What are drops like at 350-400 mf?

Anet made the loot system to mostly bypass MF (champ bags / chests are not effected by MF), so even tho at 400% MF you would think you are getting 4x the loot, but its much much less.

Isn’t this getting fixed on the 15th?

wait mf is affecting loot bags / chests after the 15th?

For the PvP chests yes it will otherwise no from what I read.

You are forgetting the other way that players get these Tier 6 mats. From salvaging Level 80 armor.

The majority of Orichalcum and Elder Wood I got was from salvaging armor and weapons. Not from actually mining them from the nodes.

Feedback/Questions: The Megaserver System: World Bosses and Events

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Subscription model is bold? Backward maybe. This game made 116 million dollars last year i think.

The whole “megaserver” reeks of propaganda though. Rather than reworking tequatl and 3-headed wurm encounters in such a way to make them puggable or organised groups able to access the same encounter at the same time. The heart of the dynamic events system is being ripped out.

The most important events will be static, repetitive and heavily regimented. Rates that we do events will be slowed down and player choice severely limited.

The dynamic events system was one of the primary appeals of the game for me.

There are still plenty of dynamic events in the game. I would not necessarily call the world bosses the core of dynamic events. In addition to that even if they were on a schedule you likely would not notice a difference as you enter/leave zones at varying times. Thus you would not notice that a boss comes around ever 1-2 hours.

Read the lore – this is where the name Guild Wars came from

why are you guys giving this stupid argument every time.

what you wrote doesn’t mean this game can’t or is not allowed to have actual guild pvp. get lost already.

It is not a argument it is a fact. People ask “it is Guild Wars after all” the poster that post that are simply saying this is why it was named Guild Wars not for a playstyle.

If sPvP ever does get a healthy stable population they may create GvG.

Sam…Sam…we love you Sam. The thing is, it’s not really that complicated to grasp. The thing is that most of us don’t want it. The thing is it hurts more than it helps on a game wide issue. The thing is the implementation is actually breaking simple features (like the map!).

Well, that’s actually three things. Most of us beta tested the game already. We don’t want to again. We had to wait for months post launch to get the guesting service that was a selling point. So we could have control over who we play with instead of an algorithm deciding for us.

These are the things.

Did you want the guesting feature so you can play with your friends or so that you could be separated from some of them while you go join some others.

Do you not still have control by being able to party with them then join in their map?

The maps that it is being pushed too will likely be released later when you do roll it out for a map please be sure to include it in the patch notes so that those of us who would like to give feedback can test it out for ourselves and give feedback.

When they implement the schedule it will likely be implemented regardless if the map the world boss is one on the mega-server system or not. The systems are related but not dependent on each other.

For instance, Orichalcum and Ancient nodes and Rich nodes can only be harvested once a day per character

It is once per day per character per map shard.

In regards to the World Boss schedule. I actually like the schedule. I can not schedule when I do the world bosses. I will likely do the ones I like more frequently now as I can schedule them in my day. Not only that there is a boss every 15 minutes. That is about how long each boss should take(not necessarily does). That is how sometimes people were able to get in more bosses then with the schedule system. When in average it will likely be about the same.

I was disappointed to see the district type system was not in the blog post or the ability to choose your map shard by number. There are valid situations that I think that it would be useful. You could tweak the API to show the map then the instance of the map number that a event is running on. Then allow people to choose the instance of the map that they are running on via a drop-down menu.

Working on the wiki is a bit more difficult as we can not check if the event is running and go there to get info on it and complete it.

This would also give us another option for joining a group on a map in the case that the algorithm does not put us in the right shard that we wanted to be in to join our group. Just like we did in Guild Wars 1. One shard was too populated or not right for us. Simple message go to District X.

The temple events are another matter. Having the system in place would allow us to do temple runs a lot easier.

This will also allow players to find out when a guild has started up the instance of a world boss that they can join(if they can get onto the map).

This would make the Dungeon runners happy. However as it is just a small series of events I don’t see a problem with it anyways.

