What the kitten is wrong with you people? You don’t even need any victory to finish your daily! Who the kitten cares about 4 additional achievement points??? Hating on the new daily options is just bullkitten
Apparently they want to compete on the leaderboards, but it’s NOT FAIR that they have to do work to compete on the leaderboards, and it’s NOT FAIR that exclusive PvE heroes can’t get 4 extra AP a day (4 AP! Watch out everyone!) because they can’t win matches.
I think. It’s all greek to me.

THIS THREAD. THIS THREAD RIGHT HERE.
Please take note, anet. I am so sick of walking about on my engineer, seeing a necromancer, and thinking “Welp, that fight’s not going to be won, call for help and play to delay” and on the flipside seeing an ele or thief and thinking “Well, this shouldn’t take long, probably won’t even have to blow any cooldowns”. It’s not a good fight.
Skill>Counters, please.
really bad engineer
Is this for real? Just… don’t do them? Or man up and maybe try some tPvP instead of being a hotjoin hero and complaining about equal rights?
Moving on to legitimate complaints please, try not to distract anet.
really bad engineer
It’s good, but heal turret is better.
really bad engineer
I just don’t get why they went through with this.
Let’s look at some facts:
- Bomb/Nade, HGH, all the engineer builds that people might consider OP, already go 30 into explosives for Grenadier.
- Fringe builds can draw on Incendiary Powder being accessible to become “viable”.
And so you take it away from the second but not the first. This literally does nothing but kill build diversity. People have been telling you this, ever since the patch preview. Why didn’t Incendiary get nerfed in another way, perhaps making it work like a venom so it’s far more active? What are you doing Anet? Did you think about this at all? Hell, I even run an adept trait instead of incendiary in the masters slot. I don’t get it.
Guess I’ll just play bomb/nade 24/7 then. Thanks, great Christmas present!

why are we comparing two different skills from two different classes

I thought we all learned this maybe a year ago? It doesn’t apply the same way in the slightest.

Good luck. Burst war has a deceptively high skill cap.
really bad engineer
yeah dps guardian is pretty strong with alot of instant huge burst damage, which is kinda cheap. I’d dare to say that they have the highest instant burst damage in the game atm.
What even is this post? The only instant burst guards have is JI (does about 500 damage on a crit), and smite condition (does about 2.3k with a condition on a crit).

Didn’t they say it’d be equivalent to what PvErs would get on average?

does it need a replacement? incendiary powder is already on the way to grenadier, and the vigour is sufferable and has a workaround (infused prec).
If anything, other builds reliant on 10 points incendiary need replacing.

So this is secretly a complaint thread about thieves who really aren’t that strong at all?
I admit, you caught me. I’ve been trying to avoid these threads but I guess they’re evolving and adapting to the environment to stay hidden.

Are we still going to be able to progress Avenger, Ransacker, Marauder, whatever’s after that etc etc after ranks are removed? Marauder has been one of my long term goals in the game (coolest title in the game, not for any kind of prestige it might hold but in itself really) and I don’t think I’ll be able to grab it within 4-5 months, especially considering I’m cutting down on the amount of hotjoins I do.
I’m sure there are a lot of people who feel a similar way, so it would be nice to get an answer regarding if I have to accelerate into overdrive hotjoin farming mode to achieve this in before the rank change if they’re being removed, or if I’m safe to just take it easy and play how I want if point based titles are here to stay.
EDIT: I’d like to quickly point out before this thread gets deleted due to being superfluous: this is NOT about ranks, merely the rank point related titles and a question as to whether they’re being affected by the change.

I don’t like the consolidation of PvE and PvP. Legendaries in PvP? Not a fan, but we’ll see how it pans out.
Question: Will we still be able to get rank titles like Marauder? Marauder has been a long term goal of mine for a long time, it’s the coolest sounding title going and I wouldn’t like it to be locked away.

People really get mad over arcane thievery? That’s a new one. I understand engineer condi spamming getting on your nerves but kittening arcane thievery? wat
really bad engineer
I feel like people are going to continuously complain over and over about thieves until they die if you look at them funny, stealth lasts half a second, and they tickle you instead of damage. They’re actually not that strong if you know how to play against them (Try hitting blocks or something like aegis when they go into stealth, because 3 seconds is not a long time) and I personally think the playstyle of thieves is extremely good for the game – high risk high reward, forced to run glass, no silly passive bunker kitten.

