lava elementals > bubble > revive teamates

imo

What build do you run though? A far tankier build is more useful attacking the bubble, as it cares not about your damage. Whereas a far more DPS build lets you 1-2shot lava elementals sometimes.

sometimes I wish fall damage didnt scale with hp. It’s rather hard to rack up fall damage when warriors get double yours just because they have higher base…

So your warrior friend should survive higher falls instead? Can’t have the caek and eat it

compromise by not giving classes with highest base hp fall damage traits. ;p They dont need them if it didnt scale! ;o

You my friend have most definitely bested me, awesome job getting the Master of death achievement… now can anyone best this?

Any warrior should be able to beat me. Keep in mind fall damage does scale with your hp. (The same height fall will always kill people assuming no fall damage trait, even though they have differing hp’s. Falls that hit me for 18k can do upwards of 33k on warriors specced for vitality. So in theory my fall of 11million should do more on a warrior specced for vitality)

As for salvaging, several people in my guild salvage as a method of making money, and over the past 3 days or so my guild leader has salvaged well over 40,000 things

path 1 – 20 minutes or infinity minutes. You will either clear it very quickly, or you will never clear it.

path 2 – hour – 2 hours. Long, boring, and probably the best example of terrible trash monsters

path 3 – 30minute – hour. Shortish, pretty entertaining, and probably the best designed of the 3 paths.

Probably LA, or the LFG website.

Account bound last I checked. Which was during this post, so ;p

shared exp without party, and dynamic event credit means that there’s no reason to actually talk to other players while completing zones.

basically if you see someone fighting a monster, you can walk up, hit it a few times, and get credit for the kill (experience and loot) without detracting any from the other person, and without needing to be in a party with him.

The same thing happens with dynamic events, in that anyone who participates get credit, regardless of their party setup.

This can lead to some severe anti-social behaviors, in which people dont talk simply because they dont need too.

well if your only experience is warrior that might be a problem

Necro is plagued (teehee) with quite a few bugs that limit their effectiveness right now.
Ele’s will probably feel the weakest out of all the cloth armors.

I’d stick with mesmer. I have been told by basically every mesmer ever that they get way more fun at level 40. Stick it out till then, and if you really dont like it after that, try a necro or elementalist.

CoF path 3 torch lightning part.

You are forced to fight 3-6 monsters by yourself. No one is going to come help you until you’re dead.

Well is it fun? That’s kinda why I want to see it implemented more in dungeons. Maybe focus on that gimmick so that it feels better since it’s the main focus..

Not really. But it’s not because you’re forced to solo.

I’m sure there’s a way to do the split up trope correctly and make it fun.

the issue with path 3 was more that
A. the timing involved – you needed absolute co-operation, and usually a Voip of some kind.
B. specialization harmed you – Each player had to kill monsters, and survive. More over, due to the timing, you had to kill your monsters at roughly the same pace as everyone else. This meant that anyone whose build was not designed around being able to deal damage while surviving an engagement (players who went full tank or support could slow the party down, whereas those who went full dps had to either tank for extended periods of time, or start fighting later than everyone else, and hope they timed it right)

The 5% magic find is the main stat. It’s a MF/Vit/Tough ring with a Power/Vit/Tough jewel.

Then why is the magic find
A. listed at the very bottom stat (if it was the main stat it would be listed 3rd or first, rather than at the very end, like every other ring in the entire game.)

and B. so very weak. Compare to yakkingtons ring which has.
50 power
50 precision
10% magic find
If the magic find is designed to be the main stat, shouldnt it be 10%?

Mariners compass incorrect stats

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Zenyatoo.4059

Just looted one of these

50 vit
50 tough
32 power
18 tough
18 vit
5% magic find

The problem is the 32 power. If you break rings into distinct stats, the main, and then the 2 others. You find that what should be the “main” stat for this ring, is much lower than the others.

Compare to the vassar ring

50 vit
50 tough
71 condition damage
18 precision
18 tough
32 condition damage

If we assume that the 5% magic find is = to 32 condition damage (based on their placements) we find that the compass has 32 power rather than the 71 it should have.

The idea is that the ascended rings have higher stats than their exotic counterparts. But the exotic ring has

67 power
48 tough
48 vitality
and then one assumes if you use the equivalent “gem” which in this case would be a seal of the soldier (if you could put those in rings)
20 power
14 tough
14 vit (and again, the 5% magic find becomes equal to the 20 power)

tl;dr
the mariners compass has +32 power where it should have +71 power.

Why does this game need to load this much.

Dredge Fractal does force players to split off at the beginning.

Yeah but it’s not really that noticeable, and you just follow the person through a different path (and there’s a gate so you can see them the whole time). I want something that gives me a feeling of isolation from my party.

His bubble does not make him immune to CC I believe. So players should look to be using those on him as he tries to move.

Also the elementals attacks are all projectiles, so you can reflect those too.

