Anyone notice how this screws underlevels in WvW?
It’s basically making WvW an “endgame only” thing…

You shouldn’t be actively WvWing for your server if you’re an Uplevel. That just hurts your team’s efforts to win. You should consider leveling up, and mastering the new trait lines so that you can play efficiently.

Yeah and anet says play the way you want…
Personally I hate the PvE in this game with non-fract dungeons being really the only thing I actually want to do. Other than that I can’t stomach the DEs (which have been abandoned/nerfed), running the personal story more than once per race is insanity, crafting the same discipline that you’ve mastered on another toon is both costly and tedious, and mapping the same scenery over and over again is pretty crazy too.

WvW (and to a lesser extent PvP) and dungeoneering are the only things I like at this point.
Before you could have your traits from level 11 and up and you could at least steadily progress each level with the stats and eventually a minor and major trait.

Now it starts at level 30… and for any characters I have under 30, I have no traits. No extra stats. It is solely gear-dependant (“game not about gear” lol). Even then, you only gain stats every 5 levels. At least before it didn’t hurt as much to not be 80, fully spec, geared to the teeth and stocked on food buffs. Now it’s extremely detrimental to carry any sort of uplevel into WvW, especially those without traits.

WvW players get shafted again.

That’s a joke, right?

First of all, this is no worse than Spock’s parents being human and vulcan. Or Kirk having a thing for green alien women. Yes, they’re different species, but they’re both fully sentient and consenting adults. As both races come from Tyria, odds are they’re more closely related than Kirk and his green women are.

And don’t let charr “animal features” throw you. Don’t forget, norn are shape shifters, with all of their other forms being even more animalistic than the charr are. They’d have no problems with it if Snow Leopard came to them to give some advice, or Raven fluttered down next to them to impart some words of wisdom. Or if Bear herself gave them a smack upside the head for worrying over unimportant things in a relationship. Charr features won’t stop them from seeing the person behind those features. As they put it in the movie Avatar, “I see you.”

All the rewarding play has been taken out of Orr. People complained about farming events and farming in general, yet we have the trains running in other maps….
Anet is just slippin’ and slidin’…. Doing one thing and turning around and do the opposite….
Given all the updates to champion loot, Orr should be an even better place to be at but nope. Looking back retrospectively, all the updates to tone down Orr were pretty kitten pointless.

Now that Zhaitan is out of the way, and that Lion’s Arch is to be rebuilty eventually, shouln’t also some Canthan refugees start popping here and there, and set shop in LA?

Lion’s Arch could use a bit of the “Labyrinth City” feel Kaineng had here and there.

You already have Canthan descendants/refugees in DR due to some of the people not agreeing with their Emperor’s decree.

Not VERY long, and this is just analyzed for PVE bosses and champions/dynamic event bosses or whatever.

Why is there a bleed stack limit in PVE?

That is insane, how can you allow condi users to be shoved to the back of the bus and have us deal 65%-76% less DPS, the only reasonable thing to do now is add more health to bosses to compensate for the extra damage conditions will now be doing, and take away the limit on bleed stacks on bosses. Or even possibly bump it up to 50 or 75 stacks? or possibly make poison/burning stack? that would go a long way in making us condi builds happy.

They actually did explain the reasoning, evaluating every single dmg tick per second per player is taxing on the server. When spread over a great many people at once.

Thats an overworld problem, comparing it to people in dungeons, sorry but to be honest you should not be doing as much damage as somebody with every single stat dedicated to dmg, in fact you are doing better than you should be imo, because while they have 3 dmg stats, you have 1-2 and can get pretty competitive numbers

Not to mention your formulas assume constant DPS over 10 minutes from DPS players which is not accurate, they have to dodge, move, use defensive skills etc. (and will have to do this more if they make AI better) in which case their dps drops to extremely low, while condition players remains high.

Condition damage is not suppose to do burst dmg like direct damage, its supposed to be constant pressure and attrition, i would say in dungeons and small group play it is in fact over performing. And keep in mind it only requires 1-2 stats to get full benefit.

In large scale pve, they may have to come up with something, but i dont really now how the server deals with the data, so i dont know the solution, just dealing with what they said awhile back.

Yeah that’s an issue. Having to throw all your eggs into the basket to maximize both condition duration and damage.
I’d rather have the stacks reduced, throw out condition duration, and increase the damage of conditions. That way condition/power/precision builds can come out for more hybridization or you can focus all into condition damage and stacking various conditions to keep hard, consistent pressure on enemies. It would also make them viable in PvE since it doesn’t take long to max damage, hitting the reduced stack cap.

