Many people with rose-tinted glasses on…
Hunter’s Verdict sounds amazing on paper or more like a 2nd Binding Blade. Not saying that’s bad because it’s great for guard to actually get some reliable CC.
On the other hand, sticking boons to traps doesn’t really help them. There’s a reason why traps are very niche… They don’t provide as good utility as the other skills across the professions that use them. Trap ranger is about the only one you’ll see occasionally in pvp due to them applying useful conditions and having decent damage.
Thief’s traps are redundant because what is provided by the traps can be reproduced in greater effect their other skills on shorter cooldowns, more damage,/utility, etc.
Traps need a bit more tweaking so that getting the heal, at least one utility or the elite is worth taking. Not good enough to take every place in your build. Was kind of funny fighting DHs that took all traps used them all and still couldn’t kill my bunker guard.
Pure of Sight being a straight up damage boost is very underwhelming and would seem to encourage double ranged builds… What about a temporary immunity to blind on CC with a small damage boost? Or just have more traits to work alongside or support our CC abilities? The daze on trap placement was a good idea so expand more on the CC!
I think it’s funny that the warrior’s berserker also has no synergy with the base class either. Both heavies but then you have the revenent which descended from the heavens to rapture all the old warrior and guardian players.
Also, BB it would help your chase to say you at least fought some DHs in PvP. I did and for the very few I did meet they weren’t all that impressive…
I tried making some berserker builds but I found out that you give up too much for the berserker spec for little gain. Burn damage is weak.
This spec needs help in order to do condi damage. It’s barely generating burning and for what it does generate it’s only 1 stack on a short duration…
I too thought the longbow primal was funny cause it’s a fire field on a short duration…
I think the idea for this spec was to be bursty and spamy but you lose a lot of survivability and the trade-off is an easier death.
You could go all-out-damage with str/arms/zerk or str/disc/zerk or go defensive with both def/tact/zerk. Otherwise, I believe it’s best not to take zerk over what you already have and tested to work efficiently.
-cut-
The thing is that means a warrior with zerk spec is a warrior with only 2 specs till they turn on zerk mode.
Zerk spec needs to offer a lot more of beneficial changes to the base warrior (maybe some baseline changes) or it’s just not worth taking cause your effectively kitten while not zerked. Even then zerk mode itself isn’t all that great and feels really gimmicky.

Don’t even use bows. Go DH and use both gs and sword, GG.
Oh boy this thread reeks of people that can’t block, blind, evade, reflects or blew all of them trying to avoid AA.
What should be sad is that we’re still using medi builds…even with the bow….
There is no elemental damage type in GW2. There’s only direct damage, condition damage, and agony.
Medieval knights did train in the use of archery and bows, but nobody actually cares about what real knights did in a fantasy game, right?
Anet doesn’t have to strum the exact same tune as all the other mmos. The dragonhunter still needs some work to be fleshed out and I appreciate that they are actually trying to change the conventional archetype.
There’s quite a few people that secretly main thief in this thread huh…
It really shows.
Imo, at least 2 stacks of stability for 4 seconds needs to be baseline for overloading.
Especially warranted since ele has to deal with that ridiculous recharage for overloading.
I was playing my guardian on the weekend in pvp and I maybe saw like 2-3 berserkers the whole time?
Seems folks aren’t taking the class too well. Might it be a risk vs reward thing?
Posting this from another thread:
Spirit weapons need to go back to the drawing board. They really should have been like GW1 dervish enchantments. Enchant your weapons and have them proc an effect every 4 hits similar to VoJ. Triggering the command or chained skill would activate a PbAoe effect Shooting spirit swords from your body (SoJ), AoE knockdown (HoW), AoE daze (SotA) or Area heal/condi removal(BoT).
Some other thoughts:
- Sanctuary needs to be a bit bigger (not like the elite version back in beta), base duration increased by 2 seconds and base cool down reduced to 100 seconds.
- Perfect Inscriptions needs to remove condis again and increase the duration of light auras to 5 seconds.
-Retributive Armor and Force of Will NEED changes to be worth taking over the other two gms in their respective specs.
