Anyone wants to talk about rev and the need of condi clears? I mean really talk about, not name calling, hair pulling, pacifier kidnapping type.
I think revenant is a class that was thought well, but applied poorly (or nerfed heavily). I am new to the class and I love it. Perfect silent support with different style of play ( and a loveable range weapon hammer). But all the animations are slow and easy to see/dodge. CC’s? You must be blind to not to see the cc’s coming. Condi removal? Well maybe I am new and it is my fault but only thing I can do is continue the pressure when I am condi bombed. I tried to use ventari and jalis but that destroyed my dps. I use Glint and Shiro and there is nothing against condi pressure. My main is thief and I never had a hard time with a rev ( maybe I have experienced bad rev players I do not know.)
Class needs condi clears, better animations, and BUG FIXES. I do not know who made this class but I hope he is punished for giving us an unfinished profession with so many bugs. I mean come on! Even engineers have less bugs than revs.
ps: Do not forget that a rev has no choice on utility skills. He has to choose the bundle itself with the legend. So either fix the bugs and improve the current legends, or give better legends.
ps1: If you evet catch a rev under the water, please be gentle.
Hi there. As the title suggests, I am new to the class. I have been playing gw2 for quite some time but when it comes to the rev, I am a total newbie. Tried the profession first time yesterday night. Felt the bugs immediately. I usually do wvw, both zergs and roam. I would like to ask your advices for playing/build/gear/tactics. I tend to like power builds more.
Thanks already
Warrior in wvw is way better than any vanilla class. Even some elites feel easy to defeat for me. I use vanilla warrior gs axe shield standart build. But I dare not drop defense or discipline. They are sadly a must.
I am sorry for asking thia but maybe they have blinded you? You know the condition blindness can be the cause of this.
And daredevils can insta finish with their elite as I remember correctly. Long chain but not that uncommon.
Support/tanking is the only crap ele does. Leave those guys alone. I would be furious if I had no proper dps or condi option for pvp. Oh wait! I was and rolled another profession. Ele is only strong if the team has brains. Otherwise, they are just slow cooked birds.
Then our dmg and dodges would be too.
Thank you for your kind help
I run a similar build when I play p/p. But in the end it lacks many things. I wish I had my richochet
I like passive game play. I love the randomness and shifting playstyle instead of solid numbers and rotations. But maybe that rune should be removed from the spvp, in that part you might be right.
If you are playing daredevil, p/p can be ok. But whenever I play p/p (don’t have HoT) I feel clunky and one trick pony.
Health pool, different utility skills, different weapon skills, different f skills. That is why.
Anet failed with HoT and pre-HoT trait system. Their original plan was to bring more elite specs but now they have these broken abominations that they need to fix. Game is having its worst times in my opinion. I miss the build variety in the old trait system. It was also not balanced, but at least I was free to choose my own build and then die.
Signets need a rework, especially in the talent department. But many professions suffer from limited utilities.
I want Trahearne as a pet. His f2 should be “Commander, a word?” and the other player is disappeared into an annoying quest.
Jokes aside I want better AI, pets that can hit enemy even if they move.
Also my dream ranger would be a longbow ranger without pets ( they wont get an AI buff it seems). But we will not see something like that as it seems.
Ranger means longbow to me too. Otherwise I just play thief.
I love sb. I honestly think the aa of it needs a range increase. Or there can be a range bonus to pp and all will start to use pp instead of sb. Richochet was a very beautiful thing. After that gone, pp is dead for many of us.
If you are cursing someone just for a bad game and your personal bad day, you are a poopy-hole. And that is certain. If it is someone’s part of the daily routine, that person should go and practice it away from the computer.
But there should be a difference between ranked and unranked. I am a casual player, so I do not want to play in “the league”. But every now and then I want to play pvp, so I log into the unranked usually (if I do not have a team). I think there are many like me.
