Your expectations on solo Q are to high :-).
Mace from warrior should be changed in a pure power/CC weapon. Skull grinder just doesn´t fit and it´s a bit over the top. Necromancers being the condition masters fits very well. Mesmers are a bit anoying and quite powerful with condies but maybe we can live with that in pvp. In WvW the condi mesems are OP in small scale combat.
I feel that my MMR is lower than my skill now … While good for me winning most, it indicates that MMR tanking might be an issue again ….
But premades or AFK ers decide games regardless of MMR or skill as usual …

I lately use arcane again and tempest. This works well now. I don´t play daggers but maybe this one will work. A mix of olscool D/D and Tempest. Sustain an damage.
@Karsus. yes this is a lot of fun. I tested a bit similar. But i would recomend tempestous aria and gale song and then use flash freeze or aftershok instead of fire signet depending on oposing team and I prefer doom sigil instead of purity.
and then don´t underestimate the power of this build in 1:1 …. Main issue will be power focus fire in sPvP with chain CC. Condis will also bring you down after a while, but you can kill faster very often :-).

Well most people who complani don´t care about PvE and want balance + diversity and this regardless how long a class was meta. Annyone who brings comments like “now it´s your time on the bench” are disliked in balance diskussions ;-).
This counts for all classes. It´s not ele specific.
The impression is that there are not enough resources invested in “Class Care”.

It can happen to all of us that we can´t start or finish a match. But it should be and exception. I think i had it two times that i got dishonour (one due to client stuck in match start screen and once due to disconnection …) since HOT start…
Dishonour effect cumulate. It´s not a big issue if it happens once. Get a coffee and start the next one. If you do it more often (which is usualy intentional, maybe by not wantign to waste time when seeing three thiefs on your team or the rooky from last game ..) then prepare to be punished by longer timeouts and being scheduled with other AFK er´s.
Rework downstate. No down skills. If you go down you are helpless till dead and then you autorespawn (the timer counts afterwards, so you get your time penalty in the base). Same for WvW just no time penalty and i would double down HP. Out of combat you start to heal up like bandage.
I realy dislike AFK ers … Had one in ranked two days ago… The match was even and one player made a mistake, another one criticided him, and as a result did go AFK loosing us the match … If you go in a match then you do it to play and if it´s ranked you should trie hard till the end … you are not alone. Throwing a match affecting four others is very unsocial and should be punished by cumulating dishonour.

I personally run S/F ele and realy like it. Of course you don´t hit DT very often on players but it happens. Just don´t try to drop it on their head (on point is often OK)…. Scepter has a some hard hitting skills that actually require tactical play. Marauder is OK for fresh air. I see scepter as a hybrid weapon and for me viper fits is quite well. Unfortunately ele is to squishy with it and has not enough active mitigation. Protection alone does´t save you without toughness and vitality.
I would like some CD reductions. Especiall earth 2+3 (both 10s) and phönix + trident to 15 sec.
sounds like staff ele. But if you want to fight 1:1 mesmer is extreamly strong in WvW. In PvE if find mesmer very comftable for map completion. I don´t play raids or fractals so can´t help to much here.
i am still an ele fan but playing warrior is a lot of fun ……. sigh.
And i know it by myself seeing it in another game where i did the balacing. The better you balace a game the higher the risk that it get´s booring. A common prolbem if you destroy diversity in the process.
I always said it feels like there is low time invested in working on ele. It does not need a redisign, it needs someone who tweaks all skills.It´s alot and of course it must be done carfuly not to get out of hand somewhere. So it needs ad deicated dev wo actually takes time to do it and then it´s implemented …

kitten when people start to develop what i do since last summer ^^.
Fire earth arcance with scepter and brilliance + shield was what i regulary played before hot in WvW :-). This build type does significant damage. But you melt in any teamfight whith a necro targeting you ;-). Also you won´t stand to much condies so always use generosity sigil which is a slight help. Next weaknes is low stunbreaks. A well played CC warrior kills you …
So yes i main ele with this kind of builds since over a year and it works for me. But it has weaknesses. The good thing it´s quite OK against many power builds including thiefs.
In PvP i sometimes pick viper amulet with it and can run havoc against random groups. It´s very suceptible to focus fire but if oponent is uncoordianted they are toast.
Don´t think it is good enough for high level teamfights but for me it´s fun to play.

