Proof of Heroics: Soulbound, really?

So I’ve been off for a while due to the holiday season and the ramp-up to it, and now I find that the 200+ Proof of Heroics I’ve been acquiring in wvwvw are now not spendable from the bank? My wvw character is maxed out, and I was debating on which character to spend them on when I had to go away. Now I find that the hours I spent grinding in wvw are completely wasted for my other characters.

Tell me again why I’m wasting my time on this game? Every change results in another waste of time. First you steal hundreds of hours of playtime away from me in the form of changing excess hero points (over 400 on my main) into useless shards and give me half of my elite specialization, but you again steal hours of playtime by restricting my Proof of Heroics to the point of not being able to spend them from the bank?

Seriously, why am I playing this game any more?

Anet, like most MMOs, lies to get people to play by saying things like Play Your Way but what they really mean is; Play Our Way And Pretend We Don’t Lie While We Take Your Cash And Valuable Time.

Is it possible to get past ruby in soloq?

The answer to the question is no, you can’t pas ruby with solo queue, I’ve tried, got to 8 pips, after that I had to team up, I made it to 15 pips, after that I lost I won, now I’m at 12 pips again…. There are out hungry guilds who will eat you up while soloing… and there is a meta team already… I don’t want to say it, because everybody will run that, it is so effective… and yes, this is sad, solo queue should be for solo people only! This is messed up!

It is DEFINETLY possible. Ive done it. It just takes you taking charge of the flow of the match.

Uh, baloney. Taking charge is dependent on others actually doing what is necessary for the map.

Doesn’t happen in tourney often if at all.

Played it last night after the latest patch and had absolutely ZERO problems connecting. Just went straight into the Wintersday level as expected, and not once reverted to loading DV after clicking.

One of these days, Anet is going to do this to a decent lawyer and then we will have a class action lawsuit against a company that puts almost all of its game on auto-pilot during seasonal events.

Just like other seasonal events that don’t work, Anet isn’t looking, isn’t caring and ins’t answering yet again.

So how are we to get an achievement if we can’t enter?

Anet?

Tried everyday since the beginning of the event.

Players get tired of game companies who refuse to listen.

A message from the World vs World Team:

Before the holiday season is fully upon us we wanted to give you all a sneak peek of some changes that are coming to WvW. Before we jump into the changes, we just want to make it very clear that the changes you’ll read about below are not a part of the big World vs World update that we’ve previously mentioned. This update is the first of what we hope are more regular updates to the existing core of World vs. World. We are looking forward to sharing the details of the bigger World vs World project with you in the future, but we’re not quite ready yet.

And now for that sneak peek:

  • Objectives upgrades will no longer be automatic based on time. They will upgrade based on dolyaks that reach them. Smaller groups can now prevent an objective from upgrading by preventing dolyaks from reaching that objective.
  • Supply cost for all catapults are being reduced by ten supply. The layout of the Desert Borderlands map has increased the number of catapults required to take some objectives. We agree with your feedback that also increasing the cost of catapults pushed the balance too far towards defense so we are tuning that more towards offense.
  • Points per kill will be turned on and kept on. This is to more directly recognize the contribution that fighting other players adds to the success of the world.
  • The number of players who can rally off a single kill has been reduced from five to one. Players will also no longer be able to revive defeated players while in combat. You still will be able to revive downed players while in combat. Both of these changes are designed to help fights resolve and to give smaller, more skilled groups a better chance against larger groups.

Please let us know what you think of these changes. We’re going to hold off on picking a release date until we have a chance to review your feedback, but we’d like to target early 2016. So please add your feedback about these proposals to this thread.

We also wanted to express our thanks to Reyana and the commanders she has been talking with in her World vs World Commander Interview series. Reyana is a dedicated member of the WvW community and a WvW streamer. She has brought together a diverse group of community leaders to constructively share different perspectives on how they play with their guilds, and our team has taken a lot of the commanders’ feedback to heart. If any of the “changes” are about taking away individual servers like you did with the megaserver, you will be dooming WvW to ETOM mediocrity.

We have begged for better changes and allowing all worlds to fight one another no matter how many worlds that “equals” – could be five versus one.

What could make a huge difference is the fact that health points before death are far too little to show any skill even in most 1v1 fights.

Raise the life of all players and pets and watch skills start to shine.

Yes, ANet could permanently leave open T1 and T2 servers and make it so that it doesn’t cost as much to jump around for those that want to do that. I have had server loyalty for a long time to a T7-ish NA server (Kaineng). Yes, we did WvW, and no we weren’t as good as say TC (T2 server) is, but it was fun.

