As someone with over 8k hours put into this game I find it sad that so called veterans are feeling ripped off..

Spies can also demoralize the map by negatively commenting on a commander until A: commander gets fed up and logs; B: players start to believe the spy and abandon commander; C: people start to fight back in map chat and cause a big toxic mess that makes people log out.

People do this already and they are not even spies. I didn’t start to command on my server till I was rank 400+ and I was also in a PVE guild.. It was more a casual guild then anything but I will say I got a lot of heat from some people who were mainly from WvW guilds.

Before multiple color tags if you over tagged someone people wanted your head on a platter. I never over tagged people but people did it to me a zillion times. Most that did it to me were from WvW guilds. They would even come to a map I was on and ask everyone to get to there tag basically not showing me any sort of respect whatsoever. Really glad those days are long gone and over with..

It was like instead of working together people wanted to prove who is the best commander. I never tried to be better than anyone. I only wanted to help my server out. I’m glad most of those people are long gone but even today I see things like this happen and it usually happens when it is a tag that people are not familiar with.

I really got burnt out though from commanding and don’t really do it much anymore.

I think this whole spy thing is funny. Its like people want to PvD without being seen to avoid fights yet a good scout will call your movements just as well.

I’ve yet to see a spy.. Not saying they are not around but people are acting like spies will now take over this game mode.

There will always be trolls no matter what and honestly I have seen them. Yes they are annoying but when they siege cap or waste all the supply they seem to leave. It doesn’t happen 24/7 as far as I can see but reading here it seems like it does.

Also I can really only speak for my server and what I’ve seen.. I’m sure in more populated ones it happens more then it does for us in the lower tiers.

That was me but I didn’t mention foefire at all. I read a lot of these forums and when stronghold was first announced it was the players that were saying that this might be the closest thing to gw1 GvG. When those players said that, the GvG WvW’ers all jumped in and said no that is nothing like the GvG we want in WvW.

Call me ignorant all you want.. I’m pretty sure all the wvw gvg’ers probably couldn’t even agree on what they all want. We want 10 vs 10 arenas.. No we run 15’s. Not us we run 20.

Ok so you meant a group of roamers ganking solo roamers.. I took it as just roamers that gank other people. You did say though roamers do not help so I guess you also meant the group of roamers that just run around ganking players.

Yea its kinda crappy and happens to me a lot being a solo roamer. Usually when I see PvP I think people are talking about the PvP game mode. That’s why I talked about PvP. I’d rather have fair even 1vs1 myself but sometime winning them outnumbered ones are just so much better. No biggie. It’s late for me but I get what you were saying now..

They been around for a while.. What was the rank of these speed hackers? Not sure how long it takes to rank up now since it takes forever for my rank title to change but if they are bronze or above they have been around for a while.

I’d even go and say any normal rank title above 50 has been around for a while. Back when I was that rank it seemed to take me a lot of time. WXP wasn’t account bound either so maybe that’s why I felt it took a while since I did play a few different toons.

For all I know you may be able to get to rank 50 -60 nowadays in a few hours lol

edit: also want to add that some people at times do get bad lag. They actually look like they are speed hacking cause they sort of glitch around but the difference is when they glitch they are still moving at the same speed. The speed hackers will def out run everyone.

So many heros on this tread….roamers ganking are just no good, no skilled players who are scared of PvP or suck at PvP …so they come to WvW with an UBER class in full PvP setup with food and everything and 3 looser friends and gank peoble in Zerk/BloB gear. well done you are heros….Roamers are just a bump on the road and they do very little for their server to actually win the machups. Please.. I solo roam a lot. I constantly take enemy camps which helps stop their stuff from upgrading and also changes our tick. I get jumped by groups and zergs but its all part of this game mode. I win most 1vs1, win a lot of 1vs2 and sometimes can even 1vs3 players. Its all about picking the right target and forcing the others to blow cool downs. Lots of kiting, dodging and timing my skills.

If you want an easy balanced game mode go to PvP. I like a challenge and PvP doesn’t give me much of a challenge what so ever. As some one who mainly WvW and mostly goes to PvP when I want to test a build out I will say I can go maybe 1 or 2 matches before some pvp’ers gets salty about me killing them. If PvP’ers are the skilled players why they get so mad at me when I’m just a wvw’er testing out a build? I’m use to fighting outnumbered while PvP’ers are not so used to those type of fights.

Yes there are lots of blobs/zergs but several small groups or solo roamers can actually do a lot more than 1 big map zerg.

Hi Anet,

Please limit free accounts to EOTM. It is one of the easiest ways to control them trolling WvW. Otherwise you will need to restrict supply carry, commander tags, upgrades etc for them in WvW which will be more complicated. Restriction to EOTM only will entice them to purchase the game more if they like WvW and want to help their server ‘win’. Level to 60 before WvW is not a restriction at all for serious trollers.

I can play through the entire game, only Pvp is restricted. All cities unlock with level caps, yeah, its a bit more grindy as F2P.. so what..

Did you play this game for one week to say something like this? So can these free account do all the past living seasons including all the open living world events that are over and done with such as trying to save LA from getting destroyed? Can they really do every thing you have done?

If you played the game for a week then yes maybe they can play everything you have done but there is stuff that they will never get to play or see because it changed the world of Tyria.

If starter zones are too easy for you why not venture out to other zones and try to find something more challenging. Try to get to Orr with your level 9.

I hope I get a couple more years out of this game seeing as the first one did just that.

Also about the small guild thing. From what I heard you can invite others to help you take over your guild hall.