- Glacial Hear applies 1.5 seconds of chill on hit with a 5 second ICD.
- Binding Blade applies 2 second cripple every 5 seconds for the duration of the skill (initial hit and 5 and 10 seconds).
- Scepter symbol to replace Smite.
- Sword AA 3 to create a symbol, preferably on the enemy like hammer AA 3.
- Signets need better active effects.
It’s bad but I wouldn’t want it to change cause our other utilities (and their supporting traits) are NOT worth taking over medi.
No one will take the signet gm cause it conflicts with Amplified Wrath.
No one will take spirit weapons cause they die and have bad AI.
Shouts are purely supportive skills and are alright for what the do. Just not for damage.
Consecrations are in a good place because each one can fit in any specialized build and don’t even require the trait to be very effective.
My pvp build is a medi bunker guard with contemplation, wall, smite, and RF. The heals are fantastic for sustain on point and the fury ensures I deal damage with marauder amulet.
Basically, for damage builds half our utilities are bad (SW and Signets) which makes us rely on meditations so much.
Off-Topic Idea:

Fought some burning DHs (as my bunker guard) and the common tactic I noticed was to spam traps as soon as they are off cooldown…I In this case they can very deadly on a point especially when you’re snared with either bow 5, dragon’s maw, and test of faith.
I also find the heavy light trait synergizes very well with dulled senses and even the traps as the cripple makes it a lot easier to keep me in pinned in traps.
I’ll be honest it felt like I was fighting against a gimmick. Traps can be dodged and projectiles can be blocked/reflected. Basically I feel as “DH” is just a guardian with “traps and a bow.” Kinda like a self-gimp?
Certainly the DH “feels” strong if you toss all your eggs in one basket but you can’t go very far being a one-trick pony.
Is there any chance of there being a separate stronghold queue? I’ve been off pvp for a while and recently returned to my first stronghold match.
I’m not too much a fan of pve in pvp nor this lame attempt at being a moba.
Still I glanced over this very thread to see how stronghold worked and it was very disappointing to see all you had to do was rush the lord. This game mode doesn’t even required pvp, it’s so sad…
I’d rather grind my brain to dust in conq all day than to play stronghold, at all.You missed the check boxes in the Play screen. Default for weekend was Stronghold on and Conquest off. Also sadly this was necro thread from all the betas. Out of three days saw only 1 attempt at rush the lord at start work and that was due to some new people that had never played the map against people that had. A single defender was still often able to hold multiple people off, and I don’t think a lot of people have started running stronghold specialized builds yet either.
Thanks man! Missed the check boxes before.

So obviously there’s no point to traited corruptions. Is there still use for corruptions without the trait? Cause that’s the only way I see it.
I see symbols as more of a point defense thing. With the honor gm our symbols can cover a whole point. The problem being that you just get pew pew’d down out side of the range of the symbol….
Cele condi’s are stronger than they were before. We only had 438 condi damage before. Even with the new formula, 560 condi damage will do more damage than 438 did before. With might stacks or vulnerability it will be much higher damage than it was before.
You need to read about what happens now when a character converts your conditions in to boons: http://dulfy.net/2015/06/16/gw2-june-23-specialization-changes/
This condi meta everyone is worried about, isn’t going to happen. Raw DPS will still be the reliable DPS and weak to medium level condis will only punish you in the presence of Guardians & Necromancers.
Nobody is running corruption necro and shout guard (maybe condi cleanse medi) will probably be the only viable build in this meta. But with vit vanishing from the guard, they won’d last very long.
I like how you didn’t mention guardian.
Since they’re dead now. Maybe except shout guard…
Already tried. Double Death Nova just doesn’t have the damage….
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Half-a-suicide-bomber/first#post5189690
Condi necro has been dead for as long as I can remember…. Sustained pressure is crap compared to the condi burst some of these other classes can do…
It’s always been powermancer.
Well we’ll become condition fodder now that spammable conditions an reach 5k per tick it only takes 2 ticks to kill us now.
But wait!
There is still shout guard! The one and only.
