Well I’m sure everyone will be very happy I don’t qualify since I’m in Australia. lol
Don’t worry. Somehow people will still claim one of them is an alt account or something. Just like I am apparently you as well as someone else, according to the fine people of Gendarran Fields
You can’t be me. You’re too sane. lol
OMG He’s talking to himself!!!
(Sorry couldn’t resist)
Don’t say the truth in sarcastic/mocking manner …
I hope you filed a bug report. It shouldn’t have a “Save for later” button if you can’t get back to it. And when the next login comes you should definitely get it.
yeah… i didnt even get a chest popup yesterday, thought maybe reset has changed, tried again this morning, still no popup. I will wait another 9 1/2 hours, which is roughly at the time of the reset, to see what happens, since i’m now complete confused…
no exotic equipment chest, no bag of mystic coins, and not even a popup today….
wonder if anyone else has any stories about save for later or something like this happening.
So, everything seems to be fine. On this reset I got a bag of luck, when I clicked to accept it, I got today’s reward (the bag of luck) and the two previous ones that I was missing.
Still, it would have been nice to be able to open up the calendar and take the reward that you chose to save for later when you wanted to.
I hope they scrapped the idea.
I second that.
:/ All it will do is put a “White Knight” marker on someone… Just go to SC/WoW/D3 forums and see how the MVP’s are treated…
Especially if there’s one for professions, they will get the “you’re just defending your profession” comments when they try and argue across something.

MMO is one of the oldest genre.. The only new genre that has been made in recent years is moba.
I don’t really think it’s a genre to be honest, it’s a prefix to genres. More so, it’s a prefix to a game title in a genre that describes how big of an audience it has attracted online.
Think about it, Massive Multiplayer Online….
MMOs are 40 years old, btw.
What kind of MMO did people play in the 70’s ?
The best kind. It’s called The Outside . It’s actually still quite popular, they seem to be on patch 2.0.1.5 now, though they patch slowly, about 1 patch per year.
(lol, I actually laughed myself, they have a thread going on to nerf boobs)
It was my fault for not dodging the magnet (half a sec to a sec after visible lines, I know) which I saw.
As soon as I landed at their feet I was downed. Basic rifle and toolkit combo, but combat log also showed static discharge(? Would have been downed without sd but still wondering how it was there, I know they improved combat log but it’s still really wonky or was dealing with dem hacks, I’m open for explanations, please) in between jump shot and blunderbus, which baffles me. Note we were the only 2 in the area. My reactions are usually competent, I dummied on the magnet though.
I accepted death because I had 13k, and it was zerker vs zerker, but gee. I’m curious about the timeframe of the combo because it was seriously instant after I landed. That and the static discharge in the combat log really threw me for a loop trying to break down what happened to me.
Soooo…. for now, just try to dodge the wire a bit better. Wait 2-3 more months (sept. was the last one was it?) for a “balance” patch to see what happens. If they resolve your issue somehow, great, if not well try to dodge a bit better/avoid engineers/roll one and just wait another 6 months. Feel free to post on forums about your progress/lack-thereof to attract others in the same situation as you, that generally makes people feel better, sometimes you scope up some helpful advice to help you progress. And just keep waiting for another 6 months.
:| This applies to problems that you may have with every class. Best of luck
Oh, um, this isn’t fully directly at Selver, as much as everyone in general that has problems with classes.
kitten, almost forgot to put this in somewhere…. “And have fun”.

You might want to get rid of that Fisher Price internet. I’ve been playing since launch and never really saw any lag issues.
Same. Sadly, this issue is on the OP’s side, as it is with 99.9% of all online gamers who ever complained about lag. Its either your PC has issues or your internet is terrible.
^Both of their points.
Don’t expect the game to run smoothly on something that was built in 2005.
Though, general optimizations would be appreciated – and they have implemented a bit since launch. Plus they said it’s an on-going background process that happens (as in worked on, not always implemented/released) each patch.

didn’t we just do this exact thread 2 weeks ago?
Of course we did and we will continue to have the same thread brought up because the poor implementation of them.
This, and there’s no way to know what has previously been posted
Stories/anecdotes were previously posted, just as they are now.
They help people see that there are like-minded people in the crowd.
As far as everyone is aware, the whole thing about precursors “is still on the table” – which is probably dated back to months ago.