It feels like low resources are invested and so i fear it´s not getting better with next expansion just more power creep needing a year to balance while dismissing build diversity. A good way to ruin long term exitement keeping the game enjoyable. But maybe GW3 has already an anoucement date planed ….
It´s mostly know your class and memorize your keys. I did more or less exclusively play one class (ele) for a year and think i am now decent(unfortuantely now this is not enough …). I usually know why i did just loose and think how i can adapt.
And while you learn you will also get a feeling about other classes you fight. Of course playing others and knowing their strenghts and weaknesses helps a lot but this might cost a lot of time most don´t have.
condi mesmers are a pain and seem quite unbalaced in WvW small scale or 1:1 combat.
Exactly. I am a bit overboard ele player and don´t use water much. I usualy use it about this: 50% earth, 30% fire/15% air and 5% water. And i don´t need water to win fights. But now with the CD nerf and healign nerf to bastion my survivability took such a large hit i have troubles to stay alive. My playstyle treis to do sustained damage while kiting and was a more agressive non meta style which is now seriously weakened …
Maybe my warrior picks my ele´s ascended viper equipement …
it´s unpleasant to boon users but doesn´t feel OP ….
The big corrupt or transfers are the real threat ….
durability runes needs the sharing removed (it would still stay a top rune)…. and perplexity their confusion aplication reworked …
It´s good for the player experience, especially in lower divisions. Unfortunately it makes reaching higher divisions easier and more or less just a matter of games played. So in the long run even average players will reach legendary if they take the time to do it.
But it also means getting better in play is more rewarding. It should eliminate the “MMR Hell”
Of course it will get some “Pro´s” cry if the get a “Noob” into their team.

The did hit the non meta builds that held us playing elementalist with the nerf so hard that ele will even be abandoned by many long term ele lovers. Hope is fading. So much things to improve and it never happened and now another across the board nerf that feels like no dev investet more then five minutes on ele ….
Always a fan of S/F hybrid. Tempest helped me in my flexible playstyle. Always earth + fire or arcane disliking water only picking it for pvp. The patch was cruel. Don´t know if my old fire/eath/arcane will be a more enjoyable choice now.
See few years ago I used to play World of Warcraft and the Rated Battlegrounds were 10v10, while Arena modes were 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5. In no game mode it was 1v1 as PvP is a team game rather solo game.
We can’t keep on saying that a good player base won’t play the game if soloQ is removed coz they don’t want to play in a team. This is a very bad argument coz PvP is a team game and needs to be played as a team only.
Therefore, even if Anet makes a system where premades will meet premades and soloQers will meet soloQers, the latter will keep on experiencing games where people won’t coordinate and players will play as they want rather than what team needs, thus the horror of pathetic games continue, eventually failing the very concept of a team based game mode.
Therefore, instead of asking for anything else, let us all request Anet to make Ranked system 5v5 premade only, Unranked both solo and premade and bring other modes of 2v2 and 3v3 and by the concept of soloQers 1v1 (although thats dueling rather than a game mode) and finally remove PvE reward tracks from Ranked games.
If Anet does this, everything will get sorted out eventually.
I strongly support this exept a dueling mode does not fit.
Support is never useless. Even if ele is total garbage in 1:1 and no fun playing if he can support and heal teammates it´s a possible pick because support in a team > then no support …. The will most likely always be a support spot in a team ….
So this does´t mean ele is in a good spot an fun to play …

last few days massiv cpu load from GW2 bringing the PC to the knees with 100% … Can´t play annymore.
the rune is super strong. I would remove the sharing. I use it too in my hybrid build.
After the patch i have precision infusions in my armor.

I play warrior and ele. While warrior somehow takes much more damage then ele, its regeneration ability is amazing. So annything that doesn´t kill me fast has more or less already lost ….
I would imideatley pick WH over focus if i can have my magnetic wave on it ^^.
The instant 3 condi clear + reflect is a to be or not to be thing … I don´t care obsidian flesh much despite it´s super strong for stomps … I don´t trait water and i don´t want to so i lack condi clear without focus.Not traiting water takes so much of your defensive ability away on ele. You’d clear a condition every time you applied an aura because the aura would give you regeneration if you took that trait in Tempest line. Making traits like that work in tandem is what makes Ele very strong when traited well. If you aren’t taking advantage of that defensive ability, you’re not getting one of the best things the class has to offer in my opinion.
I know that. I am not a beginner ele :-). In PvP i regulary play sage amulet traitign water for cleasing if i see condi classes on the oposing side …. But i don´t like to be forced into water ;-)
focusing on auramancer is stupid … most eles want a bruiser and offensive build not a bunkerhealbot …

I don’t care about classes or build anymore.
They nerfed all of my meta builds since released anyway.
They removed more than 80% of the builds viability until the top 300. Man it was fun to play whatever you want and be good with it. Now, that’s not working anymore.
June 2015 Patches did killed Builds viabilities and varieties. Even if Colin said they will not. With false promise like Elite spec will be on par with Core spec. And working on removal of options while they should had work to give us MORE.
Paying customers NEED MORE options, not less.

This … Well i still care about classes … Playable but a lot of the fun has been reduced. Well i play mor or less only ele + warr but reducing diversity across the board hurts.
I like souging but don´t have one in WvW. I use this one often in PvP.
Durability is very good if you add it to zerk or marauder for a splash of defence and good boon duration. Propably the best rune available but not always fitting.
Pack rune is one of the best for offensive play. I currently use it on my power warrior.
Hoelbrak or strengh are both OK. Strength is better for damage especially if you use the same setup PvE. Hoelbrak combind with – condi dur food makes warr even more condi resistant …
I am a fan of FSG but the cooldown ruins the fun :-/. Also i tried to use lava axe in the past but while it was nice to use it was a waste of an untility slot.
I would rework conjures to only let them for the ele and if you conjure them you get a weapon swap between you elements and the conjure….

