Haha. What server are you on just curious? Now chances of me leaving are slim as I’ve been through a lot on my server and actually like the community that we have. I think I would actually be sad if I wasn’t around the same people I’ve been around for years. I may go on vacation though just to check out other servers if after HoT things don’t change much.

Sorry I’m not Canadian or I would of took your offer in the other thread :P I only have one account on NA with endless hours on it. I also had thoughts of making a free account on EU just to see what its like over there. If I ever do get another account though I’ll keep Piken in mind. I’m EST and play anywhere from 11am till way past midnight. Sometimes I do that in one day/night lol I been trying to cut back though. In the past I definitely put in some crazy hours.
Escorting yaks is easy. If you apply any boon to them (such as swiftness) when you pass by, they give you progress to the achievement if they reach the destination.
That is not true. The Yak must be going to a keep, SM or Garrison, and you must be within range of the Yak for a certain period of time (seems to be around 90 secs, but I’ve never timed it).
Actually I thought the same thing but tested it out.. What you said is true to get the event credit pop-up/karma but I tried it out today and he is right.. You can just apply a boon and the count towards the achievement will go up if the yak makes it to the objective but you do not get the event pop-up..
Now the yaks I tested on all were headed to keeps or SM and I also thought in the past that the ones that just walk to the tower got no credit since you do not get the event pop up for those yaks. Couldn’t really check if the tower yaks actually changed the number in my achievements since we had SM.
I’m close to 9k hours now and I thought the exact same thing. Funny that there is still stuff out there that I didn’t know about :P

Might be time for me to finally sell myself out and transfer off the server I’ve been on since I started.. I bought HoT and want to actually play on this new map yet I’ve been playing with myself (no not like that) or 4 – 5 others during mid day NA up until primetime where everyone plays for 2 hours then logs off again.
Will probably wait a week or two after HoT to see what happens but yea for the first time ever I’m starting to worry…
I’m excited. Now we know that we will be able to obtain them instead of working towards never getting them :P

In the interest of fairness to PvE players, we didn’t want to allow any WvW players who may have been stockpiling liquid world experience to instantly rank up a bunch of times and immediately begin unlocking the new expansion hero challenges the moment the expansion released.
On patch day, any leftover liquid world experience consumables in player inventories or banks will be converted into 50% WXP booster consumables.
So you use them now to get ranks or after the patch they will become boosters

I always push my loot key when I see exp on the screen.. If I die in a fight I wp asap as the loot comes to you in wvw even after you respawn. Pretty neat idea but I feel people would just lay around dead instead of actually wp’ing and trying to run back to the fight.. Of course if it way across the map that’s something different but really being dead and laying on the ground doesn’t help much.. hehe
Also unless I was just dreaming there is a mastery in HoT that is auto loot so loot will automatically go into your bags. Now not sure if that mastery ties into wvw or not but it would be way more useful in wvw than pve if you ask me.. Guess we will find out soon though..

200 WvW ranks though, it’s not even viable to do!
That is quite frankly insane, achieving this purely in WvW will get me an elite spec by next March at earliest.
Yet again, WvW community shafted.
Few weeks ago many thought we would have to grind PVE to get the points.. Now we have the option to grind them in WvW if we want.. Not really shafted if you ask me..
400 to unlock everything so unless you start at level 1 its not as bad as it looks. I have 1 toon with 100% map and unlocked everything so far and I have 204 unspent HP..

Yes, I just logged into the toon I had the most things completed on to actually see how many points I had left over. I have 7 unspent points on an alt that has everything unlocked and only 3% map complete.
I dunno. 400 seems big at first but I’m just saying it might not be as bad as it sounds.

I takes a full 1 hour of running around the map to collect 10~15 hero points, imagine doing this for 250 hero points for 8 characters by a player who has no interest in pve but is forced to do it to stay competitive in WvW.
The upcoming WvW solutions will help, but honestly it will still take far longer to get a hero point in wvw than to just go to pve and collect it.
So after HoT drops to stay competitive we must run these new elites? Don’t think so
Do you really want to unlock as much as you can as soon as possible? Why not pick one that you think you might enjoy and have some fun with it instead of worrying about grinding for hero points.
Nobody will be doing that at 11am on a Saturday.

Hard to PvF here since I always get points added onto my account.. Least I don’t really care what day reset is seeing as its just another day.. Funny that so many claim they will not play anymore since this change.. LOL grow up people.

This would also make it easier for guildies to all do wvw together since they wouldn’t need to pay for server transfer. They can all just pick the same faction.
Bad idea because we all know people like to stack on servers.. People would just stack on a faction and if you limit the number of people in a faction then chances are you’ll still be split up if that faction becomes full.. If there is no limit of players, most will just stack to the faction that always wins.
Going to use EoTM for an example. OG (green) usually always wins or has the most players. I don’t EoTM much but every time I hoped into it that seemed to be the case. Who would pick the other 2 when green seems to always dominate?