Something to do with Phoebus/Apollo, a snake/dragon, killing it and the creation of the Olympics. But that’s only the prequel. Laurels came from a tree that used to be a nymph (forgot name). The god was obsessed with said nymph and chased her all over the place. To escape him her pops turned her into a laurel tree.

Dunno if that was what you were looking for or not. I’m missing some details from the story but it’s based on greek mythos.

There isn’t a “LOLOKAY, HERE ARE MOUNTS” button. The creators would have to dedicated a lot of time to creating an entirely new model that each character race and size would work with. On top of that, each armor, including heavy, medium, and light for EACH race would have to work with the horse model, which does not exist.

It is time consuming for something that is not wanted by the majority of the community.

You have no idea whatsoever how modeling and animation work do you?

They would not have redo any armor for mounts, they would just have to ‘marry’ the animation bones from one model to the other, not that difficult. In fact its even simpler in GW2 than it would be in most games because our animations are made to where the upper and lower body can run animations independent of each other.

But it’s not like that matters since you and 90% of the other people in this thread are blind bandwagoneers that will not be convinced by any amount of argument.

Something wrong when you’re expecting people to have this sort of technical expertise. Also it’s quite strange from the perspective you’re speaking from…

How about bursty conditions…

- Change the formulas for how confusion/bleed/torment are calculated and increase the damage done.
- Lower the amount of stacks to 10.
- Get rid of condition duration.
- Modify the base duration of all confusion/bleed/torment (some durations need to be reduced/increased)
- Modify the number of stacks given out on skills for confusion/bleed/torment

I believe making conditions do “burst” damage will make them a lot more threatening depending on how ever much your invest into condition damage. There’s too much focus on trying to make conditions last as long as possible in addition to being another stat to gripe about. It also opens up for more hybridization with power/precision/condition builds which is sorely needed.
This is about all I can think about, but feel free to expand on the idea of “bursty conditions.”

Sorry man, the clipping with chest armor and over-sized spatula digs into me all the time. :s
Also the skirts make no sort of sense as they drag along the ground… All charrmor should be a variety of pants/leggings/armor/ornaments with none of the chest armor dragging along the floor…
But I guess it’s not any sort of focus to have armor actually “fit” on Charr instead of being stretched out like it is…

I see what you’re trying to go making conditions virtually do peanuts worth of damage against your health and minus condition duration.
Seems like a pretty nice idea.
And 1515 would be your bonus critical damage as the base is 150% (i.e. 251% critdmg). I seriously doubt being able to reach that high with the ferocity change, though.

I don’t think that’s fair Thief gets a resource-only management system for it’s weapons over everyone else’s cooldown/resource management system…

Also, the only reason there is power creep is because there is condi damage in this game. Most games don’t have condi damage, and right now condi damage is the new meta for pvp.
But anyway, this isn’t a condi rage thread

What weed are you smoking? EVERY MMO has debuffs. Debuffs = conditions

Conditions in other games are usually fixed damage and only increased by leveling up the skill that uses it

Gw2 is quite far from medieval. Quite far.

It probably won’t even be long before humans catch up to Charr/Asuran technology.

I guess the main argument would be waypoints, being a form of travel, reduce the amount of coin. The huge maps where designed with the purpose of utilizing waypoints as the only feasible way of quickly moving from place to place. Especially when it comes to events where nobody is going to wait for you to arrive on your spec-tacky mount. Also take into account mobs are pretty kitten accurate at hitting even with swiftness on. All it takes is hard or soft cc to ruin your “stroll” through Tyria.

Divinity’s Reach obviously has elements of medieval fantasy, saying otherwise is being dishonest. Mounted combat is my primary reason for wanting them plus 40% speed increase would be nice. Mounted combat really voids all opposition discussion, if it get’s done correctly.

That’s not just it. If this game is evolving as the developers want it too, humans will catch up with the advances the Charr and Asura. Some medieval elements will fade and will become replaced with modern/science-fiction elements Some of which you may have already experienced (hot-air balloons, airships). I think human populations within close proximity to other races will advance faster, you know kind of like each of the Orders.
Also I think someone mentioned it… Mounted combat hasn’t been implemented correctly throughout any of the games that have attempted it. There’s no reason to believe that Anet will even attempt another balancing nightmare.
Speed is huge in fighting (or escaping). Why do you think there’s a 25% movement speed reduction whenever you enter combat? Swiftness and movement speed traits are very important for getting around, especially in battles. Now factor in weapon sets and conditions. Ranged will always be superior and will remain so with any sort of chill, cripple or ranged CC.
You can’t just want something thrown in game without considering how it would be implemented with how combat is currently.

