Unless they split overflows into 10 people max I can’t understand how you would prevent zerg type activity. I don’t understand why it is your mission to prevent zergs either. You can easily find portals that no one is on because they are in a group somewhere else. You are falling into the mentality that you must follow the zerg but it is not mandatory.

Being overly sensitive to mockery is probably not the best thing if you wish to post on any forums anywhere.

Zehidel added quite a bit to the topic. Maybe you are upset because the person does not agree with you?

So then you are asking if… a mining pic will work on a mining node, or a axe will work on a tree node , or a sickle will work on a plant node? You see were I’m going with this?

“…and has the same efficency as an Orichalcum [Fill in blank for each tool] "

What about the next nodes that come out?

Again, you provide absolutely nothing to the conversation. Take your horrible attitude elsewhere please.

I don’t have a side. I have a question. And his answer was to mock me and with no evidence as to why he was right. I’d say that adds nothing. The person I said made a good point would be on the same “side” as Zehidel, except that he didn’t say it was one way or another in a mocking way, he simply said why he expected what he expected and made a good point. Zehidel was nothing but sarcastic and unhelpful.

Then people will come on and say it is no fair! I bought 30 extra spots and only got a crummy queen, but this guy never played since they created the character and got x that sells for 600g! Or they say ‘I need to by lots of extra spots or else I will never get the big prize, ANET is just greedy!’ RNG is RNG can’t really like one and not the other.

The amazing thing is that people that are on other threads screaming about how greedy the RNG boxes are come on here and DEMAND RNG gifts. The mental gymnastics involved are worth a 10.

Getting RNG as free stuff once a year is great.
Forcing to spend a lot of cash/gold into RNG Black Kitty Boxes – yes that makes me mad.
Yet finally I can buy those items for gold and event if they cost 200-300g I’m sure I will get them instead of having a chance…

I’m currently picturing people here in party hats at their own birthday parties. When they get a sweater that they know they will never wear (the inevitable gift that a grandparent or something would bring), they tear it apart in front of the heartbroken person that gave it to them and say “WHAT IS THIS CRAP? GET OUT.” The distraught guest/relative then runs out of the house, in tears.

That’s what you sound like.

It’s more like your strange uncle, who happens to own a sweater factory, decides to give everyone in the family the same exact sweater for christmas. Only the sweaters happen to be labeled with advertisements for the sweater factory.

You insult your strange uncle and his gift while he laughs, throws his hands in the air and rhetorically states in a very slimy tone, “Hey, that’s quality knitting. Your lucky to own one of those. I don’t just hand ‘em out to anybody. Know what I’m sayin’?”

Well now you lost me, because I don’t see any advertising.

But hey, why don’t we look at the GW1 version of this story, eh? The one where instead of having any idea what he gives you, your uncle dips his hand in to a big of randomly assorted things he picked up on the way to the house. On your turn, he gives you a brick (Jungle Troll). When he sees your disappointment, he says “Oh well, better luck next time! But hey, Jimmy over there got a freshly cut diamond on his turn (Bone Dragon)! If you blow most of your life savings, maybe you can buy it off him!” He then proceeds to give hundreds of bricks to the other kids, until a few blocks down the road, maybe one or two other kids strike lucky and get a diamond too.

A few different minis to choose from would have been nice, but I’m glad GW1’s system is dead and buried forever. I hope it rots.

It didn’t fail it is not appreciated just for what it is. Could they have given you 600g plus a precursor of choice, absolutely. They did what they did.

We’re not really asking for that. That’s not the point. Generally the point is that these minis are worthless in every way, because not only can they not be MFed but everyone gets one, so they’re not really unique in any way.

We’re not asking for hundreds of gold, something along the lines of everyone who’s 1 year old gets a queen jennah mini as well as a pack of minis from the new or even the old edition. Something as simple as that would have made just a huge difference.

Gemstore or Subscription

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yargesh.4965

That wildstar is going the hybrid sub route that can be purchased with in-game currency does not mean a thing about how well or poorly GW2 is doing with it’s strategy. It just means that they are trying a different system to see how it works. Wildstar will be a different target (mostly) audience than GW2, they want to see if a slightly (not hugely) different system will work as well. If it works great, if not it is easy to drop the sub system that is created with the game.

