Overall its more about the weapon setup for each class that determines the skill cap/ceiling. Here’s an experiment, try playing each class and build drunk first then retry is sober or vice versa.

No, powercreep introduced with june patch last year needs to go. Before HoT specs don’t get nerfed to core specs level, nothing should be buffed, period.

Anyhow, I get why a lot of people are upset about DH. But on the bright side, for the first time ever, we could get carried by beginners from the disturbingly low DH skill cap.

It’s not a bad deal seeing pvp beginners actually contribute. Maybe it will make them feel better about themselves and try out other classes and builds. Maybe not. But there are actually strong hard counters to DH. The only time I’m fearful of DH is when I’m on thief.

But there are builds from other classes that are far noobier than condi or MM necro. It actually takes some guts to play necro these days. But like the OP, I favored playing power GS necro over condi.

When going against multiple DH, I swap to my core trap ranger build with signet of stone. With some practice and help from you pets (owl and drake), you could literally 1v2 DH.

I also play this build with the smallest possible asura so most of my pets are bigger than me.

Another good trick w/ ranger is to name your pet the exact same name as your character.

The cheapness of that trick is next-level. I like it.

It seemed more exclusive attaining legendary tier in January but now feels as meaningless as the legendary champ title which I got mid 2014. They both do not reflect skill whatsoever.

Not sure about crafting. Tried it for 5 min but quit coz it didn’t provide the challenge and instant gratification pvp does.

I’m legend x19 and had an emerald in my team. We won so it was so all good. Maybe the emerald was a legend x5 in spirit.

No monthly subs, no forced real money transaction that makes others better except by buying the expansion. You don’t have even to spend even a penny in any of the gem store items like mobiles games that p2win.

The one and only time you really need to pay Anet is when you buy the game once every 2 or 3 years. Is that too hard, support can only go so far without money, businesses won’t survive.

It’s $50. Such a low budget investment for the amount of play time you get.

I feel claustrophobic and boxed-in from the repetitiveness of ranked maps.

DH is anti-fun for sure, but not to the same extent as turret engi / bunker mesmer / spirit ranger.

Anet almost always nerfs FOTM builds. I doubt DH will be an exception.

Turrent engi was really horrible, at least DH has some class.

Well sure because effort and some skill are still required to play DH unlike turret engie.

Relative to most game developers and publishers, Anet is one of the least money-hungry. They could have offered an xpac discount for pvp only but it’s probably too late in the product cycle for them to do that now. $50 for the xpac is cheap. Paying for the core game is cheap considering the countless hours we’ve benefited from it before it became free. I don’t know, maybe I’m just rich.

The DH is immensely popular because it is very effective in conquest and it requires a lower skill cap. It’s an ideal entry-level build the developers created to get more people into pvp. I’ve tried it, it’s ok. Not my thing. I prefer cloth and leather, lol

A tie is where the otherwise worthless personal score matter.

I’m happy when there’s a thief in my team. It only gets risky when there are two but still “winnable” especially in Khylo

The game is definitely not dead but one thing that puzzles me is how low the Twitch viewers were during the main event of year, the championship match.

I think it was around 4500. After all the money and resources they’ve invested in for the Pro League, they’ve only increased viewer count by about 1000 or so from last year’s events. It’s not a bad game to play and watching others could be fun yet the viewership is baffling.

Can anyone shed some light to why that is?

All I can say is that Argi was good on scrapper engie. Judging by what I read on twitch chat, he also has a lot of fans.

I love the quality entertainment and cheap lafffs from twitch chat. Wish those guys would comment on the forum

On more serious note: mmr didn’t get reset, my mmr was fairly high and at infamous “you will have 50% win rate no matter how you resist”. I obviously didn’t resort to the cheesing my way up the tiers like the rest did (tanking mmr down, sucking up to people to roll premade etc.). Add to that that playing thief (and solo) atm is not fun so i do pvp maybe 1-2 times a week now. Do the math.

I don’t really care about leagues anymore since they are a joke, i just found this one matchmaking quite hilarious and wanted to share xD

On side note: i am moving to BnS, GW2 is pretty dead for me pvp wise. If anyone wanna play BnS on EU servers together, hmu

Had I known you needed a team, I would have invited you because I like having one thief in the team. We’re not competing in ESL so who cares about meta.

