The d/d ele simply isn’t as OP as you think it is. 90% of it’s damage can be mitigated just by moving around. The rest you have blocks, dodges, blinds, and cleanse for. Killing a d/d ele can be tough, but getting killed by one…I can’t remember the last time.
um those tactics may have worked before patch when it was actually possible to interrupt ele in fire w/o being perma blinded, when CDs on fire weren’t so low and burning didn#t stack and didn’t have such absurd base numbers…..

oh i am sry i can count very few builds that actually have blocks and none of them are effective vs current dd ele
no cleanse in game can keep up with ele condi uptime (besides other ele ofc)

My last match our ele beat 2 thieves at home and was boasting how good he was coz his HP was full. I wanted to say it was Anet’s ele programmer that was good. But seriously, I think we have a problem when one class can effortlessly beat 2 thieves and still have full HP.

Guardians only have Burn as a damaging condi. We have no cover condis whatsoever as a base skill. (im not counting sigil procs like doom/geomancy) Please dont nerf burning. Rather look at why burning is so strong on Ele and adjust that. (blind on burn etc).
I don’t think the OP was asking for a nerf on burning. He was comparing the burn skills between engie and eles. Like you, I play a burn a guardian. I think it’s fine where it is.
There was a thread where I was told to be trolling because I said I didn’t have a hard time cleansing burns on my engie. It was one of those burns OP threads.
I hear you. I hate FT, I think it’s a really lame kit. Only reason I use it is for IA. The blind and knockback is nice too but damage wise, I never liked FT
The difference is, burn is the ONLY damage coming from d/d ele (I presume you talk about dd) whereas engi has a lot more sources of damage both condi and physical.
Dodge the RoF and evade fire 2 and d/d has 0 dmg.
Dodge some engi skill and he still has gazillion other surprises up his sleeve.

top EU pvpers seem to have a stronger camaraderie and generally liked by EU players
top NA seem to be more flaky, have more drama, more emotional and limited interaction with the rest of NA players
It seems that Helseth and ROM really do have loyal following. I know Ostrich Eggs also had a following and the pugs in his team looked up to him when he solo queued. He was chatty and friendly while being extraordinary
Dude i can not tell you how crazy people got when OE was on there team. It was crazy, people would whisper me and take screen prints of OE being on there team or fighting him. Not to mention when the Abjured lost the 1st round vs the ORNG every comment to the right of the screen had some sourd of OE reference.
I think it would be great for the NA scene if he came back with a good team to compete. He definitely has alot of respect from the NA community for what ever reason.

Well if you’ve been playing engie for 2.5 yrs, I’m surprised that you aren’t familiar with the trait specialization that offers engies sustain and additional cleansing. It’s a bit more obvious now that traits are simplified.
Only elementalist RoF gets applied like candy but even that can be avoided.
You don’t negate burns from cleanses alone. Being in constant motion makes it harder for them to land their skills. You don’t just stand in the middle like a sore thumb. You can dodge and even interrupt their burn application.
The high stacks do not come from a single skill like many of you complain and whine about. If you cant break away from the succession of burn application, then yeah it’s a l2p issue
The problem is not the fire stacks, it is the overall output damage, when u can take down 2 players in 2-3 seconds something is fishy, Anet dumbed down the skill level that is needed to kill/down players, a thing that in gw1 was required team work.
If they dont want to die pick another class with a better gimmik.
No ele is taking down 2 players in 2-3 seconds unless both are afk or already at very low hp…

It takes more time than that to even ramp up their might stacks than they have to land ALL of their fire spells on you… if you lose to DD ele in 2-3 secs, somethings wrong with you, not the ele

