Mesmer was strong enough in 1v1 already.
1v1 is not an official game type.
As for the official 5v5, mesmer is not the most desired class in top tier.
Good thing 1v1 happens in every single TPvP match ever played.
u cant tell me fighting an 1v1 against shattermesmer is difficult.

why would pets atk clones if ranger puts his mark on u, and tells pet to atk u, just why?
in pve when al doesnt get halfway controlled by players its undderstandable, but in pvp it isnt, and rangers r pretty weak anyway(besides those condi rangers (in my opinion))
channeled skills r fine as they r, dont try to change that, they r very limited either.
ALL professions have means do deal with stealth, via AOE dmg, cleave, applying reveled and even auto attack (as a thief is what i do, auto attack)
Devs keep adding more and more counters to stealth so stop the stealth is op whinning and L2P.This is an issue that has been in game since beta and was never addressed, since a-net is adding more and more counters to stealth i also believe that the time as come to FIX this.
going off topic a bit, devs are giving other professions tools to specifically lock down thieves, when can we expect tools to lock OTHER specific professions to?
u said stealth is univeral and affects several proffession, then u said the devs giving counterplays to thief by giving them tools against stealth.

are you kidding me? Necros are:
- arguably the strongest class 1v1, with the only person close to them being a PU mesmer.
- highly valued in WvW for the current garbage GWEN meta
- very strong solo pve’r
- not wanted by group pve’rs, but neither is anyone thats not a Warrior, Guardian or Ele. And as someone who mains a ranger and plays nearly every class, “unwanted” classes still have zero problems getting groups thanks to the new LFG system. If a group only wants “optimum” classes you can reassure yourself the group leader is garbage and just looking to have his 100blades baddy warrior carried through the instance.

i play nearly all proffessions, and i do think that necros r easy to beat as s/f ele or tiff

i think its fine as it is tbh, stealth is probably the best defensive system in this game besides invulnerabilitys, but these r rly rly short duration with a rly long cd so ignore em
and the counterplay with channeled skills is fine, actually its not rly that much of a counterplay, for example gs1mesmer, or scepter air 1 on ele does dmg in stealth if casted before stealth, but it doesnt show the one using it where the thief is unless u got fire sigil, its invicible for the user, only the one in stealth knows that he is getting hit
ofc there are skills like unload as well, or the pistol phantasm, exactly these 2 r real neat counterplays to stealth, it shows exactly where the enemy is and where he is going
ops, forgot ranger lbow2 and war rifle (the channeled skill wich is similar to rangers rapid fire), these work as well
how about using the thiefs weap skill mechanic for our mainhand pistol?
for example: pistol + torch : fiery shot, burns target etc
pistol + pistol : smth like unload maybe? like pistol phantasm
pistol+sword, smth like block , if it blocks u blink away from enemy and fire a shot from ur pistol wich dmges or does smth special to ur enemy, whatever

It was pretty nasty, in World vs. World. In other words, in one game mode. Basically you would take a small team/army of Mesmer’s with you, and they’d all throw down their Glamour fields, causing the enemy team to steamroll themselves to death. Yes, it was somewhat overpowered, and most likely still would be pretty damaging today, even with all the cleansing that’s going on.
I think the implementation of it in the first place was a terribly stupid one. Instead of working like an altered Ineptitude/Cry of Frustration/Wandering Eye/Clumsiness/etc. skill from Guild Wars, in how it would remain on target for a short duration, and deal damage once if the target uses a skill, they went with a passive DoT.. dot dot dot.. This made it practically useless in PvE, where enemies simply attack too slowly. And they should have been perfectly aware of that. They programmed it.
Was the nerf justified, sure. Was it a bit too drastic, yes. Are ArenaNet constantly making this game more and more casual, removing anything that punishes poor play and rewards skill, yes. Is this game being dumbed down further and further, mhm. Watch, they’ll start nerfing interrupts soon. Can’t have people getting interrupted from their skill spamming.

You cant use macros to play more than one note at a time. If A.Net catches you it is a permaban.
i mean ,r u destroying ur usual keybindings, and making it like a piano etc

iWarden bug? never had that before, must have gotten bugged w the recent patch!
jokes aside, iWarden fails 95% of the time against non regular stuff, and even against the usual foes, it has a pretty high chance not to spin
lvling a mesmer is tough as mesmer as probably the most traitheavy proffession in gw2, and as lvl 30 u barely got some traits, mesmer can be fun at max lvl, when u can actually get traits wich work properly together w shatters
anyway, lvling a mesmer is hell, i am glad it was my first proffession

gwen is the meta of mostly organized wvw grps , and those organized zergs r mostly made of these 4 proffessions, ofc there r 1-2 mesmers, and 1-3 thiefs nearly all the time