I like the idea that ANet has advanced of a period scoring system per day. Lets everyone feel invested without making anyone HAVE to play dangerous amounts of overtime to keep up. For all I care it could be an hourly scoring system, which might even make the score more relevant for every sever’s coverage. Since NA prime could be dominated by EST or PST guilds.
Make it all or nothing. You win the period or you don’t. OR make it a 3 point period where 1st gets 3 points, 2nd gets 2 points, and 3rd gets 1 point per period. However you implement the system then you end up with NA, OCX, SEA, and EU being worth the same. I tend to lean to the 3 points hourly system myself, but any of them would be fine.
Another aspect of breaking it into hourly, or quarterly, blocks would be that servers couldn’t run up a giant score, and then just sit back and wait out the end of the week as easily.
More fights=more fun
More activity=more fun
Less runaway scores = more fun

Really? So you want them to beta PVE stuff and that is it? WvW is a major game mode to many people and some people only play this game mode now.. Why shouldn’t we be aloud to test out these new professions in the game mode we like to play the most?
I don’t see them as unbalanced.. Its all new still and over time people will need to adapt to learn how to counter these new professions.. One way to do that is fight them and learn the moves.
On a side note, I fought many new professions on my old profession and I didn’t die a single time to any new elites.. If it was unbalanced wouldn’t I have died to every new profession?
Conditions should either reveal or not tick at all while in stealth.
If that is the case I shouldn’t be able to be hit by anything when I’m in stealth including any form of cc or skills that channel and still hit me after I stealth..
People can’t leave squads still as of 5 mins ago.. Sorry don’t have more info as I was trying to help someone leave a squad but they couldn’t and said they kept getting an error message They tried /squadleave and also pressing p and leave from there..

I say give it time.
I roamed a lot this weekend and fought a lot of these new professions. Didn’t die to any of them while I was solo roaming. People are still new to them both playing and fighting so you don’t know all the animations just yet to get off that needed dodge when you see a big hit coming. Once you fight and learn some of the moves they will be easier to counter if you are having a problem against them now..
Out of all the ones I fought only reaper kept me on my toes. Rest were just spamming skills and not doing much but its all new and when they actually learn them better it might be a different story.
I tried each of them out but I really think I will be sticking to my non-elite toons in wvw.. They just didn’t do it for me outside of running in a zerg but to me that’s just a spam fest of skills so I don’t really zerg much anymore..

Don’t think it has a huge amount to do with “honour” as such, it is more about fun, if I 5v1 some guy what is the point, there is no fun gameplay, I guess there is a “point” for PvE PPT heroes who think they are protecting a camp or whatever, but for an actual PvPer it is worthless, I’d rather 4 of us stand back and 1 of us do a 1v1, then at least one of us will get a bit of fun.
If enemy wanna fight some 1 vs 1 fights it’s very fun kill him 15 vs 1. It’s even more fun when he whine about it.
I don’t think they whine.. Its more that they laugh at how many bad players it just took to kill them.. I get jumped all the time. I laugh at how many it takes at times. Every single time I get jumped I usually find someone that jumped me and guess what? They are easy kills when they are alone..
On a side note though. Anyone complaining about getting jumped probably shouldn’t be out there alone to begin with or should go to PVP where its more balanced. Its part of this game mode.. Its not a fair game mode

Newsflash for the nub scrubs: Soloing keeps / towers has been done countless times since betas across an extremely wide variety of classes / builds. Most often until now its been done by rangers, thieves and eles, on rare occasions warriors, guards and all the other classes. And he / she doesn’t have to be condi or a mes to pull it off.
On a side note, it does show off a major flaw within the game. Towers and keeps should have never been made soloable. To me towers should be balanced for minimum groups of 5 to take, keeps for 10, castle + gari for 15. Furthermore, the latter cases should drastically scale up with zerg size, just like any equivalent event outside of WVW so these are at bare minimum at least somewhat challenging or seriously time consuming for map blobs.
People already came up with a minimum amount needed to take something.. Its usually 20+
sad sad days..
But it is interesting saying that the only way to deal with them is to run something very similar, just drop your extra stealth for more condi clear and more condi pressure.
That’s just one way to counter them but like others have pointed out the meta has changed so you can adapt and try to counter this new meta or you can run your same builds and die to them.
So if I run a condi mesmer and instead of pu I trait into inspiration is it still considered easy mode? Chances are most will say yes because its condi and mesmer that they do not like..
That’s what I been running to fight off all these so called OP pu mesmers/condi builds that so many complain about. I have no problem killing anything condi that comes my way because I have so much cleanse. PU condi mes.. Not a problem.. Condi thieves.. Not a problem.. Trapper rangers.. Not a problem.. Burn guardians.. Well semi problem but can take some of them. Burn is the OP condi.. The others you just have to use your brain and not kill yourself running or spamming skills.
Now I do feel those builds without a lot of cleanse but sigils of cleansing can be crafted and you will get a cleanse on weapon swap.. It’s annoying right now with so much condis running around but really I been playing builds I don’t usually play just to try to counter them and so far I’m ok.

