Your title says 3 Mesmer and 2 eles but your post wants burning from mesmers, eles and guardians nerfed. If you didn’t confuse a guardian for a Mesmer, then guardian burns have nothing to do with the match you are complaining about.

Also, PU Mesmer burning is not great and having 2 or more PU Mesmers sux for any team. I’d rather have 1 direct dmg shatter. Why did you guys let PU mesmers cap? It’s a strong troll build but weak capping build

Build templates would be nice. I’d pay gems for those. I literally have 2 slots for every class except thief and 3 character slots for engie.

A simple build template will eliminate the need to have all those extra character slots for pvp. If you think about it, it’s good business for anet to not have templates coz you’re forced to buy character slots. LOL. But if they offered templates, I’d buy those too for this alt acct.

There were threads about how the matchmaking algos don’t filter out class when assembling teams. That’s why it’s important that teammates take the initiative to swap out if needed to improve comp. Unfortunately, a good majority do not.

Getting a response when communicating with your (pug) teammates is difficult. What more if you ask them to swap. That’s why I don’t even bother asking but always thank them when they do swap.

BTW nothing wrong with new names. If they stick, just give them enough time to catch up to be useful teammates. Once their skills “mature” hopefully we see fewer mismatched games or long losing streaks.

I have another theory.

SoloQ was removed around the time the 1st pvp test ladder took place. When you solo queued for ranked back then, there were more pvp veterans around that ended up in your team.

The pvp veteran population may have taken a huge dive. One example is the activity on the pvp forums. Also, around the first test ladder season na prime, my contact list had 20+ logged on and 80% were in hotm. Today, it’s only between 3-5 online na prime.

Take that into consideration plus MMR being wonky.

I kinda agree with your theory in that there are fewer skilled regulars that queue anymore. I hope expac changes that. But solo Q isn’t as fun these days as it used to when the “usual suspects” were a part of the pvp pool.

There was a time when I was familiar with half of the people in a solo Q match. We’d tell each other who to watch for, what build they play etc etc. Now I mostly see new names.

Having a good team attitude (in general) does way more than most people realize. A lot of people are quick to give up and even the tiniest belief that your teammates have got your back can make a big difference.

It’s not going to get you a win every time, but it helps. Similarly, toxic/negative attitudes drag teams down.

One thing to note about positivity tho… especially in regards to praise… it’s good to use it sparingly and apply it truthfully. Teams that are winning too fast too quick can get kitteny because they think they have it in the bag.

So what your saying is that telling your teammates they’re all tall and handsome and well endowed (their gear, like the staff) wont work?

A lot of premades are not even in TS or anything. If that’s the case, the main advantage they have over you is getting to choose your comp. So, to counter that, if you see soloq has dealt you a terrible comp, try to switch to something that will make your comp better if you can. Just one thing you can do to make your odds better.

The premade team with 2 thieves should have swapped one of them out to something else especially after seeing the pugs having 2 guards.

It was a close match and 2 thieves can still work but coordination needs to be extra tight.

We are a mix of intro and extroverted peoples.

Some of us like to be reminded that we play with other like minded people thru communication.

Others like being left alone in peace and quiet.

One thing is certain though, in the higher tier game play, communication (voice coms) is crucial. Looking at map is not suffice.

People are different.

For me personally, I like being in a team that is more talkative than quiet. But not too talkative where they talk nonsense. That could be a bad sign as well.

But in general, teams that communicate do better than those that do not.

BW3 felt way too short. The scrapper build I played had no gyros and used celestial ammy. It was pretty good with support and holding a point.

BUT I would like to incorporate gyros in my build and this thread has given me ideas.

The nerf they did to turrets was uncalled for and a bit extreme.

If they want to keep it that miserable they could at least REDUCE THE LONG CDs.

I’d be lying if I said I’ve never been downed by burn guards. But I’ve gotten downed by physical damage for far far far far more since June update than burn damage coming from non pre nerf RoF eles.

Sorry if I confused you. But burn damage is manageable.

Sometimes I would invade 1v1 servers and go against burn guards on either my warrior or rangers. Dayyum they cant even touch me.

I’m at 59% win ratio but it’s not 100% solo. This evil matchmaking makes it almost impossible to get 59% from pure solo. Quantities matter here. If you played 10 games and won 6, that doesn’t count, lol.

Even though solo queue make up the majority of pvpers, the game sees us as nothing but fish food for premades and sacrificial martyrs for noobs.

In a match with 10 people of equal skill level and the same composition, the team with a 2-man premade will have a greater than 50% chance of winning. I’ve won as many as 15 matches in a row just by queuing with another player. That’s pretty hard to get solo.

With the old solo q, the best players in the game reached as high as 70% win rate from around 1000 matches

I was criticizing the system on how win loss ratios for solo and team are melded into one. I know the queues now combine solo and premades but it would at least be nice if they recorded your games based on your queue status. On my main, I have a ranked win ratio of 59% but it’s not 100% solo. I don’t know how well I did when I queued solo vs queuing with a team.

The only reason I queue unranked is for the opportunity to play skyhammer and courtyard.

Yes I’m aware some people afk or rq if a map that’s unfavorable to them is picked.

I don’t like those people because they are inconsiderate to their teammates.

Why queue or even bother to play a competitive mode if they cant adapt or learn how certain maps are played?

