1 thing that annoys me about combos

Zenyatoo.4059

3 or more ele’s is overkill really.
The combo’s do not justify the loss of DPS you will get by running triple ele.

What I would like to see from combo’s is stronger versions of conditions. When you shoot through a poison field, I dont want to see additional poison, I want to see disease. When you shoot through a fire field, I dont want burning, I want immolation.

as it stands currently there’s not much reason to be using most combo fields.

top tier:
Fire – might and burning. Burning is still a pretty strong condition, and short durations usually mean no toe-stepping
Smoke – Easiest blind spam in the game, total shutdown.

high tier:
Water – heals
lightning – vulnerability stacks up to 25 times, so it’s basically always just free damage

mid tier:
Dark – chance for blindness, but you have to give up better alternatives
light – Retaliation is good, but as good as might? Eh. Cleansing conditions is pretty awesome, but if you’re with an ele he’s probably cured them all already.

low tier:
Ice: freeze is good, but it’s not the most impressive combo field. Also anyone using a blast finisher into it makes me weep into my elementalist robes. (Why didnt you use that in my fire field!) It’s also very rare. Dont expect to see this unless you’re with a staff ele.
Poison: Poison is ok. It’s not bad, but it’s not on the same level as the others

Doodoo tier:
Ethereal: I cant number the ways this is bad. For starters confusion does basically jack all to monsters. So projectiles and whirls are right out. And chaos armor? Really? You’re relying on 3 things here. 1. Activation of the combo field through blast or leap (both of which could be used to more effect on basically any other field) 2. that in a 3 second timeframe afterwards, the person who proced the field is hit 3. That the effect granted by chaos armor will be worth it (spoilers: it wont)

It’s the only combo field that gives essentially no effect unless your party is struck by an attack, which is the opposite of how you should be approaching combat. Also given how strong attacks are from monsters, the single condition and boon will not be worth taking that hp chunking.

when faced with either 3 stacks of might (note: an ele can keep lava font on the ground almost permanently, there’s basically no reason to use a blast finisher anywhere but this combo field) or pretty much any alternative given by combo fields, you quickly realize that there’s no contest. If I cant shoot through your field to gain good effects, then im probably not going to use it.

Nicholas Sandford, aka Nick the traveler’s grave is in the graveyard in Ebonhawk, right next to a ring of small stones that mark the grave of Professor Yakkington!

Norn male level up shout “BY THE POWER OF ME!” Is a spoof of Prince Adam’s shout of “By the power of Greyskull!” From the original 1980s He-Man cartoon.

All the Asura technicians in the Fractal’s starting area look like star wars storm troopers! (very SMALL storm troopers, obviously)

Double bonus point time? Yakkingtons grave rocks glow at night because when he was alive he found that they helped him sleep better (as you are told by Nic in GW1)

I think this is easier then the plant one

AFAIK oakhearts and all variants count as plants. There’s at least 3 derping about in the same spot of gendarran, and a skillpoint that spawns 3 more right next to them.

Also there are a multitude of them throughout the game. Just kill them whenever you see them, i’m already up to 300 something plant kills.

Plant help, but no giant help?

Plants are everywhere, giants are a secreeeet. ;o

You need to kill far more of the plants though, no? Or is it 1000 giants at the max as well?

It’s 1000 giants too.

One of the issues with it is that players like to feel like they’re having a large impact.

Everyone is looking to be that person who gets the interupt. They dont want to strip defiant, they want to knockback/down/stun

If you’re running with friends, pick the person with the strongest CC (typically the one that lasts longest, like a fear or stun) and let everyone know that this person should always be using that when the defiant stacks are off.

Having removed the desirability to be the person who gets the final hit in (as doing so now is being equated with kittening up, as the role has been assigned) you start to see more and more people stripping defiant stacks, as they’re now much more at ease with using their cc skills to do it.