Prismatic Understanding Condi mesmer is the best 1v1 in my mind by far. You just can’t deal with these guys going into stealth 24/7 and getting perma prot.
Luckily you don’t see them in tPvP much because they’re useless in teamfights and can’t hold a point, but in duel servs and wvw… kitten .
really bad engineer
(edited by Writetyper.1985)
No. Engineers are the only class safe from the “autoattack spam” stigma. All other classes should function like engineer: Weak autos, strong aimed skills.
really bad engineer
It’s fun, but you can’t hold a point. Like literally an engi or necro has to look at you funny and you’re dead. Not really viable also because there are several methods to counter killshot if you know it’s happening.
And to pull off that kind of damage you have NO condition removal. Zlich. Even taking shake it off is about 1k shaved off that figure.
really bad engineer
I smell two builds:
GS/LB like Tarcis plays (But it’s natrually what DPS wars kinda shift to in my experience, gives you teamfight control too)
Condi s+s/lb because you can be obsurdly tanky (regen+settlers) and do a lot of damage (pin down, impale) at the same time.
And I’m not sure but Hambow will probably still be looking strong.
really bad engineer
Big shoutout to Retribution for zerging roaming around the ruins with a small tactical squad of 10 people buffed up with 25 bloodlust, 5 guard leech and 5 defence against guard and yet still losing downs and stomps to singular players and small groups. You guys must be extremely proud of yourselves.

Keep in mind that prior to that matchmaking change it could have been that you had a low MMR compared to your skill – IE, everyone was worse than you, thus winning a lot of matches due to carry hard. Just a thought.

I strive for ascended weapon stats on kits.

Until they remove the breakable platforms and make the cannon evadable, yes.
I will say, I don’t mind falling but engineer magnetic pull being conveniently a slow-cast spell and pulls you right over the glass that they casted it on, and there’s basically no counter other than stability, it’s pretty GG. At least fear you can cleanse/CC break before you fly off if you have it.
I think it’s the easiest pull to avoid. Just roll after the animation flashes.
9 times out of 10 they are invisible from elixir S toss or precast it from out of LOS and then move in at the last moment.
I should know because I abuse this all the time.
If you can’t beat them, join them.
really bad engineer
Thief for sure.
Then: Eles, Warriors, Mesmers, and poorly built Rangers
After that: Guardians, other engineers, and properly built rangers (empathic bond and spirits).
Finally: Prismatic understanding mesmers (Don’t even bother), Bunker wars (Just ignore them they do maybe 500 damage a hit) and Necromancers.
really bad engineer
My tactic is to dump everything you can on them from the get go then CC them with supply drop, shield stun and knock back along with a tool kit magnet pull. What that does is gives to conditions time to eat away at the necro. If you’re really good, you can time these interrupts whenever you see the necro raise his hand signaling that he’s going to pop his heal which cures all conditions.
If you make sure he’s blinded with grenade, static shot, or the bomb blind, his transfer conditions (plague signet if you spot him with it) should miss you.
If that fails. I gotta run like crazy because my only form of condition removal is from heal turret. Luckily most necros are slow and with my rocket boots chills, cripples, and swiftness I can kite until my CC is back.
Yup! I used to die to them ALL the time until I abused their main weakness. CC. Sometimes I go over to their sub-forum to look for a thread about how they lack stability despite being slow and tanky and feed on their tears.
Its funny because necros can trait for the easiest access to stability (5 sec every 9 sec without boon duration).
Actually, it’s 3 seconds of stability for every 10 seconds (7 if traited).
The reason why condi necros don’t run it is because it has no synergy with a condition build (tree = more death shroud + crit damage). Terrormancers often run it so if you take damage on fear, be prepared for stability as well.
On the other hand, if terrormancers are running it then they can’t really take dhuumfire. If you see a necro with stability you know you can be a little bit more offensive.
really bad engineer
Dunno why you don’t just run spirit guard and spirit ranger instead
Call your team “We’ve got spirit” or something
really bad engineer
Spam conditions and then chain CC is the only way you’ll win. You cannot trade hits with a necro.
Make sure you keep a quick interrupt handy/usable to interrupt consume conditions, and do everything you can to dodge putrid mark.
really bad engineer
Im pretty sure the confirmed that Lyssa icd will be changed to 90 secs.
I’m pretty sure that doesn’t make an effect on how strong it is.
I would prefer they just get rid of the stability altogether.
really bad engineer
Following your logic engineer should be a top tier 1 class that is present in every tourney team then? Like a guardian, right? Yet nobody uses an engineer in their lineups (speaking only of successful teams ofcourse)
Yep, go check winners and finalists of all the biggest tourneys. Engineer not included.
Yet there are classes that do engi’s job better, simple as that.
Definitely unsuccessful bad teams use them. Winning one’s don’t. Everyone else figured out already that necromancer>>>eveyrthing an engi can offer.
I’m going to have to ask you to stop using this to support your silly argument, please. See attached for a start. Engis do not take the same role as a necromancer at all. Try training an engi like you do a necromancer, he’ll probably dodge 40 times and use 80 stunbreaks.