The person that got me to play GW2, didn’t want me to play WvW on my first character, but once I was introduced to it, I was hooked negating most of personal story until HoT came out and wanted the mastery points from personal story.

WvW is the one place in the game that I loved on Kaineng running around solo capping camps and testing my skills out on solo capping towers, though almost always I’d see at least one enemy to fight and most times, yes I lost… That was back in the days of Fortified and Strength stacks (hated those, but miss them now).

WvW sucks too though, I mean I want to play with my friends on FA, SoS, TC, Kaineng, GoM, and DB, but EotM doesn’t do it. If we are in a party, TC is almost always green color that week, so I go to EotM and be on green side while my other friends are on their servers color side. You so can’t play EotM with friends like that. So my question is why EotM exists if it was to make it so that servers could play together with each other while still having server matters aspect.

In the end though, those WvW buffs that all players on that server get no matter if they play WvW or not, shouldn’t be getting those buffs if you don’t play WvW. and having a way we can play with our friends on other servers, would be nice no matter what color the server we on is that week. Yet, to make a megaserver WvW, I can see where that would be a major turn off for some cause some guilds could fill EB queue just by themselves on T1 and T2 servers. So megaserver would be the same way while guilds that focus on lower tier servers may not even have enough in their instance to help take their own BLs let alone the EB area.

Why is EOTM like it is and not allowing us to “guest” like we did to get our bosses done back in the day?

All tiers should be able to EOTM with each other, which is where the megaserver is and should stay.

I don’t know the answer for your post but it’s a valid point. If EOTM was supposed to be an all inclusive mode, then they missed the mark by quite a bit.

WvW stands alone and should stay as it is, unless they want to roll back the maps and give us back the maps that have real paths and not constant dead ends and lousy markings.

I moved off Fort Aspenwood becuase there was no WvW to be had for months after the first season win.

Thereafter, I was looking for a permanent community, maybe you didn’t read my posting all the way through, but that’s what many of us were searching from from the beginning.

Because we didn’t find it permanently, because the ebb and flow of players weren’t “set” or “core”, each of those servers was unstable. Unstable leaders, unstable players and few pugs who fill in for the rest of the times when people are asleep in NA time zone, that’s the time I try to be on most, when I am needed most.

If I had started on Yak’s Bend, I would never have moved.

But I started out on Ft. Aspenwood and only during the first season was there any level of cohesion or camaraderie. After any server implodes like several have, it’s not fun especially if there isn’t a core to hold them over until things “shake out” again.

Apparently you don’t know our history. We lost forever. Never won a tournament. But I won on three different servers, so I saw what worked and what lost. YB had everything and now, when they are the most mature of servers, they know what works and what does not, even with the thin times we push through and grumble like anyone else.

I am sorry you think my moving is an issue, but I think logically that you aren’t happy with your server or the position it sits are and are a bit jealous that some of us had the courage and the will to try to find what, especially in gaming, is the hardest thing of all to find and keep – which is the company of those you can trust even if you don’t always agree.

That’s all well and good for the chosen few that sit in the upper echelons of the leaderboard. What about the rest of us?

What about the people that log in to WvW and are lucky to see five enemies all day?

What about their inability to transfer to a higher pop WvW server? What about what happens to people when their server empties out for the week because of tier population imbalances?

What about the fact that removing servers does not dismantle communities. Communities choosing to dismantle themselves does

If you need the game to tell you who is on your team, then your team isn’t as strong as you thought it was.

However, more than half of all servers don’t have the ability to fight competitive WvW matches, and exhorbitant server transfer fees shouldn’t be a permanent requirement for guilds to reorganize in to and out of larger armies.

It’s easy to forget how horrible WvW is as a game mode when you’re not at the top. This is unlike any other part of the game. Even in complete noob tier pvp you are still getting good matches. Even in completely screwed PvE maps you still have events adjusted to solo.

When there isn’t a population that is roughly equivalent for all teams involved there is no WvW and the current server model does not support, and can not support enough teams to make that happen due to the effect of server stacking and basic human desire to win

Do you really think that Yak’s Bend didn’t and doesn’t recruit?

Other servers have as many people as the top three, and if they do not, that’s an issue that is of importance to know from Anet, otherwise it’s a matter of getting your own server interested enough to play.

YB is still open the last time I saw… You want real fights? Think you are good? Not a troll who will leave?