It’s not a change of perception. Anet thinks EotM is WvW. So it makes sense to provide them a rationalized reason as to why doing this makes sense and is a good idea for them, while really, we just want the freeloaders to not kitten up our WvW more than it already is.

Anet knows the difference. They even stated that EoTM will not be counted towards WvW population because it is not the same WvW experience.

Just thought of this as well. If you go to a bank you can select the wardrobe storage from there. You can right click and preview every skin even if you do not own it. Maybe try that and see if you can find one you like. Then the only thing you would have to do is find out where that skin comes from hehe. Usually when I find something I like there that I do not have I type /wiki name of item in the chat box and that brings up the wiki for that item and it usually tells you where to obtain it or what drops it.

There is a check mark to hide shoulders if you want. Not sure if you like the current look you have with just the shoulders hidden or not. I ran into the same thing on my thief and ranger which both use medium armor.. For me I just went with the Leather coat and hid my shoulders since I really couldn’t find anything I really like.

Expected that kind of reply. Everyone knows what kinda players hang around in WvW.

But no. It’s just boring.

WvW is a dull and boring experience.

That is your opinion and that is fine. IMO it is the best game mode this game has to offer.. You never know what to expect. You never know how many enemies are on the map (unless you get outnumbered buff) You never know when your keep is going to be attacked and by what or how many.

Some nights I can barely move off our side of the map since the other 2 servers are all over it yet other nights we are the ones all over the other 2 servers maps. You can solo roam if you want. You don’t have to run with a group. WvW is full of all sorts of players that all like to play different ways.

WvW is probably the single most boring thing I have ever done in my life. You know what an average WvW playtime consists of? Following a bunch of other people in a big zerg for about 20 minutes, run into en equally large zerg and then just spam buttons. No skill required – there is far too many people around for skill to mean anything. And the action is over and done with so quickly you’re back to running around maps looking for something to do. Boring.

Looking at scores this week it seems t3 is the only balanced tier atm. GJ on making that happen. Hope you guys can keep it that way. Now if some other guilds want to balance some other tiers please don’t stack on SF anymore. :P

Also GoM did make it into t3. May have been t4 its been awhile. It was during the second season where we took first in bronze. Our morale was high and we went on a 20+ win streak and that brought us all the way up in tiers. Sadly though when we started to lose it became a sinking ship. I’ve just become used to it happening to us.. See everyone is important to me on the server so even when small guilds leave us it hurts us.

I’m ok with that and my 4k+ rank tells me I’m a pve’er. Looks like we have more spies playing then actually people that play WvW.

Eh, you’d be surprised what people do in this game.

Imagine a bored T1 guild decides it’s going to grab a few guilds, head to GoM and ppt until they can push it up as far as possible and knock down an enemy server because of some grudge match. They go en masse to GoM, game the rating, then leave en masse once the goal is accomplished. Leaving GoM stranded in let’s say Tier 3, to painfully be blobbed to death without resources, until they eventually return to original tier. Only by that time, the server is so demoralized, it loses players and sinks further.

That’s just one scenario, sadly.

Been there and done that lol but those are all players not spies..

Well they do have plans for upgrades and siege trolling but I think that comes out with HoT.

Upgrades will be automatic so that trolling will be gone.

But siege trolls: I’ve heard nothing about that. It’s going to take real live humans to read reports and make judgements on whether trolling is indeed happening. But they have shown zero willingness to use people to police WvW.

And don’t forget the pop-commander-tag trolling that’s not a huge gamebreaker, but is amazingly annoying.

Hmm I guess it is what you consider siege trolling.. Right now the only problem I have really seen is when they build tons of useless siege to burn your supplies which stop your towers/keeps from getting upgraded. IIRC the changes to the upgrades will stop that.. Yes they can burn the supplies and build useless siege but the objective still gets upgraded.

For those that just toss random siege, anet made a change to build sites so it tells you exactly what you are building. Its up to the players to read before pressing f to build siege. I even catch myself at times not reading and just pressing f only to see that I pressed f on a treb near a gate and have to back off fast before I actually dump any supply into it lol

Have yet to see commander tag trolling but really some people just get their jollies off by making it hard for others.. It just sucks.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see if it actually helps out but I think it is a good start..

You probably tried this but instead of wardrobe go to outfits and see if the outfit check mark is checked. I see the same thing you are seeing but once I go to my outfits and un-check it everything is fine.

I’m seeing this as well.. Its worse when someone tags since the tag is basically not above their heads. Makes it hard to see the tag when we are all moving in one big group.

No need to laugh at him. Your made up GvG mode where 15 – 20 people spam skills on each other is not the GvG that many people have asked for. Stronghold is the closest thing to that if you ask me.

The guild hall arena is for your made up GvG matches so you can freely spam skills on each other and claim victory..

I think the only spammers are pvp and pve, the only really competitive stuff is GvG where every skill matter more then anything, you can go all ignorant with it, i couldn’t care less, but at least i respect each person enjoying the game.

Stronghold is nothing near guild wars 1 GvG, yes they have lord with guards and treb, but what else is similar? No area to fight which was the main reason and what did drive people to play that game mode. Stronghold is nothing but invitational for casual players for easier access to PvP.

Just being honest here. And if you really think this is closest to GW1 GvG, then you clearly didn’t play it back then. you just heard “something about it”.

We got mistforged skins that were exclusive to wvw tournies.. Too bad people that do not have enough tickets will probably never get one seeing as I doubt we will ever see a tourny again since so many claimed it ruined this game mode.
