Yeah so that’s the other reason why I’m not expecting much. Even if the thief gets buffed, it might stay in the same place relative to other classes.

Plus we all know, that Karl balances…. While the other devs go ham. And the devs work in different city and unfortunately don’t have any way to communicate… not even by skype or email…

I suspect a 5-10% damage buff on AA’s.

Don’t know what they will do with acro. Considering it’s all too useless and so not picked too often, it might remain there, which means that nothing “bad” happened… Maybe they will joking add trap traits into it… Like on dodge/evade you drop a trap… Or maybe, they will gut it some more, for the next elite… who the kitten knows, honestly…

So, to start off, just want to say that HoT is far from P2W – whether that’s supporting the white knighting that’s going on or not.

The thing that erks me though is the way you define P2W, “to stay current”…

My definition is: Micro-transactions that give you a clear (number-wise) advantage.

In the case of Maple Story, at least way back when i played it (ver. 0.25 to 0.40, yes long kitten time ago), they began transitioning into becoming P2W with the introduction of 100% success scrolls whilst providing stats that only normal 10% scrolls did – from what I vaguely remember. (For those that don’t know how the scroll/weapon upgrade system works in MS – from what I remember – is you could use scrolls that could fail and destory an item or succeed and give a stat boost… So like normal 100% scroll would give +1 damage (let’s say), 50% scroll would give +5 damage, and 10% would give +10 damage… Then came the cash-shop scrolls, where cash-shop-bought 100% scroll would give you +10 damage…)

In the case of RF Online, you could buy ceramic/fire/poison ammo – that gave either either elemental damage, or a flat damage increase. This ammo was not found anywhere else besides the cash shop. That’s a clear P2W example… (Though, it didn’t have as much weight as one would think…)

Essentially, a system that allows you to pay to increase stats, and you can pay more to increase more (without much of a cap, or well, might be a cap for the sane people not willing to drop +$2k)…

My definition is far from perfect too, you can be a “lawyer” and find loop-holes and say “but the elite specs give a clear advantage” or something of the like…

Just, from time to time I pop into these kinds of threads, discussing P2W… and notice that the definition (or well, the tolerance) has been stretched way too thin… To the point of making seem, like me having a better internet connection or a “better” mouse means P2W…

Expansions are, generally, far from P2W… that’s like kittening that SC1:BroodWars was P2W – because hey, you got new units and more content than those owning just SC1.

What expansions do, generally, mean is that the game moved onto the next stage if you will… Comparing the new stage of the game versus the old stage of the game, is a bit silly in itself, and then tagging on that it’s P2W is a bit absurd… – You are allowed to compare things like, how much content was brought in vs how much was in the vanilla and the prices of each (hot topic!)…. If you choose to remain (for whatever reason) on the old stage of the game, then you should keep w/e judgement you have within the limits of the old stage of the game…

The major point of P2W, is micro-transactions…. MICRO TRANSACTIONS…. But yeah, +$50 for some is a “micro-transaction”…

it’s just a mentality of a lot of people to play the class that’s easiest to slip away with, nobody wants to get rolled over by a zerg while halfway across the map

and for the most part, the “roamers” don’t want their epeans hurt, they don’t want to lose, so they want escape options if things get rough and they aren’t fighting people not running some meta build that they can pick off

There is nothing wrong with spamming one skill, especially since this profession was designed for it.

I think their intent was to have players make “skillful” skill combos pairing and matching this skill with that skill and so on… but boy were they wrong with their implementation.

Out of fairness and resource cost of developing maps.

Though, the fairness falls a bit short since they don’t really care about WvW, so not sure how fairness could be an argument.

• More frequent balance patches. – Eventually they will get it right.

Longer story:

It’s the same reasoning why children are afraid of the dark…

Back before discovering fire, night time meant that savage beasts would come out and hunt us down and eat us. Since that lasted for some time, and was a horrifying experience, it got ingrained in our brains that darkness/night = bad kitten happens, scary stuff come out.

Now, unlike with darkness, which got ingrained over a span of 1000’s of years (or something). With GW2 it happened really fast, since gamers across different games already have predispositioned “opinion”/fear of rogue archetype.

Generally the OP-ness comes from two sources: either at one point in time being able to 1-hit things (despite the requirements/consequences, or being truely unbalanced), or environmentally unaware people constantly being ganked (since hey, they’re easy and fun) and typically not knowing how to counter (because they were probably busy texting, or you know, casuals).