YB was in the middle. We aren’t JQ, BG nor TC, but we keep beating all of them and landed on top because of exactly what I said before – Community and a fierce loyalty to the server, not the people on it who do or do not play WvW or even care that it exists.

If you aren’t happy on your server, recruit.

If you believe your server actually has fewer players than the top ten, let’s say, _that’s a serious issue that does need to be addressed rather than ignored _ – because that would make the difference in players and would have a direct impact on the percentage of active WvW players,.

If my server is larger than yours by total players, yes, dog gone it, we need to know if that is true because if it is, that’s the issue, not that people aren’t playing WvW and “have left it for HoT” which is a crock for some, true for many and so not true for the WvW’er who is dedicated and loyal to the server we fight to hard to honor.

The game is the same for all players, we all have the same maps, but we might not have all the same number of players on our servers.

If YB can ‘best’ two of the largest servers; being constantly double teamed. If we can do it so can others. I know it’s true because I have been on Henge of Denravi and it wasn’t big in comparison to FA, YB, BG, and JQ… I have seen “smaller” servers do just as well with organized forces and commanders who know what the heck they are doing.

Roamers matter – we make up a large percentage of the points that are made on “off” times when others are asleep.

One person can matter in WvW…

Can’t say the same about the other game modes, if one player isn’t there, even upper fractals are doable with just one and even two players not really participating, we all know it.

WvW is different.

Please keep it different.

Oh and “exhorbitant” transfer fees?

Hmmm… how much in coffee, cigarettes and other crap are some of you spending on?

I have moved four times. I paid all four times and was glad to do so to find a more cooperative and better fighting environment.

Dear Fellow Players:

WvW more than anything else in any other game, console, PC or real world, is a loyalty endeavor.

For the first eight months of the game I didn’t understand the “Portals” that took one into WvW. I saw them but didn’t really pay too much attention because I was used to games being very PvP heavy or dungeon heavy, that being where the rewards were to be had.

PvP just became my world. I played it almost exclusively, far more than I ever went into the Living World. Took me at least a year to do a single world completion I was so locked into a PvP world.

August 2012 the game was released, I was one of thousands of players who had early access, and I played so much PvP, I pretty much thought it was the best part of Guild Wars 2.

Then one day, they said “tournament” and Fort Aspenwood before the megaserver, was very much abuzz about the tournament coming up.

I started asking questions about four weeks before the tournament started and started dipping my toes, fingers, head and hands into WvW.

18th of October to the 6th of December, 2013

The frenzy that was WvW was fun.

Why? Because of map calls.

Because of banter about WvW in Lion’s Arch when the megaserver didn’t exist.

Because of the spies who taunted us in Lion’s Arch before the megaserver

Pugs. That’s how Ft. Aspenwood win that first season in Silver.

Every one of us who knew the maps, who knew the drill, would make map calls on every single map, not just Lion’s Arch, and just as any loyal people will, they rallied to the defense of their server.

Hard fought against the likes of Yak’s Bend and Stormbluff Isle as well as others, the hot and heavy fighting became a passion for many players who saw, not just a “reward” at the end of the season, but also the growth of a community of real players who could and would, for better or worse, get to know one another on the way to a victory or a loss at the end of the season.

Ft. Aspenwood won. But after it won, it fell apart, hard.

Many of us, disenchanted with leaders leaving, guild dissolving and moving to other servers to join friends, scattered to the four winds, so to speak, and looked forward to the next tournament.

I went on to the Henge of Denravi, and again pugs made up most of those who won the tournament. It was fun but stressful for many.

Again not many stayed after the season, but the servers were shaking out and moving around, even some who had been very successful had sunk to strange depths.

After Henge, I moved a couple more times looking for that “community” that had been so important in so many weeks of winning on any WvW server.

So I hit the forums and started reading about Yak’s Bend.

The leaders seemed connected to one another, communicative and fiercely loyal, not unlike many servers, but there was a tone and a determination about Yak’s Bend that seemed different.

So after being on two winners for two tournaments so far, I moved to Yak’s Bend.

September 12, 2014 and continuing through October 10, 2014.

The hardest fight I’ve ever seen for a win was pulled out by Yak’s Bend.

Did some leave after we won that last WvW season that Anet allowed us to have? You BET!

Did the good one’s leave?

No.

That was the difference.

Trolls left.

Disgruntled left.

Spies left.

But the core was only getting stronger.

The move from Silver to Gold was a fight against not only being double-teamed constantly, it was also a constant fight against siege trolls and more , all of whom were determined to see us lose by any means possible.

