when I hotjoin with friends and I get moved to the other team I use that as a perfect oppurtunity to killshot them. In fact, I’ll normally join the other team JUST to killshot them. Lighten up, it’s a hotjoin.
What really ruins hotjoin is the skill disparity. It’s where most new players go yet experienced players literally stack to one team to farm them. :<

I understand it needs to be nerfed but because it’s so strong several almost-viable builds draw on it to be actually workable. It’s almost a part of the engi by now.

Its one of those “bad for the player, good for the game” changes.
As much as immob stacking is complained about, guess what can let high burst team builds focus fire more effectively?
People complain about evade spam, Anet gives you immob stacking, and now people are complaining about immob stacking and forgot about evade spam. Anet is nerfing evade spam again, and if someone calls for vigor uptime to come back I’m just gonna laugh.
All evade weapon skills that people complain about like on Rangers or S/D Thieves work while immobilized, and vigour uptime is being nerfed.

Rank should not even be displayed in team matches. Rank shouldn’t even have been a thing. It has zero reflection on player skill and it leads to threads like this. What if an extremely experienced player makes an alt account? They’d be rank 1 but they’d still probably be better than most of you.
As I said, I’m not talkin about exp players with second acc’s.
Rank IS reflection of skill at some point. If it’s not farmed in hot joins/skyhammer, but on tournaments. Gettin to r50 gives u HUGE experience. And U CAN’T be skilled without experience, coz some things, some knowledge comes with time. And I get ppl who are cleary nonexperienced. That’s the case.
Y’know I would agree but I’ve seen some horrible r40/50’s, and I’ve seen some really good r20’s who got a lot of PvP experience from playing WvW and then just had to learn how to play the maps. There are too many variables and assumptions to say for sure whether someone is good or bad based off rank.

never comes backToday i was observing hotjoins and saw some thief in hotjoins spamming auto attacks on people with the default build and soldiers amulet. Then he says “I don’t understand this games pvp at all”.
Afraid we would lose another potential pvp’er I guested to his server, taught him how to gear, how to change traits, and got him set up with a basic D/P build. Then I showed him how to backstab, how to enter stealth by leaping through smoke fields, and some other basic thief stuff before sending him on his way with an invitation to pm me with any questions he may have down the road.
I spent probably about an hour with this dude showing him the basics. When all was said and done, I sent him on his way with an invitation to pm with any questions. Then I thought: “Why is this my responsibility?”
Yeah, definitely, I enjoy helping newbies and do it a lot but I feel like we shouldn’t need to be doing this. The community should get together and make a real brief tutorial/guide for each of the classes, maybe grouch or something could look into working it into the game somehow so new players see this straight up instead of going in with the silly default builds and getting rekt? Some of the default builds are really silly and the game is REALLY brutal on new players.

Forfeit (Aka give up option) is a pretty contentious issue in Dota 2.
I am an advocate of Forfeit in Dota 2 because we don’t need valve to hold our hand for us and the other team can often delay and fountain farm for 20 minutes or so.
I am not an advocate of Forfeit in GW2 because if the team truly wants to lose they can just sit in base, and at most you’ll waste 2-3 minutes of your time. If the game is already so bad that it’s gone the enemy is probably triple capped and a few hundred points ahead. Buckle up it’s not that bad.

bunker engi gets destroyed by 2 decent burst players and brings no team value to achieve even that
condi engi gets hard countered by every braindead necro and warrior player
offensive power either deals no competetive damage or is as glasscannon as serker ele without the escapes / boons.
There are a few more hardcounters to the class depending on builds but overall its never an ez win unless you drop supply crate (which is just an unreasonable thing to do in 1v1)
Yeah nah mate, bunker engi is probably the toughest bunker spec in the game, it’s just winning fights is more important than holding points so a guard with superior group heals and support goes better. It’ll take a while for 2 burst specs to kill one, they’ll probably get really low in the process, and 2 for 1 doesn’t seem like a fair trade to me.
I personally find that beating warrior on engi is a pretty even fight really, even with all the condi resist. It pretty much comes down to dodging pin down (hambow) or impale (condi). They’re very strong, don’t doubt that. Too strong however is something to debate. I don’t believe they are now, but I feel they will be post-patch.

