG. Don´t start game. Try to make a strategy … I know it´s not easy, some won´t listen …
and yes this MM is a sample of being bad. Should be 2:2 on each side for DH and one ele o nthe other …. Eavening out classes on each side should be considdered …
team composition is random and skills are largely spread at the moment.
I managed 6:4 in placement landed in lower silver and got 1:2. Most wins losses are triggered by lack of team coordiantion and/or a realy bad player in a team.
Many say carry but as soon as you oponent knows how to play you can´t carry realy bad players/trolls. They don´t know the map well, never heard about rotation, don´t read chat being busy handling ther character (dying annyway in 5 sec from cleave damage) and feed points.
well the new stats show are already good. I defended a point for about 2 minutes yesterday. First in 1:1 and then the engi got a +1 which finaly dowened me after another 30 seconds. I held the point till the end and got the defender. But it´s not much points. I would say this contributed a lot.
unfortunately i fear it realy needs a solid sample of 50+ or even 100 matches, and that should be with your best class+build to be accurate, till the MMR reflects your skill accurate enough. Ranked is not for total casuals i also overshot the 1k matches after one year and main one class 90%. But i don´t considder myself a hardcore Gw2 player, i usually play 1-3 matches a day with some days left out and some like tuesday more so i have an average of about 2-3/day. Thats roughly 30-60 minutes per day playing GW when i add WvW roaming. And yes with that speed i need over a month to reach the 100 matches.

I play it with scepter due to better positioning options. What i hate is if i see lots of condi oponents is that i should trait water for more group cleanses. And i also don´t like to be bound to soldier rune but i have the most solid experience/results with it …. Its the go to rune for tempest wit 4 shouts …. When i see no condi oponent (assumed which unfortunately is nearly always correct ^^) then i swap rune. Forge is a nice one i like with sage amulet. But one mesmer and 1-2 necromancer with the ocasional condi warrior is standard … sigh . Classic teams i fight are 1-2 DH and reaper , daredevil + druid/mesmer

Nope we are not back … We just started season and player pool has to sort out.
I am 4:4 after 8 games. The losses were a result of chaos spreading at mid match (and one rooky thief ..). I guess we can´t expect to have perfect matching and i don´t know how many matches need to be played till the systems gets it better …
I use chavalier weapon, knights armor and captain trinkets (zerk back) and can two shot a thief. (Did over 7k arch divider followed by 10k+ rush in zerk mode). So nope you don´t need berserker .. Dead is dead. -1k or -5k who cares … catch him in taunt on zerk swap and burst + strike him down. At least that is what i try :-).

hihi another ele that got top damage … happend to me yesterday … over 200k healing was not top a DH had more but i did about 30% of the teams damage geting the top score.
What says that about a team ….
In the end regardless if enough players are available you have to make a limit how much the highes and lowers rating in a team is apart. Say 500 points. So if the higest player is at 1500 the lowest cant be below 1000. Or you make a barrier like you can only play a CLASS in ranked PvP after 50 victories in unranked …
Also no. I expect this will be one of the best seasons. My concern is that some matches will be heavily influenced by low skill players that should practice 50+ more matches outside ranked. (be it new players or playing other classes they suck but are ranked to their main). I know adding a barrier of more matches before going ranked migh be discouraging for new players but it´s ranked and not new player/build training ground.
agree. Still some flaws left like per class MMR missing and mixing rookies with top players but it looks promising and i like the new system showing stats to the teams.
First tip would have been power warrior ^^.
I expect base sybol/meditation guardian will stand well. It depend also on your skill or class preference what to suggest. Base elementalist is not so bad for solo Q after the changes but more for experienced ele players. The higher your skill level the harder it will be without HOT.

You say ratings are not balanced out? I thought the matchmaker tries to generate even matches. Just the better you get the more worse you teammates might get to compensate your skill. With the drawback that very low players can´t be carried even by pvp god´s… You have a cance to climb if you play above your MMR but int´s just a chance due to being dependent on the team.
One problem is that two above average are stronger than one god + one rooky. Teh rooky will blow rotation and die on cleave and the god won´t win 1:2 on two decent players.
I have more trouble fighting symbol DH that don´t use LB. they are hard to kill. Trappers with LB are more cannon fodder …. And yes i get pulled too and might die if carless but i know i could have done better.
well lets go for team comparrison.