Lol. 50% in one second? Try downed instantly From 100% after a magnet pull from a power engi. When I can do that from stealth or in the first seconds of a fight, let me know.
You can avoid magnet pull – it has 1 sec casttime and pretty visible “magnet” lines to you.
You never avoid Shadowstep+CnD+Steal+BS combo, because it instant and has 2 times bigger range.
Just depends on the reaction of a player.
Most that QQ seem to stand still in combat, so in their case neither is avoidable.

Um, why not just refine the luck, and then use the keyboard (Windows settings) to click? Tapping/holding a key seems to be a lot faster than on an actual mouse.
Assuming you’re on Windows 8…
https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/using-your-keyboard-to-control-the-mouse-windows-8-1/
Give it a shot. Back in MapleStory days, I had beaten a lot of auto-clickers trying to get into the same dungeon as me using this trick…

However how is it fine to charge for the lore of the game when the person has already given you 80£ for their game to begin with?
The person in question bought what the game included at launch. Developers add more content over time at significant cost to the company. How is it fine to charge for a product that one spends enormous amounts of money to produce ? Let me ask a counter question, if you spent a significant amount of money creating something to. Ring to market would it be appropriate for you to charge for access to it?
To answer your counter question:
Depends on whether I, as a company directory/sales-exec/guy that makes the big decisions, would want some reputation for the franchise/company or some big bucks. And that decision would probably be affected by how well my other lines of business are going.

You make money of vanity items.
When was the last time we got a full armour suit, without having to pay on the gem store?
they’re already monetizing vanity items tied to the content that they release to the max, so why is it okay to charge for that content as well?
So one could say that you can get gem store items without tapping your credit card. That is via the gold-to-gem conversion – yes, expensive, I know. Still takes a punch at your statment/posed question (1st one), it would have eventually hit you anyways.

they’re already monetizing vanity items tied to the content that they release to the max, so why is it okay to charge for that content as well? The Carapace and Luminescent armors are in the process of release even now, via the Silverwastes content and I think LS S2. They are earned through play, not bought from the store. The store seems to be offering more Outfits than armor skins atm. Perhaps ANet is intending to give some players more of what they asked for, armor skins earned via play.
And unless Tera has completely changed, its story was worse than GW2’s. From my perspective, you’ve got one game giving away story. Does SWtOR? Does AoC? They went F2P. They sell content updates.
I get that you don’t want to buy the LS S2 content. It sounds to me like you want to access LS2, but not enough to spend the money. That’s your lookout. You have the option not to buy it.
And what he means is (at least I think), if you miss out on the LS before the next one comes and don’t get the armor piece… then you will need to fork over some gems to unlock that LS part so you can get the armor piece.
Carry on

…
IMHO If you pay 60 euro’s and have 12 hours of fun it’s about the price of a cinema ticket, When you play 60 hours about the price of a rented or PayPerView film, and when you played 6000 hours and payed 0.01 euro well… It has been an very good deal.
Oh god…. I was trying to get through the thread when I struck that paragraph.
How can you compare the two? And I get that the lower the value of your hours/dollar metric means it’s in some form better/getting your moneys worth, but what does that mean? Like if you get 12 hours out of a game, you should go “Yes! It’s totally worth it because I could have gone and watched a movie but instead played 12 hours of this game.”
So I’m going to impose an arbitrary metric as well, let’s say a bubble gum costs $1, and lets say a sneakers bar costs $3. Now you typically eat the sneakers bar in 3 minutes, so that’s going at a rate of $1/min. So if you chew the bubble gum for at least 1 minute, it will be on par with the sneakers bar, because it would be at the rate of $1/min. Now kitten gets crazy if you chew the bubble gum for 10 minutes – the rate becomes $0.1/min . Now that bubble gum has been an amazing deal compared to the sneakers bar, since you were able to chew on it for 10 minutes for the cost of $1 ($0.1/min) while the sneakers bar was $3 for 3 minutes ($1/min).
^ All I can think that is, is a way to justify your spendings when you’re feeling guilty of them.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
So, I decided to click the “save for later”/the little arrow when the daily login reward popped up. I did that thinking I could hop on my other character to claim the reward…
So can I somehow claim it after clicking the “save for later”… or do I have to wait till tomorrow’s reset? I couldnt really find a way to that pop-up screen again…
From a user’s stand point I would want the ability to claim my reward today on a character that I want, not necessarily the first one I log in on. And saving for later, meaning I could choose to claim it later when I want to (be it 5 minutes later or 1 hour later).
Anyways I probably didn’t find a way to navigate back to that pop-up.
So yesterday I couldn’t find a way to bring up the pop-up, nor today.
Today, I logged in on my alt thinking that I would get the (equipment) chest from yesterday… So I clicked on the little chest that pop’s up and brings up the menu/calendar … To my surprise I couldn’t get yesterday’s chest that I never received… Instead I was offered todays reward (the bag of coins)… which I would have preferred to have gotten on my main, so instead of clicking on the “save for later”/little arrow – which seems to NOT WORK (or I’m extremely lost on how it works) – I alt+f4, hoping that nothing gets registered (like i didnt choose to “save for later” nor accept it). I log back in on my main, nothing pops up/no chest on the side… I log back on my alt where this all started… again no pop up/no chest on the side either.
So, I believe 2 days worth of rewards have just vanished on me… or there’s some hidden elaborate way to retrieve them or open the calendar/pop-up menu.
Moral of the story:
When you log in… just taking the reward.
(Otherwise who knows what happens to it if you do anything besides accepting it).
Also, what I quoted above was opened in a question thread, hoping for answer… though I received an answer of some sort… I’m not too sure why my thread was merged with this behemoth of a thread, where I really don’t expect any discussion/explanation to what happened to the 2nd part of this tale about login rewards.
O well,
Happy new years folks.

