I play it for Roleplaying, so I’m here to stay, yet it been getting to me lately when there is nothing new or events are not happening when they should (Looking at you delayed Halloween and the living world not being back until Nov 4).
I really want new features to be implemented to find people you know even easier than whisper and partying up. I wrote it somewhere in these forums, but it got ignored.
I just want magic find to make a difference.
Magic find makes a huge difference.
It might make a difference numerically, but frankly, to me it doesn’t feel at all like it does.
My MF is something like +50% (before boosts, guild bonus, etc) at the moment and upping it is a complete slog; clicking on essences of luck has become a chore, but the real problem is how slow upping MF goes. I understand why we can’t just allow people to zoom their MF up to the max, but because it takes weeks or months to make significant progress in MF increase it stops feeling like it matters that much. By the time you get to 300% you forget what 50% felt like because it was hundreds or thousands of hours (gameplay time) ago – months and months of “real life” time.
This has 2 problems – 1) it means that by the time your MF is high enough to feel rewarding, you’ve played the game so freaking long that you probably don’t need or care about drops anymore, you’re probably bursting at the seams with money and legendaries, and 2) it stopped having any meaning long ago.
I’m not saying that MF should be converted to the “big spikes but less frequent” method that was similarly done with stats and levels, but I think that the way Essence of Luck is distributed should change. I feel like it would work better if salvaging gear should only produce “appropriate” levels of EoL; At lower levels players are happy to get Fine or Masterwork EoL, but once your account’s MF hits a high enough level, remove Fine and Masterwork from the (visible) equation and start tracking them automatically and silently and when a player hits the 100/200/500 mark, have the next item they salvage automatically pop a Rare/Exotic/Legendary EoL, that way I can at least feel like I’m contributing a big “jump” in my Luck every time I get EoL rather than it eventually turning into a horrible click grind.
Did you know that I would have to click almost half a million Fine EoL’s to get to 300% MF? That’s one million clicks of my mouse when you factor in the need to double click EoL.
That’s absurd. Clicking on Fine or Masterwork EoL is fun at lower levels, but they quickly become nothing more than wasted time/inventory space. Ditch them. In fact, you might want to just ditch them at all levels, and just make it more exciting for lowbies to get big chunks of luck. It moves so fast a lower levels anyway that I don’t think it less frequent (but larger) increases in MF would really hurt the experience; if anything it might temper the expectation for later so that when they hit “the wall” it feels a lot less pronounced.
Um don’t you know you can turn all those fine and master work ones into rares and exotic ones using artificer lv0?
You don’t lose any or gain any, it just makes them into the bigger ones making it less time to use.
@Astralporing – The MF stat hard caps at 300%, correct? But you can still pump it higher with food buffs?
That 300% means you have 3x the normal chance for any given item to drop. However, for something like a precursor with an estimated drop rate of only 0.0001, that only increases the drop rate to 0.0003, which is still infinitesimally small.
As you said, magic find overall has an incredibly small change on a per-drop basis. 3x higher is still a HUGE increase though, so I highly recommend people up that as much as possible if they’re going to be doing drop farming of any kind.
Luck only allows up to 300%. Achievement points: + 22% for 36k AP so far. food/boosters/wvw/guild buffs goes over the 300% mark from your luck (up to 265%).
Also magic find is additive to original rates not multiplicative. + 5% MF for a 3% drop is 8%.
At 0% magic find on a brand new account, your modifier for loot is 100% initial drop rate before diminishing returns. If it drop says 3%, it will always drop at 3%.
So when accounting for magic find and my above example, its like effectively 1.05x the drop for 5% and 200% will be effectively 3x and so on.
And this is the other issue that is arising. I seen a lot of treads over the past two years of those that want direct trading as we had in GW 1. Its probably the same crowd that would want to sell to lower orders to help friends, or feel cheated, etc.
Sure we have mail, but its a risk as you can be ripped off and your stuff stolen if the other person is untrustworthy.