Like, even in LoL or HotS people kitten or complain how annoying stealth champs are, when most of the time they were setting themselves up for a gank (over extending for instance, or not seeing the blurred image in the case of HotS).

It’s not really thief specific saltiness, it’s more of an archetype saltiness spanning many many games (and genres).

MMO developers failing to provide everything that MMO consumers might want at the pace those consumers prefer is the state of the genre. It certainly is not something unique to GW2. Nor is it new with regard to GW2. There have been complaints about GW2 content provision, lack of new profession mechanics, lack of attention to WvW, etc. since very shortly after the game launched. I’m sure that costs are a factor in that dynamic, but this is not something new.

Anet’s financial resources from ncsoft are too low and then spread too thin. That’s the main problem. This game deserves a very hefty injection of cash from the masters. Until then, it’s going to be continuous patchwork quilting on every project… That’s a problem.

I believe GW2 has the potential to be the number 1 flagship game for ncsoft. It needs a big cash boost…

If you mean the channeling skills still hitting you, it’s working as intended.

In my personal opinion, it’s a half-baked implemenation that could have and should have went either way of the extremes (breaking stealth vs breaking channeling) – just for the sake of it being not half-baked.

(Though, as I have re-read this a couple times, I don’t think that’s what you were talking about… )

Underboob armor and puberty are a perfect match.

Though, real reason is that more people find female characters/armor more aesthetically pleasing. How much of that can be attributed to “lizard-brains”/“puberty” or the like is unknown, but probably definitely there.

Personally, I play male characters, though the couple of times I did have female characters I have ran into weird awkward (and “fun”) times of guys trying to flirt with me. Since then, that has become another reason of rolling a male character.

Essentially, thieves can’t deal with the current meta, and if not in the meta, the class is considered garbage by some – hence getting flamed.

They seemed to have “outsourced” that via exposing their API.

I doubt that they will make any official apps, and what for when someone else will do it for you for free.

(Though, at the moment you can’t “edit”/do much using the key, it’s more of a “read”/viewing of your data/character.)

Keep in mind that the +10% is still in their “iteration process”, 6 months and going strong, making sure that it won’t break “balance” in other parts of the game like “raids, fractals, (kitten dungeons), open world, PvP, and WvW.”

Due to the length it takes them to deliberate on what happens to Withdraw, it seems that the jury is split at end of the month, thus the iteration process will have to reconvene for a new session every month for the same iteration process — obviously arriving at the same result over and over again, month after month.

Oh, i get it, they’re properly testing it. Gotcha!

There’s a slight flaw (at least for me) in sports game teams, and that is you can trade/buy/sell players… So really you’re cheering for a company.

The other thing is, “winning” in gw2 WvW doesn’t mean much (besides tournies…) in the game. Winning the SuperBowl does mean something, in the sports game world.

The other thing is, gw2 has a philosophy of “play how you want/play for fun”… Which will conflict with putting meaning into any game mode… With that, they will never put too much meaning into one mode, nor will they succeed in it – despite their current efforts at eSports and the whole shebang.

(Like most other games, you can usually pick out one thing about them that the whole game revolves around, and/or you can identify an end-game…)

Yeah I can see OC’ing RAM being more helpful, especially running 64 bit client.

Hey Guys,

I know GW2 doesn’t use a CPU’s entire potential, so I want a beefed up CPU that will give me the highest upkeep of FPS. I’m tired of turning my camera and experiencing FPS stutter because the cpu isn’t being fully utilized.

Just to point out few things you may or may not know.

1) If your CPU is not being fully used it’s usually because
—-A. CPU overheats (or reaches temps that are close to manufacturer defined maximum) and maximum frequency usable by CPU is limited by drivers and software on your PC.
—-B. GW2 has no use for more CPU power. Seeing what your current CPU is this is probably the case.
2) Most graphical problems you will find can be traced back to Graphics Card. (seeing as you say yours is already 980ti you should probably post the other PC specs)
3) It’s REAAAAALY hard to tell something based on CPU alone. If you’re having problems I highly doubt it’s caused by CPU alone (Unless you’re one of those people who overclock everything without proper cooling and expect it will work out, in which case it may have degraded)

Honestly, when someone tries to make some sort of an argument/point out of “it’s about fun” or “it’s for fun”… they might as well not make that argument/point since “fun” varies from one person to the next.