Google “gw2 skill points to gold” – there’s a website link in the reddit thread listed on Google that will let you know the promoting costs to reward per skill point – quite useful.
if its egg barons spreadsheet, it doesnt include common tier 1 to t2 promotion, which is usually the most lucrative promotion per skillpoint.
But for lazy people that cant be kittened to do some basic calculations by themselves, its quite useful, i guess.

Well, supposedly they “balance” every 6 months or so, so look up when they last “balanced” the game.
It will be inevitable though that at some point in time a patch will come and mess up your ascended armor build… so yeah. – Not a fan of ascended so I will restrain myself just by saying this.
just pray that next “balance” patch won’t be again obligatory “let’s throw random nerfs at thieves”
But then it wouldn’t be a balance patch…
I’m glad other players are coming in here and clarifying this is, if it even is, an sPvP issue. As I see it, ALL burst skills need to be toned down. Thieves burst in WvW is still too high too. Instagibbing is still taking place in WvW. Thieves should never have been able to do that in the first place. No build should be able to output 20k in under 3 sec.
y plus perma stealth and blindness.
They need CD for heartseeker 5 sec and for backstab like 5 sec. Then it will be ok.
:P There’s a lot of perma-stuff going on in this game and forums… Unfortunately it’s impossible to nerf/stop them.
Yeah I can’t find a way back to that daily menu/pop-up/calender.
Shame, o well.

no, guild wars 2 don’t need an expansion.
traditional expansion will only divide the community.
guild wars 2 needs more structured player versus player updates.
First sentence – Sure.
Second sentence – What? o.O
Third sentence – Yeah, sPvP updates are welcome, just like all other updates are.
Wrong. GW2 does not need an expansion, and it is far from needing one critically. I’ve said it so many times already that I don’t even feel like typing out the full response. Just, no. You’re paranoid / unable to see the full picture, just no.
Yeah GW2 doesn’t need anything, GW2 could continue releasing content at a snails pace and slowly shrink and fade into obscurity as an example of how not to manage a MMO. And no one is able to see the big picture as Anet refuses to talk about future content releases, a communication policy that in my opinion is a farce, an example of how not to do things in an industry where communication with your player base is essential to success.
And releasing a chunk of content every 2 years is a better way to go? So you get an expansion, then nothing for 2 years, then another, then nothing for 2 years, and so on. OR they could continue doing what they are doing and release a smaller chunk every 2 weeks (not counting breaks for holidays and such) for free, and still achieve the same amount of stuff that would be in a traditional expansion?
So during those off times, after an expansion, and everything is played through in less than a year, the game still loses players, as those who are bored stop playing, and the same dire predictions of the game fading into obscurity are even more realized.
Every two years?
Guild Wars Prophecies – April 28, 2005
Guild Wars Factions – April 28, 2006 (12 months later (that’s 1 year))
Guild Wars Nightfall – October 27, 2006 (6 months later (that’s 1/2 year))
Guild Wars Eye of the North – August 31st, 2007 (10 months later (that’s <1 year))
Taken from: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars
They seem to have been able to produce expansions in half your suggested time, even less in 2/3 cases. I think there was already a comparison of what has been brought by the expansion vs what has been brought through LS/updates.
Oh yeah, they also had some QoL and balance patches (3-14 minor patches per month). Oh and seasonal/holiday festive patches and whatnot.
It’s also weird that GW1 didn’t have a subscription, and only received a full-on cash shop on July 28, 2006 – which is after the 1st expansion and a bit before the 2nd one.
Yeah, LS/updates are “free” (some may say they’re supported through gem store)… but those expansions were well worth the money IMO.