So the better option is to press Anet for a CoD or IoD(cash/items on delivery) mode/options check boxes (for making sure your money or items is given to you for the stuff) with a mailing tax (stamps?) to prevent abuse as it has no gold sink when trading by mail.
That way people can still trade for what they want and for how much but still need to give a bit to reduce gold out of the economy.
Either way it doesn’t bother me so much as I always trade for myself and for profit. If a player needs something and I have extra of it they just can have it free of charge.
All this was a couple of ideas I had swirling in my head as I been hearing it at times by a “small few” as you say. Its out there, but yeah, not enough want it. I guess this game would not be for them.

Who voices the male bandit bomb carrier at the water plant in queens dale? “Here we go! It’s Exploding time!”
Many I talked to, or there was a thread I can’t find once, that a guy/gal was discouraged of selling on TP as he or she could not sell it for what he/she thought it was worth and not dictated by the current buy and sell prices.
He or she wanted to sell to very old buy orders, but couldn’t as the TP doesn’t allow that.
I just made a suggestion thread (with some of my cynical sarcasm thrown in) describing in detail what I recalled.
If we want to lose money by selling to whomever we fell like, why can’t we? It does foster better competition and gives us more control to what we perceive as value for something in game.
I know in GW 1 I needed something so badly I was wiling to grossly overcharge for something I wanted provided I had the money to pay. People thought I was nuts but I paid that much for it anyways.
Here it goes both ways: If I feel a scrap of silk is with only 50 copper to me (its like 3 silver+ now) I should be able to sell to a buyer way down the list at 50 copper without it bumping me up to the current order price and selling it to them and giving me a refund. That in turn cheats out that buyer that needed it for 50 copper.
(See my thread on buying a heavy loot bag for 48 copper by accident.)
Make precursors tradeable ascended weapons.
No the idea is to make precursors in a font color that people can always recognize; separate and different than any other rarity.
who they want to.
The pains of the TP, you try to order and a guy out bids you. What do you do?
A. Pull out your order and bid higher getting closer and closer to lowest seller causing equilibrium.
B. buy at a premium.
C. Wait it out. Surely the higher orders will disappear an you will get your items sold to you.
Yet there are those that hate this system of only paying out to the people with the fattest wallets and fat cats of Tyria. Capitalism is stupid you say? You want to give you r items to a buyer that you fell your item is worth not what the richest dictate?
I am proposing that the TP allows you to sell to the lower buyers and clean up the lower offers (as long as they above vendor price).
I for one really don’t mind for the increasing prices as I’m a pro-capitalist scumbag and
I want to make the most money possible at the detriment of others
, but I can sympathize with those out bid so fast they can never get what they need in time or for how much money they can only spend.
Yet being able to sell to any order price listed could help those that never got their orders and felt cheated by the system which is how a real economy works. As not everyone is selling a watermelon for highest price of 2 dollars.
There really isn’t competition here. So maybe the current TP is actually anti-capitalist after all!
I dunno I’m just talking out of my kitten here.
1. First i want to say that token system won’t solve RNG-problem as i see it.
Main flaw of pure random reward are people on both sides of the bell curve (as was said above). With tokens u will give all participants an option to get item they want but system with random reward is still there. In the extreme variant we will get this:
- people from left side of curve get 1 <item>;
- people from centre of curve get 1-2 <item>;
- people from right side of curve get 2 <item>;
Nothing changed from what we have now, except that people from left side can get at least 1 <item>, but they still feel really unlucky when they look on drops of other ppl.
