Who else do you want to fight? T2 looks like the level of competition is in a good place, I don’t think they want to fight you.

I was running Carrion Armor and Rabid trinkets/weapons and really liked the extra power but I recently switched to Dire armor and while I miss the power its been very successful.

Whats the point of the build in WvW? Roaming, zerging…

1) champ bags, Won’t happen as its one of the few ways for WvW players to get ascended mats and gold. They are trying to improve rewards in WvW not nerf them.

2) Champ Scaling, Won’t matter, No one in the zerg will think “oh to many people here, champ to strong, must leave” People will still just zerg it down regardless of how strong it is. Also that would be a huge buff to warrior banners as it would be harder to take the lord down, meaning the banner is needed less.

3) Defending rewards,They had this more or less on release, problem was people found ways to bot or afk farm them. How would you be able to tell the difference between some one really defending vs a bot or some afk guy?

4) Scoring system, This would be another snowball effect that would be the strong stronger.

Really the easiest why to reduce zerging (“reduce” because you will never eliminate zerging) is to punish players for being in large groups. That said, Anet will never do that, they want a group play game where everyone can come together. They won’t add punishment for people playing together.

I think people should stop complaining about gear in wvw.
this is the endgame for gw2, did you expect to just walk in and be the best?

I remember back in the day when players were the best at a game because they had superior knowledge, reflexes, and decision making, not because they had dedicated the most time to performing menial and repetitive tasks to make their character sheet have the biggest numbers.

People who have to rely on their grinded gear will often defend their grind as if it represents skill. It represents time spent, not skill.

Are you guys saying you only die in WvW because other people have ascended gear? Also are you saying your skill is not high enough to over come some extra stats on a less skilled opponent?

First off, I do not want…reasons blah blah doesn’t really matter.

My question to you would be: IF they were to implement this how would they handle all the gear that I have acquired for WvW?

Keep in mind, I do not PvE. Have 3 sets of ascended stuff (excluding armor obviously). My main build is probably not viable for most PvE content as it is currently played.

If this was implemented would anet have to tell me that all that time spent on gear is now only able to be used in PvE or would they offer refunds for that gear? How would they go about refunding it? Could they even refund it? What about legendarys? What they be just a skin in WvW or would it be like sPvP and not usable?

What about the ascended infusions I bought in WvW +/- guard damage? That wouldn’t be needed in PvE…

IMO this isn’t a option they could push with out really kitten ing off a lot of the WvW population.

I second what Jeydra says though I semi disagree with the note on SoR. (and have no comment on T2 servers)

From what I can tell it looks like most of SoR’s “internal issues” are more or less resolved and they are currently rebuilding. I would suggest looking at there recruitment post in the recruitment sub forum. They have great leaders and some really awesome guilds. While they aren’t the strongest and you won’t be winning (the match) in T1 for a while, they are still a viable server for anyone looking for a new home. Also as any server in a rebuilding phase, they will probably welcome any new interested experienced players to there ranks.

From the looks of your post it seems you already had Blackgate in mind and are looking for someone to sell you a different server as a option. Since I’m from Blackgate I can’t really sell you another server but I wouldn’t rule them out as a possible new home.

Also keep in mind this week is a bad week to get impressions of a server in WvW. Most people are taking a “break” from competitive WvW and with the patch every one is throwing snow balls and farm pink gear.

Though I’m not sure what the video has to do with being humble or not. Its only a fan made video to commemorate Blackgate and some of those that were involved in the journey through seasons. How the video is perceived is completely up to you.

With all these posts of great fights, It seems that our coverage allows you to guarantee that when you jump into WvW there will be some one to fight.

The problem with the topic is that we all know too well how BG aquired their “victory”, for people who fought BG despite the disadvantage and issues wvw season brought up, this video and thread in general is slap in the face. Idk why it is even being supported.

I’m personally sorry you feel that it is a “slap in the face” and that is definitely not the intent. I think the way “acquired our victory” is greatly misunderstood and being over shadowed by rumors and propaganda built by non Blackgate forum goers. Countless hours were put into recruiting, strategizing, communication between maps and time zones. The win was a mere shadow of the true victory on Blackgate.