Someone is only good in his zerg and it isn’t me.. The last part of what you said happens to me all the time and its usually by groups of players that if I caught any single one of them alone they would be the ones dead.

ACs are hated because people that use ACs only use ACs and never fight even if they outnumber you. They just hide in their tower hoping their 111 spam will stop the big mean fight guild and run away when it becomes clear that it won’t.
100% agree. Seen this so many times – even if they outnumber you, they just sit in their upgraded keeps and spam 1 on ACs. I really think, that nerfing ACs will make more interesting fights in structures. I mean real fights, not dull siege spam.
A keep takes a long time to fully upgrade. There should be defensive siege inside them and people using them to protect the upgrades that people payed for. Even towers take a few hours to upgrade. Why should we have less defensive options and make it easier for larger groups to take? A keep shouldn’t be an easy thing to take.

Why do you say that? A few posters were very clear about golems as counters and one even asked for golems to not be purchasable with gold. There was a time in WvW when golem rushes consisted of a zerg of alpha golems. These days a golem rush is 10-20 omegas. And they usually go after the ACs, mortars, cannons first.
The biggest problem I had with the new WvW map beta was that I didn’t get to see how offense and defense performs with a 40-man zerg doing a 10-20 omega golem rush against a defended structure.
You really want to keep going back and forth with me like little school girls? LOL at golems being a counter to acs. Today’s tactic is find an easy objective or move on if its defended. I’m sorry if I never had a problem with ACs until the camera changes.. I guess I just know more tricks than most do.
Roamers are essential for WvW!
First they can easily solo a camp, no need for the entire zerg to be there.
Second they can act as scouts, informing the commander if they see the enemy zerg or a small enemy group trying to sneak to get something.
And of course third, they can take out enemy zerg stragglers. It’s not the roamer’s fault the stragglers fall behind their zerg, it;s your zerg’s for leaving you behind. And if a roamers takes out 2 or 3 stragglers, when that means a couple fewer enemy players in the enemy zerg.
you misunderstand what roamers actually are, they are akin to gvg guilds. they are in wvw but are not actually a part of it. they dont have any interest in the team aspect of wvw and you are confusing them with havoc players.
this topic is why so many of us miss the old days in the obsidian sanctum. there was a complex map lay out perfect for stalking prey, bait at the end to lure in noobs but no other goal besides kill other players.
its the format that matters, just like spvp want to fight over the sumo rings, gvg wants TDM, the wvw player (does not care much about PPT contrary to popular belief) just wants to fight over towers/keeps in a defender vs attacker scenario.
the roamer wants fair and random as part of their scenario but with out objective. the border land ruins were created for this and they are used occasionally. as many other posters have observed the class imbalances are causing the decline.
I think the desert bl maps will provide a format the roamers will enjoy. everyone is hoping HoT saves this game.
LOL what? I solo roam and most of that is taking camps to you know help my server. The rest is reacting to swords on the map and scouting the enemy zergs. I flip things like merc camps that no one else seems to want to flip and zergs just run through them but could have flipped it 10x faster then I can. I tap gates when we are hitting a big objective to throw off the enemy. Saying roamers do nothing for the server is nonsense and nothing more.
Don’t confuse pvp’ers as roamers.. I get jumped all the time and its just part of solo roaming. The people that want fair fights are playing the wrong game mode.

What’s bothering me is your inattention to what others are saying to you regarding how arrow carts affected fights and how attackers ended up zerging/blobbing more to counter. It is something that has been known for over two years now. How long have you been playing this game? Maybe you unfortunately have only known the WvW meta that came after the buffs to AC.

If a structure was defended, sieged up and upgraded by just a few people, any group smaller than 20 would find it more or less impossible to take. How is that a good thing?
I’m going to just LOL at this.. I’d say those less than 20 players only know how to ram gates, can’t double dodge ac fire if they got in and probably are lost without a commander tossing their siege.
Thanks for pointing out that higher tiers can’t take anything with less than 20 since its impossible with less.

If you want to find people to fight, find people to fight. If you can’t draw an enemy zerg out of a tower while they sit on acs, learn how to do so to get your fights.
You probably won’t even get any more fights either. People will realize that the acs are useless in certain spots now so once gate drops they’ll wp out.. Happens already. If people do not want to fight they will not fight..
The change was suppose to be for acs shooting over walls. Now acs can barely shoot down when they are on top of the wall. The opposite happened.
That’s not what this fix was suppose to do.
People with good arguments don’t have to put words in their opponents’ mouths.
Nobody has a good argument that is defending the change besides they want to take easier objectives and any sort of challenge slows down the k-train.