Please allow us to choose what shard we are put on but default to the algorithm so we don’t have to think about it. Maybe put a drop-down on the way-point selection screen where it asks us if the cost is OK or if we want to leave the map.

Destroys RP community, destroys server communities, the champ train in Queensdale (aka the most likely starter zone for new people) will be 10x larger and probably 100x more antagonistic to people not doing the right order, puts in an unneeded layer of complication to organizing server events, can’t use overflows to get your entire guild into one map to do an organized boss run, etc.

It will still exist similar to how it did in Guild Wars 1. The System takes your Home world into account. The system takes your guild into account. If done correctly you may not notice much of a difference except in less populated areas. Tarnished Coast the NA RP server is normally maxed out on a lot of their maps anyways. So it is unlikely there will be much of a change for them. Sure you will get some bad eggs now and then. But you get some bad eggs now.

The problem is that it may be more difficult for NEW roleplayers who don’t know that TC is the unofficial RP server: they can’t then decide to guest over to TC to roleplay. They’d have to transfer. (As far as I understand how this will work.) Not only that, but scattering roleplayers makes it difficult for walk-up roleplay outside your guild, which is how a lot of roleplay happens, how you meet new guilds, etc.

They don’t have to transfer they just have to join a RP guild. There were plenty of those in Guild Wars 1.

Perhaps they can add add a play-style check-box option to allow you to choose what play-styles you like. Then the system would take those into account.

Just bring back the district system from GW1. If we are running something like Guild missions or temples let us be able to choose an empty district so we aren’t tripping over random people.

Agreed. This may be exactly what they do. This would also solve a lot of complaints about being put in the wrong instance of the map. The system the way it is going now allows for this to be put in place. The system choosing you will just make it easier for you not to have to do it on a regular basis.

Only problem is that TTS is actually 12 (maybe 13 now?) different guilds. Sure we all have the same tag, but we belong to different tts guilds. How are they going to work?

Perhaps the system takes into account what Guilds you are in not nessesarly what guild you are representing. I hope this is the case.

What about things like “today at 7 PM, there will be an event on [Server], everyone is invited!”

How can such things even happen anymore with megaservers?

They just need to implement districts like they did in Guild Wars 1. This would solve that problem.

They fixed the major problem with the overflow system not working well at launch so I think that this actually can work.

I shall see when the system is fully implemented and shall see what questions will be answered over the next few days.

Edge of the Mists FAQ

in WvW

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

I guess this means that drastic changes to WvW including by not limited to reducing the number of maps are not competently off the table. That has potential of fixing population balances. As there is less reason not to do so now that queues are getting “fixed”.

Would it not be a better idea for the Edge of the Mists map to not be tied to the WvW matchups? If one server is dominating their matchup they will be more inclined to visit the Edge of the Mists, however there probably won’t be many enemies for them to fight.

An alternative would be for the overflow maps to fill up with players from all servers. Green servers would be on the green team, blue ones on the blue, etc. I think there would be a higher chance for players to find good amounts of action this way and a lower chance for one side to be completely dominating.

I realize this is hardly a question for a FAQ and more like a suggestion, but I couldn’t resist :P

This option is very much on the table, but we want to see how the map plays before we make that final decision. This is just one part of why we are doing this large-scale test at this stage in development. We want to be able to make these decisions based on feedback from people playing in the map and we want to be able to quickly iterate based on that feedback.

I could see some benefits including future proofing and freedom of development on the structure of WvW to at least have a method in place to as lest be able to do this type of thing in the future. Including switching to more of a faction based system as apposed to a server based system. It also would solve the population problem on the overflow.

New Borderland Map coming

in WvW

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

The thing that I find interesting about this is a few things.

2) Some of the things we are building into this map are the first step towards eventually making headway on the server imbalance issues. We have some ideas that we are going to implement, but the first step is eliminating the queue. We’ve seen, regularly, that when we make a major change to WvW, people flood the game type and get stuck in queues. This will allow them to at least experience some of WvW when those changes occur.

I hope that explains it.

