On a positive note (if there’s anything positive left in this dump of game) at least youre a high MMR player which means you probably know what you’re doing.
But unfortunately, the system only allows low MMR players to progress w/ little to no effort.
So if you know what you’re doing and positively contribute to the team’s effort but queue solo, you’re not going anywhere.
I would wait longer than 3 days and at least until after we enable decay before making a judgement on how the team leaderboard will settle out. It is not our intention that a single team of players has the time to possibly keep that many entries at the top of the leaderboard.
While not wishing to be confrontational, for one the condescending attitude is grossly disrespectful to the people who pay your bills.
For second? You are completely incorrect in your assumptions. One of Abjured’s team is in the top 25 with only 6 games played. Many teams have more wins than this, you don’t need to put constant effort into maintaining your spot, just keep a high win rate.

The level of unsportmanship from these teams is unreal right now and it’s even worse that Anet’s #1 and #2 PvP developers, Josh and Hugh, are both part of the mist initiative themselves so it’s impossible to discuss anything with them unless you’re in the ESL scene. For the rest of us, we’ll just have to continue getting farmed 24/7 by these teams until everyone gets sick of it and quits gw2.

Pvpers aren’t stupid. We know when people we used to respect and admire are gaming us.
Not all streamers or top pvpers are scumbags tho. We still respect Helseth, ROM, OE, apex, caed’s team, Never Lucky for that amazing show of good sportsmanship and all the pro league teams not spamming roster.
Spamming roster while being a top team is greedy AF. Partially, the 2 anet employees are to blame.
I’m a noob necro relative to some of the necro mains on this thread but I’ll try to clarify the 2 classes and end the misunderstanding.
Ok during the hambow era, I would swap from my engie to my warrior to counter the necro. All I had to do was cc stun, knockback chain him with my hammer.
I also played necro at the time and when I confronted the warrior, I would keep my distance to avoid the hammer and FEAR him to death.
That was the terrormancer build and it did ok vs warrior.
Now the powerbuild necro on the other hand, struggled vs warrior. I did not run power builds at the time because of warriors.
Helseth is banned from these forums for a reason. That reason is that he is an online troll and bully. Some of the comments he has made about specific devs in the past make it even more hilarious that those same devs would ever listen to what he has to say. One time on twitch or youtube some of the things he said about karl and roy should of earned him a perma ban from all things gw2. Surprised anet never had the integrity to shut down such toxic members of the community
I can see how he can rub off as being a bully to some people.
But being banned from the forum doesn’t necessarily mean he’s vile. Sometimes I think the moderators don’t speak English. They issue infractions without understanding the whole context of the message. I am one infraction away from being banned. That’s after they banned my main account.
From what I see, unless Helseth groups up with his team and goes on roflstomp rampage there is no chance for him (and similar players) to get to an adequate division. I don’t think it’s fun, nobody does.
In terms of the championship with the prize pool is concerned, he doesn’t need to get into the top division because he’s already in the pro league. As long as TCG doesn’t sink to the bottom of pro league, he’ll be fine. But you’re right, the whole league arrangement isn’t fun.
I was focused on him losing 2 pips from that last match that I failed to see the bigger picture like you did.
In fact, I started a thread about how difficult it would be for a soloQer to finish Emerald. But seeing this happen to one of the best pvpers is sad indeed. Hope he stops duo queuing.
On Emerald, soloQers will have an excruciating time with completion. Onwards, it will be near impossible. Proceed if you have a fetish for being abused by the developer and have very little respect for yourself.

You can play in unranked.
You have no team because your friends aren’t foolish enough to waste time on this game. So, you can only almost fairly play in unranked.
Doesn’t matter how talented you are.
You may think its not fair that scrub farmers have reached Sapphire.
You may think it’s not fair that you are far better and more experienced than them individually.
However, they only exist due to how the Leagues are structured.
They have put in the big bucks in an attempt to capture the professional gaming crowd…and failed miserably.
Many reasons why. There are lots of really good, really competent solo pvpers who have been playing pvp exclusively for years. With the current arrangement, this poor lot is getting farmed by pre-made teams. In most cases, the soloQuers are much more skilled and knowledgeable than the premade members.
How does a company expect the current player base to praise their game when they get treated like dirt?
If they made an effort to make the player base happy, word will spread virally. But until that happens, they can throw whatever cash prize they can afford but never realize their goals.
You know what’s terrible? I have far more success if my teammates all soloQ’d.
Less successful when I get teamed up with a guild full of pvers. I actually hate being teamed up with guilds. A lot of guilds are scrubby. I’d take veteran soloQ pvpers in my team any day.
Sorry that was slightly off topic. But if I get good solo teammates…I almost don’t mind going against premades. The problem is I DONT ALWAYS get good soloQ teammates. It’s inconsistent
I only pvp and unaware of the world outside hotm. Experienced the 100blades, backstab, 100nades, shatter, dhuumfire, spirit, AH, hambow, turret, mediguard, cele rifle, shoutbow, burnguard, dd cele and current meta so I’m used to it. In fact I prefer fast intense matches. It’ll grow on you if you give it time