Yet there are classes that do engi’s job better, simple as that.
Can I have some of what you are smoking?

3. Passive Heal
I think your nerf to the passive heal is a little too harsh, I’d say cut it in half first and see how that goes. It is pretty OP especially in small-scale fights as it stands, I definitely agree on that.
You know you’re dealing with something strong when “Cutting it in half” is the safe option.
But yeah this thing just wins teamfights by giving everything warrior sig as well as a split second to interrupt it if someone goes down. However you can’t focus it because of the insane health and regen it has, and in particular, the extremely sporadic movement pattern shared by all spirits. Spirits kind okittenwardly follow the ranger and then move really fast to adjust, meaning you can’t get in position to use point bank CC on it (to interrupt the res) and you can’t use grenades or melee the spirit reliably (because it dances all over the kittening place). I wish that could be changed slightly.
really bad engineer
Yo killchained I’m not gonna lie, you’re a cool dude especially for donating like 300g or something to gw2pvptv and all the tut videos you made, but I didn’t really like this. It was overedited, the build is the most common thing Warriors run in WvW and perhaps worst of all, it includes underwater combat (I kid).
Good work however because the editing is polished and it’s good to see people putting content out there. If I were to make a suggestion for future stuff it’s to maybe push a build that people run a bit less (Have you tried hammer/gs? I can’t bear mace/shield because of how little mobility you get in mace) and perhaps minimize the amount of editing to transitions.
really bad engineer
Good. Last thing this game needs is downed state being better. Nerf it all to the ground. Nobody should be doing more than 1000 damage from downed state. Nobody should be doing the rediculous kitten that rangers do with lick wounds from downed state. Nobody should be applying 6 stacks of confusion and doing 6k backstabs from downed state. Nobody should be crippling from downed state. Nobody should be getting up and getting a free stomp on people from downed state.
You beat them. They should not be at an advantage after being beaten.
really bad engineer
Stealth cap is 15 sec.
15 seconds from blasting smoke bomb, which has a 20 second cooldown, with elixir S toss (5 seconds) to fill the gap. There will be very slight downtime as it’s exactly 20 seconds and nobody’s perfect, but it’s doable.
Whether it’s practical is up for debate. Hint: No. When stacking stealth as an engineer all anyone has to do to disrupt you is to stand near you and take damage. You can just take bomb kit and elixir S for the same results.
really bad engineer
Sorry but why are thieves -4? Do you play engineer or something?
They’re not really bad.

I hear if you dodge or use stability CC diminishes in returns by an amazing factor of 100%.

We’ll be reducing the maximum amount immobilize stacks in the near future.
Or just change it back. The game was DESIGNED with ONE stack of immobilize in mind.
Not five, not four, not three nor two, designed for just one.
Stop adding/changing mechanics without considering the entire game! (AHEM torment)
But… torment isn’t that bad though…..
The warrior skill impale can deal well over 10k damage with just 1000 condition damage. Worst part is, since the terror is applied gradually, you can’t just clear it and be done. Most op skill in the game.
I thought I was the only one who thought this. That skill is kittening rediculous. Fights with condi warriors come down to whether you can dodge it or not. Reflect it, you just won. Get hit by it, you kinda have to leave. Pin Down too. They also have 20 second cooldowns.
But I won’t complain, they’re really the only skills making condi warriors a viable thing these days.