Fast forward to now – we’re still being double teamed only this time in Gold and by two servers who freely walk amongst each other’s keeps without a shot being fired.

The kind of loyalty I see on Yak’s Bend, the fierce determination we have as Yak’s would be gone in New York Minute if the servers were removed.

Servers matter.

Server loyalty is something many of us have waited for, for years. A specific place to call “home” even if we don’t have even a hovel to decorate in any game mode, it’s our home.

I’ve heard rumor after rumor after rumor that WvW will be disassembled and the servers will go away.

If you want WvW to become the worst game mode of all, by all means remove the servers.

If I can’t call others to my cause, my server and my game suffers, the megaserver is a mistake that should never have been made as far as WvW is concerned, we needed our cities intact and secure, what we have now is nothing like the WvW of old where a map call could and would excite the new and the old players alike to a rally point when things were getting tight and tough.

WvW has been marred by taking our alpine maps.

WvW has been marred further by not allowing us tournaments that get better with time, not completely disappear.

WvW is the real end game of Guild Wars 2.

WvW can become better, but not if you remove our servers, never if you remove our servers.

Don’t force us into more EOTM, which we begged you not to do to us before the maps you gave us, which are far too close to EOTM and untenable for roamers.

If you want WvW to become better, give us more life for each person, *_a boatload more._

If players can’t " one " to " three shot " one dead, it’s going to be up to skill to “win”. Give us a chance for skill to be evident, not impossible.

Such a Waste

WvW used to be lucrative enough to support the siege and foods necessary against a determined foe.

What we have now is a joke.

I will be a Druid regardless of how little you allow us to gain any loot for our healing, mitigation, boon stacking and reviving/rezzing.

Anet stated that no changes will be looked at for “balance” for at least 8 weeks.

Don’t let this and the other issues we know exist for Druid die like they have so many times for a straight Ranger.

Bristleback Nerf

Looks like no one else has mentioned yet the nerf to Bristleback in the form of Health/Vitality. It was labeled a bug, but regardless of how they wish to name what they changed, it effectively nerfs the tankability of the Bristleback by reducing the health bar to be the equivalent of a canine or feline. Not trolling, but you might benefit from knowing this before realizing your bristleback, which prior to the change rarely died is suddenly dead or on the fringe thereof.

Explains why I am dying more.

I never see information that is needed as trolling, nor should anyone.

Minor sigils are the worst, they should be able to be added by the player – our choice – to the trash list.

We need a solution for the massive junk that is found even with pretty darn good magic find – one more spike and I think I will put them up for sale on Ebay and see if they fly.

We all know that databases are all over GW2, but the one that bugs me the most is the selling mechanic that makes no sense.

We must sell things one by one, endlessly clicking, event after event.

At times it takes me over half an hour to empty my bags enough for another “run” in whatever events I am doing.

Here’s my simple suggestion:

Put a box on the left-hand side of all sellers on each item but only the sell mechanic so that we can check off all we need to sell at once and then click on “sell” just once.

The TP, especially and singly, is ridiculously inept at cutting off sellers – we come out of the Maguuma jungle or Silverwastes and have to wait over and over and over while the TP tells us we are “selling too fast” – BALONEY.

An amazingly less frustrating and far more efficient way to get people back to playing instead of sitting at any vendor for ridiculous amounts of time, please give us check-boxes to sell faster and get back to the game.

This bug is stopping many from one third of the program.

Pets still don’t work fully in any mode.

What do you think are the best pets for pvp? I know they nerfed smokescale to the point where they’re not meta anymore. Theres also a theory that ranged pets are far better because they can more consistently hit a moving target. I know taking BM trait line makes a difference (ex favors birds), but what about if you don’t take BM traits?

Except if your pet has been turned off by Anet….

When you have pulsing 3 stacks of stability and STILL get stun locked for ~2 seconds.

Also i recall the devs saying the elite specializations are going to be a sort of subclass that allows classes to fill roles they previously could not, but not be stronger than the core lines. Then why is EVERY necromancer a reaper and EVERY mesmer a chronomancer?!?!?

Also are all the flashy effects necessary? Does the entire kitten screen need to flash when a dragon hunter finishes channeling longbow 5 or when a tempest overloads air??

The game is not fun in this state, everyone has a ton of cc, everyone has evade or blind build in somewhere, some elite specs have a stupid amount of blocks/reflects and the particle effects are so plentiful and in-your-face that a team fight looks like a disco floor.

Obviously there are some mechanics that are not working as intended.