That said, i think option 2.5 is not good if implemented in line with random – it won’t fix anything.2. Option 2 is what i think will be good decision. As i see it “…Y tickets for random drops…” means that next try will have better chances to give better reward and have nothing to do with tokens. We just need 1 variable for each account/character that will affect the quality of drop. And then each rarity family have its weight that has affect on this variable. As example:
*white item: +W;
*blue item: +B;
*green item: +G;
*yellow item: +Y;
*orange item: +E;
*pink item: +A;W,B,G are always positive numbers that meet sequence W<B<G;
Y,E,A are always negative numbers that meet sequance A<E<Y;Possible flaws:
1. Most tonics have yellow or orange rarity and will decrease chances of getting better rewards.
2. Orange and some yellow items have big price spread. As it is now most rare items are most expensive and it should be like that. This system won’t change rates of getting expensive item if we are looking at situation when player already rolled a dice for orange item but still need to roll for specific name.Possible solutions:
1. Implement this system with 2 or more veriables and each of them will affect own family of items: weapon,armor,tonic, etc.2. It may be a problem from the player point of view but in the long run we can’t predict which item will be expensive after next update (even devs can’t cause goals always shift). Perhaps precursors can be moved to unique family (they are in unique category already with that line in tool-tip of item).
At the end we will have system in which with every fail u get closer to bigger reward (at least i see it like that
).
What color do you suppose precursors now get for rarity then?
Red? Red was a rarity for PVP only skins/weapons in GW 1. It should be a color reused for precursors instead in GW 2.
Option 2 sounds more relevant to the topic than messing with an rng system in some convoluted impossible to maintain way. However, as described it reads like we’d get a token that if double clicked would give us another chance at the RNG treadmill. This is not what we’d look forward too, that would be the equivalent of just adjusting the black lion key drop rate so that everyone gets one every few mobs (2500+ hours and only got 3 blkeys as drops).
What I would personally look forward to is option 2 but something like a black lion ticket scrap type of ‘token’ that I can exchange for the ‘something’ that I would like or equivalent.
Example:
NPC trades X amount of said tokens for a chest of Y rarity. Chest goes through RNG for that rarity table for all possible items of that rarity in game. Items that fall from said chest are account bound so as to not affect the market for those items. This plays well with the wardrobe system and doesn’t affect the market tremendously when you salvage the exotic/ascended chest variants and sell off the materials that aren’t account bound – crafting needs to get cheaper anyway
Problem with your example is that I sell everything and I mean everything on trading post that can be listed. This will be bad for us that have no use for any of the majority if exotic gear which already have our gear.
It has to be sell able if this was implemented.
Same guy did that to me. I was like, “Wow…. just wow!”
When is someone going to fill my minimum price Dusk order!
Noone. The highest buy order will get it for minimum price and receive back the difference between minimum price and the offer
I was the highest buy order any how.
Anyone notice a female face at the beginning of that vision made out of the branches?
A caveat to killing mobs and doing events with others, “kill credit” and “event credit”. “Kill credit” equates to doing a certain threshold of damage to a mob. If you don’t do enough damage you may not get loot, yet event credit is not equal to kill credit which amounts to just being there and not afking and actually doing anything you can to help.
Trading Posts in Starting area still are present.
in Queensdale Trading post is at Altar Brook Trading Post.
As reminder, usage of Trading Post is unlocked at level 8.
Unless something has changed again.
IT IS NOT UNLOCKED AT LV 8 GOD kitten IT! The tutorial to explain it is available at lv 8. You can buy sell trade at lv 1 (or 2) like always.
Stop giving him false information kitten it!
This sounds like a good RP plot idea to me!
I somehow accidentally placed an order of 1 heavy loot bag at 48 copper (minimum price) and it got sold to me.
I have no idea how it happened, but it did, and that image is proof!
It is clearly evidence with this new TP system those that don’t believe in selling to the highest bidders or selling at the outrageous prices could sell to whomever and whenever they want.
If a precursor is only worth 5 silver they would do it— it seems…
That gives me an idea…
Drakes are a lesser dragon as GW 1 put it.
No Halloween on the 14th because of the stupid WvW and pvp kitten. Might as well just give us living world 2-5 instead and never have Halloween.
If you want Halloween just go back to GW 1 as its been up all month.