To resolve imbalance issues queues may need to be created more frequently. This may be done in many ways possibly even including removing some maps or set of maps all together. Or other types of major changes that will effect queues. They are setting up infrastructure to where even while queued someone can still have fun in WvW. They are also setting up a infrastructure so that test can be run with humans on a large scale.

Hi,

- Spinning metal could disappear earlier. They really feel like they last for 2 years. If a teammates is killed by one of them, he can’t get up, and we can’t rez him for a long part of the fight.
- Remove damage off the 5-knockbacks attack. The knockbacks are powerful enough w/o dmg and we have to be careful not to be in a position that would let this attack thrown us to electric fields.
- Have the boss attack living people as a priority, not throwing spinning metal to downed people. (he could also avoid throwing spinning metal to the platforms that we use to escape electric fields)

Not saying they should implement these however more appropriate tweaks would be the following:

1.) They do last a while I would agree slightly increase the despawn time would be nice however I duno if it is necessary as I think it is by design to have it be there for a long time. My problem with it that it adds tormet on top of cripal and bleeding. Removal of tormet would be nice.

2.) This is by design. It is a punishment for not dragging the halo within 30 ticks(Max Buff limit). A proper tweak would be to increase the max buff limit to 45 or 60.

3.) This is part of the argo table. Use it to your advantage.

It is not more filters that we have a problem with.

Filter out specific paths. This is a good idea
Filter out story vs exploreable. Please

What we do have a problem with is arbitrary filters put in by players. A level 80 stats wise is not likely to be better off then the maximum level for the dungeon in the same type of gear. So there is no need for that filter other then to discriminate. Who knows maybe a level 35 wants to join to level his alt he may have 40 other level 80’s and be better at the dungeon then you. Achievement points is arbitrary also(personally if they start becoming how people discriminate i would rather them not be in the game). After all this could be a second account of someone that has more achievement points then you.

If people join a group designed as a speedrun due to them not listening. State why you kick then. Kick them. The system will eventually punish them for using the tool wrong.

Actually from what the dev’s said if some one joins and didn’t read the description it sounds like I’m supposed to report them for trolling/griefing/etc. But I’m not a jerk and I don’t do that. I ask if they have an 80, say sorry, etc. and I still get rude comments coming my way. No matter what I say people are going to get upset when I boot them. I really don’t like that. I don’t want to give some one the feeling that they were rejected. The best way that I can think of that would prevent all of that would be for them to just not to see my party due to filters in the first place.

I posed the question earlier that if there were filters, but the max settings on them were relatively low if that would be ok. Some people didn’t seem to be ok with even that. For some reason some players are determined to join parties that don’t want them… which is what I don’t understand. I do spend some of my time helping other players, but it’s a pain and I gotta mess around kicking, re-listing, reposing in the LFG tool, etc… it’s far more than I should have to when I don’t feel like helping undgeared/sub 80’s/people in full clerics gear/etc.

It really is a cost vs benefit problem there.

I don’t care if the speedruners run their groups. I don’t care if they use the LFG tool. I understand the frustration it must be to have to go though kicks and re-listing all the time. However… There are problems with putting the filters in place.

1.) They will get abused. Believe it or not I am not talking about people who the filters would be designed for I am talking about the noobs. The players that want to be carried.

2. )The development cost involved for such a small subset of players is too high in my opinion.

3.) It encourages the elitist only mentality (not saying that you are one).

The tool is designed to get you in and out as fast as possible. It was just released people are likely using it like crazy. A TON of players don’t want to create parties for fear that they will be ridiculed for not knowing the path. So instead the LFG is empty most of the time. In time I think it will become more like how GW1 LFG system was. I fear not how it was before the Guild Wars 2 was released. Only speed runs and me sitting there for a hour wanting to complete my first successful run.

Part of the reason why I am so jaded about elitist only is due to the fact in Guild Wars 1 I wanted to complete some of the dungeons. I never finished Underworld. I never finished most of the other dungeons either. It was expected of me to know the paths. To know the runs but I did not as I joined rather late. Never really got a chance until I joined the guild I am currently in. I tried creating a group. Waited for a hour. Nothing. Tried to join some speed runs just to finish the dungeon. I was honest and up front said I had no clue what i was doing. I was told to go away create my own group(this was after sitting around for a hour waiting for a group I just created).