Back when solo Q existed, it was easier to measure an individual’s skill or contribution by their win ratio. Baseline for EVERYONE was 50%. If you played over 100 matches and averaged above 50%, you were likely an above average player. Of course, some were exceptional:

ROM = 1540 solo matches played 848 losses 64.49% win ratio
Sizer = 2018 1001 66.84%
Toker = 1919 1043 64.79%
Tarcis = 678 288 70.19%

Today, it’s self explanatory on why you can’t expect a baseline 50% win ratio if you are queuing solo.

im mostly in ranked but sometimes play in unranked when i want shorter wait times and to troll skyhammer. yes there are premades in unraked. It has its own MMR.

I know it seems like a silly thing to ask but I think it SHOULD.

I’d hate to get teamed up with HoTless F2P people coz theyre scrubby and I don’t want to be associated or be seen in public with them. Ok I’m being facetious but there’s truth in every joke.

The people who bought the base game w/o HoT I don’t mind being teamed with.

The expac and base game purchase to me is like a filter, you know, if they’re serious about pvp or not. There’s going to be a bigger competitive scene and I usually queue to win so stuff like this concerns me a bit.

My dd ele lives a very healthy lifestyle. She exercises regularly and loves running around. She enjoys the warmth, drinks plenty of water and eats high fiber foods to detoxify her body.

That being said, my dd ele despises poison and chill. They make her sick, slow and lazy. Her appearance go from looking 5 years younger to an emaciated, pale skinned, smack abuser that’s prematurely aging.

I was a critic of elementalists after June patch because they really were overtuned but they are ok now. I’d say slightly OP but seeing how meh Tempest was, I think dd eles should be left alone.

I play dd ele too but as an engie main, I know how annoying engies could be. Sometimes more so than dd eles.

On main acct 6534 games, 9721 top stats. Been playing for 3yrs. They used to be “stingy” with the amount of top stats given until very recently. Now there’s a top stat for everything like condition damage received, boons removed etc.

From what I remember there was only a slight reduction in defensive stats. But from all the trait changes and stats no longer affected by trait lines, they got a nice offensive boost. It more than makes up the small defense nerf because they killed faster.

I was gonna pre order FO4 but used my money on HoT instead. Hope I made the right decision

I have been unhappy with how the balancing has been handled for the past 8 months or so (Gee not withstanding), so I dusted off my Xbox and I look forward to playing it again. If the new specs really are upgrades, like Reaper and Scrapper seem to be, it’ll pretty much look like pay-to-win and I’ll mostly be done with the game.

I’ve already taken multiple leaves of absense, like the Turret Engie Era and the recent Ele-Vamp domination, if it keeps happening I would consider myself stupid to stay.

You should stay. It’s fun beating people, something you can’t get from FO4.

Scrapper is the only elite I care about.

Ele, guard, warrior, ranger and yes even necro are more powerful than their HoT elite spec. Haven’t picked up on revenant and prefer chronomancer over it so far.

abc, competition is the reason I started doing PvP in this game, but I only started it because of a back injury I got back in December. Now that my back is about 90% healed I’ve started back up on my training.

Didn’t find D/D Ele all that difficult once you memorized the hotbars. Warrior is probably the most straight-forward class, but loads of fun. The rest fall somewhere in the middle.

Wow powernecro. That’s a great build but I have trouble with it at the start of the match when I have no LF and have to cap home with an incoming d/d ele. yikes!

HobNob – lol Engie is my main and I cant seem to grasp Thief. But good thieves are amazing. I love having one in my team.

Not having a separate solo queue is unhealthy for the game.

They will give away all that money but if the core main users and soloQers are unhappy, they will never get the strong foundation they need to spread the game.

Sure not all premades are unbeatable but in principle, it’s just not sound practice to have solo queue people feed teams.

D/d eles are fine where they are now. Just wait for expac to see how they fare. If they survive expac, it’s a build non HoT buyers can count on.

Edit: I wanted to add that BWE 3 was too short but from what I’ve encountered:
d/d ele beat gs reaper but scrapper and chronomancer beat d/d ele

on this thread – Xghoul is one of the top pvp engies in the game. Jekkt and choovanski are veterans at their respective mains. Others have shared interesting perspectives as well so don’t forget to go over them.

Engies are not as diverse as they used to be but they love hoarding my character slots. I have 3 pvp engie builds I use right now – dire, cele, marauder/soldier and would need to add 2 more for scrapper….sigh

Eles and Engies are amazing at capture based objectives

Engies have a higher skill cap and requires more time to excel at mechanically

But I will go as far as to say that Engies have the best healing skill in the entire game. Turrets heal, regen, water field, blast finisher for more heals or might, condi cleanse, low CD. When I get bored with it and try something new, I end up always going back to it. My engie is married to it.

I try to be optimistic. If class balance isn’t perfect and if it favors certain classes, we still have the ability to either learn and practice soft counters or if we cant beat it, play it.

The part that makes me most nervous is matchmaking for soloQers because no matter how good or long you’ve played, if you are matched up with bad or fairly new people, there isn’t much you can do except queue as a premade or play FallOut 4 instead

Also I hope ANET learns from this d/d ele episode – if people are protesting non stop about something being OP, just do what you did w/ d/d ele and nerf it slightly w/o killing it like you did with dhuumfire, turret engie, thief diversity etc…..

PvP engie here. I’m pretty much on the same boat as you. I main engie but also multiclass and healing turret is as good if not better than warrior’s signet.

I’ll even go as fas as saying it’s the best healing skill in the game – short cd, heals, regen, water field, blast finisher for more heals, condi cleansing. wow just wow. and it kills me coz I want alternatives but non are good enough.