It’s also important to note that some classes do not have a plethora of “hard cc” (Hard cc is cc that removes defiant stacks. Think like the difference between knockdown and freeze) If you routinely use these classes, you may notice it (for example, a greatsword warrior has no hard CC on his main skills, so if you’re running 2/3 warriors like some parties I see, then only 2 players are ever really stripping defiant stacks.)

the npc calls it out to you. It’s up on the mushrooms directly to the left of where the npc goes to stand. There’s little blue lights on the mushrooms to show you which ones to jump to.

Yup see. Posts like this is why SoR cant have nice things. I honestly feel sorry for guilds like Choo who have to deal with server-mates like you.

I just find it amusing that you, a Jade Quarry player, are complaining about being out-manned during NA prime-time.

Because oddly enough we do actually get outnumbered in prime time. You’ve apparently been too bought in by your own servers propaganda. Do a quick headcount the next time you fight JQ. You’d be surprised how few people we’re actually fielding.

hell those posts about SoR taking our whole borderlands over the weekend? I was there, we straight up had the outmanned buff over our heads for a majority of that day.

Dont put a lot of faith in the stuff you read regarding JQ’s numbers. Maybe we field more than SoR or SoS over the course of 24 hours. But we’re easily outnumbered during prime times.

It’s just that during those prime times where we are outnumbered, SoR likes to hoot and holler and claim that they’re beating back uncountable hordes, when anyone who can do quick addition knows they’re the side with the most numbers at the time ;p

‘’broadside a zerg, kill 20+ people in the first skills, and then not 30 seconds later, another zerg,’’

You mean ‘’Bull Rush’’ tactic didn’t work ?

Im not exactly sure what you mean. But Noodles was ambushing your zerg, killing half of you in the opening few moments, and then a second zerg that still outnumbered us would stroll in from offscreen. Our options were either never fight zerg to zerg (impossible) or deal with the fact that you’d have twice our numbers, and take as many of you down as we could.

When did this happen? Just wondering, because I wasn’t there.

Around 6pm-10pm EST or so.
Fear was out in force towards the later portion. A good 30+ of you on the wall in hill at least.

I lol so heartily at SoR people talking about “even numbers”

You want even numbers? No Queue on our own borderlands:
Fear, TW, hitting bay, and then Tysm and VoTF hitting hills. We would teleport to one keep, wipe you, teleport to the other, wipe the other server. Back and forth back and forth until the both of you gave up and left the map.

Then later TW, and Fear show up again, and this time you clearly outnumbered us (and dont give me any bullkitten about this one. Your zerg in hills clearly had at least 20 more people than we did, and you were hitting bay at the same time) and we still held for ages. And while you were doing this, we took bay and hills on your borderlands (because you had sent so many people to our BL rather than defend your own home)

All this talk of JQ pvdooring, but the only time SoR ever seems to take anything is when we’re outnumbered by miles. Ofc they then come brag about it on the forums, and then to top it off complain that we’re outnumbering them! It’s hilariously laughable.

I honestly cannot count the number of times today that noodles would broadside a zerg, kill 20+ people in the first skills, and then not 30 seconds later, another zerg, just as, if not larger, than ours would rush us. And then you have the absolute gall to talk about open field fights as if they were some end-all measure of skill. Spoiler alert: your own numbers were winning you most of those open field engagements, not any individual or team skill. You werent portal bombing, stacking, ambushing, or anything that requires more co-ordination than “follow the commander” you were rushing forward and winning by sheer force of numbers.

Go watch tysm sometime. They actually engage zerg fights with a bit of thinking. I know when tysm is attacking us because it comes out of nowhere. With SoR it’s always “Oh hey, look at the 60 people making a mad dash towards us. I bet they’ll brag about winning this fight later even though they’ve got double our numbers”

Super special funfact time:
We had no queue on any borderlands for at least 4 hours of primetime NA
Our EBG queue was 10 minutes long, even when we were holding mendons/anz and attacking the overlook.

Hell I dont even know why I expected any change in SoR. Back when I was fighting you from fort aspenwood months ago you were the exact same. We all used to joke that the most arrogant players had all somehow wound up on the memorial server. But hey, whatever, I guess T1 doesnt actually change servers.

