To those trying out Condi/hybrid builds: what amulet(s) have you been having success with?

Viper’s is still a bit too glassy for me.
Rabid and Wanderer seem promising.
Sage’s seems to me to be a logical choice due to Ele’s healing abilities, but I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet.

Also, are you having trouble surviving still?

I use sage. I realy liked wanderers but sage ist better after the massive ele nerves….
Focus fire forces me to flee but i am good 1:1 or small fights and still give enough teamsupport to win the 4:4. What i loose compared to menders is compensated by higher damage and so makes my ele more flexible and not only a healbot. Ele is hybrid by nature. At least thats my opion.
And i don´t want to play dagger, be a healbot or trait water. I want to build for my playstyle and the flexible ele not a dictated role ;-)

agree. The cast time od dragon tooth should be very short (1/4) so it can be used as fire and forget AE denial. Will hardly hit but not stopp the fluidity. That would at least be my sollution to it and not difficult to implement.

Maybe its a bit too personal but it works well in 1:1 and dishes out a lot of damage.
Use defy pain if focused a lot. So always look at oposing team and adapt a bit.
also if you see only power builds change zerkers stance to endure pain or go last stand instead of cleansig ire, but i usualy prefer ire.
Looks like low stability but my experience in solo Q is that i am fine with two stunbreakers, especially they are CC and stomp is also a bit stab on top.
This warrior is fast too. It´s able to rotate and kill a target fast. also don´t underestimate it´s CC potential. No shield but still dangerous. If you always run in a team and get swiftness go for mace/shield and put a +30% stun duration sigil in.

I am very endureable and still have a better playing experience and performance with ele over warrior. What i am not clear at the glyph is what is with the ICD now. If it´s 5 seconds shared over all 4 elements then the 100% is better but not enough to make it a useful utility over others. The text is a bit strange.
Had no time to try much till now. Tried eather renewal. Still high CT got interrupted as expected :-) but it´s noticable better.

I use pack rune + X/Warhorn and this works for wvw roaming. You can go greatsword or rifle or double axe whatever you like as second weapon set….

I agree the balance patch was disappointing just as the one at the end of season 3 was. I feel Anet are too afraid to really make changes cause they’ve gotten too much praise for how “balanced” the game has been the last 2 seasons. I honestly don’t give a kitten how balanced it is if it’s going to remain this boring.

Here lies the point. Actually while achieving more balance diversity and thus exitement gets lost …. It´s difficul to have balance with a wide varity of builds, but this varity is what keeps most players for long …

I also feel it was a solid patch. It was not enough to bring back full build diversity.
I personaly would have wanted more of the underused(garbage) traits and utilities to be buffed/reworked but the direction is OK. It´s just that we should get it such patches monthly till we reach a much higher diversity level ….

I already run earth, arcane, tempest with focus in WvW and prefer it over water.
With arcane durability rune is to good here … Gear is a mix of viper and celestial.
works well for me and i will rethink about the signet changes which are quite good.

dagger fire ele got a significant buff. And the glyph. Also fire and air signet is now intresting. I makes me considder signets again …. I just don´t play daggers. Would have taken offhand dagger if buffed seriously but did´t happen.

while it would be a nice diversion, the effort to balance all classes ist propably way to high. They can do it after diversity and balance works out of water …

for PvE i would also say at least a good portion sinister. WvW is diffent, there you should get your short duration condies last longer and without some vitality and toughness its goes just splat …

Would be a to huge change. I personaly would like realistic FF and knocking people from the walls/cliffs …
As mentioned it woudl lead to some grieving by people attacking the own realm and make this possible with free accoutnts will only increase this problem …

And i use physical skills havin fun. Might be stupid but if forfit endure pain …
The only thing endure pain is useful for me, is to survive focus fire from power builds in PvP othersise but if outnumbered 3+ its lost annyway and PvE no need for it.

I disagree here. It´s much easier to tell people you play what you Q.
You can adapt build but not switch class. And most players won´t load another char annyway.
Especially because MMR system needs to be per class ..

What i would love is an integrated speech com. You can activate it with a button and it will be available for the team till the map is closed. The listen part should be open per default but can be turned off in the options.

