A picture says it far more eloquently than I ever could but this is just one problem:

As many as five to eight in any sPvP game but it’s mostly eight to six with several afk’ers and that’s without adding the other inequities like Rangers being useless unless surrounded by others – they don’t stand a chance against any single character combination.

It makes me upset that two players on one side and one player on the other in many of my games tonight in sPvP were afk’ers and it made the side that had those who weren’t playing lose badly.

We are losing glory points for many reasons, but how do we stop the afk’er who just sits there and does nothing, gets no points and ruins the balance that is already unbalanced in so many other ways?

And just look at the screenshots… Eight to six? Four to six? I’ve seen five to eight… this isn’t right for any pvp in any game.

That’s a ridiculous thing to say to someone who is very right in saying that spvp is not working properly.

When a brand new character, one who hasn’t had the experience of a level 80 character comes into spvp or WvW and facerolls our pets and us in two hits, you know something is terribly wrong.

I was griefed today for not doing better as a “Warrior” but I was doing far better than my poor Ranger has ever been able to…

Griefed for being a level 11 Warrior, yet I saw several level 1 “Warriors” who did better than me in spvp when I play Ranger at 80.

We need updates so we can all go back to our beloved Rangers.

sPvP has many times frustrated me – my Ranger isn’t a match for most of the other charcters – we all know that we’ve been promised changes to equalize the talents but in sPvP at least the numbers were fairer until lately.

Several times in the last month (I have two screenshots, one from October and one from today) showing clearly that there were four players on one side and six on the other.

No one left the game just before the game was over – and these lopsided games are frustrating when you are trying to rack up decent “Glory” in sPvP and I am getting tired of the other side being so snide and mean in their commenting when it’s brought to their attention.

I do believe that lockouts are warranted at this point.

Why can’t pvp be between two similarly matched characters without two or more others jumping in?

Ganging, ganking, zerging, camping, whatever it’s called that day/game (I am not the only one noticing these inequities) we all know it’s not very “pvp” (player versus player) and it’s getting very painful.

I came to GW2 from other mmo’s hoping its pvp would be fair and equitable, so far, it hasn’t been and it seems to be degrading into zerg fests rather than a test of skills.

If there are thieves in the sPVP I can’t get two shots off without being downed…

Yes I have rheumatoid arthritis and yes I am “slow” compared to younger players but that doesn’t mean that my skills are lax – even with the best skills Rangers are given no respect for their pets, their strength or their savvy in the wild.

In reality a “Ranger” would down a “Thief” in two seconds… in this game, we’re just dead most of the time in the sPVP. And fifteen seconds of death just means you are losing point after point after point… lowest on the leaderboard regardless.

I have to hit games and refresh over and over and OVER to find games that aren’t full so yes, it is broken and it needs to be fixed.

The “browser” should only" show games that are *joinable but does not.

I would love to see that spec down to the details if you spvp

A warrior would be your overall easiest IMO. Now being able to walk over enemies is no indication of easy mode though, no matter the profession you will NEED to learn that avoidance (dodging and kiting) will give you much more bang for your buck.

I agree, there’s a lot to be said for experience in spvp to show what you do and don’t know and need to work on…

We need more tutorials in this game, that’s for sure.

I enjoy being a Ranger and as we all well know, there aren’t any great changes to pet tools not working or skills that don’t pop without mashing them dozens of times before they finally go…(yeah, right Great Sword which ok, does help a bit but after I hit them a couple of times if I don’t have help I am dead no matter what), that all said, I would love to enjoy the game – but I absolutely need companionship.

The games I’ve played in the past have always had static pets and this one is no different as far as that is concerned, in fact, it seems we have an extremely small relationship with our pets, and it should actually be part of our story, one which has been ignored throughout our history as people who choose a very complicated and beloved part of why we play – so if I can’t be a Ranger for now (the frustration of little support in spvp is mounting – zergs, no player lockouts and iffy mechanics) what are some good combinations to try.

Warrior I found cumbersome/heavy/slow – and I don’t need a huge learning curve either since I am learning disabled – no griefers over my disability please, I agonize over it enough as it is, thanks.

Being hit by so many people when you are underpowered as it is, isn’t fun at all.

spvp seems to be much worse than dungeons and WvW where you have a bit more support most of the time.

If you’re a so called skilled player but now you’re having troubles, consider the possibility that you were crap and just rode on the thiefs OPness.

Thieves are still strong. They still do high damage on backstab combos, and they still have the best way to escape enemies. Dancing dagger was rightfully nerfed. I disagree with the C&D nerf (i think they should have nerfed mug instead), but other than that it’s fine.

If someone has been doing ok on their past build and an “update” blows it, I’d be upset too!

I have to agree. When the ball is dropped it’s not just this game, it’s a cumulative result of not being listened to in ALL of the MMOs that decide to have “pet” support but don’t take those players OR their pets seriously.

The fact that this message that you, Jon, put out has been seen over 86601 times and is one of the most viewed on this forums board not just Rangers is proof that you failed bigtime Jon. 86601 times is a lot Jon, and that’s just those who participate in the forums. Doesn’t that tell you anything?

Don’t fifteen pages of responses tell you that we are not satisfied with a “gee, maybe next time guys – wink wink!” after the (put your numbers here ###) fixes on every other class and profession in the game except us.

Rangers are far more important than you gave weight to us in the business/programming model and you darn well know it.