On the other hand there are people who are not that good but insist on ranked. So there should be a minimum skill/lvl cap for the ranked, you are right. But how can you decide if someone is worthy? You ask him/her to wield the might Mjöllnir? There are several people in lvl 80 who do not have the necessary skill, who gained his/her rank by just rank farming. It will be hard to decide without resetting the previous rank system properly
Have a good mechanical setup. It really differs. Play every build and learn them. Stay away from faceroll builds, they make you dull. Know what you can kill and what you cannot. Have fun. If you do not, all of the above is meaningless.
Beginner dragonhunters tend to burst the hell out of you when you are in their traps. Instead of dodge I pop a defense (stances for warrior, block for guardian, mist form for ele…etc) and they pour all their burst. Then it is your turn.
This is only for the newbie ones.
Ele and guardian needs kit sets like engi has. that would be awesome with a little toning down.
mesmer, thief, dragonhunter, warrior can all down the enemy in 2 seconds with ease depending on the build and skill. so why argue?
I would sacrifice half of my damage for a proper stealth and better shortbow range.
I do not care about condi builds. I can run or deal with them. But be honest, they are easy to play, harder to fail. Condi mesmer? I am playing a core condi mesmer and it is easy. Really easy. I love it, and been playing condi mesmer even before all this condi changes (it was crappy though )
But condi does not need expertise. Condi does not need precision. They are only nice additions. Dire condi mesmer can hurt many professions without ease. I am all for condition builds but please try to be objective and honest.
I know I have a good team when one of us die because of a tiny mistake and nobody bugs him like hell. Even when we are losing all of the team tries their best and does their job (unlike those who argue and waste time). Then even if we start bad, we can recover. Or at least I can say that “we lost but this was a good match”. I play this game for fun, not to satisfy anyones sunken ego. But I am not a pro and never will be one. So if I can find these in low tiers or unranked, thats where I will be.
I tried everything but it still feels different. My wife also shares this problem. Do not know why. I will try switching back to 32 bit thanks a lot
Lol, not everyone wants to be a pro. I like passives. I like the randomness of some traits. They should not be removed. What should be done is that there should be a seperate system for just pvp. And even in pvp there should be a difference between ranked and unranked (systematically). Then pros can play without those skills and traits, and others can play relaxed, without destroying other people’s streaks.
Wvw-pvp-pve are three entirely seperate game modes that should not be sharing all the system together. That is why we have power creep, cc fest, condi bombs, evadecannons…
Condi= a little over the limit but still ok. Easy to play. Not impossible to counter single target ones.
AOE Condi= Nope. Not ok. Really dude? Who thought this was a good idea?
Power= Always creeping. After all this time? Always.
Sustain= Nope. Not ok. Too much.
Evades= Nope. Not ok. Too many.
So since the Tuesday patch my game has pretty much gone to kitten, I’ve had a huge fps drop and and my right click turning is unreliable as hell. .
Holy turtles I thought there was something wrong with my computer. I have the same problems since tuesday. I hope they will fix this.
If you play a character without good mobility, you are gonna have bad time.
Well op, you are an elitist. But I think you have the right to be so.
I am not a very good pvp player. Hell, I am not even above average in most professions except 2 of them. And even with them I can never be a pro pvp player, which I have no desire to be. That is why when I want to play pvp, I usually go unranked if I am not playing with my mains. But most of the people do not do that.
This game needs seperate ranking for characters a player has. You might be the perfect thief, but you might suck at warrior. This will also discourage the casual players like me to follow spvp, where we will be bored too quickly to advance properly, but be able to play with different characters in low lvls.
There are serious issues in this game, powercreep, balance, bugs etc. But those are not what you are talking about so I will not mention them in length. I know what I am saying will destroy the pvp population but I honestly do not like pvp so can not produce something better than this.
Have a nice night/day
Try scepter focus or scepter dagger for roaming. But for zergs, sadly staff is better. I am way bored with it, and if you love scepter builds, you will be too I guess.
Figure of speech, metaphor, ways of writing and climax/anti climax. Learn it. Do not try to poke the op’s ideas just because you want to bash someone.
Power creep is destroying the game. There should be something from devs, an idea or a solution a.s.a.p.
Problem is powecreep. Not warrior being dead/op. That point is just a flavor in the text. Do not try to change the direction of this argument please.
