Why bother? Don’t, not worth it.

You can reach the third highest single target damage, IIRC (although I have heard some people question that), but you bring very low support, and the little you do bring others will do better.

I have no idea where you heard a silly number like 3rd highest, it’s more like 2nd worst. I suppose there could be some room for debate whether they’re worse than rangers but either way it’s either worst or second worst.

This depends on where you are playing. If you are in PVE, it is less likely to see a condi necro due to a lack of efficiency.

Why isn’t Condition neco efficient? I’m around lv55 and it feels fine, i wouldn’t say strong or op, but not weak as well

The way PvE endgame is designed sadly…

It is not favourable for several reasons to run as a dedicated condi class in a team – for solo play it is fine, if anything the best option available…

Telling someone to eat a snickers was my retaliation to Googlebrandon insulting me. Besides, it is just another way for me to tell someone to calm down. I never stated that “I have a degree, so I know what I’m talking about.” I mentioned that to show GoogleBrandon why I’m not going back on my word until more people show me that necromancers are not as op as I think. Read that post again and probably the true meaning behind it will become more clear to you. Roe does know that most of you are right, that’s why I said that he disagrees with me.

The burden of proof is on the claimant. You can’t make a wild claim and then declare it truth, with no evidence on your side, until someone disproves it. Are you sure you got a degree in any science field?

The tests were making it high on the leaderboards for solo arena, team arena, and WvW. Did you even bother reading the posts? Why are people still posting on here? I honestly thought GoogleBrandon’s rant was going to be the final post, so I didn’t give him a reply. To anyone who is looking at this topic: Please read all the posts before posting a reply. Yesterday, I already decided that the only way to convince people was to show them by rising up the ladder. This topic should have died once that was stated.

Rising up the latter says nothing for your individual skill or build. The better TEAM will win. Post some videos.

Yeah, it isn’t. They want the necro to be an attrition class with no mobility, but able to tank and sustain. I think the word “attrition” is a little ambiguous in the way they use it. The life siphoning traits and signet of vamp were supposed to be our sustain. Kind of laughable in my opinion. On the flip side, if necros were able to sustain properly, people would be crying for days on the forum about how op necro is.

You know that’s a good question and based on what I’ve gathered so far, the OP mains an engie. I’m guessing that his intent was to alarm the devs and have them immediately nerf his main’s counter class so that the game will be easier for him.

That’s probably the best assessment. He probably should have gone with a fear build for that, I’ve heard the most “noob” and “cheese” comments from people regarding that build.

If it works for you, rock it. With such low crit chance, it is a waste of a sigil to use one that procs on crit though.

You can’t stop someone from quitting in the middle of a fight. Alt+F4. Just keep track of when it happens and start penalizing people who do it over and over again.

Wish anet would be kind enough to give loot bags from the alt f4 players.

I was actually thinking that there should be server wide punishment for everyone when you are losing at wvw. The worse you are losing and the higher your server population the more of a penalty it incurs. If the pve crowd wants the benefit of the wvw buffs they should have to do something to earn and maintain it.

I have to agree, the map is fantastic it just a pity about the people that use it.

I think it’s the middle ground for PvE’ers. I like the map, but find it difficult to play with the people that frequent it. A lot of blobbing, very little fighting, almost no defending…

Devona’s Rest is a pretty good choice. I’ve been here since the start but only started WvW around a four months ago.

The community is tight knit; reset nights in TS are phenomenal! You get to know everyone’s idiosyncrasies pretty quickly, and we help each other out. There not too much zerg... there’s the occasional EB thing going on, but show me a tier where EB doesn’t attract pug zergs.

Typical week time engagements are 3-10 person groups hitting targets and having fun. There are server events also if you want to run with a larger group (Asuran Rave, Naked Raids, etc, etc) which are always fun and tend to be light hearted.

I never been part of one of the larger, better know guilds, but they never mind me running with them. PM me to learn more.

Non-cond builds stealing bleeds is a killer at least in WvW. When I drop 15 bleeds on a target and I see the damage tick for like 400 before they cleanse, I get frustrated.

In PvE you’re better off going one or the other, it doesn’t actually give you max damage, power is better for groups and either power or condi for solo (I assume you can solo with power just fine, I’ll leave that to spoj though).

In WvW, you generally need too much tankiness to afford to go hybrid (which requires nearly full damage). Also the power half of your hybrid build doesn’t do well except as a tanky power build (full damage necro only really works in WvW with 62006 which you can’t run as a hybrid).

In PvP, which is where hybrid has sometimes had success, just leaves you too squishy right now.

For WvW roaming, dire stats are prefereable. Cond necros are usually focus fired down as soon as they are spotted, so bunkering up is key to survival. For sigils I’ve come to use corruption and torment(you get a lot of runners, AoE torment adds some dps to these people). For runes, because I run a terror build, I use nightmare. They saved me from ridiculous amounts of focus fire SO many times. Krait runes are good too, and require less farming and are still pretty effective.

I play in WvW and PvP and haven’t run into any issues where it appeared the class was unbalanced. PvE is hard to say, I really don’t do that. It feels less like rock, paper, scissors now than it did a year ago. My opinion.

In what situations, what are you using them for, what game mode, how often are you moving, do you summon them only for combat or do you keep them up all the time, etc.? Minions are basically fine when they are first summoned, after that usually its only flesh golem that has realistic issues.