Can you define what you mean by “cheese build”, if you haven’t already?
I will bravely define what a “cheese build” is by providing a picture of one.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that’s a double decker mac’n’cheese cheese burger topped with lettuce and pickles.
This is a cheesy build indeed. It will crit from the inside of you.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Because the LS has only been around for about a year, while a traditional expansion generally takes about 2 years. The LS is fully capable of releasing all that stuff, but instead of getting it in smaller chunks, you’d rather get nothing for a long time, then everything all at once. Which, going by other games who rely on expansion content, leads to a lower player base during the off times, then peaks at when the expansion comes. The LS bite sized chunk way at least keeps players playing on a more regular basis.
FFXIV:ARR does both. It is getting its first expansion before GW2, and we’re talking about a game which was released long after GW2, and it gets monthly(?) patches with plenty new story missions/ classes/ dungeons, etc.
But… It has a subscription fee.
(This was bound to be put out there eventually.)
“In critical need of expansion.”
For some odd reason it makes me think of Lil Jon screaming “Emergency!”… like so:
Did anyone make the weird arguement of “dollars per hours of entertainment”
Like
“You played 1000 hours, and got the game for $60. That’s $0.06/hour! I mean a movie is worth $15 and is about 2hours, that’s $7.5/hour. I think you got your money’s worth out of the game, you should be happy.”
Something like that.
Thought I would get that weird one out of the way. I don’t completely understand it, but it does seem to re-occur very often in topics like these, and is one of the points used by the “white knights” sometimes.
Carry on people.
So, Nokturnal Lunacy.3186 makes a post about losing motivation to play due to “cheese builds” in PvP modes. 4 hours or so later, Nocturnal Lunacy.8563 makes a thread about leaving, with the reason given being certain builds in PvP modes. That’s either the darnedest coincidence; two accounts and some quick escalation from disaffected to rage quitting; or two accounts and “my first thread did not generate the proper amount of agreement and sympathy.”
Whoever the dude is… he should steer clear from League of Legends… if he rage quit GW2, who knows what he might do after playing a couple of games with bronzies on his team.
:/ But yeah he was probably looking for agreement and sympathy at the wrong time of the day, when other people that were previously but hurt were asleep or something.
Yes yes Jim feed the troll. I think he already contradicted himself once. Something to do with trying harder and challenge, though I skimmed through his post.
Challenge is no win with easy, Challenge is win and lose and try harder. Stealth is no challenge for no try harder, just stealth, stealth, stealth. Other player want challenge but no find stealth player. Thief hiding always, is that challenge? if all thief; only hide.. is ok for wvw and pvp long term? I ask you fight and you thief run and hide, is ok?
no troll
:P Well, clearly it’s challenging for you to realize some possible counters, and there are…
So without their realization, you’re losing. You gotta try harder (think a bit) to realize them . Once you realize them, you will win and lose and try harder to prefect them.
Or you can give up and QQ and wait for ANet to apply another nerf (as opposed to redo’ing the class), which will happen in a couple of months. It’s guaranteed, dont worry, just have to wait a bit.
Some people sure do like being dramatic when leaving a game.
Some even do it when they take a shower or a poop, they update their FB status.
I wish we could switch from using the term “cheese” to “butter”
instead of cheesy builds it would be buttery builds….
It’s okay OP, you can vent your frustration on the forums… You’re not the first, nor the last, but you are one of many.
I remember my first time playing CoD(:BO2) and running into people that drop-shot… I would swear and call things out like “kitten kids drop shotting like nubs”… and then after couple hours I started to dominate (doing much better score/kill-wise) and t-bag them… and at the end I didnt really care about people drop shotting me. True story. I don’t play CoD anymore though, their PC support is kitten.
:D Thought I would vent a bit as well and share a cheesy/buttery/frustrating moment with you OP.