You may have your qualms about Blackgate or how we approached seasons, I understand that but seasons was no secret and neither was the need for coverage. Our server as a whole set our goals and as a server we worked to achieve them, we are very lucky to have some of the most dedicated leaders to help us in that quest.

The issues with the way seasons was implemented was not our fault nor was it our concern. We knew we wanted to win as a server and we knew we needed the best coverage to do so, we pushed for 24/7 coverage and got close to it. If both JQ and SoR (or just one of them) was able to achieve similar coverage it would have been welcomed.

We are celebrating our Victory, don’t confuse that with lack of respect for all the servers in gold league. It was a pleasure and honor to fight some of the best guilds NA. (Yes, I’m talking about Mag/SoS/TC too)

This is quite a silly discussion but if you read over the thread it’s quite obvious a lot of people don’t agree with the topic. The topic being the video and Blackgate being the gold league winners. It doesn’t necessarily need to be a traditional discussion to be posted here.

Also I only pointed out the Dev posts as it shows they are well aware of the thread and its contents.

Whats funny is the elitist undertone of your comment. I test all my builds in Rares and only have a problem if the build is bad. Yeah the stat disadvantage is there but it is still a acceptable place holder till you can get exotics.

Also to the point why even bring up rares/greens/blues? Are they time gated? Are they expensive? Is a set of exotics even considered expensive?

The point is that while getting ascended armor will take a very long time in solely WvW, your disadvantage isn’t that bad and if you are chalking up a loss/death to gear then it may be a “L2P” issue…

SoR is a great server, they are in the middle of a rebuilding phase so they aren’t quite as strong as the were a few months ago. If I were you I’d stick with them, they have good leadership and some really great guilds. Even though the scores aren’t showing it, they are still there kicking kitten.

If you’re trying to leave T1, SoS/Mag/TC/FA are all good choices as well.

Hate to say it but you should be a powermancer for Zerg fights anyways…

One thing to think about which seems to get lost in some of these suggestions is that what ever you do to buff smaller groups will probably extremely buff larger groups.

So while I agree making it a bit easier for small groups (5-10 players) to be more effective, buffing things like AC’s could result in groups of 30-40+ being impossible to beat. Understandably taking a keep with 40 people defending is very hard and near impossible, its still possible. On the flip side, making it easier for a group of 5-10 to take a keep means having 40+ people would be over kill and very easy. While you may get more small groups running around, you’ll still have the guild group that runs 35+ nightly zoning in and crushing everything.

Just food for thought.

Quoting for context. They already nerfed AC’s for very valid reasons. When they were first buffed +the mastery, we would put 5 AC’s at every door and there was nothing any one could do. You couldn’t walk by the door with out dieing. I would prefer AC’s be left alone.

They actually never said this. They specifically made sure to word their spots so that they ONLY said that they would guarantee a reset at the start of season 1. They could do one at the start of season 2 but they NEVER said this.

You’re absolutely right. They didn’t flat out say they will reset them but they didn’t say they wouldn’t either. I’m not going to look for the Dev post but they said they will be reseting the points for the season (referring to season 1) and when asked about season 2, Devon said who knows what will happen. Point is, they are able to do it and if there is a big enough uproar on the forums (which will most likely happen) they will probably just reset them.

On a side note if the keep increasing the amount of WXP we have been gaining and no that it is going to be account bound, resetting them might not be necessary for most people.

Although I’d imagine they would have to reset the points on a merger considering many people will have overlapping spent points (2 characters with ram mastery for example)

From what I understand the points and WXP will be account bound not your selection of traits. For example if you only had 75 total points you could have 1 character with treb mastery and another with ram mastery OR you could have 2 characters with ram mastery. If that is the case then they would only need to merge the total number of levels/points you have and each character could be traited independently. A reset wouldn’t be necessary unless it is programming wise.

As for speculation, the best guess would be they might reset them when they make the change to account bound points. Last time when they made changes to a trait (AC iirc) the reset the points so this may be similar. Though since they are going account bound you will be gaining the points from your other characters so they may not reset them.

Perhaps but any celebrations on the public forum are likely to be viewed as chest thumping by others. BG players have pilloried SOR players in the past for chest thumping when we’ve simply celebrated a victory for example.

