I mainly play with a friend 2 player roaming and use focus. I don´t trait water and use mainly the three other elements and swap throuh water often just firing one skill (i get regen from arcane traitline) . The shouts are enough support in this setup rest is kill and survive so much more offensive. Obsidian flesh as a savestomp is very valuable and air5 if someone goes into block mode is often a kill. Tried warhorn, but in fast fights against 1-3 players it´s to clunky and we avoid engaging 4+.
I got totaly surprised myself but I had this 7+ and 10+ hits in my log after looking why i downed him so fast …. It´s possible i had a few might stacks left because he jumped me after finishing a guard. Remember the damage boons: 10% bloody roar, 10% from not full endu, 20% after burst. And it´s 184% crit damage in zerk from blood reaction.
That´s why i question full zerk when in kill in two hits annyway…. Granted full zerk will do more average with the “Small” hits but the burst is so strong theres no need to doublekill a target ….

Actually dropping defy pain for something diffrent that gives group support would make sense for me. Elite is stronger then base and we should accept that. It´s not so bad if done right in the future making all elite balanced at each other.

It was build for roaming and to be running fast. I main ele and while i can stand longer in larger fights i can barely run away or catch. Also ele can´t burst as well.
This warrio is fast. I can run beside my thief friend.
Warhorn + pack rune and some boon duration for permaswiftness.
Traited GS
Sword2 and bull rush (also traited for 20% CD)
Stunbreaks + stability.
3 stunbreaks and stab from stomp proved to be sufficient in small scale combat.
Armor:
I have more armor then a zerk warrior after using rousing relsilience and thats permanent.
Condi removal.
Well no rousing = cleasing ire
berserk and the classic two resistance options including boon dur.
So barley have troubles.
Damage.
Here i don´t understand why berserker. I sacrifice defy pain to keep power up with armored attack.
And i hit dam hard. As example a thief. He seemed to be the classic maurauder d/p and got the drop on me with shadowstep. His damage was significant but he did hit over 3500 armor. I ignored condies hiting stance. Stun was not an issue and he dodged the headbut… then died
Swap zerk, taunt hit 7k+ arc divider, 10k+ rush down in less then a second since hasted from zerk. So why berserker gear? I have 10% bloody roar, 10% from strength, 20% after burst from strength and dodges hit hard too. PvE shure but here dead is dead :-).
CC. Headbut used as stunbreaker to coutner CC (not just blow it)
Bull rush. Gap closer that usualy baits dodge (or is mostly the end if hitting without being broken) There can be some nice surprises at combat start since i am running boonrip sigil and usually open with a sword leap before swaping.
Stomp: A bit get out of larger CC effects in group fights or as rezz/stomp breaker with stab for me.
Tount on zerk. Very good to secure arc divider hit for cleanse and regen. It´s the most dangerous second deciding the outcome if my oponent is cought.
Weaknesses compared to classic builds.
No endure/defy pain. This means less burst resistance. I notice it if focused which often kills me. As long as there are less then three oponents i don´t miss it.
Dodged march instead of warriors sprint. If cought in a bad moment with imob i can´t break immidiately, but usually i don´t notice due to resistance or condi removal. the extra regen pops with a good duration nicely.
Burst CD and burst master is not there. Might delay bursting slightly. But it does´t feel like a large gap.
5s swap. Since i fight with GS 90% of the time and second set is for running / opening and not damage a minor thing.
Fore shure i am not the most experienced warrior and i know discipline and endure pain are strong. I feel my build does it´s job very well and even better in some aspects.

Yeah. One thing i like on GW is that builds can counter each other. Yes skill makes a lot but it´s not guranteed to be deciding. I am a player that likes to build out of meta an counters. After a short playtime where my skill was quite low i built to counter zerker meta over a year ago. The result was that i could beat top players using meta power burst builds. I can remember that duel. I did see he is good using obstacles, doging key skills but he lost against me playing tactical smart using a counterbuild and his superior reflexes did´t help. On the other side my build got destroyed by rooki condi mesmer and necro. when i go into a duel arena with my ele i would know that i beat top players using something like power revenant but will loose against average warriors or mesmers. It´s even noticeable in class duels if build are largely diffrent.
Of course overal skill gets you more wins. I nearly 100% beat revenenants, but a few weeks ago i met one that was so good, i just lost the duels 0:5 … Maybe he also had a slight tweak from meta build. I don´t know.
I like duels no question and dueling grounds are a good thing, but ranked dueling makes no sense in GW2.