For my ele I usually
meteor shower when the boss is at 76% hp (first bubble is at 75%)
switch to earth and pop magnetic shield as the elementals spawn (I am now safe)
Throw down the crippling line
switch to air, throw down the static field, switch to water throw down the ice field
back to fire, mop up any bubble stacks he has and the elementals

Carry signet of earth too for an extra immobilize if he’s still moving after that.

The people who talk on the forums are much whinier and much more hardcore than almost anyone I’ve played with in game.

I chat with the other players on my server in main chat and they focus on playing the game and having fun. When I look at the forums, almost everyone is focused on obtaining things rather than doing things, and comparing GW2 to WoW, EVE, or SWTOR.

Most players in game are excited about the monthly events and new updates (including ascended items) while players on the forums rage about them, threaten to quit the game, make claims about how every breathe an Arenanet dev takes has some unexpectedly catastrophic effect on the in-game economy, and write up outlandish conspiracy theories about how Arenanet is planning to steal everyone’s money and ruin their lives with an eternal grind.

I dont find this at all.
I have yet to meet a single person who actually enjoys the way fractals are right now. Whenever people discuss their rings it’s always “RNG is bullkitten” or “Ive been at this for 15 days now and nothing it’s so lame” it’s literally never “Man I really like the RNG system”

Same for disconnections. Havent met a single person who enjoys those, or being unable to come back in. Plenty of “Wow that really kittening stupid”s though.

The fact is, the people who are “happy” are those who stand in lions arch for 6 hours, using the game as a chat room, rather than actively going to do the content. At least on my server.

Dont get hit? Or if jade maw, I assume 1 person can probably just not be on the final platform, I dont think the maws agony hits the entire level.

I was talking about Jade Maw. Your idea will probably end will the person jumping down to res and getting agony applied.

while im not entirely sure, as long as your entire team isnt dead I dont think the maw resets. Also the agony only lasts a short while.
wait for everyone to die
wait a few more seconds (based on how long the agony lasts)
hop down and go res them

Everyone should have moved to the safe corner, and if the person in question is shot at moving over there he can just pop an immortality (mist form for example) or dodge roll it.

Rez everyone, continue as normal. Before the last jade colossus dies, have the person jump off the edge backwards, such that they down on the previous platform, they get up, move back out of agony range. Kill last colossus. Repeat the first sequence again, and then proceed to finish maw as normal.

Now, this hinges on the agony not being map wide, and the maw not resetting if he has no viable targets in range, but players are alive. But if it works then it’s a reasonably solid way to fight him through crazy agony.

With Ele I would most likely go with a Conditions Staff or Scepter/Dagger build.
With Ranger I was thinking of going with a Traps/Crit build. (Sticking with Ranged Pets.)
I tend to roll into Dungeons with Guild members only because we can all be on Mumble and it just makes things go a lot smoother that way.

Might there be any recommended builds to follow?

Thanks!

If you go condition damage ele, stick to Scepter/dagger. The condition damage on staff is not exactly high (youve got 2 bleeds in earth, neither being the auto attack, and 1 burning in fire. Whereas S/D has burning and bleed on low cooldowns)

It’s not always QA’s fault. Software development is a complex process. If you found a bug within a few minutes, you can bet almost always QA did too. However, QA can’t fix the bugs.

you don’t QA after RTM. You QA before RTM.

Yes but QA teams
find bugs
submit bugs
twiddle their thumbs waiting for the next build of the patch to come there way
find bugs
submit bugs

and so on.
There’s no guarantee that any bug found and submitted by the QA team would be fixed by the devs. That’s why im always a little cautious of the phrase “Our QA team is aware of the problem” they were probably aware of it long before the players, the devs just did jack-all about it.

Stealth FoTM chests nerf

One of my findings is as you reach higher level fractals, the number of yellows that you get seems to drastically drop. I get more yellows doing my 20 dailies on 2 toons than i do doing 30+ progression.

This.

I’ve been doing the daily in FoTM 10+ over the past 2 weeks. And just the daily. I’d get 1-2 rares if I was lucky. And usually from a random drop rather than the end chest.

Went and did a level 4 because I decided I wanted to hit every daily bonus possible, and suddenly I was swimming in rares again, 2 from a chest, an exotic from a chest, and 2 dropped.

This coincides with how it was when I was getting up to 10+, which nearly everyone in my team scoring 3+ rares per set of fractals.

I feel as though the higher fractal level you go, the WORSE the chance of rares from chests gets.

Either they dont have a QA team for their patches.
Or their devs have their heads so far up their own arses it’s not funny.

The fact is, QA teams are usually VERY good at finding bugs. They work hilariously large amounts of hours per week, and they’ve gotten pretty kitten good at it.

The problem is they submit bugs, which leaves the matter squarely in the hands of the devs, who most likely ignored it.

I find it impossible to believe that any QA team wouldnt have discovered issues with the previous patch within less than an hour. I find it more likely that the bugs were submitted, and either ignored, or came back as working as intended.

15082 base HP: Mesmer, Engineer, Ranger

Theres no different in armor between classes of the same armor-type, and even between them it isn’t that significant. IIRC, the difference between full exotic light and exotic heavy at 80 is somewhere around 294 toughness.