Having it only 2 weeks sucks I might as well not even participate. They should have had WvW and the Halloween up at same time. Every other MMO had Halloween up within first day of October. I know GW 1 probably had it up at day one.
I hope something bugs up royally now and we get a 3 extra weeks in November!
Fix the HUD more so that every icon and effect doesn’t shoot all the way off screen when you have every MF buff, banner and skill on you.
What I posted earlier: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/suggestion-We-need-more-player-finding/first#post4458679
All I ever could need next feature patch would be what I posted here.
I was thinking of a 4 stat one but called “Serene” a full support one.
Vitality
Toughness
Healing Power
Boon Duration
The title has nothing to do with SPVP or TPVP. Its a stat combo that needs to be made.
I want something comparable to zerker, but a bit more durable.
Power Major
Vitality Minor
Precision Minor
or
Precision Major
Vitality Minor
Power Minor
Name it Templar’s Stats and Dragoon’s stats.
Its still offensive but not as offensive as zerker but less durable as soldiers or the new one with azurite/sentinels.
Other idea was P/V/F (already existed as Valkyrie) or F/V/P (Erinyes) for Ferocity, but without precision, ferocity is useless in a sense as you only get 4% crit rate at lv 80 for no precision at all.
This will be for people more comfortable with critical hitting, but not increasing the damage beyond the base 150% using armor at the cost of durability.
Also a link to the wiki page of all existing ones: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item_nomenclature
Also I recall a thread a dev started on here asking for player feedback and opinions for new affix names and stat types for everything in game. Where was that? I went through over 400 pages and nothing.
Opinions comments?

I’d fully expand my account to its maximum. 8-10 character slots, all bag slots for each character, full bank tabs + maxed out guild storage, full makeover for every character, and then I’ll get my materials for my legendary and ascended gear for my main and my other two female humans if anything is left.
If you don’t Role play, you have no future here. We’ll be still here ushering GW 2 into a new age of MMO gaming and buying gems! Have a nice day in some other game with a terrible world and no imagination such as this one that has a great world and lore across two games and much more!
I’d make it look like Cantha and I and 90% of the Canthan thread will be happy.
My elemntalist, guardian, engineer and necro would like to have a talk with you anet.
They want to go home! So please release Cantha!
(edited by Yumiko Ishida.3769)
I keep logging in to RP and slowly work on things. As long as its a positive (mostly) environment for it and keeps getting better lore wise, I’ll be here.
I’d like a staff member to weigh in on this.
On a side note, Walmart in my area don’t carry them at all. They changed locations with a new bigger super one, and sold all their cards previously before moving out. The new store location doesn’t carry any.
I live in Florida, and the locations are US 19 and Bay Pines both as far as I know no longer carry the cards.
Unless I had a gift card for amazon, I would not buy them online as I have no credit card.
well I won’t be playing this game much for another week then. Just come on to roleplay I guess for now.
Every other game I’m playing has Halloween stuff out already what is taking you so long?
No one reads my posts of how I handle it. Just look at all my posts here. Thanks and have a nice day!
Seriously no one stopped and think of a “we all did it” angle?
They seems best for wvw and pvp for a tank build or a guardian. I was considering build for this for that reason, but I can’t pull it off atm due to not enough money for the rest of the gear to do with it.
Just run Living story on every alt you have at lv 80. You can get 100s of lockpicks.
I tried to gather t6 mats. I hated doing that stuff. I’m not a farmer by nature. I decided that its easier to play the market and get what I want as I’m capable to play the game at an economist’s standpoint. Or farm for a certain high profit or demand item of equivalent value then buy what I want after trading on the TP. Or craft the stuff that do make money.
I do have a business/IT degree, I might as well apply what I know to everything I do.
You should try what I do its called equivalent exchange.
Being that it is considered an mmoRPG…
A skilled Guild Wars 2 player will have a strong character name that is true to the GW2 environment and a backstory that is both unique and creative. The player is able to stay in character even under duress and only chats in /say; plus they only leave character in chat by using parenthesis. e.g. “I am Grogg the Imp Lord! (But going AFK…)”
They don’t need to be powerful, talented at fighting, or knowledgeable in all that is GW2 – unless their backstory says so.