Nerf staff ele? Holy crackers I feel proud! I will instantly ditch my personal bodyguards that keep me alive and rush into the battle by my self for glor… kitten I died again.
Yep that is usually me, under heavy pressure, constantly pressing buttons and changing places, dodging ranged and melee focus. Casting fire 5 to a fully grouped zerg requires good timing and burning some utilities. So please do not ask for a nerf on this, but play it yourself. You will see the weaknesses and try to adjust yourself properly.
Josh, Dude you do not have any right to duel. I can, as a free roamer, interrupt your duel any time I want. Only reason that duellers have the chance is out of pure respect and kindness of both parties, that is all. So being kinder, and respectful will bring so much into the table, while acting like a crazed pickle would bugger things down. Hence " the attitude".
For this beautiful information you can call me atti-dude. You know, for being an informative dude.
Oh kitten . This one has such a nice attitude.
What you are saying is not balancing the game but " re-creating" the entire concept. It would not be Gw2, but a different game with different mechanics. Most of the professions would be dead and gone, and it would be a pvp game only.
But some things should be changed as you said. And really some boons and abilities should be professions-unique.
Personally I do not trust duellers due to my personal experience. Most of them ( that I have seen) are just waiting for the right moment to kill you. They usually attack the tail of the zerg when zerg passes them without attacking. But I do not care about them either. If I see an kitten dueller, I attack and bug them. If they are duelling in peace and respect, well who the hell cares, let them duel in peace. There are too many afk people, node farmers …etc So let them duel. If you do not want them to duel there, attack. It is simple. Either walk away, or attack. It does not matter. There is no right or wrong in this argument.
I used to let them fight and only do something if enemy tries to stomp my ally. But I get jumped by so called duelists so many times when it is convenient for them, or seen them attacking at the back lines of zerg when zerg ignores them out of respect, so I tend to poke them if I know the guild name. But nowadays I do not want to let duelists go with 30+ queue for Eb. If they want to due?, they should go somewhere else.
I would recommend you GS too. Stun, disengage/engage, block and maul are too good for me to pass. Maybe it is because I am very familiar with it but I can not use any other weapon with that speed and ease.
Although if you do not wish to use GS, then I can also advice you to use Sword + Warhorn. Warhorn 4 is a very beautiful skill to use procs, and WH 5 is always welcome. Although no sane person would be hit by WH 4.
I love playing longbow. There are too many reflects already. Adding another would hurt really bad. Especially if it is so reachable like the second pet ability. But I think already the reflects are too much, and should be tweaked.
Please do not add more reflects in the game. There are too many already.
Everyone still thinks that it is about money. For most of us it is not about the money. I would buy HoT and still complain about the EXACT SAME THINGS I am complaining now. Why I do not have HoT? Principle. Why I buy gems? To support Anet. Is it cheaper? No, definitely not cheaper than buying HoT. Are those " omg you are cheap so kitten" guys shutted the fudge up? Good. If you still do not understand why I do not buy HoT, please contemplate till you do.
The balance is not about paid content or free (paid for core game at its highest value btw) content. Those who argue that the HoT content should be free are delusional. But at the same time those who argue that there should be a power level difference between elites and cores are also not right. If you destroy a loved trait (thief p/p) or completely add millions of things against a single style of play (projectile), or if you still fixed the biggest issue of a profession ( pets for rangers) it is wrong. It should be fixed, that is all. The other arguments that we made are personal for many. But these are necessities. I would buy HoT, heck I would even pay a monthly fee if the game was really on the right track.
I have hopes from the new vigor of the dev team. They seem to listen the players, fix the necessary bugs and care about the professions seperately. I hope they would fix the problems “before” they think about another expansion, unlike the last mentality.
ps: Making an expansion and not fixing the bugs, correcting the problems was the biggest thing that Anet did to lose its player database. I have lost 17 friends at that moment, all left the game. Including my wife.
I think disabling a crucial trait line for elite can work well. No virtues for Dh, no marksmanship for druid…etc. It will not destroy the elites but at least there will be some difference between elite and core.
