Actually, I have a better question: What would you have liked to have seen in the patch?

Every profession nerfed except the one I play now.. If I change profession I want that one buffed and other one nerfed..

Why am I getting chat messages every time my armor takes damage? I turned off misc and inventory yet still get the message. Next time you add a bunch of chat options how about having them off instead of on by default.

Second time right after the patch was a bit laggy, couldn’t even deploy glider using the pads at times

Also sometimes when you glide you have normal skills and no bombs to drop.

You always need to get in the first prime map. Any after that is going to be lopsided for a bit. I’m still in with 1 hour left and it’s been non stop fighting and some capping along the way.

You just need to work the system if you’re going to run EotM. You can’t just pop in anytime and get a decent map.

Edit: I have 8 champ bags, not much farming.

I was more just being a skritt with what I said above as I’ve leveled a bunch of alts in EoTM and know that some maps are better than others. Its pretty much just like the new HoT maps.. You either get a good map or stuck in bad ones till the events reset :P

  • EOTM has been abused since implementation. Most people probably haven’t experienced it as it was intended. I encourage and all guilds and communities to show them. Butcher them!

If people wanted to wvw instead of EOTM they would. They’re not there for a reason. If you remove EOTM, there’s no guarantee they’ll go to WvW.

  • If you had watched the preshow from Friday’s live stream (22nd January 2016), you would have seen Reyana explain why people are going to EOTM – because WvW is so quiet at the moment, a Catch 22 situation.
  • I think it’s time people stopped pretending that EOTM is it’s own game-type. It isn’t.

*Eotm is fun and fast paced.

*Lots of player interaction and combat.

*Great for beginners and experienced players.

*Great for solo or group players looking for action.

*Eotm was popular upon release, nothing new.

*WvW problems are dev development problems sorry. Time for y’all to stop making excuses…

*I played WvW up until the last tournament and it’s boring as all get out compared to eotm… Better map than what wvw has to offer too, and more conducive to encourage fighting and making it to objectives in time to catch the enemy or defend…

I just came from a QQ EoTM map with players mad because they got wiped. Commander rage quit because of all the QQ. Players were leaving to find a new instance that they were not getting farmed in… Best wvw experience I ever had in all my game time. NOT

I was going to stream a full 3 hours of k-training but the first 10 minutes showed me it is not even worth it..

And I’ve been on plenty of maps with great commanders and great competition…

Go tag up and stream it, let’s see your wvw leadership skills in action…

I don’t know that map like you guys do.. Do I really want to run players off an edge while I’m looking at the map? All I will do is slow down the k-train and make people mad. I come here to make people mad.. In game I’m different and would rather not make people mad..

Tag up and take a leadership role on a map without a commander or wait until reset… Capture objectives, find and kill the enemies, bag farm the enemies… Go lead and win the zone with the highest points… Set the tone and players will follow your command.

Set up your stream and I may even join your squad depending on time and you can lead me too…

You know how some people don’t like the new BL’s? That’s how I feel about the EoTM map.. I prefer desert bl to that one lol

Immobilized after dodge or movement skill

This has been happening for a while now. It even happened to me several times during the PVP league which didn’t sit well with my team as I was just standing there getting beat on.. Basically when you use a movement skill or even dodge, you get stuck in place at times. Sometimes using a movement skill again such as a leap fixes it but not always. The only thing I know that fixes it is to use some sort of emote but that is hard when people are beating on you.

Made video of it happening and this was the third time it happened within 2 hours of game play..

Oh I think you’re talking about map cap size… TBH I’m not sure what it is but I’d say its around that number. Anet may have stated what it was in the past since I recall a thread about it but I really don’t remember what was said..

If EoTM is “stealing WvW players”, by that same logic EB is stealing players from the borders (120+ queue on EB, none on borders on reset). Remove EB and WvW population balance is magically fixed! Or something like that.

I doubt any server has a 120 queue anymore. This was from the last reset about 1 hour afterwards. Also you can’t steal players from your own server when they are on different maps because they do generate points for the server no matter what map they are on. Unlike when players go to EoTM they generate zero points for their server.

Scared to fight in wvw where it actually matters? Once ppk comes into play EoTM will get even more players because why give points to the other servers by dying? Just go to the one game mode where nothing you do matters at all.. I’ve never been killed by an up-level so no this is not the reason I prefer wvw over upleveled map blobs..

WvW actually matters? Hah! It’s full of gimmicks and empty timezones. It’s practically dead except for NA prime, even that is pretty weak.

Now that WvW is the new testing ground, full of banner “nukes” and airstrike “nukes”, people actually go eotm for sandbox fights.

Yup, and those players who prefer to fight and are not afraid to fight, go to eotm where its harder to avoid a fight. Eotm is far less gimmicky than wvw and there is a heck of a lot more action too…

And sorry, some of you wvw players may like breaking down 2-3 sets of barriers for ten minutes to make it to objectives and like getting 5 badges of honor an hours… some of us just love more fighting and fast paced heart pounding action…

Eotm is the master now!

Pretty sure most wvw’ers do not like the new stuff added in the BL’s either. Just because EoTM doesn’t have them doesn’t mean we like them in the current wvw maps.. Hey we got banners nerfed so it is a start.. Maybe barriers next?

I find these threads highly amusing. Who are you to say that EoTM should go away just so your preferred game mode is better for you? Thats like saying they should get rid of all HOT, Shiverpeaks, Mauuma, TC and Orr PvE zones so people can just all play in Ascalon zones ‘for better population’, cause i like that zone better.

And looking at the populations of both WvW and EotM, you could deduce that the EoTM folks greatly outnumber the WvW folks. EoTM is doing something right.