This is GW2, the mounts don’t HAVE to be lore-breaking and they don’t have to be gigantic particle monsters with sparkles and rainbows. Use your imaginations, people. If there were to be mounts added, they also don’t have to be like mounts you’ve seen in other games. This isn’t a “Well mounts could be used in combat in X game, so they need to be able to be used in combat here”. We have the opportunity to lay out the perfect foundation here for the developers, if you have a concern with mounts other than “NO!”, please give it here so we can discuss it like civilized individuals.

No one said that they have to make mounts. These threads are made as a suggestion and we are meant to give constructive feedback over whether or not something like this is feasible.

That said, I’ve seen several different reasons given as to why people would like mounts:
1. Some people are concerned that waypoints will be more difficult to use in the next update, but this is speculation and this argument can’t really be made until after we see what the update does.
2. Some people want mounts as additional end-game content.
3. Some people want faster ways to get around the map without waypoints.
4. Some people say it would be more fun to run around on a mount instead of just clicking on a waypoint.
5. Mounts could add more to roleplay.
6. Insert other arguments here, I’m sure there were other ones but I don’t speak for everyone.

Point 1 can already be thrown out. It’s speculation.

Point 2. What end-game? World boss events? Fractals of the mists? WvW? sPvP? I don’t know what you’re getting at here. I don’t want to be rude and say “So you got a mount for your on self-gratification? Ok.”

Point 3 the game is designed around having waypoints as the only means of traveling over significant distance. If this were to suddenly change for some reason like “let’s make more money!!” What’s to say this game will not be flipped on head for whatever reason. Looking here, people seem easily convinced and accepting of anything as long as mounts get put in the game.

Point 4 fun is this and that for different people and completely selfish. Meaning it’s fairly easily for people to have different perspectives on what’s fun to them and what’s not. Utterly subjective and not a real good point as games are intended to be fun in the first place. If something like this needs to be added to make the game “fun” again or more “fun.” Maybe we need to sit down and evaluate what makes gw2 “not fun enough.” Clearly this game has missed the mark on the entertainment value it was supposed to provide everyone equally.

Point 5. I’m not going to tout roleplay as I used to do it myself but Anet isn’t doing much to help roleplayers out with the upcoming changes. I do remember folks asking for a roleplay server around beta though…

What exactly will people do with mounts, other than being pleased with themselves and showing off to others? Waypoints will still be the fastest method of travel. On mounts you aren’t going to get to destinations or events faster than a player that waypoint-ed. Unless you waypoint while riding a mount, defeating the purpose of mounts… It’s not like waypoints are scarce on any of the maps.

I’ve leveled to 80.. an elementalist, ranger, necromancer, warrior, another necromancer, and just recently a guardian and that was hard to push. I’ve gotten an engineer to 54, mesmer to like 34, another guardian to like 35.

At this point I’m sick and tired of leveling, most of us cheat and just do tradeskills, or use the books to get to 20 and then extra levels, or do wvw upleveled anyways. I don’t need to go through 80 levels again to learn a class, the first 80 levels was essentially used to learn the game. I only need my class at 80 so I can gear up and play in wvw properly. Some of you forget you can already be level 80 in spvp from day one of the class so already skipping the supposed 80 levels to learn the class.

I would welcome an instant level 80 gem, make it available after getting 2 or 3 characters at 80 if you need to. Right now I have no motivation to level anything else just too boring and painful.

Sigh. This is where Anet went wrong with raising the level cap to 80 from 20….

Don’t fix what isn’t broken… Still instant 80 gem shouldn’t be the way to go about this. You’d be asking yourself why change from 20 to 80 in the first place if this “path to 80” was being put in the store. “Leveling” is a pretty straight forward mechanic in rpgs with pretty simple ways to reach the cap.
Is time the issue? or is it that “I no longer enjoy the content required to reach cap.”

Is Anet doing something wrong in regards to the various ways to level?? It was always like this across all rpgs…

Reason why you wouldn’t allow stats on titles is because some of the titles are limited to the content they’re present in, like needing meta achievements from an event, some might not even be available to get again. With the couple that you could get easily you then force a lot of people to use those titles.

I like the idea, but maybe it would only be limited to a few titles you could get easily at any time. But then you go back to what doggie said, it forces people into using titles they may not want to over others just for a bonus. I still use my Emissary of the Mad King title which I think was only available for the 2012 halloween event.

Well, i do agree with you, but whenever someone say “forced” it makes me laugh, like “HAHAHAHA” kind of laugh, its player decision to use something or force the use of it on others, i never felt forced to use anything in this game nor i ever used anything that i didnt want to, the “forced” bit is all just in your head.