Probably gonna get an infraction for this post. But someone had to lay down the truth.

For all you members in tysm, VoTF, and the rest of SoS, keep fighting the good fight.
For those of you in Choo, keep running those pain trains on EBG (and maybe dont kill my yaks so much ;__;)
For the rest of you (and TW especially) maybe take a step back and re-evaluate yourselves.

glows. Its hard to find legendary armor that people will immediately recognize as legendary without going over the top.

But slap a glow on it. Like an aura that applies around the player? You immediately will know it’s legendary gear.

Heck you see it with some legendaries ingame already. without knowing what frostfang looks like you’d probably just assume it was a normal axe (heck the model looks similar to the kodan, and corrupted weapons) but suddenly the person walks forward and those footsteps instantly show you that the axe is a legendary.

Part of a legendary is to distinguish you. Yes some of them also look cool as all hell, but that can be hard to do with armor sets. It’s easier to apply some effect to them that normal gear wouldnt possibly have.

Went to the abaddon temple. As far as I can tell the asura simply try to open a box that explodes rather than the temple. No current way of getting in.

Also killed lady glaive, nothing there.

And, the turga waypoint appears to have no dynamic events.

I went all over straits of devastation, I cant find an open world boss that would possibly drop it besides the lady glaive, and I dont like fighting her enough to want to farm her.

The "Inspect Gear" Discussion.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zenyatoo.4059

Zenyatoo.4059

Its a good feature, and anyone who talks about elitism needs to get over themselves.

Lets run through some hypotheticals:

You join a group for fractals. They inspect you and find you dont have enough AR. They ask if you forgot to equip your rings. If you cannot equip enough AR. You get the boot.
This is fair and just. While a skilled player can make up for a lack of AR, you are trying to get the party to take you on faith that you are skilled enough. This isnt fair to the other 4 people. No one should have to rely on the idea that a PuG is skilled.

You join a party for CoF farm. They inspect you and find that you arent running zerker gear. They ask you to switch and when you cannot they kick you.
This is fair and just. Part of the CoF farm is doing it as fast as possible, this means zerker gear. Yes a skilled player may still outDPS a non skilled one, but that doesnt mean you can, and your party again would have to take you on faith of your abilities, which they (quite correctly given the standard of most PuG’s) wont.

You join a group, they inspect you and find you dont have exotic gear. They kick you.
This is fair and just. Exotics do make a serious difference. I really shouldnt have to explain the basic process by now.

Complaining that you will be kicked by parties is honestly entitlement. You are demanding that parties take you because you perceive yourself to be just as strong/capable as people who have natural advantages over you due to their gear. Even if you were correct (and you probably are not. As gear is easy as balls to obtain, so if you cant get a proper gear set, then you probably arent as good as you think you are) you are still demanding that 4 other people take you on your word, and be prepared to carry you if you’re wrong. No one wants to do that.

The argument is self-defeating.
Take a party of full exotics, and one in not full exotics.
Do you honestly believe the not full exotics party will clear just as fast and as easily as the full exotic party? If so then you dont have a problem, simply form parties specifically for not full exotic players and do whatever it is you need to. If you dont believe it will be as fast/easy then you know exactly why people would kick you for it.

Elitism is just entitled whiners complaining that every party should cater specifically to them, despite them not meeting (the absurdly easy) requirements of that party.

Also holy kitten being able to just right click someone to view what awesome looking armor they’re wearing would be sweet as all heck.

Could be it was not intended to be this hard to find, but a combination of elements have lead to it being more rare than expected.

At this point i think we should focus on out of the way events or event chains that are not regularly farmed.

BTW, i had a look at the Plaza of the Lost Wisdom. And if it is there, i can understand why it has been “overlooked”. The pact team rescue event was crawling with risen acolytes related to the event, all within a enclosed area with limited entry.

