How about a Race Altering Potion. We already have potions that can be used in combat (Watchknight Tonic), so this is possible. Put it on 1 hour use, 5 min cool down so that it unrestrictive.
no please, putting such things on cool down is 1 of the worst thing in my opinion
Your logic on the analogy your presented makes NO sense at all. How is refunding points in a progression system that is completely revamped in any way associated with refunding the cost of actual items? You bought them and they are still good. In fact, they have BETTER functionality than before (you CAN swap them).

I think it’s best to use a real life analogy here.
You buy gas for $3.00 a gallon and the next day it’s $2.69, you only drove 5 miles since the last fill up. You walk up to the gas station and demand for compensation and refund for the change.
Just like the Gas station, ArenaNet is not responsible to refund for any changes as you signed an agreement just to play the game that gives them full rights to change anything.
and you forgot to mention that such actions will kitten off the customers.
Since the ascended items are account bound, will the ascended items like amulet that i bought for my alternate characters be refunded? I bought 2 zerker amulet.
also, will the laurels be refunded for zerker equipments? since now you have introduced ferocity.
