Lol I know pimsley is a competent pvper. But I want to add that maybe the imbalanced team scores could also come from a few 4v5/someone AFK/RQ.

I don’t know how else to say this without sounding terse but I’m really having a hard time relating to the problems you guys are having with burn damage. If you looked at my end game stats, the condi damage I received was less than 1/3 of direct damage.
I’ll post cause of death the next time I’m in-game

People that defend burn damage aren’t necessarily running burn builds. Some people suffer from condis less than others. If you care to look at my end game stats, you will see the effect condition damage have on me.
If ever I end up on the same team as you, I will happily cleanse your burns and shun enemies away.

Hmm ok makes sense. SOOO I hope the prices come down on the GS coz that will look sick on my reaper.
I hate how guardian aegis ruin shield animations. Ghastly shield looked good on a black hole themed chronomancer. Twilight GS, Ghastly shield and I’m still trying to figure the right sword skin.
Could be people coming back or it could be that they’re afraid ANet will release it again and that the price will drop way down, so they’re getting the good price while they can.

If that’s the case…. they are either speculating or someone has access to privileged insider info and want to cash out fast. I’ve searched online and couldn’t find info on the possibility of a re-releasing the skins. I know they were only avail thru BL chests in 2012.
It dropped by almost half. Is the skin found in BL chests? Why is there a more supply of them all the sudden?

Damage isn’t too high. Condi spam is too high. The best way to test: Whenever you die in PvP, look at what killed you. Do you see more direct damage or condi damage in there?

The concern I have for thieves is pvp related. Sorry guys it’s just that I don’t leave hotm and don’t know much about how thieves perform in pve.
Thanks Pimsley, for being genuinely helpful. It’s nice of you to write a detailed post explaining how to counter a build you seem to enjoy playing. Not many people could do that. In fact, they try to mislead or deflect attention away from their build.
BTW, I used a ranger trapper build to counter turret engies back then. I should have posted the build on the forum so people countered instead of complain to the point where the build got nerfed to uselessness.
Really? Just run Reaper. The entire elite spec hard counters Elementalists. I just love a perma slow on my weapon swapping and it’s even more crippling as you have to wait to overcharge.
Can we please have it so Elementalists is not the ONLY class were our weapon swapping can be slowed?

Unless its a d/d ele. Phantaram streamed some 1v1 tempest against reaper (i think the reaper was nos). The duels came down to the fact if phantaram could keep up the 90% health tresholds for diamant skin (so i guess the chill argument is plausable) but then at the end he switched to d/d ele and simply outsustained the reaper. It took him a while but he won. And it didnt seem even close.
guess what, phantaram has more experience on d/d ele than nos on reaper lol.
The reaper build nos runs only has 5 buttons different than his regular build and that’s the deathshroud abilities. Simply put reaper does less pressure than regular cele signet necro so it can’t kill a dd ele.
I said the same thing on another post where ppl were complaining how op the reaper was.
I don’t play thief. I tried it years ago but failed. I suck at it.
But I see the value in having a great thief in your team and from my encounters in-game, thieves tend to lose most 1v1 encounters and lack survivability.
I know the forum is teeming with QQ threads. I know such threads make it harder to filter out the good threads. I know most QQ threads are L2P issues.
But threads that are cries for help should at least be looked at.
3 of the 4 people on my team are on my block list. This just feels like an outright troll.

What “powers” this build is the synergy between the rapid regen trait, backpack regen, HGH, Hidden Flask, Heavy armor exploit…. You can even be more aggressive with the healing by traiting firearms with soothing detonation and bunker down.
Right now it only seems powerful because the counter build hasn’t been found yet. Good news is that I believe there is a very powerful counter to this build.
It’s a bit different from d/d ele. This has more sustain whereas the d/d does more damage. The counter to this build will be similar to what counters d/d ele pre June patch and shoutbows of the same era.
I’ve attached a screenie with support and healing stats .
I just hope I have enough time this evening to test out the counter

When I solo queued scrapper, my biggest contribution was support for the team.
Support builds are usually not OP coz not everyone can play it ESPECIALLY to support solo queue scrubs.
Im sure there is a counter but no point in worrying about it now. Countering a support build is mean. Why would you want to counter a kind, helpful person who chose a build to support solo queue scrubs?
The obvious answer to that would be because it turns those solo queue scrubs into invincible killing machines.

