The worst thing about ranked is people raging in chat during a match.

This is what scares me from entering it the most. I realize I am not the best pvper, but I do like it and find it fun, but I do not want to be attacked while I am there.

If you fully grasp conquest mode along with the 4 maps in rotation, I’d say you’re better than 70% of the ranked solo Qers of late. People get emotional but don’t let that scare you. Remember, the ones who are quick to call others “noob” are probably one themselves

LOL I remember that big time. Also Thieves Sword/Pistol build, Decap Engis, and Hambow Warriors xD. Those still around or no? Oh, and conditions in general. Ele’s were at the bottom of the trash tier then.

cele eles have been dominant for about a year now. their position was briefly threatened by shoutbows a couple months before huge patch. thanks to burning buff, well synergized traits and general nerf to warrior build diversity, eles have again secured their dominance

Nerfing Lich and Rampage will yield an even wider class imbalance gap. Neither of these classes I main but for the sake of diversity, they’re fine the way it is. Lich should at least get a shorter CD. I may be wrong but I remember Lich’s duration lasting far longer than it does now

i am forced into sa/vamp literary because of mesmers only… i just hate it~

good mes (see tourney teams) will burst you before you even know what happend…. bad mesmers are extremely annoying to fight because even if they miss every single shatter and stun they are still hard to bring down~

There’s like 30 fotm mesmer for every good mesmer. And 200 fotm mesmer for every tourney tiered mesmer.

The game mode affects your overall enjoyment as well. If you hate yourself, you could go against a zerg of fotm mesmers in hotjoin. Ranked is also teeming with fotm mesmers but they are easily identified by their poor positioning.

Because current map objectives support team play. No 1v1 game mode exist

It’s really not a big deal. A tight team comp only matters if you limit yourself playing in a full pre. Solo queue, feel free to run whatever build you feel will contribute the most. If a selfish 1v1 build allows one to efficiently decap, cap, and defend, so be it.

What happened to mesmers recently was a reversal of skill cap. I’m sure todays fotm mesmer wouldn’t enjoy yesterdays 4/4/0/0/6 shatter as much.

I don’t think mesmers are op, they’re just more viable in team play.

The positive thing about the patch is mesmer presence in high tier tourneys.

In solo q, I let the enemy team use their treb as much as they want ESPECIALLY if they suck at it. But my slow teammates (a few exceptions) always destroy it and fail to see the significance of letting enemy treb if they suck.

Won a 4v5 recently. We had a superstar trebber. I’m average at it so I avoid operating it and cap instead.

Got hate messages from BOTH my teammates and rivals for running around unranked with my spirit Guardians floating sword, hammer and shield.

I jump a lot at the beginning of the match when Im on my lvl 1 or 2. I can sense the hate eyes from my teammates

I jump a lot on the stomped lifeless body of my opponent when Im on my brown armored lvl 1 or 2. Angry PMs ensue

Most of my lvl 1 and 2s are Caucasian human males

People are judgmental, that makes doing stuff like this entertaining.

I’ve been playing since 2012 but sometimes matchmaking makes me feel like someone with only 2 hours of experience – totally helpless

Started game with engie but if you want a good entry level class to get you familiar with mechanics, I suggest a DPS ranger.

• They’re not tanky like eles or some necros or guards but it’s best to start the game from a damage dealing build.

• One thing about this game you have to master is “landing” your skills on targets. LB ranger is a good build to start.

• And they do have defensive utilities like deflecting damage to your pet or not get physical damage for 6sec. etc etc.

But if you really want to start out tanky, then what NeXeD recommended is good.

Only worthless if you were spamming it and not timing it. There’s a reason why most blind skills are fast/instant, to be a pseudo-interrupt.

Terrormancer still works, you just wont be gaining a lot of DS.
Poison Master Ranger works and kills eles and Necros. (uses one trap)
Survival Condi Ranger also works, kills Eles or stalemates them. (uses one trap)
Shatter Mesmer still works, in fact, it probably has more survivability than the Stun-Spam Mesmer.