I can’t argue with that as I fully agree. We probably couldn’t even count the amount of trolling and “chest thumping” that has gone on between our servers. Plus its always easier to be negative then think of the positive considering the differences in perspective.

The video was more about our journey through seasons and the community involved. I fully understand why it would be perceived as chest thumping and wouldn’t blame anyone for assuming that. Our community has a huge amount of respect for all the servers involved in the gold league, this was never meant to disrespect them, rather to only commemorate Blackgate.

I have to agree with Brando here, The arena is a great step forward, this shows the Anet is acknowledging GvG as a in game event and are willing to take steps to provide a area to do this. Also the arena is awesome really…So now that they have made the ground floor for a better GvG scene, they can review and continue to make it better.

I personally feel that the video and the Blackgate WvW players are being misinterpreted. While “woot we won/we beat you guys” is part of it, its only a small part of why Blackgate is proud of this achievement. Going into seasons, we expected the roughest road, at no point did we assume this was going to be a cake walk. We respected our enemies because we know how tough you guys can be.

I don’t see this as just a win on the battle field, numbers vs numbers, time zones and coverage. What made me proud to be part of the Blackgate community through this win was watching everyone come together for a common goal, watching every one work as hard as they can in every time zone. Guilds coming together and building a stronger community, not just guilds and time zones.

Getting first in the season and the rewards given to us by Anet were just a formality. The true prize was being part of such a driven and dedicated community, watching everyone go above and beyond to bring success to our server. It is a absolute pleasure to be apart of Blackgate!

Diamond – Problem with this is there is no variable. Meaning that the winner could be decided by 2v1’ing 1 server into the ground. (Not a complaint, just a observation) There are a lot of complaints about 2v1s right now, this would be a prime setup for one to take place.

Anything that rewards 1 person will always reward 1 person. It will most likely be easier with 20/30/50 people, rewards being player based, no matter what rewards are added it will always reward the zerg.

First place in each league are the only ones that get a finisher. Gold league 1st gets gold…silver league 1st gets silver and Bronze league 1st gets bronze.

It seems you may be right and would probably be along the lines of what a Dev response would say. Sadly this should still be a lesson to make sure information is clear before posting. We as players can only go by what they say so if it is not clear, we end up making our own judgement on it.

The post you quoted above was likely just poorly stated, as the tone of the words used definitely slants towards it being unlimited until the next season, without specifically saying “unlimited”.

Maybe wrongly stated, the terms of the finisher in the 2 posts are completely different. The first post stating “Winners will have access to the finisher until there are new winners.” Which translates to the finisher is usable till a new winner is declared vs the next post which you quoted stating “a stack of supply dolyak finishers” which translates to them possibly running out before a new winner is declared.

I may have missed any clarification on why the change was made or if the change was even noted. But the fact is 2 different descriptions of the finisher were posted by Devon within about a month of each other with no clarification between the 2.

I hate to be that guy…but I’m not a huge fan of how things just change with out notice. I would much prefer that something was said on the subject before the change was made to prevent discussions like this. Honestly Devon could have said something like “I just wanted too” and that would have been enough because it was acknowledged.

Like I said, I’m not complaining, I’m pumped to use the finisher! I’m just interested in way the change was needed, is it foreshadowing no season 2?

Winners will have access to the finisher until there are new winners. At that point those people will gain access and the winners from the previous season will no longer have access to the stomp.

Think of it like this, the finisher is intended to show off who won the last season. If you don’t continue to win each and every season, you will not retain the bragging rights.

I know this was posted a while back and nothing is ever set in stone but why the change? The idea of the finisher being a trophy for your server till the next server can take it seemed reasonable.

Don’t take this as a complaint as I think it’s awesome either way. I’m just curious why the change was necessary.

I’m still fairly new to the condi Necro side (power necro for the most part) but its adds 2 things. Strong extra damage and another blanket condition to cover up your bleeds. Since Necros can self stack a lot of bleeds (which is where most the damage comes from) plus weakness, cripple, burn, chill, vuln, blind, it makes it hard for some classes to clear all of these conditions so bleeds and burn tick longer, thus more damage. Also being able to rapidly reapply it all…

Like I said I’m still learning Condi for PvP so I might be wrong…

ArenaNet ought to put VZ, BG, and Vabbi together so it’s a psedu-1v1 where both servers can play Siege Wars together.