Intresting opinions. Bull rush mostly baits a dodge or stunbreaker. Yes the taunt is one of the key elements. I roam with this build (the exotic version) and i usually die if seriously outnumbered but not often in 1:1. I avoid anny zerg be it own or other. And it runs fast. Can´t remeber loosing against a thief. Maybe toughness is a waste but it seems to synergize quite well with the good health regeneration. Boon duration is not wastet on this build. Maybe the oponents i meet in WvW are just bad… But i am also not a very good warrior. Killed a druid, guardian and mesmer in 1:1. Lost against another berserker (he dodged arc divider quite well) after a longer fight and a druid shot me yesterday. So it doesn´t feel so bad…. And it is there to run fast even if it doesn´t excel in 1:1. For pure dueling i would pick mace or axe + shield as second set not a warhorn. Option would be traveller rune and change weapons ….
So it runs faster then most and can effectively burst down a target, but can loose against good players in longer fights if they dodge/block key skills well in which case i might run ….
While i would like 2:2, 3:3 and 4:4 scenarios added, I think dueling is just for training.
No problem. It´s realy a build to train ele an definitly works. But cele is very inefficient for it. I used giver weapons not carrion but both is OK. The better you are with ele the more you move away from rabid which is not good on ele if overused. After learing to utilize 4 elements you swap out fire for arcane, then go more cele and feel like a real ele ^^
GW is not overwatch. Beware throwing them into one pot.
GW needs more balance/diversity work.
eh thats one of my build versions but i use only cele trinkets rest viper/rabid.
Calling it goof-ball tztz … It´s very efficient and helpful for less trainded players but not the best version. You waste cele and eles power by camping earth … If you camp earth use rabid and a spash carrion picking precision oil.
Here we go with a real condi goof ball ele. It actually does preasure in earth.
Condi mesmer beats you and sustain ele or warrior is unkillable but it´s a nemesis for thiefs :-).

Depends what you like and the build … I use blood/generosity and torment for my hybrid build. Without precision i often use leeching and doom. For a single target DPS build one is air and the other again blood/leeching or generosity. For a healer it´s transference and renewal.
It´s a bit the same with rebound… Why the hell this effect? Just make it intant cast and give the aura and put it on 50s CD ….

I theocrafted and tested a build i like to craft/adapt the gear. Currently i play it with exotic weapons and knight armor. It works well for me.
Fast and hard hitting burst + enough control to win and tanky enough.
No endure/defy pain. Some might think what ? But i don´t miss it. I have troubles when focused or juming into an AE spamfeast but this feels minor. I avoid it.
Wins me most duels, condi builds? You better run … oh wait i wear nike …
And don´t think it won´t hit hard enough… I twoshot thiefs.
And yes i prefer strength over discipline don´t be near me when i tount, it´s certain death before taunt ends and i don´t need zerker gear for that.
Someone tested similar builds? Some goot tips to tweak it?
I don´t understand why they make it complicated… It´s totally controlable by the glyphs own CD´s.
I use power warrior and sage elementalist and kick kitten with both … don´t care esl or metabattle. But yes build diversity is problematic low.
I am a stone heart lover. I kite many dead camping earth and bursting out when feeling it´s the right moment. But my build is cele/viper hybrid tempest so quite diffrent.

I always run arcane brilliance if traited. It´s great in an offensive build.
Also using another stunbreaker with weakness option might round it very well.
Hoelbrak (can go strenght too but i don´t care about those 5% in PvP).
hoelbrak helps with conditions and combined with geomacers it shortens imob/cripple/chill quite significant. I think it´s worth about 5% less crit rate and the build stacks might.
in WvW romaing you need to be fast … Thats why i use SW/WH + GS on my warrior with pack rune. This combo makes it roaming viable…. Added boon duration food (gnashblade) and you have permaswiftness + SW2 leaping around. And guess what i run traited bull rush on toolbar as well. Catching non steath d/d thiefs gets doable …
And it´s not the strongest roaming build just an option.
very solid and skillful build. Eather renewal is an option, but both, necro and warrior can interrupt it quite easy. I think it works better with tempest but i guess it is intentionally a basic build. Basically it´s the old fresh air build.
The reason why i don´t play overwatch or other “Shooters” is that there is no diversity.
You get a fixed toon and thats it. Of course balancing is much easier.
hmm i don´t realy fear them. My arc divider usually always hits at least the pet …. So i have to wait till i get a solid bull rush or headbutt in maybe after 2 minutes ?
Well unload shoudl be used smart not blindly …. I main ele and a p/p thief usually dies on my magnetic wave + released rock barrier ….
I play a P/P on ocasion for fun. It´t fully focused on +1 and move. So what a thief should do. It´s not to fight 1:1 and can be quite nasty.
You might ask why traps and trapper…
It´s a lot fun. I don´t need ini for taking a stealth break for repositioning. Ini is for unload, headshot and move with bow… Nothing more. (ok sometimes a poision field)
Basi venom to go through block/reflect. Its often two unload and off again leaving a trap. Also shooting out of stealth makes sense using the short duration cloaks.
No stab and only one stunbreak makes it risky to fight longer but in solo Q it can leave people with tears :-). And it hits hard in a +1 at -50% targets. Unload + headshot in the back (remember impacting disruption + executioner is there)
What i miss is the extra ini from trickery but can´t have it all… Yes acrobatics is powerful with daredevil but this is not an evade build it´s pure hit and run.
Making the +1 second stealth working with traps woudl make me happy and give the underperforming traitline a bit more. Tought about using destroyer amulet but am to bad to handle so low HP and no armor… Maybe i try again but don´t play thief enough.

