A majority who plays tPvP would prefer they actually kittening balance the game before moving on to other gametypes in my mind.
baaaaaawww…
Balancing our other two modes as much as they have already, just for you guys, wasn’t enough…. No you need even more changes until not even the number crunchers can point to a couple of mathematically superior builds. …Never mind that our 2 modes only have 1 build that’s ever worth running
Can you shut up? Do you honestly think it’s fun that a spirit ranger autoattacking does just as much work as an ele switching attunements, preparing combos, waiting for burst? Loads of players are leaving because of the last patch – in fact the game is practically dead because of the meta – and it’s ok?
Maybe if it completely dies they can stop balancing the game over a game mode that nobody cares about. I think most people would be OK with that.
A better solution would be to split and balance everything, so everyone would be happy. A lot of people want to play tPvP because of it’s competitive small man approach, you know this. Instead anet kittens everyone over by failing to balance anything.

WvW is not balanced for small man combat at all, and I don’t know why you expected it to be with things like 40% condition duration and perplex.

Chopps, how does your build fair against a warrior with Mobile Strikes?
To be honest, if you take a look at recent warrior builds…None, literally none of them runs Mobile Strikes anymore. Only Warrior’s Sprint.
I dunno, there’s kind of an option between warrior’s sprint or signet cooldown + SoR (As swiftness is pretty vital) and DotE or Mobile Strikes on the second slot. Mobile Strikes works with Earthshaker but I feel if you’re running that hammer/lb build it’s not worth it just for that. GS or sword builds though, definitely.
Pets have been and will always be the mechanic that holds the ranger back from ever being a solid class.
A year later and Anet still can’t get them right.
In saying that one would assume what we have is all we will get.
I truly don’t know why anyone bothers to complain anymore as it’s a waste of time.
It has nothing to do with pet AI. Pets are great. If you micro them well you can turn a fight. It has everything to do with the F2 skills being extremely unresponsive. There are hundreds of other pet complaint threads, don’t infect this thread and turn it into one please. I just want anet to see this and maybe do something so I can play the kitten class properly.
really bad engineer
Kudos for using traps.
And yeah, oceanic here, I’d like to play more yolo q or tpvp at all but there’s so much frustrating kitten like Spirit Watch and Spirit Rangers and Hammer/LB or Bunker wars that it’s offputting me from playing more.
really bad engineer
Ha, here come the warrior apologists.
really bad engineer
I hear you… And now that I’ve leveled up a true ranger, (warrior), to 80 and wvwvw’d some with him, I won’t be on my Ranger much anymore.
Shoot and forget AoE’s, powerful AoE bombs, great Condition ticks that actually mean something with 1/2 a dozen ways to apply them…. Survivability, na.. I’m not looking back, no pet to worry about, no pet chasing something on the other side of the map, or f2’s not working.
I respectfully disagree, the class is fine and perfectly capable of holding it’s own in all of those fields. This thread is about the F2 glitch, please don’t bring the naive complaints from the rest of the ranger forums here and derail the topic. The F2 skill is such a major part of the ranger as a class and it being so broken is a major turnoff though, so I don’t blame you for swapping classes.
really bad engineer
bad pet AI this is answer to your problem ..
No
This is not an issue with the rest of the pets, you control them as much as you need to if you micro well. Except this. You can’t control it because whether it works or not is seemingly RNG.

Fix the unresponsiveness of wolf howl and other F2 skills. Please. Please. Please. Please. This is what drives me to stop playing ranger. Not the problems other people fabricate for something to whine about, like sword (turn off auto), bad pet AI (Learn to micro) or anything you see in this forums. I go back to ranger every now and again, and get turned off by the F2 skills still being kittening broken. Nothing else.
Anecdote time: I was just on skyhammer, trying to get the wolf howl to work on the cannon room so I could get a bit of breathing space to get off entangle and maybe knock one or two off. Two warriors were up there. Do you know how long I dodged two warriors for while desperately trying to use the wolf howl? 35 seconds. For 35 kittening seconds, the simple concept of “I press F2 and F2 happens” goes over the concept of my stupid dog’s head. Often he doesn’t even start the animation, he just walks back and forth. For
This seems like a pretty simple logic sequence: When F2 is pressed>stop wolf>howl. But no, he goes back and forth and all about, even when you do the F3>F2 trick it still seems like a kittening lottery as to whether he does it or not. But this is still an issue after a whole year for some reason.
This is not just the wolf by the way, several pet F2 skills are iffy at best, which is curious because the ability to use an on demand interrupt seems kind of vital no?
Please. Please. Please. I beg of you, anet. Fix the wolf howl. Don’t give us rainbow fish or whatever that thing a while back was about. Hell, personally I’d prefer an F2 skill fix to the sick em revealed thing considering thieves are cake on ranger anyway. It’s so godkitten infuriating to know what needs to be done but be fighting the interface more than you’re fighting the enemy.

I want it because my characters never get to 80, but at the same time I don’t want it because of the kill boosting that would happen.
Hotjoins? Half the servers will be skyhammer farm because it would actually give something meaningful now. If you rewarded it as a win for tournaments? Half the players would be rank 1s.
really bad engineer
Sorry to break it to you but this is a pretty stock standard condi warrior build…

Ele. I still see loads of mesmers, who are supposedly bad, but eles are a rare beast. Probably because you can get the same results by just autoattacking on a spirit ranger as an extremely well played ele.