Probably depends on who your asking. Me, no not really, WvW against the top servers in my league was the point. Others, obviously rewards based on the resent posting. Anet, maybe just to get more bodies into WvW, test seasons out, kittens and jiggles? Rewards are just a bonus imo, would have done nothing different if it was seasons or not.

Because WvW is a limited game mode. You have a limited number of players that can play it and also it has a direct goal. If WvW had comparable or better rewards, it would turn into a farm, it would kill the game mode and anyone that plays this game for WvW would end up quiting due to the lack of actual PvP happening in WvW.

you can offer the same rewards as pve but at a slower pace. Why not let us buy crafting mats for Asc gear with badges? You could double of triple the amount of dragonite and coin that drop from lords and we still wouldn’t touch PvE champ trains.

you could increase the chance of good drops off player kills (the tech is in game to lock rewards off someone who has died recently to lock farming). This makes fighting players and not doors important.

tons of ways to reward WvW with out making it a stand in for pve. Its just up to the devs if its something they really want to do.

Devon has already said they are constantly looking at WvW rewards and want to increase them but shares my concern that if they are to great and compete with PvE that it would be more harmful to the game mode.

Have you ever partook in a organized karma farm? You can gain a lot of ascended mats in a short time very easily…they want to avoid that being the norm of how WvW is being played….

Blackgate…please stop. The “We were the underdogs” story is getting old.

I feel sorry for you all…your server built (some would say bought) an awesome WvW army. But winning hands down and easy will wear thin week after week…soon you will see guilds moving to servers where they are challenged.

Blackgate was the perceived weakest T1 server before league starts and even after BG won the first week of league, I would glad to provide links to threads/posts claiming that from JQ and SoR if you are in doubt. The success we have in Season 1 does not change the fact that a lot of people were surprised and shocked by our performance initially.

Also I would advice you to not make predictions about what will happen to BG as you guys are really not good at making predictions giving how your pre-season predictions turned out…

First: Disclaimer: The predictions I make are mine. They are not necessarily endorsed by my server. If you have a beef about it take it out on me…not JQ as a whole.

Second: I noticed you even acknowledge that Blackgate was “perceived” to be the weakest. Thanks, that’s the first time I heard a BG person even come that close to admitting they weren’t underdogs.

Like I alluded in my post, there are a lot of BG people still claiming that Blackgate was the underdog and the ONLY reason you went undefeated was by the grit and talent of your players. I’m not saying you don’t have any talent, but please…be honest, your server won primarily by numbers.

And I stand by my personal prediction…what fun is not having any competition? The better guilds will move on to be challenged. The weakest will stay for the Karma Steamroll.

Most of BG players (at least the serious ones) are always saying we are the perceived underdog entering the season, of course we wouldn’t be able to win the season if we stay out-coveraged by JQ or SoR during the season.

As for how we win, all T1 servers have the population to offer good numbers in all time zones, JQ was said to have 24/7 queues until you fought BG in week 5. Winning WvW in T1 has always been about organizing/mobilizing the server population better and keeping the server’s morale high. During season our guilds stayed up longer, the server was able to get more Pvers to actually try and stay in WvW, and we got ZDs to help cover our weak time zone after we lost MERC/SUPR/TKG in that time zone. So it is how we turn a server that has the weakest coverage before the season to the one with a stronger coverage that allow us to win season 1. Grit and determination certainly plays an important part in it, our guilds and commanders were willing to stay up super late to cover our weak time zones/push enemy’s weak time zone while some other server simply give up when they find out they have a weakness. You won’t keep your server’s morale high if you give up easily.

There are more competition now than a lot of times in the past (e.g. JQ’s long-term dominance after the end of free transfer) and server strength always fluctuate especially now the season has ended. I know many guilds are enjoying the fights now and they don’t seem bored shrug

I wonder if the lost sleep was worth a non permanent finisher and a rng chest.

Don’t talk down to Mag! They did a awesome job this season!

Because WvW population size is not measurable. The size of your server does not represent the size of your WvW population. See SoR (pre-season) vs TC. TC had a much higher server population yet SoR was more of a WvW power house.