Scrapper isn’t a killing machine. It’s more of a support machine. What it does is turn solo queue scrubs into support machines. It’s not a really cool title and a lot of solo queue scrubs don’t appreciate support builds.
Half was base Mes, half Chrono. The Ranger was ranger for daily, not Druid xD

all solo queue coz i hate everyone and have no frendz but pls be nice to me im really harmless. i think im just smarter and more analytical than most ppl. there is a counter to my build but i wont say coz that’s dum if i do.
My list would be:
Chrono (blows everything out of the water)
Scrapper (dat dmg)
Reaper (too less mobility for the first place)
herald (overall really stronk)
Druid (great potential)

tempest (downgrade)I think the upper five classes are really profiting from their specialisation. Every single one of them gains imo a great and awesome boost. Mesmer is OP but so fun to play it’s ridiculous.
For the lower bracket I don’t belive that the specialisations are good enough for the current meta, so they will be worse for the meta that is comming.
Reaper is powerful no doubt, especially in team fights which is where they are the most useful
But in 1v1 encounters, d/d ele and chronomancer blows it out of the water. And plus it still lacks a disengage
Dagger/dagger celestial elementalists are still killing it.
I like playing it now coz a lot of the fotm eles have moved on.
I’ve beaten every elite spec on a 1v1 on-point encounter. But I did lose to a very good Mesmer/chrono

Should consider being more aggressive with creating affiliate partners and hit up influential gaming personalities so that lots of people buy your game and thus increase the pvp population further so that SOLO QUEUE can stand on its own without having to feed the low population TEAM QUEUE.
The biggest problem I had and still have with RoF was not the 3 burning stacks……It was the ridiculous 10s cd.
With 4s burning duration, there is only a tiny 6 sec break before you are bound for another round of 4s burning. If there are multiple d/d eles on point, you’re pretty much screwed.
Remember that RoF isn’t even a utility. Guards have a fire ring consecration utility but with a very long CD. Same for engie FT 4, long CD and easy to avoid and nowhere close to being as powerful.
If they were sincere about “balancing” the d/d ele, what they should have done is increase the CD of RoF to 30s traited. They could keep the old 3 burn stacks per passthru
I queued solo and your team’s comp will be at the discretion of your teammates since there are no penalties for swapping. The ones that swap out classes to improve comp are the best teammates you encounter queuing solo
I counter these w/ power wells necro. Use wh4 to aoe daze then wh5 to build some LF and cripple.
They’re not the best at capping. Maybe a bigger threat in WvW
On main class (not certain if that matters) did ok 3 out of 4 games since matchmaking update. Lost game still came out close. Last game before update was a complete mismatch.
Engies would need its traits reworked first and foremost.
Besides the obvious, we have high effort, low rewarding traits like Soothing Detonation.
I think they hired interns from Community College University to work on June 23 engie patch.
they got a might and condi dmg nerf.
rof always did aoe physical damage. that’s not new
they are kinda like the pre june patch d/d eles only w/o celestial engies and warriors running around that outdamage or outsustain them

Anet loves rangers. Rangers get a lot of respect from PvPers. This is why they are permitted to hold on to great buffs for years.
We are not allowed to have nice things because people get what should be a L2P issue confused with broken programming.

So far 1:1 on my NA account. Both games were close but data pool too small. I will keep a record of next 100 games.