And on that note, there is supposedly a Champion Risen Turtle down there. But i can’t find any data on such a creature elsewhere in the wiki.

dart in and back out then hook around a corner. The acolytes all clump up. It’s how I cleared them out on my warrior. Im curious though about how those 2 asura get down there in the first place. If it’s part of an event then maybe being there before they die would let you open the temple. I may try that this afternoon.

I was doing map completion on my second character, and while stumbling around tarnished coast.

1. There’s a dynamic event right in front of the abaddon temple. However the asura claim they didnt manage to open it. Possibly they do open it if someone is there to defend them? (they were dead when I arrived, and the event was “escape”)

2. In the (I want to say its called turga waypoint) there’s a skillpoint called “grenths graveyard” and a whole bunch of asura who refuse to talk to you nearby. Perhaps an event that starts there relating to the location might spawn a chest.

3. There’s the lady glaive champion monster I gave up on trying to solo near the west of the balthazar temple. Lady glaive has been dead since GW1. You free her spirit in a GW1 dungeon, and now her corpse is back in GW2. Perhaps an event, or maybe even just lady glaive herself could be prospective places to look.

Honestly my final thoughts regarding final rest is that it’s probably from somewhere in Orr.

AS such I reckon we should start to list area’s in orr that no one ever visits, and see if there are any dynamic event chains around there.

For example in the cursed shore you have
1. the labyrinth, which has the groundskeeper that I have never seen killed ever
2. The entire area behind jofasts camp which seems to have no purpose

In the straits of devastation you have the entire ocean. Has anyone hung around the abbadon temple and/or done any dynamic event near there?

Malchors, again, events no one does, places people dont go, ignore the temples, search the oceans, the cliffs, go where men have never gone before!

My wife is mad at whoever’s (JQ) idea it was to walk the golums back and forth through the open gate, while I was dumping oil on you, over and over again. My laughing woke her up even though she was upstairs on the other side of the house.

Great fights in SM.

Part of the problem was we had no one on TS with us. Hell even our commander wasnt on. And no mesmer co-ordination. We broke the gate just as you started dumping the oil, and the 4 of us promptly peaced the scene. The other 4 waltzed up (having not taken the portal that was called out on TS) and promptly got pooped on.

At least, assuming this was the first golem rush, the one that didnt take SM, and not the second one that did.

The EBG TS for JQ is horribly lacking throughout the day. And for a good long time after we took SM there was no commander, no plan, no rallying or grouping of any sort. It’s a little disappointing to go from massive fun fights to suddenly everyone’s running around like headless chickens because our commanders are all squandering themselves in the borderlands (Im looking at you JQBL. You had 8 commander pins in the TS! ~.~)

EBG has always been a struggle for TS because there are so many guilds with different comms there. Also keep in mind most days the EB que stops people from getting in or wanting to que up. Over the weekend EB que with the bugs was horrendous reset night over 3 hrs. And weekend peaks of 2hrs after that. Those que’s caused us not to send guilds to EBG during the weekend. Though now most of us roll together for one reason or another. Just because people have pins on TS doesn’t mean they want to lead/need to lead.

The queue was only about 15 minutes for EBG if that (plenty of people left after no commanders were on the map)

Also, if you have a pin on in the TS you should really be prepared to lead if you’re needed. Hell we didnt even need a good commander. We literally just needed a pin on the map that people could see so they’d know where to go.

Im well aware that its much more fun to do WvWvW as a guild, and that the Queues for EBG can suck horrible horrible balls. But letting EBG go commanderless when we just took Stonemist is probably the worst tactical misstep i’ve seen in this or any bracket. :/

2 fractal greatswords in the same week
3 precursors, one of which was dusk, from a random monster.
over a 50% success rate when making his clovers
Metric tons of rares every day.
3 lodestones and 20 cores in a 5 hour period of CoF

I on the other hand
0 fractal weapons
0 precursors (hell, I had to go 900 hours before I saw my first exotic drop. And ive only gotten 2 since then)
under a 25% success rate with my clovers
2 rares a day if im lucky
3 cores in the same timespan (we were in a party together the whole time)

My luck has always been this way. Im literally known as the unluckiest person in my entire guild.