The new changes of condis to boons and boons to condis will result in the re-emergence of Soldier Rune/Pure Of Voice Guardian Bunkers who strip condis and turn condis to boons and Necromancers entirely devoted towards turning boons in to condis. The meta will be more like Guild Wars 1 where counterplay vs all status effects will be much more in-depth and involved.
Raw DPS will still be the reliable DPS. Condi DPS will be risky and very punishing if your team uses it improperly against Guardians & Necromancers. Same will go for using your boons at the wrong times.
There won’t be any corruption necros. I assure of this.
For guards, shouts might be the only reasonable thing to play given the changes.
Running around the various profession forums have sort of given me an idea of how bad condis will get after this update….
Ya’ll should have seen the gerdian change man. Ripperoni in Pepperoni gerd.
I was thinking of this too but I don’t even know how this would work. Necro doesn’t do condi burst very well… and to add to that Death Nova uses poison for damage… So I can’t see this working at all.
I don’t think it’s the end for guardian but yeah pandora’s box is going to open tomorrow.
Guardians won’t even be able to protect themselves lol. Just load condi cleanse and stun breaks in your kit and at least you’ll die on point.
I’ve run with Shattered Aegis and quite like its damage burst potential in groups, over say, Scepter Power or Focus 20% reduced cd.
The current 3xx damaging shattered aegis can reach 5xx damage on power builds and crit for 1k. The improved Shattered Aegis will likely crit for 1500, give or take 100. That makes for a lot higher burst potential in groups, especially if you pull off multiple Aegis procs.
This is only viable in PvE group play. This will not work anywhere else.
Motp icd made no sense, you never saw guardians with significant might stacks unlike warriors and elementalists.
This one makes perfect sense. ANet wants to make single blocks more meaningful for the trait and to de-emphasize the power gained by many Shelter blocks. You could argue it went too far, but the general idea is fine.
I can understand that but again with my previous argument, it’s not like we were stacking so much might in comparison to the two professions I listed.
Edit: Excuse my poor grammar with the post before this, was on the phone.
On topic: If anything, giving it 3 stacks per hit on a 1 second ICD would help a lot more. Again, i’m just trying to wrap my head around this since Guardian might-stacking was never a thing(spvp).
Also we have other sources of gaining might.
Honor line means more dodges and more might.
I remember Empowering Might back in the day. Those days when boon duration existed. Nowadays, I can’t even think of a decent use other than healing yourself with AH.
Really, our might stack options are kitten. I can’t even try to play a celestial guard cause our might basically evaporates.
So nobody even uses Blood is Power? or corruptions just don’t even exist anymore.
Shelter
Last up to 2 seconds. Protects up to 5 attacks.Im sorry but i’d rather have unlimited blocking on shelter. Its a life saver in WvW zerg fights and if you get focused by a group. I can easily block well over 5 attacks with it.
Tell that to our pvp overlords, since that’s where everything “balance” is decided. :T
Obviously where we got this crazy change from.

I don’t get it at all. Aegis and the mace 3 are unaffected by this change but focus 5 and Shelter are severely nerfed.
If anything why not learn from focus 5? It has a threshold before it breaks so I don’t get why they can’t have Shelter block 5 attacks or something like this:
Shelter
Last up to 2 seconds. Protects up to 5 attacks.
But no let’s just pull the trigger on MotP completely neutering it.
It does make me wonder, though. They can’t be seriously leaving it at 1 stack so I’m hoping for some sanity at least 3 stacks of might for maybe 10 seconds.
Main issues imo is this the cost is dependent on server size and not WvW tiers. Otherwise free transfers to the lowest tiers might be viable. Instead it cost 20 usd to transfer down to Devona’s Rest for whatever reason I will never know.
Please remove the 1 icd on Amplified Wrath and Might of the Protector. Both currently punish skillful play.
nerfs are going to happen. and its ok to be frustrated about it, and let the devs know that its not a fair nerf, if u think so
but i think the bigger issue is the lack of overall options within traits. thats not a nerf, its just poor class design/options, and i think theres more chances (>0.00%) of them at least addressing it in some way than chances of them going back on a nerf (<0.00%) that they made for some reason they think is justified (be it or not)
will they actually appear to care, prob not, but i think we sound less of “QQ u nerf me” with the traits complaint than the nerf complaint
dats jus mee tho…
Yes, it is justified and for a very good reason.