As support i would go earth and arcane. If you want to do damage it´s fire.
For a pure healer with no damage needs i would go nomad gear. (Minstrel with hot)
Here an example which would be a troll. Maximum tank in earth. Heal with water autoattack. For more healing pick aquamancers training and soothing power like version 2. The build doesn´t do much damage…
Tank camping more earth.
Healer camping more water.
Damage + Healing:
Full celestial is also always an option to pick and try all kind of builds.

At the moment I usually PvP one match per day. For the daily ^^. I am in WvW roaming the rest of my playtime.

P/P thief is OK and i like it. But you need brain as thief …. Shooting blindly on a scrapper or if ele is near is suicide. But i play him only ocasional as fun build. Worked surprisingly well but i did a quite strange P/P trapper with traper rune. It´s a full kiting build avoiding melee.
After learnign to play and using a gamin mouse with 12 extra buttons i have a hard time to see the benifits of macros. I even don´t want to always fire the same chain with my ele.
I have 1-10 on my mouse and added fire/eath attunement on the latch between fingers.
I do move with the arrow keys and bound targeting obove, jumping to the right and air/water left so i have space between movign keys and utilities. When i fire the classic air swap it might feel like a macro …. If someone jumps close i might hit 2-5 buttons nearly at once depending what i want to acieve.
Possible example aginst a power class: I might dodge, F4, 4, 7,9 and follow with 2 the moment i see a leap initiating.
I will flash like a boon christmas tree puting up: 4 hits on the attacker doing about 2k damage and a condi bomb while going into tank mode with fire aura and reflection.

in PvE if you can play yes you want that maximum DPS zerker with scholar …. For me this will get booring fast so i play WvW roaming and a bit PvP.
i would like an offhand pistol as offensive 900 range weapon complimenting scepter.
But i woul like much more if they rework/buff lots of underperforming things to give build diversity …. Not just focus on 1-2 builds dictated by elite.

I don´t see a probleme there. If it´s then reduce lord points to 100. A team going with 4 on loard at start might loose annyway. And this tactic is easily visible. Maybe three shall go for defence at that moment.
Eh i run viper mixed with celestial and a splash rabid and it works realy well for me. ;-)
well so let A-net implement the following new win criteria.
If a side takes a 200+ lead it wins. Otherwise it´s the usual 500 point goal.

The boring skyhammer will be added? That one with the to small map (okay both had a to small map, but because of the traps the old one feelt bigger)? That skyhammer that becomes a slaughter because of the map size?

EDIT; I loved the old skyhammer, it required some doging skill, taking care of your surouding and teached movement (and for all who say it required to much stability, i never used stability – even when i fought in the skyhammer-base)
But the hammer was to strong/skillfree – a trebugee like mechanik could work there
Agree here. It was nice to have it diffrent. Just won´t need the cannon, but the skillful environement was fun, even if it supports pull/push. It´s OK to adapt.

I even liked skyhammer with all the falls :-). I just dislike the cannon.
And capricorn is a good one for pvp too that can be put in ranked.

It sounds like you are a casual player. So it´s best to stick to one class to train it and adapt the build and equipment to your playstyle. It does not matter what you play, it matters what have fun to play and can handle. I have great success doing that with ele and after a year i started to practise warrior for a change but still main ele.
For warrior using GS and defence traitline should be easy to play. I find it smooth with a strength/defence/berserker using pack rune and power/precision/toughness/ferocity mix gear. (GS + Sw(or axe)/warhorn)

