Considering that the beta for the new maps was basically just a publicity stunt, and they ignored all of the feedback from the beta testers, this doesn’t bode well for the future of WvW.
The old feedback thread is archived. I got bored today so I decided to go and read it. To my surprise the feedback was all mixed feedback. I was expecting it to be all negative feedback since so many keep saying the same thing that no one likes anything we got. Apparently some people did like it and gave positive feedback..
If you really only like massive fights I do not think BnS will be what you are looking for. I did one beta and the pve is your normal pick up as many quests as you can, run around do them, then turn them in for rewards type of game. PvP as far as I know is 1vs1 and 3vs3 and it does have open world pvp but it has to do with the outfits.
As I was running around in low level zones I noticed higher level players camping around outside of those areas probably to pick off low level players. WoW ringing a bell to anyone? I didn’t even get into the pvp though so not even sure how fun or not it is. Its a different type of game more like a fighting style game that has to do with landing combos.
It was pretty fun as it was just something different and I’d say for a free game its worth a shot to try out. I actually have a little over an hour of the beta I did if you want to see what the pve is all about

I did make some females to try them out but I never recorded them. Some outfits you get some nice views while gliding if you know what I mean

Yea just what this game mode needs. More people to move to EoTM.
Removing EoTM and maybe you will get more players into WvW. As long as EoTM is here I don’t see populations every getting fixed.
There are even roaming EoTM videos popping up now of players farming uplevels in outnumbered fights and they think they are actually good roamers.. EoTM is what has turned this game mode and some players into a brainless k-trainers if you ask me..
That’s a good point man, it’s probably what they all want us to do secretly. Just give up and mindless spam 1 in eotm. The eotm roaming videos are a joke mixed with Korean rock music that sounds like a 12 year old school girl talking really fast and some dork playing mesmer with extreme close ups with something called senpie or senpork.

I’m not sure what tier you are in but I would suggest T5/T6 for roaming if you play early/mid day NA. Outside of prime time there are, or were, lots of roamers and small scale fighting mostly in EBG. BL’s used to have roamers before HoT but when I used to roam down there I mainly roamed in EBG as the BL’s were sometimes just as empty as the new ones are. The zergs do come out to play around prime time though but you can still roam around and find others doing the same thing..
Since I moved to t1 I do miss the roaming but really I’m starting to see them more the more I play. I may even have to mastermind a new roaming build soon and venture out solo again lol. They too have players that like to duel outside of SM but it is just a lot harder because they usually have some sort of zergs running around the maps. I really didn’t like it much when I first came here cause I grew out of the 1 spam a long time ago but in a way I’m starting to actually have some fun again.
Not sure if it is still the same down there now but I do still have friends and followers down there and when I check my lists they are usually online and in wvw..
keep the pve gliding bullkitten out of wvw

I kind of like the idea as maybe a guild decoration. If they did add something like this you’d probably have to farm the items from the bosses to make the decorations.

If you search guild wars 2 on imdb there is a big list of voice actors.. Not sure how outdated it is as I couldn’t find anything for Ruka but it is nice to see the faces of those behind the voices that we all love.

they could have left wvw alone and not updated it since 2013 or even 2014, and most of the playerbase would still be here, having fun, loving the gamemode still.
It’s not a bugfix/update or even new content when you break something that nobody wanted changed.
I said something similar but when I did some players jumped on me because I didn’t see wvw in such a bad shape that so many others seemed to have seen it. Yea it had its issues and problems but most of use just learned to live with it and still made the best out of it.
I think one of the big issues is that now more wvw bugs are in place and it looks like those bugs will be around for a long time. If anet actually fixed some of the older wvw bugs in a decent amount of time, more people would have faith that anet can fix what we have now.
I still get broken spoons every once in awhile. They made a change that if you got the spoon in the past, you now get a broken spoon. They sure do not drop as much as they did before though as it has been a few weeks since I’ve even seen a broken spoon..
Lots of players in the past used to ask for guild only tags so only the guild members would be able to see it. From that we got multiple colored tags and it was still asked for even after colors were added.
Anet then makes an expansion and adds another tag to pve called a mentor tag. I haven’t really seen the wvw’ers ask for the guild tag in a long time but that could be because guilds are losing players so most people are now just pugs now.
Good idea but if they can’t figure out how to just give players guild tags, I don’t think they will figure out how to give players just a party or squad tag..