And abc, the soloqueue factor isn’t as relevant as you think it is. Different builds are situational and matchup dependent. For example, (also answering speed Starr’s argument) corrupt boon is way better against Mallyx revs that signets are, while full on signets are better against things like burn guards and trap Rangers compared to corruptions.
That was exactly my point. Builds from organized teams were made for a reason and usually not the best option for people that play with random teammates. Also, it’s not hard to differentiate the best use for condi transfer and boon stripping.
I can tell you’re very passionate about the class based on all the content you took the time to write about. That’s certainly not a bad thing.
Nos can run whatever darn build he wants because aside from being a great necro, he has the full, unconditional support of equally skilled teammates….It’s something very very very very few of us have. Their camaraderie is what sets them apart from all the other teams.
So just coz Nos runs it doesn’t mean it’s optimized for your own best interests. And if you soloQ, his build is more likely to not be in your best interests.
So you’re saying that other teams that aren’t the abjured aren’t supporting their necromancers? Thats a huge, and quite wrong assumption. If anything certain reapers that aren’t doing well in certain teams aren’t doing well because of noticeable errors in their mechanical skill (one reaper in NA pro leauge used condi transfers with no condis on him). Signets and team support won’t make up for someone being a poor player..
The logic you’ve used to come to your conclusion is faulty.
On a personal level, I’ve used corruption builds off and on since June and I felt fine for soloqueue vs. team queue. Just because I decide to not use signets, it doesn’t mean I need a babysitter, or that I’m mechanically a worse player than a necro that does use signets, because theres more to the class than just signets.

Cele necros only came to be after the June 23 patch, the same patch that nerfed warrior shouts.
But prior to that patch, the 2 dominant necro builds were terrormancer and power wells – both of which were hard countered by warriors.
Despite diamond skin tempest, daredevils and mallyx shiro out and about, the reaper is in a healthy spot. I think a shortage of warriors is also a contributing factor to the reaper’s current popularity.
In the past, when necros bullied engies, I’d swap to a warrior and have the last laugh. But I’m on good terms with necros now, it’s a respectable class but still have lots of flaws.
I think the biggest problem here is that the majority of warrior mains have quit or rerolled to a different class.
As a multiclasser I’ll attempt to be unbiased. I agree that warriors still hard counter necros. Reapers as well. In fact, it’s easy to counter melee reaper shroud. I dodge or circle strafe them with a ranged until all their LF is depleted before popping rampage. After that, theres not much the necro could do.
In the past it was brain dead easy to kill necros with the hambow before the adrenaline nerf.
Wake up people. Like Vapour said, Condi Reapers have 3 powerful counters. That in itself proves that the build is balanced.
Instead of learning how to counter, all I see are people throwing tantrums demanding to get builds nerfed.

Using resistance spam or diamond skin has nothing to do with “learning how to counter”. It is just counterbuilding and limited to very few classes. If the only aviable counter is picking the right class and traits, otherwise you can’t do anything, it actually means, there is no real counterplay to condi reaper.
There is counter*play*. Cleanse and kite when the Necro is in Reaper Shroud. Keep slows up and simply dodge away from the Shroud #2, or just make sure to dodge Shroud #5. When the Necro isn’t in Shroud, apply burst/damage/focus/etc. Dodge the LF generating abilities, if you feel inclined to keep the Necro out of Shroud, or dodge the highest damage/condi applying abilities if you want to mitigate the damage potential.
And counterbuilding is part of the game. You expect every class spec to be balanced against every class spec in 1v1? Is that what you think this game is about? If you don’t expect that, then it’s necessarily the case that certain builds will be better against certain other builds. That’s the way the cookie crumbles. If you do expect that, then I think you’ve been misinformed.

IKR? Even if you don’t have HoT there are three powerful counters, namely 3vs1, 4vs1, and 5vs1. You guys just need to wake up and figure this simple stuff out.

I actually play the 2 counter builds to Reaper, Daredevil being the exception.
And there are counter plays to the Reaper outside playing counter builds. But with the “nerf” premise of this thread, it’s a waste of time explaining anything because they already have their opinions established and won’t consider advice.
Reapers are fine. There are builds far more superior than the Reaper in every way possible. But I’m not the kind of person who complains a lot because it’s often seen as a sign of weakness of the will
The ones I’ve seen are all butt fugly. The artists responsible for designing mace skins were uninspired it looks like. You guys know any decent looking ones? Pics would help.
When I queue solo, I still prefer carrion because it eliminates opponents faster and I’ll never know if teammates have my back or out there 4man zerging.
However I can understand why celestial is preferred in organized teams. The sustain (plus extra crits) will help you hold a point long enough till you get backup.
When I queue with my engie, I end up on blue team more than I do red. The screenies are just a small sample but in general, I end up on blue 65-70% on engie.
I main engie and it’s still the class I hold closest to my heart.
But I’ve been giving love to the necromancer and even more so the Reaper since Nov 4.
Not sure what made OE reroll to Reaper but for me, it was the trait that made chill DOT. It is reminiscent, at least for me, to the engie’s Incendiary Powder (passive dmg ftw) pre June 23.
OE is mechanically gifted. I’ve encountered him on thief, fresh air, necro etc. Would like to see him in action with the Scrapper though.
What I loved about warriors is how straight forward their mechanics were. It certainly was not a low skill cap class. It took time to master landing your blows and you could always tell the beginners from the veterans by how consistent they delivered attacks.
It brings me discomfort seeing how warriors fall to DH 1v1 of equal skill level.
Sigh…shoutbows were my favorite allies back in the day.
Just found out that a pve NPC named Rytlock was a warrior pre-HoT and became a revenant on expac. Maybe they intended for warriors to reroll to revenant.
I don’t think there was ever a time in GW2 pvp history where guardians could easily beat warriors 1v1 until this expac. Even when guard burns were buffed pre-expac they couldn’t beat warriors. Same for dps guards pre-expac.
Bunker guards are no longer a thing but at least they have DH and burn build