This game is brought out by Anet, they are part of NcSoft. NcSoft is coming out with a new game which is called Wildstart. It will have a sub, but they will allow you to earn your sub ingame as you can use the first month free with the box purchase to build up enough in game cash to pay for your sub. Of course you’d have to keep that up every month.

My point is, Anet went B2P with microtransactions. If it had been a totally convincing success, I am sure they would use it again. But instead we see new MMOs coming out with subs. Wildstar is just one of them.

My guess is that Anet did ok for themselves but NcSoft’s financial reports show that GW2 is not making much more money than Aion this year. Certainly not much more as you would expect from a new game. So I’m sure it’s good enough for GW2 but apparently not for new games coming out to adopt this strategy.

And as much as players who don’t buy gems are part of the overall experience, the OP is right that they don’t bring in cash but do bring in cost. This game will only survive long term if enough people spend cakitten the gemstore. And that’s a simply reality.

Honestly I like subs better because it’s a filter for gold sellers but also because you can expect more quality of a game. GW2 looks pretty but the limitations of the game are also clearly showing by now. And if a company has 2 games and one makes 20 million per quarter and the other 24 million but has double the players and accompanying costs, then the first game is a better deal for the company. It’s just an example, but sales and profit margins are cold necessities for companies and they only come with income.

I personally love underwater. Quite a few have posted on forums that they hate it. Also thinking about where your character is in relation to mobs is not easy underwater.

3 armour and 1 weapon (rare) gives a chance of any exotic (armour, jewelery or weapon).
Could be a precursor if your luck is good. Most likely some form of rare.
4 armour only give armour back (random armour but still armour).

Possibility GW2 Never Gets Full Expansion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Yargesh.4965

Yargesh.4965

It seems to be more a question of comfort zones. The method used by most games is to work on larger projects while the customers devour the just released content. This has drawbacks since people go through content much much faster than it can be created. ANET wants to twist this a little and people freak out. They even say ‘yes we are working on large things to consume’ and people still freak out.
There is also the tendency for people to see you can have something in a big lump or several smaller lumps that add up to the same thing as to take the big lump such as large lottery jackpot winners. What happens is that the money is burned through faster than you could believe possible. I remember seeing George Foreman on a talk show explaining how he went bankrupt and how he solved it. Basically he set up a corporation and had himself paid on a regular basis rather than having direct access to the money.

A mesmer fits most of your criteria. They are

  • good and range and melee
  • have great skills which are at least decent to look at
  • Not so good in PvP (although that’s the only class I play in PvP and I do ok)
  • Can be adapted to do almost any role
  • No Pets (but they have clones and phantasms)
  • Portal is the king of jumping puzzles
  • Are very very useful in WvW.

Have never ever seen this happen. Could you give me some form of proof?

So those people aren’t helping the bar move as well? It’s at a slower rate, but they are moving it and helping the overall progress. It’s not as if they are working against the other players which is more of what your post sounds like you’re implying IMO.

There are two kinds of Aetherblade pirate events:

1. “Lower the Aetherblade morale”, which is basically a “kill all of them” event. Doing this one, the farmers actually help the event as a whole. But killing champions over and over actually closes the event (morale goes to zero), so farmers have to move elsewhere.

2. “Kill the Aetherblade Captain”. This is where the issue lies. As long as you do not kill the captain, but you kill the other Aetherblades, more enemies will continue to spawn. If you ignore the captain, you won’t progress the event – it will just be stalled. But more and more champions will spawn, allowing farmers – here, exploiters – to farm in a single event by killing a continous flow of champions.

It’s similar to the Arah farm, when people farmed the Champion Risen Giant – by not killing the Giant, the event was stalled, and lots of Risen would spawn. By not killing the Aetherblade champion, the event is stalled, and (if a zerg big enough is there), a lot of champions spawn.

Nay, correct not! Innovate! Combine things that no one else has combined! Thus:

Moar – an innovative (and unholy) combination of moa and boar, created one dreary Sunday afternoon in Metrica Province by bored Inquest scientists. The moar is notorious for the unusual sounds it produces, ranging from a high-pitched tweal to a more guttural chiroink. While the wings of the moar are too small to allow for unassisted flight, it has been suggested that, given sufficient time (and the inclination), the Inquest scientists who designed (and patented) the moar will eventually succeed in making pigs fly.