There are videos of this guy in WvW building useless siege and wasting supplies because there were achievements for it. Since anet changed the wvw achievements to be easier to get, looks like he has them all from wvw and has moved on to another game mode to farm them..

So WvW, my favorite part of the game, won’t have an attempted fix until later this year (if that).
With that in mind, are there other games out there that have a good form of WvW? The only one with which I’m somewhat familiar is ESO.
Keep an eye on CU and hope for the best.
I’ll be watching CU. Also, I might buy Witcher 3 in the meantime.
Oh, and Pinterest. There’s always Pinterest.
You get about 200 hours out of witcher 3. 10 more hours from the DLC that I think was about 9 bucks but once you do everything there is not much to do really. I enjoyed it and tried to play through it again on a harder level but never finished it a second time.

Yeah don’t think I said anything about T1 being dead. But just because NA prime timezone is blobby, doesn’t mean WvW is in a healthy state, especially with banner & trigger abuse. NA primetime have always been blobby on NA T1 servers.
But there used to be action during EU, now it’s just havocs ppting. There are also other tier servers that are really ghost towns, the fact that servers have fallen from full to very high, and very high to high, etc.. shows it well.
People are just bored and many stuck around this long for that good news, you know since they promised WvW being their main focus after HoT launch. Many threw their hands up in the air yesterday after reading Colin’s blog post about how WvW revamp won’t be until later this year. Heck not even the revamp, they simply said they’ll start the beta of the revamp later this year.

T1 is still alive because almost everyone transferred there. For me anyway the game is dead ever since the GvG guilds left the game. The fights there are now are just so borrring.
I hear ya and that could be it.. There was actually a recent post from someone from t8 that total shocked me because they said they are having fun down there LOL
I do miss the days of the guilds running around.. I was always a casual pugster lol but I’ve tagged along with many guild groups in the past and I learned a lot just by following them around. Now its usually just a massive blob fight which sometimes is fun but I really used to live for smaller scaled fights.
Curse you Anet, your state of the game update have pretty much made people in the guilds I run with download other games. They’re now branching into other games, and we all know that simply leads to less GW2 playtime, and less money spent in GW2…and eventually guilds breaking up because people are going to be playing everything other than GW2. We’re now losing commander coverage on a T1 server due to lack of fights & action, and players are dropping like flies in multiple guilds. Amazing how you could do all that with 1 post. People seriously expected better, people thought you were going to finally give us some good news with WvW. People thought big changes were coming soon, as in Q1 2016…not end of the year 2016. People stuck around for the good news, only to be disappointed yet again.
This is pretty sad, even if the overhaul is good there won’t be anyone left to play it.

I’m sure it has died down a lot but I don’t see it dying off anytime soon. Guess it depends on the time you play. I’m NA east coast and play a lot. I only notice a few hours out of the day that there is down time. BL’s been getting attacked a lot more this week than previous weeks. Prime time is still blob city in EBG and when I log off after midnight the blobs are still going..
I think anet just ignores every post that claims this game mode is dead because people have been saying it for a long time. (actually they ignore way more than just that wth am I saying)
Anyway if it dies it dies.. All games come to an end eventually. I almost quit myself. I don’t know what it is but I just keep coming back after taking a week or so break then I’m back to putting in more hours than I should..

So basically I see PPK not making much of a difference. Just think, instead of watching 2 zergs fight it out because you don’t have the numbers to join in, all you need to do is tag a bunch of the players from both sides so when the other zergs kill each other, you’ll be making points for your server as well.
No it’s one point for one kill, well not necessarily kill – it’s linked to the death. The rules were posted back when the event was up and does a good job of preventing the side with larger numbers mechanically having the advantage. Its not necessarily a system that takes care of population imbalance etc it simply favours people who successfully fight outnumbered.
In the grand scheme of things concerning people who hide in large groups and towers the points development won’t show any big difference (it won’t cause a snowball but simply continue the non-PPK expected point spread assuming both sides don’t have enough players who successfully fight outnumbered).

I am super excited about this. It sounds like we’ll have to earn it though. I’m wondering whether it’s an HoT track beyond Leyline Gliding, or if it’s at the end of an existing Pact Tyria track, or if its on its own track.