I say red wins. The 2000 can´t carry the 800 without comunication. Two average are better then a god + a rooky. Also one AFK is GG. There is the flaw. Also class MM.
I am a good example. My rating wil lbe measured on ele skill. When i swap class i will be placed much higer then i deserve with warrior or thief. I don´t play these clases due to that reason in ranked (only rare exceptions where i think its a benefit) but thats me and i expect many to swap around regardless fo class training.

Last one i got a thief on my side that constantly ran far and when seeing his movement i kew he did´t know the map well …. On thte other side most people i got paired with kew what they are doing. Unfortunately one bad player can cost you the match. There should be some threshold like 1k rating that splits the matchmaker in two sections. Up to 1k and the second for above or the entrance for rankes is higher with 100+ matches … when someone enters ranked i expect her/him to know what to do, handle his class and know the map. Till then train unranked.
And another loss yesterday totaly astounded me …
I play ele. I had over 200k healing … A guardian had more and i had 30% of the teams damage dealt being the top damage dealer … O_o

Hurt the player base ? I find it great and have no problem playing russians, chineese, US, south africans, or people from middle east…..
DH and Reapers multiple in each match … Followed by thiefs then i see a more engies and druids then the rest. Warrior, ele, mesmer about one each match. Only one revenant in 8 matchs yesterday XD. The good thing this one was good, he kew when to disengage and played a bit like a thief. Unforunately not on my side :-).
Season look promising. It motivates to play not to stop after reaching ruby like rest of the year …
Or you just make it a world wide pvp and we all play together ….
lots of training. :-). And staff is higher skill cap in pvp. Only met very few good staff ele´s in pvp. You need to control (forsee) enemy movements. Things like earth signet are good for staff.
oh yes i would love to get blinding ashes back to 5s ICD :-).
And woops.. this is it Frowny :-). I personaly also like arcane brilliance traited but glyph at 20s is top. Well maybe it´s time to test base ele again ….

Berserkers stance is extreamly valuable. I always run it in WvW and cleasing ire. These two are key. I even don´t use defy or endure pain…. I would only need them under heavy focus which should be avoided annyways in roaming.

As i wrote and Spartacus mentioned. Taunt is my weapon to kill them. Otherwise they reset most of the time. I prefer the trait over eternal champion i have 2-3 stunbreakers and another stab source anyways which prooved to be enough unless hopelessly outnumbered which i don´t count and have to run early enough annyway …
He will feel that when meeting competent warriors :-)

They was the biggest counter to Burn guard .
I will see that maining ele. Usually i did´t even feel a burn guardian to be anny threat. I guess that won´t change if i keep soldier rune and the bad thing is i spam the clears to my team. While i see that you will burn down many builds ele will neutralize you.
What 5 second passive does guardian have?
guess he means burn from passive virtue of justice.
I think scrapper and ele are mostly imune to this build…. Some other builds without constant clears might go up in flames :-)
OK invis is strange when traveler is used ….. so this might be scrapper then …
condi scrapper is strong but i meet them only ocasionally in PvP …

I main elemetalist and use power warrior als my main alt and guess i am average with it.
I can beat thief and somtimes even catch them. CC is your main weapon. And you need multiple because you can expect the thief to doge and mostly has bandits defence as stunbreaker. My experience is that i need 2-3 CC to get him.
My build is more personal and build to run fast and has a lot armor. We can discuss details in a PM or in game(TS). Last ambush was about 2-3 seconds and the thief was down. Shure it was perfect but warrior can do it. It was like bait dodge, bait stunbreak taunt with zerk 7k 10k dead …
i expect burn guardian …. It will be a bit like meditraper stomping lower levels. Could be devastating against all classes that can´t cleanse condies constantly.
Or they change it to give imunity to a specific condition. Bleed would fit ….
Simple and efficient.
I would make a mayor change. No out/in combat diffrence. Speed as out of combat and basicall you are in combat in WvW exept when in an uncontestet keep/tower or the base.
Always hated that get fast out of combat timer ….
Well we don´t know…. Of course the sheduler shall try to even out classes and duo team on both sides …. But we can assume it will be way better then we had ….
And i am happy to see a rev trying to kill me on ele and perish :-). They often say ups did´t expect that.
Revs are a good PvP class and the nerf won´t change that.
I would like to try it in an event for fun :-).
For shure wvw maps are not made for it but some crazy fun will emerge.
I feel it´s mostly a replacement for wanderer necros. For others it might be more stable if you have high protection uptime compared to wanderers.
rebound is weak for an but the best pvp elite for ele ….
instant cast + stunbreak would make it great. Also kitten cooldown.