I would prefer arcane shield it as it is but with much lower CD. In general i would prefer -33% CD in the trait to bring use an punch to an arcane setup….
Or the timer from water is set to 5 seconds. Then the passive would make a lot sense …
Adding fire aura on active fire signet would also be great.
RTL is the main skill that makes offhand dagger viable…. Flat 20 seconds would help a lot.
I feel the pain …. On one side i am happy if ele is abandoned by the “Mob” becaue i like to play diffrent and flexible but on the other side ele´s fluidity has been hit so hard it´s unfun …. I wan´t a reactive flexible playstyle that allows me to counter with good play and building … a cry for diversity ….
realy good post …. not much to add. I see it´s not even hard to get ele playable. It´s more a thing of is Anet willing to do it….
I notice the healing changes big time on my build. I relied upon WAtP as well as Elemental Bastion. My solo build doesn’t aura-share, so Elemental Bastion was just for me. That change hurts the most — to the point where I’m not sure it’s worth taking Elemental Bastion any longer.
Pre-patch EB healed me for 1340 health.
Post-patch EB heals me for 940 health.I have Celestial gear (on everything) so I do have some Healing Power. The healing power scaling on EB is just garbage (and the patch notes indicate they don’t really care since they only buffed the scaling by 10%).
I only use the fire cooldown trait and the change from 33% to 20% is noticeable but not too bad (for my build). The Lava Font change from 6s to 8s is much more noticeable and quite annoying. I can live with these changes though — but not the healing nerf.
In conclusion, I’ll be swapping out my heal skill since WAtP isn’t cutting it for solo play any more (sorry adjacent players, gotta look out for number one). I will also swap out EB for “Imbued Melodies”.
I have the same issue. My build was earth based (including CD) and used no water and aurashare and low regeneration uptime. My healing was based on the 3-4 four shout´s and my defence on focus. Rest of the build was offensive with a bit toughness in PvP soldiers amulet added well. The teamsupport was not as strong as the auramancer but noticeable enough. In WvW i use hybrid stats viper and cele Earth/arcane/tempest with scepter + focus.
I lost a huge amount of teamsupport a bit damage and a critical portion of self survivability, because i did already go on the limit between offense and defence. Magnetic wave CD nerf is extreamly noticeabe als well as rock barrier + dust devil.
I never cared to much on obsidian flesh and would prefer a low CD offensive instead. I usually safe it for the stomp and so 33 or 40s or even 50 is not such a big deal for me.
So my hybrid, far from meta build, was hit extreamly hard. If feels like Anet doesn´t want people to play their own style …

Yes dam hard. Had a 2-3 Minutes fight in WvW yesterday and finaly lost it. He outhealed my damage pretty easy …. Maybe he also thought dam ele is like a cat with nine lives but he chewed trough it …
Same PvP. If the warrior can actually play the class it´s so dam hard to kill it … and if you don´t manage your cleanses perfectly you are dead. The CD nerf to magnetic wave is cruel. I don´t know why they had to break the eles rotations. It´s double hard for arance eles …
In pvp i have to test it more. I am quite shure an ele with water traited for cleanses will outsustain a condi warrior.

most ele don´t want to be a healbot or druid …. While i like it to offer support to my teammate, i want a flexible class where i can build/play counters and surprise oponents. I like to do preasure to a target and handicap it so i support my teammate that is under fire. And of course i don´t like to be oneshoted or killed in five seconds by a daredevil :-).
Well written by Biklen. But i still feat they have overshot. People writing in ele forum usualy main ele´s and i did´t find someone being sad about cleric supportbunker nerved … I nearly exlusivly play ele since a year. And i prefer hybrid builds with no or low healign power and no water. Sounds stupid but work (ed) for me. I know that wash the pain away was a skill to carry others even without healing power and thus won me teamfights while wearing offensive stats. Not better as other classes skills in 1:1 but powerful if you are not alone.
I still hope to some buffs in fire and arcane traitlines.
The CD nerf was to much … Ele needs fire/arcane buffs. No clerics and group healing nerfs are ok, because they added the holy trinity and if you do that it becomes mandatory.
I am playing arcane tempest for a while now. WvW and PvP. Not shure how i might redisign it after the patch becaus i got hit hard. It´s a pitty that my S/F E/Ar/T build without healing power .. suffers from the CD increase and healing nerves …
I personaly like arcane brilliance and used it in the past, but you have to trait it and unfortunately evasive arcana is so dam good that you actually weaken your build if you pick elemental souce but without it your arance skill are garbage …
ele is a bit like guardin was now…. In lower tier play if you can handle him well it´s devasting. But high up i feat it´s no option anymore. But i still don´t know if ele support capabilities are high enough to still make sense, even if ele is trash compared to other classes damage or sustain.