I’ve had the same experience as op. WvW roaming they stand and watch, and in spvp if you aren’t camping they freeze up too. Pretty kitten annoying.

WvW might have a bit fewer people now. But that might have to do with several things:
1: It is summer.
2: There is no Season going on.
3: There haven’t been any big updates in the game for some time, so people don’t play much overall.

I also seem to recall having posts about WvW is dying basically at the same day the game was released, and yet it is still there with rather long queues at times.

People have been saying it forever. It goes up and down.

2 for custom or unlimited for solo/team? Odd because on solo I get capped at 1 tier a day. I grinded for 8 days seriously, to get a single piece of armor lmao I miss the old system, when I pvped I knew EXACTLY what I was going to get right away.

If the thief was OP it’d be the only thing people ran in at least one game mode.

S/D Acro Trickery and P/D DeadlyArts ShadowArts potentially should be looked at for nerfs, but the profession doesn’t need a rework.

As it stands though, the profession is not OP.

Let me guess because they are the only “tank” thief builds eh? Stealth and evade eh? Can’t handle a glassy class holding a little longer eh?

Thief user logic: When I go into a toughness(Shadow Arts) or vitality(Acrobatics) trait line I deserve some kind of survivability or else those points I spent are useless.
Thief opponent logic: Why does he survive if he’s a glassy class,why can’t i hit him,why does he do so much damage,why is he so annoying?
GW2 logic: Huh mmm so thief did not become what we expected or did they forget the definition of thief or maybe they only want glass canon thieves. Should we remind them one more time or is it pointless?

I think anyone that has dabbled in the different trait lines and doesn’t exclusively play pve would instantly notice the survivability difference.

Also the OP is wrong in pretty much all areas.

Unless I’m misremembering, there were supposedly some fixes put in months ago with a patch that claimed to clear up some of the problems. I’ve never seen a difference.

What really irks me about this is that the proper functions are already in the game and working just fine: ranger pets. Necro minions are ranger pets with one difference—they don’t come with a control bar (another peeve of mine, but hey, one gripe at a time).

Strip off the control bar, and you have the same function: attack target I’m attacking, use the same pathing.

Seriously, we’re heading for two YEARS and the devs can’t manage to adapt existing code that already works to fix this completely stupid problem? Devs always crow about wanting to foster diversity, yet a build-screwing problem like this continues to plague the Necro. Mind boggling.

If necro had the same bar that rangers do, with everything functioning correctly, I’d probably only play MM.

Minions just stand and watch rather than fighting as they should. Both when attacking an enemy, and while being attacked they just watch rather than fighting. Sometimes using their skill makes them start attacking, but sometimes it doesn’t.

Yes, this, exactly this. I 1v2’d a duo running into one of our camps and took out his thief buddy first, and I don’t know why but the ranger just straight up quit. Come on! At least the thief didn’t bail. They were in the same guild, too… I wonder how that conversation went.

I’d bet money they made the “cheese build op class” excuse and went back to PVE.

Dude, how mad does a guy have to be to alt-f4 before being stomped? I’ve seen it a few times, but not so frequently that I’d consider it a trending habit. Anyway, I’m proud of every cow kitten I’ve taken in the grill — least it means I died giving as good as I got. Sometimes. Every now and again dat zerg runs you over and there’s not much giving there.

The best way to play necro in WvW is to be flexible. I switch between power and cond builds depending on whether or not I’m in a zerg, small group or solo roaming. Also depends on the common enemy and what you are trying to accomplish. Power works very well in zergs, and in fights where conditions don’t work very well for an assortment of reasons. Conditions work very well for roaming, solo camping, or generally a small group fight. I use them also during sieges to keep track of where my targets are behind the walls.

I think i’m having the same issue, but I’m not getting any crash errors or logs. The game screens simply becomes black, but my computer keeps running. I can alt-tab the game and close it without even having to use the task manager.

I’ve been having this problems since the new patch. What’s your GPU?

Condi needs a serious nerf in WvW. It’s ridiculous that some classes can apply more conditions than you can cleanse, basically killing you in less than 5 seconds. There’s so few ways to counter play that and all of them involve a battle of attrition, which isn’t fun.

It’s not so much the individual conditions themselves, but the combination of several conditions together. Confusion by itself is fine. Torment by itself is fine etc. But Bleed, Confusion, Poison, Vulnerability, Weakness etc etc. all applied at the same time is stupid. Especially with the randomness of cleansing and the ease of re-applying the conditions (seriously needs to be an icd on conditions like confusion and torment, say… 30 seconds, in line with most cleanse skills)

Yeah yeah, this has been talked to death and several threads have been made about it, but even so, we need to keep complaining about this until it gets fixed.

This is so old. Honestly, cry me a river. It isn’t broken, you just are unwilling to change your build to counter them just as they have altered their build to kill whiners like you. Out of all the things in wvw to complain about, you pick the most redundant. Bravo.

Actually it’s been doing this for a while… A few months ago I was tinkering with different minion builds to see if anything outside the box was viable(nope) and noticed mostly bone minions and shadow fiend doing it the most. Literally they would just stand and watch for up to 15 seconds while I either attack, or am being attacked. Many many many times due to a fray, I assumed bone minions were in the fight because I’ve been attacking the group for quite a while and used putrid explosion only to notice 2 explosions behind me… Where there were no targets… Lesson learned.