Unleashed

You’re right, of course, about accepting the game for what it is rather than what it isn’t. The problem is ANet never really gave us a clue it would be like this before the game arrived. A lot of us expected a spiritual heir to GW1 and this game certainly isn’t that. And while many of us loathe that fact now, we are also stuck in some half-world between both game realities where we can’t quite get ourselves to give up on it yet because of the many fond memories attached to the original game.

Tachenon is right, they shouldn’t have called it Guild Wars 2.

I’m afraid a few, specific instances of “goofiness” do not, your point, make.

I can summon just as many “serious” things about GW2. Look at the personal story. People being murdered, loss of life everywhere, struggles to survive. It was not pokemon bubble bounce bumblekittenery.

Mufasa died in The Lion King. Scar nearly starved the entire Savannah after taking over. Zazu was imprisoned and threatened to be eaten. They had a leopard eat a baby in Tarzan. That doesn’t make either the diary of Anne Frank.

Indeed. That kind of stuff has nothing to do with something being “serious” or not. Take for example Starship Troopers xD

Absolutely amazing book, absolutely crappy movie.

ArenaNet has fixed and polished so much content, why are you concentrating so much on all the things they haven’t?

Because that’s the only way they can make and justify their point.

Completely ignore all the positive aspects but point out the negatives.

You see it a lot in politics (i.e. never say nice things about your opponent) and you see it here among MMO players.

…………..Whats the point on focusing positive aspects on the game, shouldnt we be focusing on the negatives so we can improve it.I don’t get your fanboy logic.

Of course we should be. But kittening and complaining about being ‘disappointed’ about not fixing the negatives is pretty short-sighted.

You expect the world out of Anet and a 100% bug-free game (go find me a bug-free game, I dare you) and fail to see that they have done a lot in QOL improvements.

I expect them to continue to fix bugs. Some take longer than others.

So what?People cant complain about stuff they are not happy about? Is that it?If I had a dead kittenroach on my plate of food and i complained about it im short-sighted.People are not allowed to complain/criticize the game?So you would want have the whole forum dedicated omg thank you Anet.Good job anet.Wow nicely done anet.Focus on the positives all they long huh.

When joining such dungeons, make a screenshot at the start with all the names and guild tags, especially if 2 or more are the same. Do the same after they tell you they sold your spot. That’s evidence leading to an inevitable ban. Tell them that, and that you’d like your spot back. If they don’t give it, send in the screenshots to a.net and have them banned fair and square.

Whatever you do, do not use foul language to any rude remarks. Just take their BS to the face because that improves your chances of having them banned.

Even if you get your spot back send it in, just my opinion but behaviour like that should be stomped on and not let off.

I think that you are too focused on tank healer. Yes an ele makes a good healer and guard is tankier but they need to be really polished up to fill these roles.
Get green on level 30 equipment.
Look at your traits and see which ones harmonize with the others play style (eg heal on dodge or might on dodge etc).
You really don’t need to move around that much unless you are up against a champ.
The hardest bit about ele is learning to rotate through the elements (fire then stone gives a really nice finisher). If you wife is sitting in water all the time you have lost most of her effectiveness.
Staff ele is only good in my opinion in a large group. Others like dagger dagger personally I prefer sceptor dagger for ease of movement and multi-npc combat.

The overall setup of this release was good. They separated the guantlet challenge out from the other jubilee content. They could have left them in which would have been a problem but they are a separate thing. It is called a guantlet for a reason, you run the guantlet and those that survive can brag about it with the mini.
I am personally crap at twitch and most of the skills needed for this and I doubt I will be getting the mini. I am not demanding anything be changed though certain things are annoying. As was posted above, the kick out in downed state to a spot you must WP away from if people just stand above you (or are often not there) is a bad design as is the cage floor interactions with the red circles.
Overall this is a really nice Living Story addition and I hope they continue in this line.

Ranger is fun and relatively easy. Never believe sub-forums people take change very hard.
Take something all the way to 80 does not matter what (unless you really hate it). This will be your break-in character. It gives you an idea of what to expect in different situations. Your next character after this will be a better indication of what you do or do not find really fun. I started a mesmer as my 5th character (after 4 lvl 80s) and found it easy and fun from the start, others say it is no good until 80.
Don’t skip levels using crafting at first since this makes you lose a good part of the feel of the character (many disagree).