Perhaps RNG is RNG. But out of about 15 people, all of whom have put in over 1000 hours, I am by far the unluckiest of all of us, by quite a wide margin. Even RNG cant account for all of that. :/

1 thief is actually optimal for CoF, they have the fastest gate control possible. (By the time you do a hundred blades on warrior they’ve already broken it.)

My fastest times have been 2 warrior 1 thief 2 mesmer. All DPS, all actually working together. (1 time warp for slaver driver, mesmers and thief take the back two acolytes with range, thief has the fastest gate control, and then you can double up on timewarps for the effigy [Which is faster DPS.])

Haha. 3 of us went to speldan. We tried taking it but had to stop and kill some SoS. Then inspiration struck. We were going to lure the champion spirit into the camp.

So we started, and then not halfway through the luring, an SoR zerg showed up to the camp! Completely oblivious!

Sacrificing myself, I dragged the spirit into the middle of them, died, and promptly got some popcorn to watch the carnage. That spirit downed at least 8 of them before the main event started, the arrival of SoS.

One stealth res later courtesy of my mesmer (and apparently one kitten sharpshooter, remember this) we watch SoS fighting the spirit. Eventually a few peel off and kill us. Sad day.

So we come back, because why not. And that’s when it hits us. We’re going to steal this motherkittener from right out under the SoS zerg. We sneak around the back and build a ballista, our mesmer mans it, and me and the guardian creep around the back, ready to run in and go for the gold.

Spirits at 5%, we buff.
Spirits at 2%, we charge in
Spirits at 1%, we die!
And then, against all odds, in comes the ballista shot, and steals that spirit from right under the SoS zergs nose.

One rez and runback later, I open that chest and get the best 8 badges ive ever stolen from a zerg.

Cool story and all but completely BS since in GW2 you can’t kill steal from any one, so infact you helped SOS kill the spirit, just like SOS helped you kill the spirit.

So I would just like to say Thanks to you for the badges I got from killing you guys, and thanks for the free badges I got from the Spirit you helpped us kill.

Even if we didnt “steal” it from them. We gave them maybe 5 deaths or so. And tied up an entire SoS zerg of 30+ people for about 10 minutes at a supply camp in the middle of nowhere. I’d call that a win any day of the week. Oh and the badges, karma, and money from my earnings of the event more than outweighed any armor breakage :o

For those complaining about the queue. The queues have been buggy as kitten lately.

I spent 40 minutes in a JQBL queue, only to find less than 35 people on the map.
My friend spent 50 minutes on an EBG queue, whereas me and another friend both got into EBG in under 5 minutes, left, and came back in, before my first friends queue showed any sign of popping.

Basically if you’ve been sitting there for over half an hour, you may want to consider restarting guild wars and queuing up again.

(This is mostly for the JQ folk. But it’s quite possibly happening on other servers to, I just cant speak with actual evidence for them)

There’s nothing wrong with it. You are not entitled to their party. And any argument about it is generally self defeating (If you could finish as fast as them sans warriors, go do that, as itll be easier to make a party drawing on 7/8 classes rather than 1/8. In which case there’s no reason to complain. Or if you couldnt finish as fast as them sans warriors, then their elitism makes perfect sense, and you’re asking them to take you on faith as being as strong as a warrior despite your class.)

Personally I dont want to see warrior nerfed. Warrior is in a fun place right now. A right mix of damage and tank, good options for any situation in the utilities, and plenty of good traits.
What I DO want to see is every other class buffed to a similar position. Ask an ele how many of his utilities he uses (spoiler: only the defensive ones, and maybe arcane blast) Or what traits of his he considers good.

I’d much prefer to see buffs to other classes to put them in line with the warrior, rather than a nerf to the warrior to put it into the unfun place the other classes are.