If you’ve trained the Glider Basics Mastery in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, your glider will let you glide a bit further…all the way back to Central Tyria. Your glider will work in any open-world map or city in Central Tyria once you’ve earned this Mastery ability.
So as long as you’ve trained basic gliding in HoT (and who hasn’t) you’ll be able to glide in Tyria
They really need to fix the dh 5 skill. The problem I see with it is more than half the time you don’t see the little fence and the second you try to move, you constantly get knocked back down. You use some stunbreaker to get out of it only to move into the next invisible wall. If only there was some sort of, you know red circle like pretty much every other skill, it would be easier to move out of it and not just move right into the next invisible wall.
At least now I’ll be able to use my glider again. I got tired of the HoT maps a long time ago.

BnS has open world pvp but it depends on what outfit you put on. Basically some are hostile to other players when you wear them so expect to be camped by high level players in low level zones lol I only got into one beta and never even realized it had to do with the outfits until someone in chat had mentioned it. Found out the hard way as I was selling stuff to some NPC and some guy just comes up and killed me.
So does anyone know what those spinning things above towers do? In a way we may get gliding as it actually looks like something that would stop players from gliding into towers by pushing them away if they tried to glide in. I don’t really see a need for gliding as it will just make people run, jump off some edge and glide away from fights.

That’s guild upgrades, the one spinning is the Watch-balloon while the ballistas are the auto-turret guild upgrade.

ppk has been asked for for a very long time. Not sure where OP has been and there is even a thread about it where lots of players gave feedback. Don’t take what I say the wrong way as I’m just as frustrated as everyone else but when post like this come up it looks like not even the wvw’ers would every agree on any change made..

That’s called Megaserver… Been in place for almost two years in all areas of the game except wvw…

Megaserver separated things as did EOTM – but the megaserver did something much worse to WvW than EOTM ever did, – we lost the privacy of being able to make a valid and working “map call” – and there ends the real and valid WvW as we knew it before the crappy and loathsome Megaserver.
Can’t win them all. Can’t have empty maps either in pve or wvw.
I’m sure alliances and “population balance” and megaserver tech will help.
I don’t have faith in the devs in many areas and you can look at my post history for that, but I do have faith in the devs on this wvw stuff now that CU is becoming reality. I love game company competion, it kicks devs in the backside to get off their laurels lol… Doesn’t mean I’m not disappointed in their performance so far, though, but I believe better things will happen for wvw in fear of looking bad when CU is released…
Sorry but CU has if I’m not mistaking a monthly fee to play. That right there is the reason why I will not be moving to that game and I have no interest in it at all. Me personally, I would rather ride the sinking ship in this game till the end then fork over monthly fees in some other game that will likely just be over hyped and in the end it will be a letdown.
Ok. That’s your personal right, but I’m not talking about us as individuals, I’m talking about the big picture. If you understood the history behind the creators of CU, and what is coming in comparison to what is offered in our wvw, you’d get a different perspective on the whole thing. Also, having a monthly access fee or not, has zero to do with anything.
Competition produces results here, and it’s that very same competition that forces devs to make changes to GW2, not our begging and pleading and feedback.

Your really expecting any kind of real change to WvW today? To my knowledge this is just a bug/class balance patch. I expect NOTHING in the way of WvW changes.
I don’t even think it will be a balance patch since Jan 15th they are having another stream to talk about all the upcoming balance changes. Plus there is a pvp league and esports going on as well so I wouldn’t expect any balance changes until those are over..
In addition to it critically hitting people for 16k and non crit hit for 12.

Too many relied on stability. It was broken if you ask me. I don’t see why you should be able to stack it and pretty much ignore every single cc the game throws at you.
Just sucks that instead of players adapting by doing what some others have said they would rather have staring matches and ranged fights. You can still stack and push and win fights but its harder now since it seems the players that had no fear of dying are replaced by those that think if they die in a game they might die IRL.

Same people in every thread pushing same ideas… Megaserver in pve is nothing but blob content and spamming skills. I used to like to take down world bosses with my guild before megaserver. After megaserver we all ended up on different maps and I just stopped going to them. Actually did jormag for the wintersday achievements after not doing bosses in so long and it was a lagfest of mentor tags.
If megaserver is so great why are there so many empty HoT maps? Why do I need to get taxi’ed into one of the few maps that gets full and if I don’t get a taxi I’m placed on one of the endless dead maps? There are more dead maps than full maps and it should be the other way around if you ask me. Why are new maps created when other maps haven’t been filled yet? Megaserver is broken technology if you even want to call it technology..
Bet its locked behind some epic journey of grinding adventures and jumping puzzles.