I play elementalist and mostly use sage amulet.
Cronomancer:
Condi: It is serious. Not a fast fight but i loose most of it.
Power shatter: Not a great threat and mostly a win after some time.
Necromancer:
Condi necro is the most dangerous oponent i can encounter. While a 1:1 is some kind of 50:50 in a teamfight he ruins my day … (So kill it first ^^)
Power necro is not a threat and more a victim.
Power warrior: Dangerous. I need perfect play and can´t kill fast. After some time the mistake or CD lets me fail to avoid a CC and forces me to disengage or die.
Condi warrior: Anoying like hell but can´t realy kill me. Ends in a stalemate.
Scrapper: I win manny, but fights are long. Only makes sense on own point.
Druid: If they rely on longbow it´s a win. Often a fast one. Defensive druids healing a lot are again very long fights and more of a stalemate.
Guardian: Mostly a victory. Also especially if they use longbow. So i counter meditrapper. The symbol guard is a hard and lasts too long.
Revenenant: I just win 90% and in a reasonable time.
Thief: As revenant. I kill most try hard thiefs. They either disengage or strike me in a +1 at a very bad moment or they go down in flames. Even if they think they kill the disengaging ele at 50% mostly kills them.
Ele: support ele is a stalemate. Fresh air is in my favor.
A resign button that lets the oponent win if ALL five in a team press it can be good.
But i am not shure if this might bring some negativ psychological effect by people press the button and AFK more.

I personally don´t care much about metabattle. I am doing well with a unconventional warrior build. Propably looks not focused enough on damage, but i hit dam hard effectivlely killing in two hits, so withing the taunt second if my target has low armor. It usually goes one CC, target dodges or breaks, go zerk, target hit by tount, arc divider – rush and game over … and i am fine with two stunbreakers and no endure pain. If focused by 3+ i loose annyway and don´t mind thos few seconds longer. In 1:1 i don´t need them as long as i hit my arc divider.
And it´s fast as roamer.
I don´t have all in ascended due to warrior not being my main but will do it if i get some drops or am in the mood of crafting …
Good starter classes are warrior and guardian. I would sugest a power warrior to learn.
I started as ele and don´t regret that. While an ele gets most out of the class by rotating four elements, you can build it to mostly camp fire (staff) or earth, which allows to focus on moving and positioning to learn. An earth camping ele is a hard nut. Won´t kill a decent player but also won´t be blown up in seconds (unless you ignore the condi bomb and wonder why you are down …). And with that base you can slowly get better and learn more and more skills to use effectively.
Regardless what you pick, you need to train it so just take what you like most.

In pvp i also run soldiers (Trooper) with four shouts.
In WvW i run durability.
Radiance is a good one. You can make a very nice d/x build with it.
So pick what you like. another nice one for me in a power build is surging.
blight has a much to short poision duration and long CD. 3s Poision with 5s CD would be great.

This will work in 1:1. As you said group support suffers greatly. In such a dueling build i go for scavenging rune but here you want precision. But all runes you listet are great i am just not shure about elementalist. I would go lyssa with FA.
I also prefer scepter due to range option. Close up overload worls well to scare off most.
I like the build type but not shure if fresh air pays off . I would try signets.
This would be one of my versions. Main concern is stunbreaks/stab but this hurts and i am mostly fine with the autostunreak + OL. The ele condi bomb is real and power damage hurts too … Very funny a condi fresh air …. Condi removal is burst mitigation. Being condi streamd hurts but you hit hard too.
Did try it WvW with lighning rod not fresh air with viper/Cele gear + durability rune. but not shure about it somehow arcane ele feels better playing ….
This is what i play solo Q.
Main issue is mobility but it works for me.
It has noticeable group support and damage. So its a bit inbetween. There is no perma regeneration and vigor. Also low CC resistance and as said mobility. This one can just pick viper amu and excange the healing signet with toment and the fun starts. Excep you get very squishy ….
And for theocrafting:
Squishy but there starts the real ele feeling. This is higly offensive. I did go 1:4 on a point downing three. Total fun but doesn´t allow for mistakes.

Eh i roam with ele and often solo …. And get killed by 3-5 man groups XD …
But i win against thiefs (unless a good one runs away fast …) XD.
The last patch was OK but this all three Month is not enough. There is not much hope to get diversity back at this patch speed. especially off season there should be a lot of small changes(tweaks/buffs to underwheming things) at least with the patches every two weeks. I understand not to mess around during season.

Started as ele and sticked to it to train one class to a decent level.
I am some kind of “Theocrafter” and love to do builds and constantly improve them.
Play 99% S/F ele. Did my personal hybrid/condi build to counter the berserker meta over a year ago. It evolved and is still good for nasty surprises. Started PvP with HOT now reaching my 1k ele matches. If you want some exotic build for your pesonal playstyle i am the right one to ask. I find playing meta booring. I play warrior as backup for a change. I play PvE only ocasional to get some stuff …. I already did “Equip a newbie” session for a new guardian.

I would do it that way if you like axe.
So axes are you offensive damage set. Shield/mace defence and control.
Bull rush as gap closer that got buffed in cooldown.
I know the strengh sigil ist good and i would use it instead of endure pain. Intresting how much life this gets keeping high damage with double axes :-).