How to counter other professions as thief
Yes yes Jim feed the troll. I think he already contradicted himself once. Something to do with trying harder and challenge, though I skimmed through his post.
And if there is no expansion, why doesn’t Gaile or another dev swoop in to say “sorry folks, there’s no expansion in the work” in all these expansion threads?
Because it would horrendous PR. Despite what some people feel about the lack of need for an expansion, any announcement that one was not in the works would lead to a reduction in active players.
And what if they said, we have intentions to introduce a new profession and race, but it won’t be through an expansion?
A lot of people would be ecstatic. Others mixed. Then some people would whine and moan because that’s what they do.
My point is people are chanting expansion because they don’t believe bigger updates like professions, skills and races can come in the living story.
I’m wondering if those things did come, but an expansion didn’t, would that satisfy those crying for an expansion?
If they packaged up 2-4 zones – and some lore for the zones- , 1-2 profs, 2-4 new weapons – thus new skills across all classes – , and a bunch of (very asked for) quality of life improvements all into one big update then maybe those that want an expansion…
If they give all that as LS updates over the courses of (judging by what I’m using as an example) say 6 years… probably not, and no knight in shining armor at the end of those 6 years will be able convince the haters that “HEY LOOK, they did give all that in the end” (6 years later…)
Personally I’m not expect anything.
There’s also only about 3 things that they can do to make me completely quit the game and not just login in for 5 minutes every day/so-often.
I fed a troll once. It grew shrub out of it’s head… oh wait. Chia pet at it again!
Fed trolls are almost like dancing bears… Except dancing bears are entertaining and awesome. Trolls are just entertaining.
Obvious troll guys, stop feed him.
Appropriate picture is appropriate.
We will get an expansion way before we get the Traits debacle sorted….

Yes, Ashen, you’re right. I view this thread as a lighthearted thread, not intended to “bash” anyone. Some do the new dailies. Some don’t. Some don’t like them. Some do. It’s all good. We have a thread for serious discussion of the topic, but this one is pretty darn funny. One of my faves so far: “I skipped breakfast.”
Neural — this really isn’t toxic. It’s sarcy and it’s saucy, but toxic it is not.
I don’t like your attitude. Reported!
I wonder what happens when you report a mod… Does it get absorbed or fired back.
Someone needs to write it down so we can claim that it was done for science.
Good thieves prevail, bad thieves rerolled engis/eles/wars or anything really that runs current meta (aka celestial might stacking crap).
Too much effort to play one when you can drool on keyboard as cele ele and collect points. Thieves by itself are not bad the current meta just favors other classes/builds, besides you don’t want more than 1 thief on team.
Obviously consistent nerfs every single patch are not exactly big motivation for playing the class.
^^^^ This right here.
I dont think WvW role diversity (for thief) has expanded either since last I played.

@Gaile
I think it’s a silly self-fulfilling theory and one that no one will know if it’s true or not, besides you guys.
There are no hackers in Gw2.
You have lagged.I really hope you don’t believe that statement. Living under a rock is not a good thing.
O.o You’re not a hacker until you get caught…
When you get caught you get banned, so you’re no longer in the game.
So, the game doesn’t have hackers.
As to the OP question. They are getting a fine of $40-60 (or however much the game costs where ever you are) – having the game revoked. They would have to place another 40-60 on the line and start from scratch.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
@Donari
Yes it’s a wild tin hat theory. Especially since yeah, giving the amount of ideas out there, they’re bound to hit one (at least one that they can trace back and point a finger at later).
:D Proxy/Fake posts is just a fun idea, doesnt costs the dev’s anything to generator extra accounts.
:| I think this tin-hat theory needs to catch on, since it’s the most effective and correct one.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Don’t let this go ignored any longer. It’s been ignored for nine months on page 1.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Game-Updates-Traits/firstYeah, like before we know it, it’ll be a year since that thread started.
That’s more depressing than anything, and reinforces, a year of whatever thread – be it specific or a more broad CDI – will result in the same thing if it’s something they don’t want to talk about.(this has been evident in older CDI’s anyway, so I’m not surprised)
So I have a tin-hat theory about CDI’s…
They invite people to talk about selected themes, and come up with ideas. Eventually someone lands on their idea or close to it… they implement that idea, and say look it was thought up by someone else hooray! They can even get multiple “proxy” accounts to then hype up and discuss the idea that’s close to theirs, making it more genuine looking/feeling.
Forums need polls, as well as in-game polls/surveys (similar to the ones in beta)… at least. Not a grand solution, but at least it would be fun to see some numbers.
