Hm, here’s what’s been annoying me at some points: Manta of Distraction’s charges have a 5 second CD. That might not seem like a lot on paper, but it feels like forever in combat. Plus, I feel like the whole point of mantras is to give us on-immediate-demand skills, thus requiring us to charge them before hand or in combat for whatever consequence. If MoD’s charges, or Power Lock, had a shorter CD, like 2 seconds, I feel it would tremendously increase our potential for lockdown chain-dazing and hitting interrupts when they’re present. Now, my suggestion is obviously to reduce Power Lock’s CD.

However, I realize that such a buff might be taken as OP. It might even be so. Therefore I wanted to take it up with my fellow mesmers and the mesmer community on whether or not this seems like it would be a good idea for a buff or not before sending it out into the Professions Balance forum.

i use mantra of distraction to interrupt enemy heals x2, its insanely strong as it is instant and u can use it while casting smth else,

i dont think it needs a buff

i seen a lot of my cc (knockbacks mostly) get immune on engineers in wvw, and i dont have any idea what it could be, sometimes on warriors as well, i am pretty sure its not the condition to boon thingy trait, altho i wonder, anyone has an idea?

edit: did pay a lot of attention to stability, no there was no stability involved at all, 100% sure, did check it all the time, i never cc enemy if he has stability

i could see one thing tho, to make necros more wanted in pve (i dont play necro myself)
f2- create a reflecting bubble / or absorbing
it heals allys in it, reflects or absorbs anything that hits the bubble, it has infinite duration (aka till ur life force runs out) , it consumes life force as long as its up, if u tap f2 again it stops, 40-60 s cd (could be broken in pvp against some proffessions like rangers or longbow wars etc, therefor the somewhat long cd)
ofc the lifeforce consumation should at least be 10% /s
its ground target with 600 range, u can walk further away once its casted, u can gain life force with weapon skills while its up, has around 360 radius? like feedback maybe, could be smaller for balance
thoughts?

PvP is only stale because it’s boring Capture mode. Where’s the Team Deathmatch, where’s the King of the Hill, etc

there are barely some pvp players left, adding more gamemodes could possibly destroy pvp by splitting the players even more – therefor less pvp player- way more wait time- less times played

Or it could bring in new players. A lot of people I know who don’t PvP don’t do it because it’s a single game mode. They’d jump on the chance for a team deathmatch, or any new mode for PvP. Because Capture severely limits the builds people play into bunker status…Team Deathmatch would change that around with more builds being viable due to the fact that “anything goes”.

Thats Guardian Hallowed Ground…

Almost all Guardian cooldowns are higher than 40 seconds.

Meanwhile thief can step in and out of combat every 3 seconds.

As for mesmers, MH Pistol is the obvious choice, but what I really want Anet to add is a land Spear, it fits so well with the mesmer theme of precision and confusion. Evades, counter attacks, AOE, mesmers going Oberyn Martell… tho with the usual nerfs mesmers would end up like him.

Nah, I normally play with scepter so thats 900 range. I just think there is probably a blanket statement that is somewhat true “a skill rewards not dodging requires less skill to play”.

well if an enemy doesnt stop atking into ur reflects thats not skilled played and therefor he shouldnt get rewarded

1100 toughness, not even 13000 health… u won’t survive long even with ether renewal. Any skilled player, whatever class he plays, will melt u in 20 sec
travler runes? why? u should have non stop speed cuz the air refreshment on crit

i play s/d fresh air too but i builded some more survivability, i needed it but maybe u are more skilled then me

most s/d roamers play in full zerker actually to insta kill enemys, fresh air usually tend to be played glassy anyway

it is called a null field, please make it behave like one!

no, it will not be overpowered at all but instead working as intended to be after the fix. at the moment, it is a broken skill, good for etheral combos every 40 seconds.

oh, the recharge timer should be 30 seconds instead of 40 seconds.
also, duration should be 6 s and not 5 s.

as such, meet the null field as how it should have been:

gonna get right to the point~

mimic should absorb the first projectyle in a way that it doesnt deal dmg to us, for example ds1 of necro, if its a zerker necro we all know it hits dam kitten our first absorb we always get the dmg

when some projectyle with a cc is fired, it interrupts our mimic (on first impact like above) , its fine k but, it doesnt absorb the projectyle so we cant shoot it back to our enemy

more may come ~

i love using bugged portals with experimental gun and selfportals, so u can use ur own portal, its in cd, but now someone else needs ur portal, u just use experimental gun , drop weap asap before second portal opens, now u can put ur own portal wherever u want with its own cd

or u can put a port, if u die, u usually cant use the portal anymore, u just use experimental gun, drop it b4 second portal of it appears, wait till the electric portal runs out, tadaaaaa u can use ur portal wich u put before u died now!

The Op is as clueless as it gets tbh and he obviously started this thread to flame people since he was on Amon’s thread earlier spilling the same stuff.

You’ve been told this but ill repeat , the reason people aren’t happy about the changes isn’t because they are going to make our class unplayable its more about how unwarranted and unnecessary the changes were …..however for some reasons that seems to be too difficult for you to grasp.

You’re also missing the point.

Every class discussed so far has received buffs. Even warrios are in the green so to speak after that discussion. Rangers/Engies for sure got bufffed too much.