And of course a player can choose not to optimize and booted from most pugs/speed groups.
I want to take my awesome hard-earned magic find title in the dungeon run but team is like “wtf no damage title? lol” boot

Anyone who calls mounts lore defying needs to take another look at Guild Wars lore. Just the thought that riding on top of another animal could be seen as lore defying is crazy. Mounts get a lot of unexplained or illogical hate. They aren’t as necessary as they might be in other games but that doesn’t mean they could only be implemented simply for aesthetic purposes, lot’s of haters take that leap.

I for one await the day of jousting at divinity’s reach.

Anet doesn’t need to add to their balancing nightmare.
Obviously some titles will be used more than others, till they become required in certain metas to wring out as much damage as possible for a particular spec (zerker; conditions).

They already did something similar in gw1. It only made the PvE-skills even more overpowered for facerolling content.

I would likely point towards engine issues. After all gw2 is still running on the gw1 engine… Also with how gw2 still isn’t graphically optimized for some, it could cause some issues with however “fancy” mounts would be in the game.

But let’s be honest. Mounts are a “I hate these kind of people” issue where people’s often bad experiences with mounts and their owners gives the reason to not want them in gw2.
I myself don’t like mounts seeing them more as cheap exploitation of people’s egos for money.

A level 80 is an instrument to play and enjoy – and win – content. Nothing more than it. By getting to level 80 you win nothing – it’s not something challenging to begin with, it’s simply time consuming. And by leveling to level 80 while not enjoying it, you actually lose.

If there’s no point in having levels, then what’s going to drive or motivate people to progress their character? The fact that there were high level items you could only obtain once you got there was drive enough for people to get to 80 through the various means available to us for FREE (or box price, whatever).

I can understand the pain of playing an underleveled and overall less effective character in WvW and sometimes wish it went faster, but by no means is getting to level 80 instantly the right way to go about it.

Healing power is always horrible…Well except on classes with very low HP.
Ele…Thief… Guardian…

Think of it like this, compare vitality to healing power:

base vit is 916 = 9160 base health
base healing power is 0
10 vit = 100 bonus health
10 healing power = 131.25 hp/s on regen

That’s not anything. So let’s see how this gets worse:
100 vit = 1000 bonus health
100 healing power = 142.5 hp/s on regen

and worse…

300 vit = 3000 bonus health
300 healing power = 167.5 hp/s on regen

Basically, healing power and bonus health don’t go together well at all. AT ALL.
This why little to no vit works well with healing power stacked on toughness but with the condition meta, toughness is garbage and A LOT of healing power is needed to counter degen. Which is impossible anyways thanks to poison.

Healing power is useless everywhere because of bonus health and the condition meta. It’s even funnier that the more health you stack the more insignificant your healing skill becomes…. Which almost requires one to invest into healing power…
Just bad all around…

6% increase in power/precision/conditdmg along with the normalization of critdmg in no way compares to the change berserker’s gear. Berserker’s gear is only bumped down a notch and still will be very useful after the update. As for celestial gear, it only gains very small increases while being weaker damage-wise, than pre-nerf celestial and having only a marginal increase in defense.

People who picked up celestial really got short changed here…. Especially since it’s time-gated…

In GW2, they are close but no cigar.
Hell I’m still trying to figure out what the hell to do with mesmer after 1.5 years…

If I might add,
OP if you were getting celestial for the damage I must inform you that celestial is getting a significant damage nerf in next update coming April 15th.
You might want o cut your losses and opt for another set of gear that’s easier to obtain…

Of course not. Blocked.

Fact of the matter is that people often associated dueling with griefing due to bad past experiences. More than likely duelist will be shut out of their server community for spamming duel requests and complaining on chat. Then some server will start sucking in all of the duelist and be the only one dueling server that the rest of the servers hate.

Hm, actually if it goes like this it will be a good thing. Hey Anet! Make this happen!

Have any of you ever experienced any runs where it seems like the mob damage jumps from when you ran an instance previously?

I was doing SE P1 today and it’s usually no problem with my guardian. I don’t take a whole lot of damage throughout the run and it gets finished within a reasonable amount of time.
But just ran SE P1 not even 20 minutes with 4 80s and a level 62. Shouldn’t be too much of a hassle right? Right???
Just fighting the elite mobs people were going down and my health was getting cleaved by the conditions and damage. Just only passing the first boss everyone gave up and jumped the ship.

I’m guessing that there’s nothing wrong and it was just a bad run but does this really happen? Like a glitch where dungeon mobs do catastrophic damage?