Trap condition Ranger, you can’t go full traps ever again unless you’re fighting random group of people.

Bomb Heal Engie has now become something different. You can burst heal people and yourself. Literally going for 10% to 100% in a few seconds.

I see what you’re saying except that all of the above minus shatter are extremely watered down versions, not worth running anymore. Since the thread is about this meta, I was citing builds that either no longer exist or not viable.

The simplification of only choosing 3 specializations and main stats exclusively from armor reduces the possibility of creating “niche” or counter meta builds.

I usually stop at 5 losses. Log on another account and for some reason make up for my losses on there. If you queue solo ranked, I’ve noticed things could get streaky. It’s like the system pre-determines if you will be in the advantaged or disadvantaged team. A dev confirmed this months ago

When you reach first place on the scoreboard in spvp matches.
That’s how you know you are a good player.

- You see someone capping a point alone? Join him up. You NEED those extra points.
- You see an enemy on the ground that is about 0,5 seconds away to be stomped?
Waste all your Cooldowns to reach him just in time to land that autoattack that’s gonna secure you those +5 points. Then write in chat #WORTH
- Are you in Nifhel? Be sure to kill the mobs when nobody is around. You are gonna get those sweet +25 points and be way ahead your teammates! But be swift about it! Or you are gonna miss those 2-3 man decapping/capping points.

That’s what pro players like me do.

With hotjoin and unranked to practice in, I don’t understand why people that are unaware of the basic protocols queue for ranked. I know leaderboards don’t exist yada yada but there should still be higher expectations from ranked.

I’ve learned to adopt to this meta.

But the one thing I really hate about it is that it made a lot of ppl quit pvp. The absence of a leaderboard plus a new meta unlike anything in the past was enough for them to quit entirely.

No doubt about it, pre June 23rd meta was not only way more balanced but also allowed the coexistence of unique builds that are no longer available or viable today.

Pre June 23rd there were 4 dominant builds:

-cele rifle engie
-cele dd ele
-shoutbow warrior
-medi guard

These builds were also viable and used by solo queuers who like pvp but not in high tier tourneys. Today, the following are either extinct or a shadow of what they used to be:

-bomb heal engie
-p/p rabid engie
-trap condi ranger
-poison master ranger (ele, shoutbow killer)
-survival condi ranger
-shatter mesmer 4/4/0/0/6
-terrormancer
-high burst fresh air ele

I can play DD celestial ele.

It is my go-to class when everything else fails.
It is my go-to build when I feel too lazy to die.

It is not my main and I am average at best.

Mesmers get on my nerves when I go against them….especially teamed ones that go out of their way to intentionally look alike (yes it’s true, they exist, was a team of 3)

But with mesmers around, at least there are 2 dominant classes. If mesmers get nerfed but eles don’t, it will be a sad day for pvp. Neither one of these I main. Just saying for the sake of PvP as a whole.

So eles are fine where they are. Not only are they fine, but they are ahead of the pack.

The non-elementalists who ask for mesmer nerf will regret it as the OPness of elementalists will emerge. I’m fair. I don’t mind a mesmer nerf as long as eles get it too.

1. sylvari – male
2. human – female
3. norn – female
4. charr – male

Out of all 4, the best for me was human female followed by norn female. Worst was charr.

A lot of rank 80s are scrubs. I have r80 accounts but I don’t log on as much due to long queue times fecal matchmaking

I’d rather team with rank 40s with solid map competency from unranked/ranked queues than a rank 80 from hotjoin farming

I don’t mind the influx of inexperienced players if they are willing to listen and learn. The ones I hate the most are the “know-it-all-noobs” with flawed opinions.
But having more people participate should be good in the long run provided they don’t offend veteran players to give up

Where ADD stood for Attention Deficit Disorder, which I suffer from (thus the connection)