Blocking the unblockable seems to be a very overwhelming theme in Anet’s lack of care of its own program.

And it’s not just you.

LFG in map chat multiple times, no one shows up.
LFG using LFG tool, no one joins.

Actually scrap that, people do join the LFG but they are using me as a godkitten taxi into the instance and leave instantly causing me to relist over and over and over.

This is becoming increasingly frustrating as I am stuck waiting over and over to get these kitten points done.

I cannot imaging what it is going to be like on my other characters when I get around to them.

Most can be done with two.

Many can not.

Finding them isn’t easy nor fun.

No events leading to them.

In less than 3 weeks, I’ve hit the wall with GW2 HoT, tired of the long Meta Events, sick of 75% of the maps and way points being contested. It’s just run like hell from one event to another, it’s getting old way to fast, Even Orr is relaxing compared to this!

GW2 with HoT is becoming too much of a twitch game for me.

Anet has no idea it’s killing its own game.

Dragon Stand events? Not anymore – not since the first two weeks…. so few and more are in the lower maps if at all, some times of day.

If they had made the new maps as easy to “start” as Silverwastes, as in clearing an area, it would be succeeding.

As it is, 15 people to start a map event might as well be a million even with 30+ on EVERY map.

Anet has no idea how to manage its own game.

Period.

That’s going to get really expensive to ask for a daily slap for “$50” in my opinion.

It looks like I’ll play Heart of Thorns for dozens of days, so the daily slap-in-the-face price will be more reasonable. I did buy the $100 box as well, so if I make it 50 days each daily slap will only amount to $2.

Also, it would be nice to have the Guild Upgrades that I had access to previously before HoT launched.

Still hoping that the powers that be…will do the right thing.

Don’t punish the Little Red Hen Guilds that un-locked many upgrades in fair play & with hard work.

Guilds that didn’t un-lock the upgrades should need to work on earning the upgrades with any new guilds that start now…since HoT has launched…in my opinion.

I’m still trying to find my inner peace btw…as one fellow WvW here on this forum might say.

Yes, losing access to upgrades and features that we used to have, and placing them behind a wall of 7000 gold is very disappointing.

This daily is no longer possible. Yes, we need to fix the fact achievement still shows up as a Daily. The same is true for the WvW Veteran Slayer achievement.

“Need to fix” becomes a regularly spoken lie after a while when things go on being broken year after year – and so many things and mechanics are broken already in WvW.

We were promised a better WvW, not one where solo and small guilds are not only left out but you opened the wrong servers who were already overwhelming those who are against them.

When the “new” maps were first noised, there was no talk of replacing our beloved Alpine BL maps! and then you made them almost exactly like the hated and mostly avoided ETOM that most of us would love to see deleted altogether.

You guys have no idea what you’re doing ot WvW and it seems you don’t care.

Here is to hoping that they fix Dragons Tooth before the launch of the expansion after Heart of Thorns!

Its not bugged, the ability doesn’t require line of sight, it just requires you to be able to target a person or object.

Dragons Tooth should be checked by Line of sight. Dragons Tooth or any other skill from players for that matter should go off on a player that is “safe” behind their walls, out of Line of sight. Be it a bug or an exploit, it should be looked into.

I posted these in one of the past AC threads that got locked but the wonderful wvw community basically told me it was a l2p issue I was having..

Anyone reporting issues is told to “L2P” by players.

Worse, being told in email by Anet that they have no idea what happened, why the whatever the issue is can’t be fixed and not to play the toon.

Anet knows how to fix things – make sure the community doesn’t have correct info and make sure their email support has zero contact with any software teams.

Good game – when it works – which is becoming less and less often.

New borderlands gotta go before WvW is dead

the old map with the new mechanic will be the same problem…. It’s not only the map… It’s all around…

How so?

I have seen no real evidence of any issue with the maps that would cause this, other then players feeding on one another fear and refusal to accept something new.

The maps are equivalent size.

They added varying aspects to each keep as was overwhelmingly demanded.

They changed the upgrade system to prevent the excessive supply trolls, as was a very popularly demanded.

They added an important event in the middle to draw all 3 sides into 3 way battles away from keeps.

They made it more difficult to turtle down and treb keeps from inside the safety of another keep, that was also strongly demanded to have done. Meaning you have to expose yourself more in order to attack and start a siege against another keep.

All changes that satiated the overwhelming demands of the public here on the forums.

How so?

It’s so automated that there is no personal interaction nor responsiblity to any solo person or small three man guilds and WOW are there a LOT of them.