One thing I saw recently surprised the heck out of me. I was checking stats without armor for info to respond to another thread. My 80 ele’s base power (no traits, no gear at all) was 916. I then checked my 80 Necro in the same fashion. With no gear, the Necro was at power 1306. Traits were 30 points, for plus 300 Power. Assuming the trait is adding just 300, that would make power = 1006, 90 higher than the Ele’s.

Has anyone else noticed this, and does else anyone think it’s odd?

double check you dont have a trait on your necro that’s giving you additional power.

Path 1 is bugged, but Path 2 and 3 are easily do able, 3 especially. Two can be lengthy but the final boss is not the crazy impossible wtf people make it out to be. The pull before it just have people spec for mass interrupts, AoE knockbacks, KDs, whatever and focus fire. The less dredge adds out the easier it is to manage.

The final boss also requires people to pay attention, you have a window while they’re self repairing to kill both so go easy and hold back if one golem is too far ahead of the other. Get them down at the same rate and all is well.

it sounds like they fixed path 2 then. For a while the lightning golem was quite literally nonstop throwing out those lightning fields. At everyone at once. They couldnt be reflected, and once you had burned your two dodge rolls that was it, you were taking full damage from one of them every second or so. It was, to quote my friend “Absolutely impossible. More impossible that 2 lupicus at the same time”

Paths 1 and 2 are completely overtuned.

2 was already one of if not the most boring path in the game, and then they went and made the final boss way stronger than it had any right to be. I think they may have silently fixed it since then though.

As for path 1, it’s still horrendously broken to the best of my knowledge. So broken that when someone posted that they had done it, pretty much everyone was incredibly surprised. The builds used? Guardians and mesmers ahoy, with perfect rotation on reflections, sanctuaries ETC. Such that you could eek out about 40 seconds of DPS onto a boss and hope it died or you would be overrun. That’s far more specialized builds + co-ordination than any other dungeon requires.

I have done up to level 31 with no agony resist. Once at that level it can be annoying. You cannot go an entire run at that level and not get hit by agony at least once. There’s always that wtf just happened moment… and that becomes annoying. So I’ve decided to just sit on level 30 and do the daily till I get something good, haven’t had any luck so far.

I would much prefer that the rings be made available with tokens also, some people just have rotten RNG, I know someone who’s been at it since it came out and still has no rings to show for it. They do however have stacks of tokens just sitting there… It must be mighty depressing.

Harp on about L2play all you want, but learning to play has no affect on Random Number Generation. Even if you feel you don’t need them, I’m sure you still want them, I’m sure you would be pretty annoyed if you had done 15 dailies and still had no rings to show for it. Hell if everyone just learned to play, they may as well just delete their rings when they receive them.

just a note: Make sure you do fractal level10, 20 and 30 per day. This will give you 3 chances of the ring every day. It’s still a poopy system, but hopefully it’ll cut down on the time before you get a ring.

You are kittening kidding right? Look at the party composition, I don’t want to be forced to come up with a party like that because of tons-of-hp/regen-and-no-strategy boss.

I see parties being forced back into holy trinity, even more noticeable at Fractals now.

I did it with 3 ele’s a necro and a mesmer. The necro wasnt even aware that he had skills that cause poison (I wish I was joking) so that tells you how terrible he was. The mesmer wasnt DPS specced, and elementalist probably has the lowest single target damage in the game.

You dont need overwhelming levels of damage to do this boss by just whacking her in the face till she dies. Just more than average.

I’ve had to down a thief 3 times in a row once because he rallied off my silly teammates twice, and then finished an event which leveled him up and rallied him once more (and put him back to full while launching me away and knocking me down -.- )

timer for EVERY world boss?

nope
Because the others are all based on finishing events before they start. So there’s no way to accurately gauge it.

For example, the fire elemental requires you to finish any current event in the reactor, then kill the chaotic material, then escort roomba, then defend her for 5 minutes, and THEN the elemental shows up. The issue is that there’s no defined time between those things happening.
Same for things like the jungle worm, which requires the long swamp event chain to be finished.

also the dragons are the ones with the super cool end chests, the other world bosses are kind of meh reward wise.

I don’t intend to spend much time in that state anyways

“I dont intend to spend much time in that state anyways”
And that’s because you dont play an elementalist. ;o

@ Dank
So the elementalist has one thing that makes them really good at tower defense. Who cares? Mesmers have unparalleled advantages in certain offensive’s due to their ability to bring their entire team beyond chokepoints. But that hasnt been nerfed either. Thieves are able to delay the capturing of points longer and with more ease than any other class. Warriors can pick off single targets uninhibited (the only counters to it are only relevant if you’re aware of the warrior and can see him doing the animation, which is often not true for large scale engagements) And so on. A variety of classes have a variety of things that only they can do. The overall usefulness of being able to get back into a tower over and over is still less than portaling your entire team behind 8 enemy arrow carts and 4 ballista. It doesnt really deserve a nerf.