I don’t think healing bomb support will be any better than it already is. 0.04>0.06 is not a massive change.
On top of this the trait is completely counter intuitive. If you’re trying to stay alive you really really want to keep moving, but this trait relies on you standing still. I don’t even run it on bunker engi, better to sacrifice it for incendiary.

Is this actually a problem others are having? I must use rocket boots 250 times a day since launch and I have never seen anything like this. I really haven’t seen anyone else complaining about this anywhere on the forums that I have noticed. Is this just an isolated problem, or have I simply been lucky?
It might be because I’m Australian and have higher ping. It doesn’t happen nearly as often on other mobility skills however and it can be very irritating.

Role being providing/blasting water fields and spamming aoe control. Only one stunbreak and no stability so prot injection and regenerating mist helps you to stay alive in the mess. Gear would be clerics, perhaps with some berserk mixed in because bombs do insane damage. Engineers are probably the best class for getting people out of somewhere where you don’t want them to be with a lot of CC and knockbacks, so just really train someone down while the necros wail down on them.

In all seriousness, I feel like they’re right where they need to be currently, however post patch Engineers two main counters – Necromancers, and lesser so, warriors – are getting nerfed slightly wheras Engineers don’t really get a serious nerf at all (I know what you’re thinking, I’ll get on to that in a moment). It’s safe to say that this will make them a fair bit stronger than they already are.
The worst part is the patch does nothing for the classes build diversity – 30/x/x/20/10 bomb/nade/something else is probably the most powerful engineer build going, and barely anything about this actually changes. The vigor nerf is not all that bad (Can be worked around with swift on crit) and I (And several others) use an adept trait in the second slot in explosives anyway. All this change does is remove fringe builds which rely on incendiary being accessible.
I will agree that engis are just insane though – even when I play horribly I feel like I’m contributing way too much – so I suggest three nerfs instead of the rubbish they’re doing now.
- Incendiary Powder be an on-hit effect that recharges every 10 seconds in a similar way to venoms, sigil of doom/life leech, vitrue of justice, etc so that it can be countered
- Heal turret’s cast time be increased by 0.5 seconds so that it can be countered.
- Keep the vigor nerf, it’s good, dodge spamming is bad for the game.

The people that hate skyhammer refuse to adapt their build . Bring CC and stability , I know you give up on some stuff but knocking people off the cliff is fun . Skyhammer is my favourite map and I don’t want it to be removed it from the game . I always win on skyhammer , 75% W\L ratio on that map , it’s where my build shines , a full CC warrior

Feels good to have been doing this run instead of the boat skip the whole time and being the only one at the end while my party struggles to get through.

But yeah, on warrior just load up on stability, bulls charge, and rush through before anything reacts and dodge the killshots. On engi, stealth comboing will get you through to safe spots where (I wish engis had more than 4 seconds of reliable stability) the asura with stun lasers won’t get you. Blind and invuln works on deadeyes, unsure about endure pain. Moving fast enough works on sentinels as their RoW animation is slow. Putrifyers are a non-issue, as are zerkers.

I wish they’d just nerf healing signet slightly or change it to be more active. All these changes to other warrior stuff is just really really skirting the problem – healing signet is insane sustain, so much so that it pushes certain (normally non-condition due to poison) builds/classes out of the meta. I can slap a heal sig on any old warrior build and without even having to think about it (Because it’s 100% passive) that warrior build is now ready to tackle pretty much anything. The other heals aren’t even that bad now – in fact, they’re pretty good.