You can only rally off other players and svanir/chieftain.
You can’t rally off pets in WvW so I’m not sure where you got this idea. I’m pretty sure rangers would be a detriment to their team more than anything if this were possible.
really bad engineer
You should train in hotjoin, learn the maps, people are more forgiving there. Go in soloque only if you can make him bite his tongue.
Even though, you’ll still receive unkind words sometimes when your team lose. I usualy just reply casually “Please, grow up”, there’s no snap back. All I can say is, if you enjoy pvp, don’t let that affect you. You’ll only become a better player.
This is hotjoin 99% of the time…look at my game records. I don’t do much soloque and non tpvp.
Literally just ignore anyone who trashtalks in hotjoins. They’re a fool. Hotjoins are for fun screwing around/practicing builds, and it carries about as much competitive value as rocks paper scissors given the varying skill gaps and the glory farmers and the zerging.
I don’t want to see someone quit because of it, so please, take my advice and go again: someone trashtalks in hotjoins? Just mute them. They’re the hyper-competitive guy but apparently not hyper-competitive enough to play tPvP instead.

I think it would be a perfectly viable tPvP map if the water area got the temple treatment and the side points of the map were “balanced” a bit. West spawn looking onto west point has an advantage over east spawn looking onto east point.
really bad engineer
Because of the water. It’s too easy to run into the water to delay if you start losing the fight, now you actually have to win the fight.
I really, really like it.

Just think for a moment
What would you do if 5 eles all with permanent dazing shield (And a mesmer with null field because >stability) came at you? What would you even do?
really bad engineer
The reason is quite simple: Thieves are capable of permanent stealth.

They probably don’t micro them at all.

Why didn’t the casters check runes/jewels for half the builds? That’s a lot of what I’m interested in, runes are pretty important.

Best counter to thief in game once the patch hits?
pretty sure engis will still be better.
Anyway at OP: This game is designed and balanced around small scale pvp, one look at the skills and traits of every class shows that. Because rangers are not strong in one facet of the game, doesn’t mean they’re in a “sad state”.
really bad engineer
Three warriors here as well. I won a 1v2 against a ranger and a thief yesterday by just following a rotation with hammer>longbow: combustive, arcing arrow, earthshaker, repeat with other skills in between. Didn’t need to give a kitten about just about anything, signet took care of healing, condi removal and might stacks happened by themselves.
And then there’s the kittening bunker warriors who put down a regen banner and their healing signet, and then literally just RUN IN CIRCLES. It’s ridiculous and needs to stop. Passive kitten is ruining the game.

Regarding Guild game play, please understand it is extremely important to us, and an area we are paying a great deal of attention to, so please do be patient with the developers who work tirelessly on making WvW the very best it can be, they have a great deal of respect for you all, and value your collaboration in pushing this pioneering mode forward. Also please note this member of staff is not on the WvW team.
If it is ‘extremely important to you’ why are you destroying it and ignoring all calls that you are?

The best roamer is you, pretty much any class can be played well as a roamer if you yourself are a capable player. I’ve even seen roaming necros do well.

I think this should be a thing just so that the gw2 gvgers actually have a place to go, Devon doesn’t seem to give a kitten about them. As long as tPvP exists I’m happy, and what others play doesn’t effect me.
really bad engineer
What are we compensating for? Warriors are 5% above, para sigil nerf will take them down to the rest of the classes. Consider them apples.

Not exactly the same, but the story works for all mods not developed by main devs on video games: KZ maps, Zombie modes in Counter-Strike, Zombie mods for Arma2 which turned into DayZ and the upcoming standalone.. there are loads of examples.:
you miss LoL, the most obvious example
He didn’t. League is a casualised ripoff of Dota, the real example.

Apparently if you’re EVER found in proximity of more of your own players than there are enemy players, even co-incidentally, in a game mode where people can move anywhere of their own accord and there is absoloutely no mechanic balancing the fights towards an even number of players, then you are a bad player.

Warriors are OP as kitten and if you don’t think this then you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Source: 30k wub kills, champion legionnaire, 2k+ hours on 3 different wars. The amount of pressure skills (Stuns, bursties, sometimes both) that primarily the longbow/hammer build can put out is more than any class not abusing perma vigour and energy sigils can dodge – all of this while being absurdly tanky in zerkers with the healing signet and high armour. What’s more, if you fail to dodge one of these skills – pin down, backbreaker, earthshaker, staggering blow, bulls charge, list goes on – then the recurring punishment is far, far greater than any other class can put out due to the insane length and damage of combo stuns/imobs. The solution is simple, fix para sigil.
THAT BEING SAID: So much other bullkitten resides in this game that is also op as kitten, and buffed to all kitten since last patch. Spirit rangers, necromancers, and lesser so S/D thieves mainly come to mind. Nerf warrior and you get necromancer dominance, which is… uh… fun. I promise.

I think I missed the memo where rank means absolutely anything at all?
No you missed every single word i wrote but the title…
Yes, I read all of it, of course. All of it seems to be based off the fact that you are offended because people can get something pointless. It’s all cosmetic and has literally zero show on skill, minimal show on time played – primarily it’s how much of a hotjoin hero you are. You’re upset that other people can show off how much of a hotjoin hero they are?