Its short, and the final boss is actually duo’able with relative ease. If you’re having trouble with the trash monsters then you may be fighting them in the wrong order, or your party may simple be undergeared for the encounter. Unlike the other paths, there are no instant 1shots, or supertanky healers in path 2.

As for the boss the trick is that when he enters his plague form shenanigans, he can only move in a straight line. Position yourself such that the straight line has to move through something, say, one of those boxes lying around, and he wont fly at you, but you can still totally hit him.

I have to go to class soon. But if you still want to do path 2 CM, i’d probably be able to help out around 4:30pm EST today.

SoS and SoR must have it easy this weekend on queues because we can hardly get half our guild members on the map (the other half being filled with militia or horrible commanders) and you guys are getting your monster zerg guilds cruise controlling around the map.

I sat in queue for 40 minutes to enter the JQ borderlands.
1 commander only, and ive never seen before
only 15 people following him
10 people sitting in the garrison (the only thing JQ owned in that entire map)
at least 60 people completely MIA. No idea where they were, and they werent speaking on team or map chat, even when asked.

35+ SoR sitting outside the garrison waving at us.

We lost the garrison about 5 minutes later. I had already left the map though, so I cant say what happened, but I assume they just kind of pushed through the 10 people there laughing while they did it. ;__;

People are very very bad at strafing.

Im serious, get good at it. learn to be pressing D and A back and forth at randomly intervals.

Not only will the constant movement not let you catch on fire. But because the tracking for projectiles is rather… special shall we say, most of them will never hit you. This includes the shamans projectile fireball. Also if you’re strafing and he drops the AOE on you, you’re already reacting, your fingers are already on one of the movement keys, and you can simply continue to hold it until you’re safe.

Moreover, the only challenging part of the fight is really the elemental phase. Not only do they do quite a bit of damage in higher fractals, but you’re also strapped for time due to the shamans ability to heal.
Currently, a LOT of groups go with a very unorganized solution which is usually
1. have a guardian use reflection skills
2. hope to god someone strips the shield or slows down the shaman while everyone cleans up elementals
3. hope you notice if the shamans shield is stripped because he can and will suddenly 1 shot half the party.

It obviously works better in coordinated groups, but in PuG’s it seems to be the De-facto strategy despite not being very good if not coordinated. Not only are placing your whole party in the middle of all the aggro, but you’re racing against a clock that you personally dont know the timer of, and when the timer goes off everyone dies if they’re still in the middle of the room.

A better strategy would be to take a ranger. A ranger seems like a weird choice, but entangle is the most overpowered move in game for that final fight.
Shaman pops shield → ranger uses entangle → team has 20 seconds to clean up the elementals before they even have to think about where the shaman is. No other class boasts such a long and powerful immobilization. It makes the shaman a complete joke at any fractal lower than 25.

Now, do I think rangers will replace guardians? Lolno, guardian is way too good for every other fractal. But I would honestly run 2 guardians 1 ranger 2whatevers every fractal group if I had the chance, just because they make the current hardest fractal much easier.

“Why does not anyone interest about the fractals at a low level?”

Because people havent figured out that the karma rewards are absolutely amazing.

if you’re fractal level 30, going back down to fractal 10 or lower nets you 8K karma for finishing. Even on odd levels. You can speed run fractal level 1 over and over for 8K karma. It puts the karma trains to absolute shame. If you get 3 quick and dirty fractals like swamp, ascalon and aquatic then you can get 8k karma in under 25minutes. (Oh, and that’s without boosters of any kind besides the passive one that is always active in our guild)

Also im pretty sure it’s not just post 30’s. Anyone at fractal 20 should be able to go down to pre10 and reap sweet sweet easy karma.

I think the trick is not to fail on your first try.
I wasnt even aware it was possible to beat simin and have trouble with the shard. To be honest. Unless they have changed the shard drastically recently.
We killed him the exact same way we did melandru, AKA standing completely still auto-attacking him to death over the course of a minute. two people went down to the wraiths, and then claimed the shard was invisible to them, but they could still damage it.