Its sickening to see Anet nerft WvW instead of listening to the players in the first place.

We need far more health.

We need our pets to have at least as much life as pvE

We need mechanics that work.

We need our darn Alpine maps BACK, these are the worst ever and the daily to find the ruins can’t be done.

Fifty to twenty – Anet has no idea how to balance WvW but players do and many have said it, use only those who are playing to “place” any WvW server.

My gosh this is getting old after three years – now many of us have been told not to play our toons if they have specific bugs.

You may not know what’s going on in WvW, but the rest of us who have been here since pre-Release do and we are highly insulted by Anet.

ET is barren, any server match up against it is a free map to cap.

Supply master only give a max of 15 not 20 like it used to.

We have been cheated out of every single thing that could be done in WvW.

More things should have been added that mattered but all they did was take away stacks, five supply, any solo ability to upgrade anything and a game where most are trying to figure out why the new maps are there at all if it’s so darn automated.

PvE has taken many WvW’ers – and it will continue to do so because the true end game has been nerfed to the ground.

If the players had three times the health and still the abilities they have now it might be a fight , but as it is we are all dead in less than two or three seconds due to numbers, not any kind of skill that might be fun for all to hone.

Anet hates WvW – face it – they’ve abandoned us and put WvW on autopilot and opened all the wrong servers to new players.

As I’ve posted many times, Guilds should not be prioritized in WvW, period! Worlds need to be a cohesive military force. Buffs need to be available to every soldier of a World because they all matter equally. Not gating buffs to social cliques, especially to only the largest large social cliques at that.

The entire design concept of gating WvW buffs to guilds is a complete failure….

With all respect to guilds i must say i agree with this. If you are a WvW player, you are a WvW player. Period. It doesn’t matter if you are in a 300 man guild or a guildless lone wolf. As long as you are an active member that does stuff, you deserve the possibility to earn your buffs

Guilds deserve some “extra stuff”, since they are, well, guilds (which should mean a group of people who play with the same mindset for a common purpose). But making +5 and such SO much related to guild (and ONLY to guild) is disrespectful for the guildless WvW players that yet do a lot of work and deserve credit.

The small guild and the solo player have been left out of WvW completely.

You guys have killed WvW Guilds
What we have upgraded previously, specifically the +5 Supply Capacity, that can be easily gotten by Lvl2 Art of War upgrade, now requires us to have a Rank 37 guild to do that.
Where is the logic in this?
Something easily obtained in the previous version is now going to be a grindwars2 to get to.
Not to mention that this +5 Supply is as essential now than it has ever been, because of the EXTREMELY LARGE Desert Borderland Maps that now, a 5-man group (in lower tiers) you have to run out and back again, at least 4 times to get the supply you need to actually make something happen on a keep/tower that auto-upgrades to fortify without anyone pushing a button to make it happen.

IT IS JUST A NIGHTMARE!

Also – the upgrades are CRAZY! Needs too much exp grinding farming etc!

Please bear in mind that there are people that play this game only for WvW Purpose and not the PVE aspect. And so, having been brought out of my preferred gameplay, to farm for materials for these upgrades to get sheeeeeet that we need in WvW… is just… i would say, tasteless, not so well thought out, and quite frankly STUPID.

HoT actively drives people away from WvW

Before HoT, you could claim and buff locations. You could spawn plenty of guild banners. You could lead zergs across a map and fight other zergs both in open field and at keep walls.

After HoT, you can’t claim/buff anything because your guild has to both unlock its guild hall (pve) and fill the treasury a bunch of times (pve) and schedule aetherium upgrades (time-gating)…

After HoT, you can’t spawn banners/craftables because you have to be a scribe (pvButton) which requires tremendous amounts of new materials (pve).

After HoT, leading a zerg across the new BL maps means you may never see another zerg because the keeps are so big that going door-to-door takes a millennia, there’s 20 paths to get to the same spot instead of one tried and true path to catch people on, all the “quick movement” stuff relies on ONE player not sniping any of the completely out-of-the-way shrines away from you if you own the keep, there are barricades to intentionally slow invaders down (even though they’re currently borked and you can jump over them), people waste time farming at every location slowing/dispersing your zerg from reacting to stuff, defenders are given defensive tools way too quickly and every door and wall is built like a murderhole with 3-4 levels of vertical to deal with.