That is the problem I have with most elitists. Is that they are so burned out from random pugs not willing to learn and listen. That they are not willing to take a chance on those that are.

But the group with the “elitists” won’t accept them. They’ll just get booted. I joined an Arah group a couple days ago advertising 4k AP minimum (im like 3960 so I thought screw it why not) and then some guy with like 1.5k AP comes in. Obviously he was booted.

Again, if you have groups saying something like “lf 3m zerkers” and some randoms come along, they’ll either get booted, the group will disband or the randoms will boot the party creator which is just griefing. Make it possible to set some standards and this won’t happen, not everybody wants to play with “play how you want” bads running cleric gear, and those bads don’t want to run with players using good builds.

So they get kicked eventually they will learn to read the advertisement. This system is similar how it worked in Guild Wars 1. It worked well there it will work well here too.

Having groups form with properly geared players and then low levels, badly geared players and non-(language) speaking players does not support community building at all. All it does is create resentment and put people off dungeoning after having a bad experience with it. On the other hand, if you are able to outline some requirements to your groups, you can group with people you are interested in actually playing with.

All you guys want is to be separate from the “elitists”, which is fine. It’s just there’s currently no way to do this within the LFG system as it currently is.

No it is not that we want to be separated from elitists. It is we don’t want to turn the LFG tool into something that encourages that attitude.

I have no problem with non-language speaking players. Due to the point of the tool is to get players together and communicate a filter(Not restriction) of that just makes sense.

I do have a problem with the player determining what is considered badly geared or what is low level and letting the player put in those arbitrary limits into the tool. If it is the right gear for the dungeon or the right level for the dungeon they should be allowed to play in any group that will accept them.

As is the vast majority of posts don’t have X is required in their text… so why do you think that more people would all of a sudden start wanting to require X?

If the tools that the OP is asking for are added then it would be ArenaNet encouraging this type of play. This is what I have agents those features added. If they add the features it would be the equivalent of ArenaNet saying. “Yes we want only level 80’s to run though this dungeon even though the actual level requirement is much lower.” When I can guarantee you that is not how the game is designed to be played. It is designed for that level 80 to run those lower levels around for the ascended materials. To build a community of cooperation and helpfulness.

It is a small vocal majority of the player-base that wants these requirements. They are not needed. If they want to make those type of groups. Type it into the notes. Kick out the non-conformers.

Anzenketh,
The problem is that people don’t bloody read the descripntion of the post. When i put a specific requirements in my post i expect of people 2 things:
1st to read what is written
2nd to do what is wanted from the poster
When neither of those 2 things are not met then why are people joining the group???
It’s actually quite simple to follow the text.

I can think of a few reasons reasons.

1.) They can’t read. (kick them)
2.) They don’t care and are just going to grief you (kick them)
3.) They were hoping you would accept them anyways(add a communication feature that someone wanting to join a party can wispier the party leader to ask if he fits the requirements. ).

But ultimately what it comes down too. The tool was not designed to fulfill the requirements of a small subset of players that like to min/max. If you want to do that scheduled runs/guild runs would be best.

Adding more restriction features would hurt the tool. Too many people would use the feature just because it is there.

Too much of this level will split the playerbase.

Put your requirements in the description. Politely Kick the non-conformers simple as that. If a player continues to try to join your group or any group without reading they will eventually be punished by the system.

If you are unwilling to do the above and want to guarantee that you only get groups that fit your mold. Use a guild or schedule it with the community that is like-minded to you.

So this is what groups do anyways it just wastes their time. If they are going to kick “non conformers”/not-bads from their group why not save everyone the misery and just let people add in requirements if they want them. If you dont like running with experienced people make your own ad saying anyone is welcome and i guarantee you will get a group in a couple of seconds

I do and have made my own and Also I respect the posts that say Level 80 only. When my alt (my main is 80) is running it. But who is to say that the person with only 900 Achievement points and is a level 80 does not meet your requirements. The only way that you will know this is to take him.