Good thieves I like because we can start out with an organized 1-3-1 split and create momentum. Once mid and close are capped, far still contested and 3-4 of the enemy wiped, everything just snowballs into our advantage.

Haven’t participated in BnS yet but I’ll probably end up getting it. I heard there’s a race that’s exclusively all female, lol weird.

It’s best to not take this game seriously.

If you soloQ, you have to work really really hard for the pips, especially higher MMR ones. Then have people shamelessly steal the pips that you worked hard for because they decided to pip farm to increase the size of their virtual gonads.

Oh look it’s the most famous necro healer in gw2. I read about that on the necro forum and some other thread.

I solo Q’d all the way to ruby and but completed all of ruby in a 3 man premade, no low division, we were all rubies. I’m at diamond now and the road to legendary looks like a chore. Oh and the Q times are longer when 3 diamonds queue together. I queued solo and lost 3 pips, lmao. So Im pretty much done w/ pvp till next season. I’ll pve or rp instead.

I don’t think anyone in this game has soloQ’d to Legendary legitimately with out tanking their MMR and using the most blatant and offensive cheat of queuing with an amber.

Do you know how that rob and hurt your progress when people use such shameless manipulation?

Legendary division in 333 matches with a 60% win rate from solo/duo queue without tanking your MMR and without queuing with an amber for 3 pip wins like all of the legendary division folks are atm is great!

If the game isnt broken to where these people dont have to wait an hour, they wouldnt be so blatant with manipulation.

The most important question to ask here is – how many pips did OP win and how many pips did the other team lose?

The answer to that should help anyone who is confused whether doing this is right or wrong.

And if they are really ONLY after quick matches, they can always get a free account.

Definitely possible. I solo queued 8 pips into ruby all the way to diamond and only lost 2 pips the whole way their in one single loss. The other losses I had either I didn’t lose a pip or I even gained a pip.

I know you’re good but one thing you can’t ignore is that your presence in the pug team exudes a halo effect. The teammates have already predicted the outcome of a win as soon as they see you on their side. With no doubt or hesitation, they will end up playing their best.

I think what the OP is implying is that he wants to make the teams earn the cash prize because as it stands right now, it’s really easy picking.

Not sure if his main idea will work but introducing an obstacle that would make the teams earn the prize and entertain viewers doesnt sound all that bad.

For those who do not know, hotjoin was a hostile environment full of terrible players that lack map discipline and order. The games were often very one-sided and a big zerg spawn camped the outnumbered team.

The degenerates that used to frequent hotjoin have abandoned it for greener pastures elsewhere in the game. They’ve brought with them the unruly attitude hotjoin was know for.

If you spot a hotjoin player on the enemy team, I suggest you take them down immediately for a quick kill.

A long time ago in Foefire, a bunker guard said that he would cap home and the rest go mid.

During the large mid fight, I noticed how our home wasn’t being contested yet we had waterfall capped! We were the red team and the guard went far coz he thought waterfall was home. LMAO. It wasn’t meant to work but it did. I left mid fight to cap home as soon as I saw one enemy down and our HP bars still looked ok.

Personal score is as irrelevant to conquest pvp as bicycles are to fish.

Anyway, nice work for winning that 4v5. I’ve won 4v5 in Khylo and Temple by reaching 500 points first but never from a tied score. That was incred.

In a 4v5, it helps a ton if you’re comfortable with the class you’re on because you need to win many 1v2 encounters.

People that value personal score fail at outnumbered fights because they have very little experience defending capped nodes. If they had more experience defending, they would have already realized how BS personal score is.

Remember you can only call yourself a real “pro” when you get paid to compete Everyone in the pro league are professionals in that respect.

Yes

Was it justified?
No. I give them lots of cred for attempting to differentiate from the full bunker meta but in a competitive environment, despite how disgusting the meta, they should have known the outcome for taking such risk

Did they do the right thing?
Yes. I, along with many others were thankful they did what they felt they had to do.