Anet seems to hate rangers for some reason.
I wish there was a warning screen when you select a ranger class on character creation that “Rangers will never be fixed; their pets are absolutely useless and can only unnecessarily extend your agro radius, so you can get killed faster; their utility skills are a joke most of the time; they will never be able to deal with lvl 1 thieves”.

As a single-character kind of player, I’m now disappointed I’ve invested over 400 hours into a class that will always be weak and broken.

This is about trust and we trusted you to make the Ranger equal to the rest of the world and you have not.

Truthful communication starts in the game and continues in these forums but we have not been given the truth, what is really happening and why we are so much less valued by Guild Wars 2.

One of my most visceral feelings is about our pets; these hugely magical creatures that can kill us before we tame them can’t do a freaking thing after we tame them so why bother making them so ferocious in the wild if we don’t even get the opportunity to keep the names (goes back to default every single reboot, terrible programming), get to have a conversation with them (they are magical for gosh sakes) and don’t have any relationship with them, not even good enough for them to attack what is dangerous without our mashing the buttons over and over and over again hoping that our tamed pet, our beloved even at level 80 will just go a different direction, attack something at random (really? agro’ing from a pet we tamed and depend on to have a bit of discerment and some sympathetic thoughts shared between us… you guys are really dropping the ball on the most important character in any MMO.

Static is bad but we’re close to that with the pets and the relattionship/underpower of these magnificiently characterized animations… I think we all lose because our other “half” isn’t doing it’s part for our survival but if the same animal at our level attacks us in the wild we will be hard pressed to put it down alone, one without the other – in other words it takes one of them and two of us…. still doesn’t make sense.

Rangers are the bottom of the barrel currently, but maybe if every other profession was nerfed we would be ok. I’ve always been a firm believer that no class should ever 1 or 2 shot anyone. Long battles are far more enjoyable then 2 second fights, no class in the game should be critting for over 10k. If most classes have roughly 20k life why are there classes critting for 20-30k ? Bad design is bad.

I agree and I am tired of those who aren’t playing Ranger weighing in on what they can’t understand.

I created one posting after playing since the first day – get over it.

You (Guild Wars 2) stated that you would do more if we posted in these darned forums, but all of us know that you have lied to us and we are getting sick of it.

No, this isn’t real life but it is important to those of us who spent the money and who play this game to get out of it what you promised which was balance between the classes and professions.

Our pets are underpowered.

Our weapons are underpowered.

Our skills are underpowered.

And that is compared to all other professions available.

How about doing the right thing and re-doing Ranger to the standard of a Warrior or Protector but this isn’t a Ranger… This is a joke.

When you play a ranger who is consistently dead, dead, dead in spvp no matter what the build or mechanics, then and only then can you say what you have…

You are a silly person for not playing a character we who do play it know is broken.

Especially people who claim that rangers do poorly in SPVP. Ranger is slightly under-powered in terms of the meta in tournament style PVP but I wouldn’t say by much.

No one seems to understand how fast a ranger can put pressure on a player with conditions while still having decent survivability. Not to mention that there is a build that basically leaves you unkillable, or atleast until your team members can come kill off the attackers for you.

People seriously need to start to learn how to use their pets properly, for example I use double ravens because their high damage synergizes well with my build, not to mention they seem to hit running targets a lot more efficiently.

I’m not a ranger pro or do I claim to be but you guys make it seem like the class has absolutely nothing and I strongly disagree with that.

But before all of you guys start posting angry replies, yes the ranger has issues that should be addressed and is slightly weak at the moment.

I agree, I just posted a new topic and was summarily deleted ( I reposted “properly” )by these unfeeling people who don’t get that this is important to some…

I’ve built.

And I’ve torn her apart again and again. I’ve researched on the net and torn her apart again and again and again in hopes that I’d find a decent build to go into spvp, WvW and ahem (!) tournaments.

I’ve made it to 80 with my Ranger and I’ve fought and die more than any other character – my level 10 (!) toons can do as much damage in most situations.

But getting to 80 wasn’t the issue, it’s pvp, and no hope of tournament play even now.

Every single spvp game in am in rangers are downed in one or two hits – whilst the mesmers, thieves and warriors (and more geeze) can’t be downed by me and my supposedly huge pet who does almost no good.

Again and again and again Rangers are given no real threats, aren’t taken seriously by this or any other MMO to date and I am sick and tired of this! I paid for this game on a fixed budget – this is more than nuts.

I want to play a ranger – I do better emotionally in a game with the prospect of finding pets, and being partnered with a creature who is supposed to protect me.

Even now I can’t get my pets, all of them, to do what they need to do, are meant to do on a consistent basis… they seem to go after animals even at 80 without my clicking on anything at all.

Rangers aren’t underpowered, they are broken and they need a serious re-do and not to other MMO standards of this type of character – we have magical pets and they aren’t being taken seriously nor are they powered enough to be able to listen and do what they are intended to do… protect the Ranger.

You can’t blame me on mechanics since my mesmer and thieves do well enough for what I understand of them at all of level 10, but my ranger, my eighty ranger can’t down a single toon without massive help – that’s wrong when they can down me alone and kill me with a single blow – why can’t I have the same abilities and do that kind of damage with a pet that doesn’t die amazingly quickly?!?

I just left two separate instances where the players were unbalanced and neither was given the opportunity to “volunteer balance” – the ONLY one I was forced to take the other side was the one where a guild was DUELING and not playing at all AND I was attacked for NOT KNOWING!

DEVS WAKE UP, YOUR PVP IS FAR WORSE THAN ANY OTHER MMO OUT NOW.