- A slight buff to other things, or a slight nerf (Inb4 overreaction, dec 10th everyone else gets nerfed too) to bomb/nade/x to stop it being the #1 thing that every build eventually drifts towards in PvP
- Manipulation of a lot of passive traits to be more active
- Inventions line buffed (Healing bombs could do with a rework – not a buff, but it’s kinda counterproductive when you want to be moving around). I’m thinking increase the strength of those toughness to power traits so I can run something like tanky DPS. Right now the only build that goes into Inventions is pure bunker and they don’t even go for the GMs.
- MAGNET PULL BEING MADE RELIABLE – Why do they sometimes go behind me? Why do they sometimes get launched up into the air?
- Attack speed of glue shot increased (p/s superior in everything that’s not HGH)
- Rocket Boots being made reliable – why do you warp so much where you land, where savage leap and such are so clean?

I normally bore myself to tears with GW2 PvE, but this is actually really enjoyable. 90% of the forums alight with people complaining whenever something remotely hard drops, so I thought I’d add my vote of support for more stuff like this and give people an opportunity to do the same.
Constructive stuff to bring forward to future patches:
- Challenging! One reason I find myself falling asleep in the rest of GW2 is because it’s horrifically easy. This is pretty hard.
- Looks great. The interior of the tower has a design that I really like (Although what you did to Kessex isn’t so nice.) Just get a load of this: http://i.imgur.com/wFcWtGy.jpg
- Good atmosphere. I don’t know how to explain this one and it might seem kind of cheesy but I really feel because of all the events and the flow of people that we’re fighting our way up the tower. I can also get a good sense of progress from the height and seeing where I’ve come from, too. Nice.
- Not locked in to any amount of people, can come and go – I started this solo, found one of my friends at level 3 and started running through with her, then went back to help some other friends through. The game being flexible like that is pretty neat. You could also find some new bros while fighting your way up, which is neat.
- Good mechanics – stuff like level 3, nothing too groundbreakingly original but still keeps it fresh.
- Huge – it’s pretty big, kept me going for a while.
- Achievements aren’t grindy rediculous stuff like KILL 25 CHAMPS
- Rewards are cool, love the gas mask
- No way for people to farm kitten and ruin the experience for everyone else that I’ve seen… yet…
Like really, coming from someone with a background in game design this is the most polished living story stuff I’ve seen yet. Gives me a real vibe of old and golden games. Not perfect though, some cons:
- The story… I’m sure you’ve seen several other threads on this so I’ll leave you with http://i.imgur.com/nkzx49X.png , accurately sums up why I and several others hate the “writing” surrounding scarlet. This is for another thread though
- Could be more explorable. Something can have direction/flow and still have multiple paths/methods to take something down.
- Could be more challenging, perhaps meshing in with the above suggestion and have more difficult paths for better reward, etc while still maintaining the easy, long option for new/challenged players.

After the railing was added I think this map wouldn’t be so bad if two simple changes were made:
- Delay on glass breaking increased by half a second (You have a chance to get off if someone pulls you instantly and a warning if they don’t)
- Cannon made dodgeable
I love the layout of the map itself, but the cannon is OTT rediculous and the glass panels on the side point are beyond frustrating.

I dunno but it’s kittening annoying, I want to mess around with non-spirit builds (which normally means signets) in hotjoins but nooooooo you have to blow all your signet cooldowns just to get the passives, making you useless for a minute or two.

For champion titles, both Solo Queue and Team Queue count towards wins. In terms of achievements they are in every way the same thing.

Condi Warrior is kittening ridiculous because of a single skill: Impale. Every 20 seconds with a barely noticeable animation it does 9000 damage worth of torment of which you have to take ~5000 damage because of the way it’s applied over time.

I just dont get it whats wrong about getting matchup´ed vs. a top 100 team, from a low ranked team point of view? If you beat them, you will get like 200 ranks up, if you loose, your rank will stay closely the same. So what?
Well, a major thing is that the matches are not fun at all. Unless two teams are evenly matched then a game comes down to map control instead of fights, and the fights are usually extremely lopsided. I like close matches. I hate stomps, as the stomper and the stompee.