OP doesn’t have l2p issue, the problem IS there for high mmr players qing alone
it gets really obvious if you make new account and get 100+ wins with high win rate (90% in my case);
the wall is simply insane:
- you win few games, having ok matches, maybe even lopsided where you just 500-10 other team
- then game decides ok, your win rate is too high, let’t get it down a bit
- you get bunch of games in a row where 3 of your teammates get constantly soloed by 1 guy that you can easily 100-0…. and 4th is too busy farming animal/buffs all game
i honestly was thinking to start to record such games, it is sometimes beyond hilarious
example: in one of such amazing games i managed to solo 2 enemy medi guards on thief (yes, on thief) while my team struggled to even cap one point w/o wiping xD

It was ok when solo queue had its dedicated queue but today – with the high possibility going against premades AND a totally messed up matchmaking system that is racist to high MMR people – I will say to you all the profanity known to mankind if you expect a pure solo queue player to have a 50% win rate.
A fair win-ratio is between 40-45%.
Anything higher than 45% win as a solo queue player is doing very well.
MAYBE it’s possible if you are not a high MMR player and are always teamed up with the group that has the pre-determined advantage. OR you have played less than 50 games like me on this noob EU acct.
Now, if you are always queued in a team – YOU BETTER DARN HAVE A WIN RATIO OF 65% or higher. If below that, you are pathetic.

It takes more skill to play a warrior coz landing attacks aren’t as dumbed down as aoe d/d eles.
For the first time, we are going to have a build that’s a dedicated healer. In the previous MMO’s you’ve played, EVERYONE made room for healers. EVERYONE loves healers.

STAFF SKILLS
Solar Beam – Any ally between you and the target that are caught inside the beam will be healed by you. 3 Pulses, 1200 range. The healing numbers you see on the tooltips are without stats so they will be better ingame.
Astral Wisp – Cast a wisp on the target, it will deal damage to the target initially but any ally that it pass through will be healed. Good support for melee characters.
Astral Gace – Movement based skill that can you into position. Can be used as an escape or gap closer. Heal allies at the location you end up. It serve also as a burst because it creates a blast finisher at that locale.
Vine Surge – Fires off a cascade of vines, shooting toward your enemy to immobilize them. Allies caught in it are freed from movement impairing conditions.
Sublime Conversion – Take any damaging projectiles and negate them without actually destroying them. It will turn incoming projectiles into healing projectiles. It will not work on projectiles coming from above so you will need to position yourself so that the projectiles are coming in at an angle and passes through the wall.
TRAITS
Minor
•Celestial Being – Allow you access to staves, glyphs and celestial avatar
•Live Vicariously – When you heal an ally, you are also healed. This makes you very sustainy and stable.
•Natural Mender – Increases your outgoing healing by 2% for 6s. Stacks to maximum of 10 stacks (i.e. gain 20% more outgoing heals).
Adept
•Druidic Clarity – Becoming a celestial avatar removes ALL conditions from you.
•Cultivated Synergy – Using a heal skill heal allies around you and your pet. You can double up this ability if you stand next to your pet.
•Primal Echoes – Reduces recharge staff skills by 20% and daze enemies around you when you swap to staff.
Master
•Celestial Shadow – When you leave Celestial form, you and your allies gain AoE superspeed and stealth.
•Verdant Etching – Reduce recharge of your glyphs by 20% and everytime you activate a glyph you plant a Seed of Life. It will cover the condition weakness that rangers typically had.
•Natural Stride – Reduce duration of movement impairing conditions by 50-66% and your movement condition is increased by 33% (i.e. perm swiftness) as long you do not have any movement impairing conditions. Great trait for getting from place to place.
Grandmaster
•Grace of the Land – When you enter Celestial Avatar form, incoming condition damage is reduced by 33% for you and your allies.
•Lingering Light – Healing an ally creates a Cosmic Wisp that orbits you and healing allies it touches
•Ancient Seeds – Striking a stunned, dazed, knocked down, or launched foes summon roots to entangle them for 5s (immobilize + bleed). If you happen to knockback a bunch of enemies with say Glyph of the Tides and hitting them with another AoE ability for example it is going to hurt.