I understand your concern about your time wasted. But if they do add requirements system in place there are a lot of players that do not need or are really looking for “Min/Max” runs will start using the feature. Why… because it is there.

More of what I am saying is there is no need for filter system by Achievement posts or level requirements (besides that what is already in place). The description field should suffice. I understand your frustration. But putting those features in place would go against the design of the tool.

I really don’t see why different kind of groups can’t use the LFG tool. Isn’t that elitism in itself? So people complain about “elitist” groups, but then they want those groups to not use the LFG tool?

Yeah, this.

I’m baffled by some of the views expressed here, considering that the request is a rational one. The LFG tool is for everyone, to find groups to do any sort of content that allows it.

It could be implemented something like this; You want to speedclear? Check that box and find groups running the dungeon that way. Don’t want to? Leave it blank and join regular parties. Everyone wins.

Of course, the dialogue on this forums is always so polarized (casuals vs hardcore), but I find a lot of the PUG dungeon community is somewhere in between. Most of us do want to get in and out as quickly as possible, but we won’t get our panties in a bunch if things go wrong (within reason of course). This seems to be reflected in the listings on gw2lfg as well, relatively few groups identify any sort of prerequisites for joining. There’s lots of opportunities for newbies to learn the ropes, as well as room for more experienced players to have fun, smooth and efficient runs.

I have no problem with “elitist” groups trying to form groups using the LFG tool. However there is no need nor should ArenaNet encourage it by giving this small subset of players the tools to facilitate it. ArenaNet putting in those filters indeed does encourage the “No Noobs” mindset. When the tool is designed FOR noobs as most noobs don’t have a guild that runs it or friends to play with.

The problem with the system encouraging it is that more and more players will do it as they want a easy ride. The tool is designed to get you in and out of the tool as quick as possible. I did this for story mode today. I logged in. Joined a group a player locked it into explorer mode. We disbanded then reformed this time someone selected story mode. The entire process was done faster then it took for me to go from Lions arch all the way to AC running with my character. I call that working as designed.

I think that the reason why they did not instance it into a area was a design decision to allow random people to experience it. Otherwise I likely would have never experienced the content.

Now that more and more servers are beating the event more and more often. Less and less players are complaining.

I am not sure if more servers are beating it or organized groups moving around to do it. I would have to say that probably 80% of the population has not beaten Teq. Just a guess. The organized groups on SoR moved to an overflow to avoid AFKers this evening. I tried to get in but could not since it was full. It is not fun waiting and waiting. The fight is pretty straightforward, however, there are so many roadblock on trying to beat it that it makes it not fun and just plain frustrating.

The overflow take-downs likely are organized groups. However…… There are other servers like mine that have learned the strategy and are implementing it with a bit of success. The strategy is not hard. I don’t even consider it needs any voice coms to beat. It just needs some organization before the event. (Just to setup the turret groups as they are so vital) and players learning the strategy.

[Survey] How do you feel about Tequatl?

“How likely are you to repeat kill him?”
None of those choices matched what I would say which is, I wouldn’t do it again because it is content I have completed. I did it, its done, and now its on to the next thing.

Well the content is the Meta\title, I would assume after you’ve gotten it, there’s no other reason to go back, right?

For fun is one reason why I would go back. I really enjoyed the excitement of my first win. But then…. I don’t know how I will feel the second time around.

Sadly if you want to join the event and not get in overflow. At the moment you need to join the map on your home server right after the event ends. Or you will need to get on our servers voice com and request a party invite then use the join in feature.

Dragonite Orr in % chests.

I am so glad that they added Dragonite ore in the %75 %50 %25 chests. This allows those of us who do it for the ascended mats make a loss not a complete waste of our time. I think that one rare per percent was also put in there players would not complain so much about failure.

The rewards for failure and especially win need to be buffed a bit. Perhaps a guaranteed exotic and a rare for the end chest.

What would you like to see(be realistic).

Hopefully never.
Go kill some boars or play SAB.

^^Nice community your cultivating there, arenanet

Some people want hard content. And it’s frustrating to them when people want to take it away.