celestial amu pvp mesmer build! idk how to build it yet, but would make celestial viable if ur enemy has an hambow (thats even almost guarenteed) , a celestial ele, etc

and op, u r so wrong, everything in open world (soloplaying) is easy. u just dont manage those proffessions yet.
the problem in pve w specific problems is, they dont have enough support for the team, for example, compare necro to an ele , the difference is huge:
necro, has high SINGLE target dmg, but not as high as staff ele, and staff ele is using aoe + doing more dmg to single targets in pve as well
staff ele can stack party might, necro cant
ele can support w water fields and different boons, necro cant
ele has minor amount of reflects, can be used with aura share , necro doesnt
(ele also has swirling winds, if using focus)
ele can give fgs, self explanationary

I’m REALLY hopefully about the new changes. This could be a really big turning point for Mesmers in PvP. Here are the things I’m really hoping for:
-AoE in offensive Mantras
-AoE in GS#3 (we all know it could be a thing) this will give us a huge leverage against thieves and SR.
-Bug fixes. We may finally have a fix to iLeap or iWarden
-MH Pistol……A guy can dream, right? XD

It’s a very strong dueling spec. Many people’s PvP in this game consists of just trying to duel others in WvW. For those people, their perception of PvP is very different from say, a person who plays Solo Queue or Hotjoin in sPvP. In Conquest, PU Mesmer is a lot weaker since stealth doesn’t hold points.
while pu is pretty awesome, it has a skill cap (its just awesome to a fixed point, no mather how good the mesmer playing it is) on my s/x ele or shattermesmers i mostly (when roaming) kill most of them, or if it looks bad i run away, in pvp they can be potentially strong, but due to them beeing in need of u to destroy their clones its not that awesome
i fear skilled shattermesmers most, they can instantly kill u, and still manage to kite u to hell during fights , they r far from op tho, in fact, i think shatters need some kind of buff

I believe the problem is the King of the Hill style gamemodes. PvP is completely one dimensional and promotes non skilled bunker builds. If they had gamemodes that required defending/assaulting and maybe some mobile elements this would not be an issue.
I am in agreement with this – well, that PvP pretty much promotes bunkering down more than anything else. I’ve had an idea for a new PvP mode, that would bring mobility back into the game, though.
Here’s the basic idea:
- There’s a golem or dolyak, something that needs to be escorted.
- When escort objective reaches a goal point, the ‘round’ is won.
- It can be hijacked by the opposing team at any point, as long as they can defeat the defenders and stay within the Capture circle.
- It proceeds along a grid, or through various paths, with the controlling/escorting team directing it at each intersection.
With this idea, bunkers would need to be able to stay mobile, and would rely on recon party members to guide them. If the mode found itself just turning into Thief Warrior Wars or something, then there’d need to be secondary/support objectives to hold – maybe an artillery emplacement, or a barracks that spawns NPCs for each side, or both.

My favourite implementation would still be a hold-down skill (we don’t have any!).
If you just tap the button, it’ll stab where your target is. Current radius, current effects. But targeted, huzzah!
But if you hold it down, it has two more stages with ~1s each. Each causes a set of swords to rise around the target, potentially hitting other targets nearby, causing the same effect (or the same target again if they moved). First a triangle of swords, then a hexagon.

the one in air is fun if u zerg w a staff, drop earth 4 or air 5 in enemy zerg, u see all the weakness procs, has no icd

arcana is garbage, earth could be built around w some skillful ply , like switching to earth before some guy is gonna burst u
1- it isn’t exclusive to thief
2- shadowstepping is very finnicky about what vertical movement is allowed. very, very select places, usually weirdly meshed edges and thin platforms allow you to blink through it.
3- seriously, shadowstepping is really finnicky. it’s not uncommon for a thief to completely waste initiative trying to blink to a certain spot, and not move an inch, when it looks completely doable (example: the outer ring of the crown pavillion is impossible to use infiltrator arrow on).
4- shadowstepping can’t cover gaps, something that leaps can. heck, engineer rifle 5 lets you aim, and there’s an environmental weapon that mimics that skill that people use to break out of map because it lets you jump around so easily. so there’s a tradeoff.

Infiltrator strike and Infiltrator’s arrow are overly abused by thieves due to a bug which sometimes allows them to shadowstep to places which are uneven. For example, hills, cliffs, and steps. In PvP they can shadowstep to steps which otherwise require a normal player to go around it to get to the top.
Please fix this since it is getting abused a lot in PvP.

Okay, here’s your fix. It removes all conditions and boons in an AoE WHEN IT HITS THE ZONE. After that it is merely a field. So if your opponent or ally is not in that zone when it goes down, nothing is removed on them, even if they stand in it. There, it matches the tooltip.