Oh and everyone knows that nobody’s going to be out there because they’re all either doing pve because it’s either new/fun/challenging or necessary XP/supplies/guild upgrading or both. Plus grinding legendary creations, plus having to do hero point runs for unlocking all their trait lines…

It’s not even that WvW is a little attention starved right now. It’s that the new content is actively driving people away from it…on purpose!

No tags on BLs – almost ever

Fifty to Sixty against twenty-five constantly on EB

If it’s this bad that they opened up BG, didn’t take into account the players who play WvW versus those who don’t on any server before allowing even more of an imbalance, then why have WvW?

Why is Anet actively destroying WvW?

Why no Anet tags in WvW any longer?

Why no tourneys – some may not like them but they draw in the casual player like nothing else with WvW specific gear and goodies.

Anet, you may not like WvW, but we did.

Until the new BL maps and the changes in automating so much that solo players are locked out completely – and that’s for upgrades and for solo roaming.

Fifty to sixty players coming at one person – yeah, that’s skill.

Anet? When are you going to wake up and realize that this is the end game, not stripped down PvP that only encompasses a few players at once.

WvW needs a rollback.

In my previous testing pets were tested how fast they kill Heavy golem with or without F2 skills and i did share ONLY the best result. Since a lot of you requested a test on moving target, i’ve ran some tests. I did pick only the best pets of its genre! On first and 2nd test i was running with beast mastery, so pets are quick!

I’ve found out shocking news, and by watching what our pets do, how they attack I was shocked that i’ve never took a moment and see how bad our pet state is IT IS ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING, developers, i know you read this, and take a good look into this stats and videos:

Let me stress out that no matter if pet is UTILITY or DPS oriented, there should be no pet that takes longer then 40-45 seconds to kill an enemy without resisting. This topic will also show why do we need 2 active skills as default mechanic.

  • F2 very bad skill, if pet is not LITERALLY in same height and slightest object will make shots obstructed, pet will 100% miss all shots. Video to cover the problem of 100% miss if target is not on same height https://youtu.be/ZJ6GNlokc20
  • Good aiming of auto attacks
  • If obstructed by object, pet will go in melee range, position on the back of the enemy, and start attacking. WHAT Q_Q?
  • If obstructed by terrain they wont move or do anything, they will keep attacking the ground causing obstructed.
  • This pet has decent ranged behaviour, but due to problems with F2 and obstruction problem, this pet is very unreliable outside of flat areas. Totally useless in pve if you don’t carefully position your pet, but even then if enemy moves, you’ll make 0 dmg.

  • F2 casted on current pet position makes it fail to hit target. F2 is to slow, takes to long to perform, and stays for to short duration.
  • 95% Auto attack miss, to long hit animations and chains.
  • Wing buffet(knockback wing blow) takes to long to cast, it doest tract the target. In my opinion Wyvern should tract target until first wing swing.

  • F2 is pretty accurate and responsive can’t add much to that.
  • Problem with Quickening Screech[speed buff] is that they force themselves to go in range with enemy, they chase for a while, and then perform speed buff, then chase again, AND then attack. Which is kind of pointless. This changes needs to be done before Esports..
  • As video shows toooo much dancing around enemy without doing any damage, flying around in number 8 making them waste time with performing very long animation.
  • PATH FINDING CATASTROPHE, due to “PER 1 sec TICK” path finding, this doesnt look that bad on bird, but it really is crucial, because bird attack animations take so long to perform, it makes path tracing almost fluent, but it’s not.

  • This is one of the best designed pets, and this is how pets should be: accurate, sticky, big enough attack range for close range melee attacks.
  • F2 all pets quite accurate love it
  • auto attacking is amazingly accurate, this is how all pets should be!
  • Look how cats change direction when they perform attack on the end of the cast, making them good at what they do.
  • PATH still crucial, but since cats are accurate with auto attacks, it’s not that crucial, but still.

ALSO pointless things i’ve noticed during the tests:

  • Ranged pets, if they hit obstructed auto attack, they will go in melee range, position behind enemy, and start performing ranged auto attack.
  • Pets often interrupt themselves by chasing for 10-15 seconds to get in melee range, and then perform utility skill, etc birds cast speed, smokescale casts smoke field and tons of others.
  • Pet F2 or actives, leaps, wyvern buffet or F2 skills, siamoth charge etc.. should attack player location on the end of the cast. What now happens is, we press skill, they store location, start performing attack, player long gone left that position, they charge that area and miss 100%. How we need to change it? Press skill, they perform attack, after full cast is done, get player location, charge that area!
  • Path finding is literally checking every tick.. every 1 second checks for the location of tracking location, this makes tracking very inaccurate and you can see it in videos by dragons, why this is crucial way of pet AI not in pair with AI 2015.

f2, after three years of tickets and more postings than any can count, still does not work.