They stated on Point on interest that without the one second all that the guardian need was use shelter and attacking target would get ~5k burning ticks by just blocking skills with this trait without 1 sec icd, and thus reason they were forced to add the Icd.
Pitty that some gw2 want their build to do the player work also… pull shelter…and target kills himself, lets keep requests real and add some game sanity on it instead press button to win mentality… .and sorry to be blunt.
Explication for Amplified Wrath and Might of the Protector starts around @ 5:10:00
(edit) they tested guardian with celestial gear and reached ~5k burn ticks imagines with a dedicated condi damage build…
Hey hey… It’s not like we told that ranger or thief to blow their rapid fire attack while we got Shelter up… I guess you’re happy with a stack of might and a single burn tick now.
Hey people, is this all we have to look forward too in the coming update?
I was thinking about getting back into pvp and the changes have me worried if I’ll be able to survive in the the new meta, whatever it might be.
What are you talking about?
Automated Medical Response?
We still have it.Also, The medkit now fives us FOUR condi cleanses AND resistance (Condi immunity) And the Supply crate turrets can be overcharged now (Giving us the two clenses from that heal turret)
We got MORE cleanses, not less.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Automated_Response
I see that you’re happy with your permanent healing utility and elite?
edit:
Med Kit will probably skill be niche given that a single condi clear isn’t going to do much against the outpouring of conditions. All you’ve done is blown your kit cooldowns.
(edited by blakdoxa.7520)
Also note the nerf to the virtue range which also hits all virtue traits with a sledgehammer.
In a good place.
Loool, no point of even calling them a profession mechanic… Just call them what they are… signets…
That cuts down on our support ability a bit… Kind of a shame this also nerfs any virtue traits as well.
This was one of the few ways to keep condi-cancer off of you in pvp… Why did they remove it…
With the incoming condi-apocalypse, I don’t see any rhyme or reason as to why they are cutting down on engi’s ways to deal with them.
The Med Kit changes don’t feel like they’ll do anything about conditions and we only have one skill that applies resistance.
So what can we even do about conditions after this….
This is what happens when you make money your lord and savior.

Keep at it Tp barons.
RATE the Revealed Elite specs best to worst
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

There’s a lot of hate in this thread.
Only 3 of 9 elite specs have been revealed and people are already casting judgment and throwing stones…
Hell haven’t even played any of the specs but there seem to be many with expert opinions here.
Wow this thread…
I think it was pretty obvious the op was making a “what-if” based on the lore of the game itself. I mean I’d would have never thought a thread like this could attract trolls like it did.
Anywho… The Norn would clearly make this into a 1v army contest between themselves to see would could get as many as they could before they go down. Live to the legend of the Norn who bested a 1000 man human army!
I mean come on people! Have fun with this!
I agree with the op.
Staves used for magic and staves used for combat should be two completely separate weapons or not even considered at all.
I’m quite sorry. You don’t own this game. More like renting virtual space.
Remember the first trait revamp? I sure do. No refunds, so I expect the same here. Also given this announcement, what’s to keep a player from spending more gold and points knowing things are going to change in a few months?
Nothing really.
You can say, in general, adding the standard mmo stats setup was a bad direction to go. GW1 was a lot more flexible with builds and gear.
This is sad… My build only used two turrets.. Healing and Thumper… and now they are getting Smiter’s Booned…..
Ya’ll need to play more ranked and cut this unranked crap out…
This is so real. Like my eyes are literally grasping this page and strangling it.
I can’t believe someone would try/fail to troll on mesmer at this point.
Please keep digging inside me till you make a nest to feed your baby chicks.
Okay, If you think F2 show apply torment, then Distortion should give reflect.(Without the trait.)
Give AoE diversion back too… Honestly, if they did that to F2 they probably give it the same treatment diversion got and take away the AoE ability.
There’s just something off when you have shatter or shatter-related traits in a line that’s supposed to benefit phantasms.
I think we should start with new minor traits for inspiration before we go after Disruptor’s Sustainment…