Does anyone get 10 legitimate rezzes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zenyatoo.4059

Zenyatoo.4059

I usually have to rez NPC’s. I dont know if that counts as legitimate.

When I play with my guild we all generally do not die. Or if they do go down its generally much faster to rally them via killing, which I do not believe counts.

and when I go to WvW im usually the first one to go down/die. Lots of people have a hard time engaging in zerg fights, they like to let someone else go first. That person is usually me. Also im a big fan of sneaking around behind the zerg and smashing them in the back, which happens to put me both right in the middle of every enemy, and also in the way of their soon to be retreat path.

So I usually just find and rez some npcs somewhere. (If I get the ascalon fractal doing my dailies it’s pretty GG, as you get at least 5-6 rezzes from that)

So. I noticed something while looking at the pvp locker today. The staff comes in between the molten and bramble staffs. Now, the pvp locker orders items in basically the same way every time (bramble → molten) is the usual way.

There are a few other items that also come between bramble and molten for their respective weapon type.

PvP Gladius – Honor of humanity Skin
PvP Nobles axe – Phoenix Talon skin
PvP Frog scepter – Anura Skin
Oddly enough all 3 of these skins are similar to ones found in GW1 (Gladius, Gemstone Axe, and Frog scepter respectively)

Unfortunately there doesnt seem to be anything that ties them together besides that they all come from the mystic forge.

Anura was listed as coming from TA though. If we were to assume the other weapons could also come from dungeons, nobles axe would be CM and gladius probably AC. Which would add credence to the theory that final rest comes from Arah.

See before this patch this used to be me actually.
1. Never got my wvwvw buffs
2. Opened around 300 dye, never got one worth over 5silver
3. Had never gotten a single exotic (a good 800+ hours of playtime)
4. when i’d run CoF my guildies were getting cores and lodestones left and right. They both ended with about 5 more lodestones and 20 more cores than they started with. Me? I got 3 molten cores and that was it.
5. When id do cursed shore with guildies they’d wind up with like 8 rares before id see my first, and I could not for the life of me get ecto out of them even with the best kit
6. in fractals it took me 18 days to get my first ring, and it was a magic find one. Two days later I got the exact same bloody ring again.
7. other various shenanigans regarding terrible terrible luck

Suddenly post patch none of my guildies can get jack kitten. They’re getting no rares and cores in fractals, CoF, or cursed shore. Meanwhile post patch i’ve snagged at least 3 exotics and about 20+ rares, not to mention lodestones and cores.

it’s like they fixed my DR and gave it to my guildies.

basically? Dont change anything pl0x! it’s good to finally feel like the lucky one :<

Monthly... salvage materials, where?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zenyatoo.4059

Best I can find on the TP is 28c whites items. Its 750 salvages so that would come to 2gold 10 silver. Seems alot of people are crafting low level gear and salvaging, but its not possible for me to do as I don’t have a large supply of low level mats for that :/ Going to keep looking!

it’s only 500 for the max tier of the monthly.

You can honestly find a salvage item (tattered garment, or something like that, scrap metal? Whatever)
Put a buy order for 500 of them. Get crude salvage kits for karma (check the wiki)
Salvage it all, and then put those mats up on the TP as sell orders. You’ll make back most if not all of your money. Just about everyone in my collection of friends did this monthly on the first day, and at least 3 people made money doing it <.<

Fractal Colossus/Grawl needs some work

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

I actually enjoy the grawl stage and especially the colossus. Swamp is the one that annoys me at the beginning, but every so often I get a group that can get it done. Dredge can be taxing because it’s so long and occasionally a group has no clue what to do to beat the end making it take even longer.

If swamp annoys you at the start then you’re probably not a very high fractal level. The problems with grawl and cliffside start at the 20’s or so.

Vial of Condensed Mists drop rate

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Zenyatoo.4059

Actually, you CAN’T get vials of mist essence from fractals lv20 and up. If you really want them, you’re going to have to grind lower levels (1-9). An alternative though, would be to simply downgrade a glob of mist essence into 3 vials, the recipe is on the wiki.