Thieves got nothing but nerfs. (Sorry kitten about 1050 range pistols…..uhh the only way you are reaching that range is if someone is standing behind the dood you are shooting at 900 range)

So currently thieves are in decent place. Neither OP or grossly UP. With these nerfs and subsequent buffs to other classes tho……..

You get the picture…..hell these nerfs alone with zero changes to the other classes would put this class in a kittenty place

hows war in the green, the adrenaline nerfs to zerker stance and overall new adrenaline system is a massive nerf, and it doesnt proc cleansing ire as well.

while i do think that not all of these nerfs were needed, s/d thief needed a slight nerf at least.

i saw several ppl just spamming skill3 and beeing succesful by doing so (ofc by adding minimal amount of shadowsteps)

@Fay: No? I think it’s rather common because without SA (for added toughness and healing in stealth+condi removal) we are practically free kills. At least when we get hit between the 5+2 combo :P

But yeah, if I am gonna make the first appearance he can go glassier and pick targets off faster.

S/D evade build will most likely get nerfed (ready up yesterday. check thief forums for whine whine, lol).

Anyways, I was more interested in my mesmer, so what do I do? ^^

balance patch will hit in several months so, s/d thief for months isnt bad iguess

The thief I am playing with is using D/P, 0/6/6/2 setup, with valk armor and valk weapons. Maybe I should encourage him to go even glassier?

D/P shadow arts? Haven’t seen that in a while. I’d encourage him to either go with a glassier D/P build or with a S/D acrobatics type (still glassy).

If You Could Take 1 Skill from Another Class

I just want mimic to allow me to actually absorb any skill to use later. Example: quickly absorb that incoming eviscerate so I can use on another. Be able to burst someone for 10k+ while shattering someone else.

At 1200 range traited, I might add.

this mimic rework would be so neat! abosorbing eviscerates or backstabs ftw!

i do know the small tricks like tapping the weapon change button thingy that cancels, or small other tricks, i probably know like99% of these tricks in gw2 alrdy :p

was just wondering how and when to use these skills with elixir gun, helped me out a lot! altho i still didnt end up liking elixir gun, to each their own playstyle i guess

Differences
Cannon, you can dodge a cannon ball coming towards you in real life.
Trebuchet, you can dodge a treb attack coming towards you in real life.
Skyhammer, you cannot dodge a nuke in real life.

No one in Hiroshima was able to side step, dodge roll or anything in that nature to a nuke attack. If anything, it should have a side effect like lava instead called radiation which you slowly die as well.

they just had no endurance left, it all makes sense now.

At least, you can say that they aren’t called Rangers because of that. The name Ranger comes from the Long-range reconnaissance patrols (LRRP), bad kitten s units that does long-range operations inside of enemy territory. So, something like a Rambo+SWAT unit crazy enough to kill the enemies on they backyard (think of Inglourious Basterds movie).

For sPvP, Ele is actually in a pretty good spot, in terms of tiers and power level!

Double dagger Celestial Ele is very strong and is either Meta or very near meta. You run 6 Arcana for Renewing Stamina, Elemental Attunement, and Evasive Arcana. You then take 6 in Water to ger MASSIVE AoE heals, and take Cantrip Mastery/Soothing Wave, Cleansing Wave, and Cleansing Water. Take 2 in Earth for Elemental Shielding. Celestial+Strength Rune+Battle Sigil+Doom Sigil. High team support with lots of boons, cleanses, healing, and might stacking.

Staff Ele can be run as a sort of pseudo-healer character. You play with a very similae trait array as the D/D Celestial build, taking Earth’s Embrace and Blasting Staff instead. Cleric’s amulet makes your heals massive, and the precious Water fields you put down can be coordinated to further sustain. You have great AoE CC. Take Energy Sigil and Renewal Sigil. Runes can be Monk, Dwayna, or Water.

Scepter is generally run as a Fresh Air burst build. Look up Zoose’s S/F guide on youtube. You basically take 30 in Air for Fresh Air and 30 Arcana for lots of attunement swapping and Evasive Arcana.

The thing about Ele, however, as you might notice from these builds, is that their PvP builds are generally:
-30 in Arcana taking Elemental Attunement and Evasive Arcana
-At least 2 Cantrips

Mind you, most classes have trait lines that they’re stuck to in any game mode, so this isn’t a problem unique to the Ele. However, the Ele is indeed quite viable in sPvP, and very strong for its ability to play:
-A burst DPS class (Scepter Zerker Fresh Air)
-A healer (Cleric’s Staff)
-A sustained jack-of-all-trades (Celestial Daggers)

Honestly, the Ele is in a good place in the meta right now.

In spvp elemental need 15 water or 30 arcane to survive damage. People use cantrips or focus to help negate damage. Arcane skills are great for burst specs.

thats not necessary. u can play s/d ele with no points in water and 1 point in arcana only.

(fury is necessary)

Ty for explanations:) I also have in mind sPvP, not just WwW. Anyway, i can go with staff, no problem for me, i just don’t like daggers much. How is survivability with a Staff? Is Air/Watter viable? Or should i run Watter/Fire (Earth)?

Eles don’t work like others classes, the attunements aren’t weapons that you have to choose. You need all 4 elements (20skills) because you are squishy.

- Fire: burn/ high damage/power.
- Air: stun/ swifness/damage/blind.
- Earth: weakness/immobiliz/blast fields/toughness.
- Water: heal/chill/vulnerability.

Camping one or two elements is a bad idea. Eles aren’t one of the top classes to master for nothing.