It’s possible if he had 10% HP but not 2-3s from full HP

Rangers have literally the worst condi cleansing in the game currently.
We have 3 condi removel in 10 sec interval, where we don’t have a clue when this cleanse will happen, this means you’ll already eat 5-6 sec of burn which is crucial OR your pet will get those conditions and will instantly die of burning unless you are running bear or drakes.. LOL
Then we have survival skills to remove condis, really? The last thing ranger should do is waste utility stun break or any survival skill just for condi cleanse. RANGER NEEDS utility to play, not to use them for cleansing condis..
Condition melee ranger with s/t + a/d is fine, because you run signet + remove on survival skill use, because you use 3-4 survival skills anyways. BUT… to be fair if you expect power ranger to run more then 2 utilities that are survival you are wrong, because with current meta, this is IMPOSSIBLE and rangers are literally on the worst position currently to deal with this kind of problems.
Sadly game does have mechanics to prevent power damage, and we know how to deal with power builds, but in condition cases, anet did not provide enough condition clears for classes to make this fights equal, CONDI vs POWER. SO i hope anet got a call from this lecture..
You gotta be kidding me. Wilderness Survival is a must in this meta. Maybe you should re-kitten how you play a ranger. Im glad burning damage exist because ppl like you run brain-dead dps heavy builds with no consideration to cleansing. Then come here and complain.
This thread is about condi cleansing. On my ranger, the only class I’m 50/50 beating is Mesmer. Everyone else falls – condi or dps build. Rangers have amazing condi removal.
I have absolutely no issues cleansing burns on engie with my amr hgh cleansing synergy spec. I have 3 engies I primarily pvp with each with a different build. Kinetic battery is ok if against high dps opponents.
Good engis stack the burn, moa you and you die. Kinetic battery mainly improves burst oriented engi comps like the marauder rifle aaaand the burn engi.

i play Mesmer too and it’s not hard to avoid/dodge or interrupt their high burn skills.
if against an engie, use your cleanse from incendiary ammo and just keep distance to negate pistol 4. that’s it. then the engie is screwed coz of long cd.
vs guards it’s easy to dodge from blue fireball, stay away from burn field. if they teleport, use f4.
Not quite so simple. Good engis can use the burning toolbelt 3 times in a row before it goes on cd. Guards proc burns that you can’t evade and running awy from the guard whenever he has a blue circle isnt always an option.
On topic: on engi my only instant cleanse is elixir s and usually im pretty much dead by the end of it if it happens to cleanse the wrong condi.
Kinda funny how conditions was supposed to be a mesmers weakspot.
Also good with bringing the other condis up to par if burning gets nerfed.

eles only slightly less tanky than before but have hella high burn damage. if you cleanse their burns, they use burning speed which is hella high dps if timed with intelligence sigil and might. by then ring of fire cd is up and they’ll burn you again. if you dodge that, no worries they have drakes breath at your tail.

Warrior LB burning is meh. Duration short, stacks are low
Ranger burns are meh. 25s CD on torch 5 and flame trap 15s CD. Damage by single stack pulse instead of quick multi-stack
bruh ranger has quick draw + traited cooldowns on traps and offhand weapons….. bonfire (9 stacks of burn) , 8 secs later, another bonfire… + flame trap is 12 sec… gl handling that.. after all the other condi’s ranger can throw at you (plenty of poisons and bleeding and constantly being annoyed by pet/taunt…

Also, bonfire does not apply 9 stacks of burning, it applies 9 stacks of PULSING burns, which is a huge ripoff compared to what RoF could do. Same goes for flame trap, pulsing burns. Same goes for engineer’s napalm, pulsing burns.
Everyone spouting “condi cleanse” has never played against a burn engineer.
You can maintain 7 stacks of burning and reapply over and over and over if it is cleansed…. no amount of cleanse in the world can keep you alive.
…everyone cried about burn guardian, and now engineers are finally figuring out that their stuff is the absolute most broken out of any class capable of applying burn, and you better believe they are abusing it.
Cleanse works against condi guard, who needs to blow his load completely to achieve over 7 stacks of burning….. an enginer can practically autoattack with the flamethrower.
Boggles my mind you’d complain about engie burns when eles have access to a potential of 6 stacks of burning every 10 seconds with RoF ALONE.
I main an engie and the highest realistic (something that occurs in a match not vs dummies) stacks of burn I can land is between 10-11 depending on when IP procs.
One of our best burning skills have a 50 sec CD. In fact a lot of our burn skills either have long cd or apply pulsing damage instead of quick multi-stack.
I main engie and still do but sometimes play ele to be more useful for the team. Cele signet necros are problematic for builds that do heavy burning and bleeds (do these still exist?)
Being an engie, I have a bias against necros but for the sake of balance, I think it’s good they’re around.