:)
I see what you did there… A role player like me.
Being able to play their class knowing the full synergy of their traits and utility skills, knowing how combo fields and projectiles work, managing their endurance with dodging effectively, reading enemy tells and interrupting when necessary, also relying one each other’s skill effects to the fullest: A group doing these things I’ll value more than a stack and press one in stupid zerker gear.
I prefer long epic smart battles like that any day.
Meh. People have already found the next farm. It’s only a matter of time before its location spreads and we have another repeat of what just happened.
If its not needed for living story progress, then no one cares. If it is, I think its time I go through with that taxi to the dead maps promise I made prior to the last fix.
It doesn’t involve the living story but people will still care just like the Blix event.
Well I sure don’t now. Reason we hated coil farm so much as it interfered with our progress and our farm of LS with our 6+ alts.
LS is guaranteed loot which is why the smart players are running it over and over on every alt we get to lv 80 (all four chapters is like 80+ geodes and lock picks). This is why I said in another thread I can make more money doing that than fail farming/exploiting.

I really wouldn’t care if the economy hit rock bottom as I don’t farm like that or make money that way. I play the TP and find which commodity sells the best and easiest to get vs time getting and total value. I won’t say what I look for in the world that sells for so much that I can get 75 gold in a day (if I cared to bother) as it will become known to everyone, but I don’t really farm a place like coil and the pavilion 24/7/365.
So why exactly are you asking for a farming area?
For other reasons. Such as keeping the farmers in a place where they can be happy and I can be happy doing what I want like, RP, achievement hunts, etc. without interference.
Opening pavilion all year will be a place for them so I don’t have to see them or run into one of them that may troll us other play styles cause maybe they had a bad day and need to take it out on someone?
I’m all about least conflict as possible. Keeping them in a place where I know where they are and can see them will make it better off for a lot of us. Also in a place out of the way the living world or future living world content.

Yeah too little too late I guess. It is great the event was fixed so people can do it for the story now. I just have to get my Engineer there to do it then my other three alts to 80.
I’m about as confused as the OP and others here. This thread was started with the new update about a Anet stamp on mail.
From the 9/30 updates:
Anti-Phishing
“Messages received in-game that are sent by ArenaNet in an official capacity, such as messages sent by a GM, will now display the ArenaNet logo (or the KZ logo for Chinese accounts). All other messages will display a warning that the message is from another player. Official messages from a GM or other ArenaNet employee will always display the appropriate logo and will never display a warning message. Any message claiming to be sent from ArenaNet or from a GM that displays the warning message is NOT actually from ArenaNet or from a GM.”
Its not so clear as it should be: will it be on every in game mail, from all players or does this pertain to the emails we get on our game account e-mail (one we registered to play GW 2 with) to differentiate between you guys and the fake “your account will be terminated if you don’t give us your info.” Spam?

I would like a toggle to disable this as I want to salvage in my inventory pane in my bank not move a kit over to the bank.
Options would be as follows:
Double click to move On|off
If double click to move is off: use normal functionality of double click. On|off
I seem to be having this issue for a while since the last few patches. Players appearing offline to me but clearly online and unable to form parties with them. Only opening guild panel fixes it, but it occurs again next time I log in.
What’s not wrong here:
- I can whisper them fine.
- They can whisper me.
- They are not blocking me. I’d know if they were if they were online then go off as soon as I try to contact them/etc.
What is wrong:
- Can’t do any party functions at all. Can’t join them by right clicking them in chat or their health bar/picture/character. I can’t invite them either unless I type it out. Sometimes even then, I get a “They are offline.” message.
- I have to open guild panel to make them online again.
I wish there was a sure fire way to give everyone their own place where everyone can be happy and not bother anyone else.