Well the second picture is about what i get with my sage S/F ele in the offensive version. With water i have more condi removal on team and lower damage.
Problem with ele is so much useles skills and traits…. Totally forced to pick healing.
I played without healing power till last patch but now i feel the need of at least sage amulet … Thus from swaping between 4 amulets it brought me down to one.

I uses axe/wh in my secondary weapon set for WvW roaming. Basicaly it seemed to fit best, but i am not shure anymore. Axe was for a swap and burst or as an opener with a throw + evade the first impact… But i tried sword again and SW2 is indeed very valuable. SW3 and the autoattack are ok and its not such a great diffrence to axe. The burst now is diffrent and thus gives an option. So now i run S/WH and i don´t miss eviscerate much and enjoy my aditional leap.
Now make final trust a 2s cast time finisher ^^.

Pip system is not the main culprit. It´s MMR measurement. It sets a personal skill by a team effort and also doesn´t reflect diffrent skill levels with classes. This is a bad base to build on top …

I regulary meet diffrent group sizes and either fight or stay away. If i get the drop i usually go for 1:2 often and let 3+ aside. Two days ago i saw a necro and a druid killing an ally. Came in just after the finisher going for necro first throwing him around like a ragdoll for a good revenge on the kill winning this 1:2. And it is possible to run a while and meet no one even when outnumbered. Some zerg elswere i don´t care much.

I see lots of bunker Druid, d/d Thief and PU condi Mesmers runing solo …. (Funny is also necros, but they tend to be victims ….)
I personaly run a power warrior or hybrid tempest. The warrior is capable to win and catch them all, the tempest gets often killed by the mesmer and stalemates or wins the others. The mesmer is propably the strongest duel option. Just avoid that match …
So i do solo or duo roam and have fun with it. Somtimes i get Zerged. So know when to run. High mobility is important. I have permaswiftness on both romers i play.
While my tempes is more resilient when outnumbered, the warrior gets more kills due to all the gap closers.

2 vs 2 team?

Since team play will (hopefully) still be there, will there be 2vs2 maps?

Either deathmatches or normal matches without mid (only far and close)?

Or does A-Net got a new map, designed for 2vs2?

they can, and if the vote passes, they will.

For a big chunk of players, the pvp league has a barrier that says ‘only teams from here on’ preventing them from getting over the third tier or so. Only pro players who carry teams can soloQ beyond that.

Some people just don’t have the people for premade teams. And they’re feeling left out, and now anet wants to change that to give them a fair chance as well.

Everyone can form a team, season one and two showed that, there teams had a big advantage and therefore teams everywhere.

And i hope you are wrong, why do people demand and vote for obvious wrong things that destroy more as they could fix?

But seriously though, pug teams can NEVER weigh up to premade teams. thats just the bad part. this whole vote is because premade teams dominate pvp, thats pugs and solo’rs don’t even stand a chance

Most players are solo/duo. so its good to go this step. This is something clear to me from the begining. It´s just you need to have an environement for 5:5 teams too.
I played a good part of matches with a 4 player premade that evolved after a match. So with random people after seeing the team worked very well (the others are actually good). So this form a team after match feature worked ….
And it usually resulted in about 90% win rate.

Oh my what is A-net doing … Sounds like optimizing without investing much effort (e.g. just change max team size)
If thers only a solo/duo q it´s also not good as to match 4+5 pemades with solo/duo …
But if it´s not possible to have both Q´s then the solo/duo is the better option.

My build is not DPS maximized. It´s an allrounder to run araund. Ghotistyx build is a hard hitting one more glass cannon build. If you want to maximize my build then pick another rune like balthasar or what Ghotistyx did mix trapper + nightmare for condi duration or pick berserker rune but this costs runspeed.

Sorry ele has a tier B build in sPvP that is pickted because of the 1 class rule. Its a good support build and thats it. It feels like 90% of ele traits and utilities are left in the void.
No build diversity on higher level. It´s not where it sould be. The most flexible and challenging class was brought down to a support bot.

I have no raid experience but i use a mix of viper/rabid/celestial on my ele.
Damage version is fire/earth/tempest. Overloads (expecially fire) do significant damage with viper.
Vor easy PvE signet build looks fine. In PvE i use the storm glyph and both fire or earth usage is fine depending what you need.
I could not get warm with dagger and prefer scepter but dagger should be fine too.
Warhorn is a good PvE weapon, i prefer focus.
No place for conjures on the toolbar. Ice bow can be tried. The greatsword is good but 180 CD is so huge …

For me a bit power creep from core to Espec is fine. I am more concerned about diversity within the ESpecs. You should be able do build multiple viable temepest and also upcoming class builds that are diffrent. This requires all these builds and thus Especs to be at a close power level.