Some people want casual content. And it’s frustrating to them when people are actually taking it away.

There is tons of casual content for casuals to play. Now we have difficult content for more serious players which is still available to casuals if they are willing to listen to instructions, modify their builds, spend 1 silver on a WP when dead, and spend a few more silver for some food buffs.

I don’t think there will be a nerf. Maybe some tweaking but nothing substantial.

And this is exactly what I like about the way that ArenaNet did their “Raid” style even. I know some players would like it instanced but personally I don’t. Soon it will die off on some servers(It already has) and those servers can go guest over to those servers to do their RAID. The few randoms that are there would be thankful and likely willing to listen. Especially after this two weeks are over.

Otherwise I would likely truely be locked out of the content as I am not in a serious guild of any sort. Also vary few players are.

As for the argument “some day, people will disappear from the event”. And it not fixing the core problem. That depends if you find that as a problem. It could be thought of as a feature so each server can have their “Boss slaying” guild that does it in raid style. But yet still allow randoms to join and get to participate in the experience.

I would in your case schedule a server event with your server community. If you don’t know what your server community is or where it is located on the interwebs contact some prevalent players in WvW.

Alternatively you could try to find out when one of your really large guilds(100+ players on) are going to raid it. If you are in a really large guild schedule one for yourself with your guild leader.

Other then that you can guest on other servers.

Those restriction features are not in by design. If you don’t like the fact that they joined Vote to kick them for not reading.

If you want something that specific and demand something only that specific schedule it with your guild. LFG tool is for randoms.

Why the OP’s Requests will likely not be implemented. Those being left our is a design decision.

How will the OP’s request conform with that philosophy to get in and out as fast as possible.

Overflows don’t work that way. They are not tied to a server.

(Guild Wars 2) Permanent Trial Period?

lol I think what he is suggesting is they should create a trial account like they can make 1 character which can level up to a max lvl of 5 or 10 to get more people into the game because im sure most of you have noticed beginner zones are empty.. this way people can at the very least try the game

Starcraft 2 did this and they got so much more players because of it.. it’ll leave testers longing for more

Or he could be saying that he wants a 14 day trial or something of the sort that is always available.

Some LAG and disconnect not Anets fault

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

I thought I would just mention this. I have a duel band router at home. One that does Wireless G and one that does Wireless N.

Yesterday I was doing Taquatal and I was noticing lots of heavy lag. Normally I do not have this problem. Normally things work just fine. Yesterday when I played it It worked just fine.

Nowadays everyone has wireless and it is everywhere. Using 802.11g there are only 3 usable channels and if you get too many people using the same channel it gets rather crowded. This is especially true in Apartment complexes as people want to use their laptops so they install a wireless router. And they are everywhere. With my apartment alone I can see at least 5-10 wireless networks. 2-3 of them are high strength. Now with 802.11g things get rather crowded as that is what most everyone is on. When I am on my 802.11g network I notice high lag and at times disconnects.

Mostly however due to I know it is crowded I work on my 802.11n network as I know this is not . For a few reasons. Not many people have duel band routers(routers that broadcast 802.11g and 802.11n on two separate antennas and have different SSID). This is notable as only duel band routers allow your 802.11n compatible computers to use the full strength of the wireless without your 802.11g(lots of ipod touches/wireless phones) dragging it down to the crowded 802.11g network. That and a lot of people still have old computers that only come with 802.11g.

So if you submitted a ticket to ArenaNet and they have said the issue is not on their end. Try plugging in your computer directly to the router though a wire. If you don’t have a problem anymore your wireless in your area is too crowded.

I would like it if I could whisper or somehow communicate with the prospective party I am about to join before I join so I don’t get hit with the rate limit.

Why fractals are the way they are is explained in why they may have just done a autojoin is also explained in:
http://youtu.be/YfbP6AQq1Kc

Basically to summarize. Fractals between 20-39 do not scale too much. They do autojoin because they want you in and out of the tool as fast as possible. There is already systems in place to prevent some griefing. However…. I do agree that it should allow the party to accept and decline using the existing rules for joining a party from a /join.