After all this, after waiting and waiting for all pets, mechanics and pets to be fixed, nope, nerf, nerf and nerf again until we are useless in WvW and PvP.

Now we the staff #1 skill not working as intended – it’s supposed to hit THREE foes – it hits only one single foe… making our one skill totally useless in a crowd where we might actually do some good.

Oh well, here we go again…

Sad Beastmarster Druid

It saddens me a bit that the very mechanic that I rely the most on, is often broken, unreliable and and miss often – the pet.

Just to make some examples…

The pet is my heaviest DPS that I have, (since I’m not only a beastmaster but also Druid) Recently the smokescake was destroyed – again. It was awsome before the last change. Time to change pet – again, back to some of the old pets.

Many of the new pets are broken:

Both new wyverns have too slow AA and tail swipe – wich makes the miss.

Fire wyvern misses due to not taking target, with it should do. It also has a slow cast time wich also makes it miss.

Bristleback: Misses due to broken projectile mechanic.

An Electric Wyvern that dont even fly. That pet would have been better as a dolyak (or other horned, headbutting creature) due to its mechanic. It looks awsome and have a working mechanic why i actually use it, despite it being a bit odd.

I had hopes for pet AI to be updated with HoT to be in par with our new enemies, to e able to actually hit targets, to hit YELLOW targets (such as doors etc). But no…

The synergy between the skills and Traits and the pets is very poor, at least when it comes to druid. and Druid is still a pet class.

Pets names till dont save…..

Any other Beastmasters that feel left out out there?

Same boat.

Same problems.

Same disregard for all of us who have been waiting for fixes and new pets, both of which are huge disappointments.

Don’t count on your pet in PvP or WvW… PvE is where you will shine now and nowhere else.

I have had my account suspended for a second time, both times I have purchased heart of thorns and been able to play for a few days then I am suspended. I have look at the overview of my account and it says I do not have heart of thorns anymore. I have checked through my bank and both times the payment was successful, I only bought through the official website. I only have one account, only logged in from one computer, no other account has logged in from it and I don’t use any 3rd party programmes (cheats). Can anyone explain what I am doing wrong? I have never had this problem in 10 years of playing guild wars.

If you get nothing, I’d call Anet in Bellevue and ask what the heck is going on.

64-bit Client Beta FAQ

I have i7-4790k with GTX 970 as my video card.

I did some research. There appears to be a bug with the compiler runtime, where it can generate code that just won’t run with certain CPU/OS combinations. My understanding is that all Windows versions after Windows 7 SP1 should be functional. Do you have any service pack installed for your Windows 7? If not, updating to SP1 may be worth a shot. It may be a good idea anyway since support for non-SP1 Windows 7 ended in 2013.

It would be great if we can ensure this doesn’t happen in a future patch, but since it’s on such a core thing as the compiler runtime it may be out of our hands unfortunately. Will have to look into it a bit more.

Whenever I try to start a story instance on the x64 client, the map never gets loaded (according to -maploadinfo) and it times out.

Is this still true? I believe there were some issues earlier today (if my eavesdropping skills are up to par).

Precisely how long will this “beta” period be for?

I would think “beta” is a taboo word with the Mac client being in “beta” status for the better part of 3 years.

I think in general we don’t tend to drop the beta tag until we’re completely satisfied with how it runs. That just hasn’t happened yet for the Mac client, for multiple reasons. I realize it won’t make much of a difference at this point, but we sincerely do intend to get it from being barely an okay experience to at the very least a good one, with the goal being a great one. As all good things though, it will take time.

Then why is it that I can use high res character textures on the 32-bit client, but not the 64-bit client?

That’s a very good question. If you post a dxdiag output (instructions in an earlier post), I will certainly investigate.

Looks like the 64bit version can’t play with partially downloaded client, need full download.

By the way, I want the Exe name to be Gw2.exe, because I track the time I use with applications. Maybe I can rename it? or maybe the final version of this will be in different folder? or better, remove 32bits support and change to 64bits with the same name?

About my testing, I don’t see any difference, apart of the exe using more RAM.

It should work with a partial download. That said, there’s a known bug where the game sometimes (rarely) thinks all the files are required. Restarting the launcher may fix it.

As for renaming the executable, go ahead. The name has no significance what-so-ever.

GW2 is also crashing for me when I run the 64bit version.