Actually you can get vials 20+ they drop from the jade collosus and barracuda

If so, your not suppose to be able to. I read in a patch that they said that vials shouldn’t drop past lv10, and globs shouldn’t drop past lv20.

Trust me jade colosus drop vials reason is they are level 80mobs and arent scaled up

specifically, anything spawned by another monster:
barracuda, the colossi, the wolves from snowblind, ETC can all drop vials even past fractal 10/20

Bring back the hard res!

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Zenyatoo.4059

Res signet anyone? Utility skill available to every class, insta-res a fallen ally, recharges when you kill a boss….

Teams that run without it gain the use of all utility slots, teams that decide to slot a hard res lose a little utility.

Just a thought to deal with how hard it is to res someone who’s defeated and standing under a dungeon boss.

Wait. We have hard resses already.

Every class except thieves have a hard rez. Thieves have SR to make up for it.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Resurrect

On top of that you have the rally mechanic too, which is an instant res.

from your wiki link :

Skills that revive allies can only revive them from Downed state, not Defeated state.

Thats more like a band-aid. Not really a hard res.

But if someone goes down, why wouldn’t you rez them? I’m so confused. Are people just ignoring downed state completely? People HAVE to be downed before being dead, you know. That is your window to get your rez off.

And when someone is downed and a boss places an AOE ontop of them? Or if someone goes down inside say, lupicus circle of doom.

There are times where rezzing a downed person is impractical/impossible. Unfortunately these happen very often because there are no concrete aggro mechanics, and thus no way for anyone in the party to intentionally draw fire so others can help the team.

Final Rest - Current Theories

Regarding the theory on arah.

Does korga have a chest associated with him? He’s the boss before the final one. I have literally never killed him despite doing path one about 15 times.

1. Arah path 1 (which few people did because the waypoint is miles from lupicus)
2. The boss is a nightmare to do for lots of people (metric asstons of health, and infinitely spawning gorilla’s that knock you down)
3. He can be skipped in his entirety by literally just walking past him, and ive never been in a group that actually bothered to kill him

I dont know if he fits the theme of the final rest staff though.

1. I think there is a rune that puts you into vapor form when you reach 10% life. I may be wrong.

2. Possibly the golemancer rune? I think it can spawn a golem sometimes.

3. Click a person, click open the party invite thing, it’ll automatically put them in there (it’ll just say the server name, then invade/defender, but it’s the person you clicked) then press invite. I dont know how/why you’d report this.

EDIT
#2
Superior rune of vampirism
You become mist when below 10% health. (cooldown: 60s)

#3
Superior rune of the Golemancer
5% chance to summon a golem. (cooldown: 90s)

it may be broken on your server (though I heard the patch recently fixed it?)

Part of the difficulty is that the pre-events are nowhere near where it spawns. The first few are well outside the swamp, and I believe there’s 2 inside the monastery? Something silly.

Your best bet is to wait for the next server reset (a maint or patch) then rush to queensdale and do everything before it can be broken.

Maybe he shouldn’t have died

There’s not a whole lot you can do if that boss wants you dead. the crystals are one of the few stuns (or in this case knockdowns) that will chainstun you if they hit in succession. Some knockdowns will knock you down, but then if you’re hit by another knockdown it wont apply, you’ll still be under the effects of the (now most likely ending) first knockdown. and you’ll be able to move before another one strikes you.

The crystals on the other hand will destroy you. If a single one of them hits you and you dont have a stunbreak skill it is entirely possible for the boss to 100 →0 you with no way for you to do anything. And if you’re playing one of the 5 classes that cant move while downed, you can get smacked around some more, (as will anyone who comes to try and assist you)

Sure you can say “well he shouldnt have been hit” but that means you’re saying that no party member should be even be hit once by a crystal, or they dont deserve the boss loot. That’s not even elitism, that’s just plain stupidity.