I have been constantly telling about what is wrong with HoT. If you read other post in this topic you can see the reason. I could easily pay that money, I earn it so I can spend it. But why would I? Why would I support an idea that destroys the decorum of the game? HoT is not designed, thought, planned and applied well. Not a single elite class was planned in the means of balance. Trait changes were made against the players wishes. What did people want? Guardians wanted a pew pew DH? Nope. Rangers wanted a healer? Nope. Warriors wanted the same thing with a different name? Nope.
The changes were made without having players opinion. I haven’t seen a carefully designed patch until the 19.04.2016 patch. There were (and still some remain) millions of bugs until the beginning of this month. Read profession forums. Ranger pet names, engi static discharge problems… All basic skills and things. I still get “obstructed” in a flat surface (invisible rocks and land shapes). So, before fixing all the bugs, and trying to establish a balance, they forced HoT. And it is not even limited with that.
When HoT came, many guild upgrades were destroyed, personal guilds especially. This was strike one. They took what you had and tried to sell you back. This might seem small but it damages the trust. But their biggest failure was the elites. They themselves said that the elites were just a different style of play, not an upgrade. But you can see what happened. In my opinion, they should have fired the team that created elite’s right there. Then we would have some kind of trust for Anet.
But it did not finish here, no. I rejected the idea of buying HoT, with some of my guildies, and my family. We saw that the elites were essential, and we felt betrayed. I loved my longbow ranger, my support guardian, my pistol thief. I love the archer archetype. But it was all in vain. DH was too strong so they had to put some reflects into the new professions, which hampered the ranged style of play. And also druids were already using LB, so core rangers were redundant. Pets were a lot stronger, but still their AI sucked. And their names…
I can go on for all night. I am sure there are some points that you would agree, and some you would disagree. All I wanted was a decent bug fix, and some balance changes. Instead they pushed more power creep, more careless patches and changes. I have never seen a game that releases a consecutive number of 8 patches in a night. And the next patch usually removes what this patch brings.
So this is the main reason we, me and my friends, do not buy HoT. I want a developer that listens his/her players. How long we were begging for a bloody DPS Meter? How long were we asking for an option to enter a quantity for buying and selling to vendors? How many profession bugs do we still have? What happened to core traitlines, utility cooldowns and weapon skills? All we got is a new set of traits, skills, weapons which are not balanced properly, designed poorly and changes weekly/monthly.
There is a huge trust issue between my and Anet, I can tell for my part. They do not care. They do not listen. They do not play their own game properly. Oh some will say that " If you think this game is bad, design one yourself if it is so easy" kind of thing. Well I try to do my job perfectly, and I am fairly good at it. This is their job, and they failed several times. Not for their lack of talent but for their lack of interest. How many players said the same thing about Anet not listening? Heck we even have jokes about their nerfing/buffing style according to the players whining. This is bad. Listening those only scream is a sign of bad leadership.
Anyway, as I was disconnected from WvW for the third time today, and forced to wait a queue of 25+ (and I was lucky, some people waited for way more), I still do not believe Anet. Again they forced a rule without proper preparation and again players suffered. Oh everything will be balanced in the next, or the one after that, patch I am sure. It always does in a way. But I am bored with these constant changes, patches, and stuff. But maybe they would bring us a new skin with flying bisons on it.
Ok I stand corrected. Although we constantly have 25+ que, and we wait at least 15 minutes to enter the map, it is not the biggest issue. But server/skill lags and dc’s are a huge problem. After the patch it became terrible, we are unable to play properly. I hope there will be a fix for these issues, because wvw is the only game mode we play.
And I think merging servers was not a good idea for some servers. We were already suffering from que and now it is out of control. Also we, now, are suffering from immense amount of lags and dc’s as I have said. But for some servers (as my friends inform me) these changes were wonderful. So I hope there will be a fast fix.
Core ranger. Without any decent profession mechanic, a glue eating pet companion, millions of reflects, and a for-show-only bow it is the hardest profession to master, if there is a thing as “master ranger”
Range is essential. All the gap closing skills are dangerously followed up by burst moves in many classes. Both sb and pp needs a range increase in my opinion, if we want them as viable weapons, not sidekicks.