Staff has low uses in PvP. If you do this, it is very high skill play to be effective. I did encounter good staff players but they are rare.
Staff shines in PvE and WvW (Zerg/Keep combat).

no worries. Ele is a good one for casual play. It needs to get a feel on it but it´s amazing an will survive thing´s you currently can´t imagine. Also with staff it´s high PvE DPS. My ele lives much longer in larger fights then my warrior. In high level play ele has the problem of lost build diversity becoming a support/heal toon …

I accept that runnign away is part of their build/class.
I play ele and sometimes warrior. (Did try thief a bit) With ele i try to kill before he runs which sometiems works. With warrior i just follow (or he´s dead annyway due to burst damage). It´s hard to catch classes with mobility + stealth.

You are talking about nike warrior. What kind of build is that? Guess it´s close to mine with GS + S or Axe/WH using pack rune.

To make it short.

Mainhand sword is liked by many for it´s “Style” and skins. But it won´t have much new options and lot´s of classes have it.

Offhand pistol as 900 range offensive weapon would be a logial and missing piece an expansion might offer but is less popular.

I am fully with Ohoni. But i don´t mind what we get. It should fit in and not dublicate something.
So what ele doesn´t have:
1.) A dedicated condi weapon, ele´s have hybrid weapons but non focused.
2.) A 900 range offensive offhand weapon.
3.) A pure melee (130 range). But this would be very close to dagger.

Of course it´s a matter of taste. An offhand pistol 900 range with condi focus and a bit defence in earth as usual but no healing in water would fully fit. I prefer this type.
Also a 130 range condi weapon would be an option. I personaly won´t like it but others will.
I can imagine a lot of things. Greatsword would be no problem at all. Granted many skills might be simila to others (also from other classes) but whats about an ele that can only have one elment traited geting a weapon swap instead of 4 elements? Suddenly balancing 5 skills gets much easier.
We will see waht we get and than i can decide if i like it or not. Might be that i stick to tempest anyway.
Most cruel thing would be power creep. Another round of this might drive me away from the game.

I mix cele + viper. Pure cele is a bit more tanky but the damage is not bringing down sustain builds.

ele doesn´t need a mainhand weapon. He has all covered. It´s a pure matter of “Style” if we get one. I prefer scepter buffed not a new ranged main weapon. What ele does´t have is an offensive ranged offhand.

Its a PvP build no longer possible.
But in PvE and WvW it still works. Focus is prefefered over offhand dagger for more defence. Mobility suffered due to ride the lighning nerfed.
You need a lot swaping or use traveler rune which is a very good one here.

MMR is the useless part ….
You rank on personal MMR but creat the same MMR from a (random) team effort. And even worse you measure one MMR regardless of the class played so one can be top with one class but garbage with another…
The base is rotten …. It can´t carry matchmaking. ..

To do:
1.) Make a per class MMR
2.) Adapt MMR measurement to reflect personal skill better. (it´s hard and won´t be perfect but better is possible)
3.) Don´t allow class swap. (You play what you Q)
4.) Don´t let premades stack classes and also modify the matchmaker that it reduces stacking as much as possible (Maybe then put left players of the most used class in one metach at the end eavening out stacking. So you get 20 matches without stacking and maybe two where you have 4 guards in each team ….) [no stacking at all would also be OK but Q times for the most played class might get out of control]

Still premade v.s. solo is not solved but the base would be much better.

Definitly a nice buil and i also thought to try the amulet. But i feel this build totaly depends on endure pain (including the passive). A good revenent might bait it and then destroy you. I won´t feel compftable :.-). But shure it can make high preassure and a quick end. It´s some kind of ups build that kills the reve on one mistake …

Build adrenalin is important as usual. I usually run cleansing ire + berserkers stance which speeds that up but i think this is quite common. Aginst revenants hitign hard combos endure pain is realy good so it´s hard to decide what to use here there are multiple options for utilities which all make sense.