If you really cared about WvW, you’d be giving ideas on how to enhance it, not nerfing/getting rid of other game modes that do not meet with your approval. But for some reason, many WvW folks have got this ego thing when it comes to EoTM. Maybe is due to out of game communication not having as great of effect in pug groups and theey get steamrolled too much. Or maybe they are are deathly afraid that an uplevel will destroy them and they wont be able to look at themselves in the mirror for a couple of weeks due to the shame. Maybe they brought all their guildies, stepped into EoTM expecting a rofl stomp, and realized they were still out numbered 5 to 1 and got their butts handed to them… Or maybe, just maybe, that the skill level is so high in WvW these days, that many of the WvWers cannot get easy kills anymore, and they are trying ANYTHING to get the PVE/EoTM folks in there to pad their kill stats and pump their little egos…

I agree with this. Especially the bolded part. I DO think it’s fear of getting wrecked that keeps some of these wvw “only” players away from eotm…

EoTM took players from WvW. It did more harm than it did good for those few servers that had high queues. Before EoTM people would wait around in wvw for someone to rally players up. After EoTM players do not wait to be rallied anymore they just go to EoTM instead. Your server is doing bad and losing this week? That’s ok, just go to EoTM instead. Before EoTM all the k-trainers used to try and take over certain maps. Now they just k-train in EoTM instead.

and swagger I stopped commanding a long time ago when anet made it harder for me to rally players on my server. First they took away calling out for help in cities, then they gave us EoTM map so now not many wait around anymore to be rallied.

Anet cares about the health of their game mode so much that they can’t give us private guild tags but they don’t see that things they have done were unhealthy to wvw to begin with. Population have dropped since EoTM came into play and now with the new BL its the same thing.

Every WvW “incentive” you have added is available in EOTM.
EOTM was introduced so people would have something to play while waiting in queue for WvW. Now there are no queues. Well, there MIGHT be a queue on EB and homeborder at the same time, but it still leaves 2 more borders for them to play while waiting in queue for EB. EOTM has outlived it’s usefuless. It doesn’t even serve as a testing ground anymore. All that EOTM does now is stealing players from WvW in huge numbers. And not because it’s better, but because it’s much easier to farm.
My server didn’t have a commander in WvW, but EOTM had a commander from my server, from a guild that’s supposed to be WvW-focused. Why? Because it allowed him to rankfarm those memories and proofs with zero resistance.
Why play WvW at all if you can have everything you need via PVE-like rankfarm in EOTM?

The gamemode isn’t struggling with numbers, all those numbers are in EOTM. Lots and lots of them.

I know this problem was mentioned before, but now it’s more critical than ever.

Remove EOTM. Or cut out every WvW-specific reward out of EOTM so people won’t farm WvW rewards and WvW dailies in PVE.

Or don’t touch EOTM and remove WvW instead. One of them has to go so the other can live in peace.

Yes, let’s blame eotm for your dev neglected wvw troubles…

Some players prefer eotm because of the fast paced nature and reward pace and more frequent encounters…

Some players like the slower paced and more coordination required and more tactical nature of wvw.

Some players like both.

Both can coexist.

Killing one will not increase or improve the other one, or force players to play either.

And the very fact that eotm is more popular is a clue that more players like that playstyle better… Go figure huh?

When I read threads like this, I am reminded that some of you feel some sense of superiority for some reason. Being a wvw players doesn’t give anyone the license to diminish other players or playstyles in any way…

“Megaserver” is a map mechanic. Surely you can differentiate between a 4 map game mode that counts toward ppt and has different objectives and will have competitive tournaments verses a 1 map eotm that ppt numbers do not count toward regular and tournament wvw scoring?

I sincerely hope you can understand the differences right?

No, I think you should look up the differences between megaserver, wvw and eotm. They are all separate things.

Also, the devs are working on “population balance” for the big update, so it will be some type of megaserver or alliance system. There are obvious population disparities, to ignore that fact is unfortunate and unhealthy for wvw.

No need to look them up when I’ve been on this ride long enough to see how each of them effected players and game modes. EoTM should go bye bye. Its the newer type of game mode and it is not even being used for what it was created for. ANet doesn’t have man power to update the 3 game modes that came with game so no need for another game mode called EoTM to take the place of one of the original game modes.

Why would you want to want to interrupt a duel? Does it make you feel good that you can kill somebody in 2v1 situation? Or are you after the rewards? 2 spikes in your inventory make you happy?

I always taunt my teammates when they ruin those 1v1 fights.

Not everyone has been around a long time. Not everyone can tell a duel from players fighting it out. Not everyone that goes into wvw realizes that some people don’t just run around capping things. Takes time to figure these things out.

Some people respect others, others don’t care and see red = dead.. Both are fine IMO because this is WvW and its never been a fair game mode. If you want to duel in open spots you should already know you might get adds in your fights..

I’ve grown to respect others as they tend to do the same thing back. Not all the time. If I pass duelers and wave, chances are if I lose my zerg they will let me pass again to get back to my zerg. If I jump in on a duel, chances are I’ll be focused on every map LOL

OP just might be new to this game mode and not yet realize that some people have friendly duels.

Also I can say the same thing about solo roamers and other guild roamers.. Why do so many roaming guilds jump just me when I’m solo roaming? Does it make you feel good to 5vs1 me? Or were you after your1 spike. :P

isn’t this close to dire stats but with an extra kick? whats going to happen is condi builds will run this and be able to tank hits yet still put out high condi damage. That’s one of the biggest complaints in the past about dire condi pu mesmers builds in wvw.. Yea I know this isn’t wvw forums but I do pvp sometimes and see this as being the new amulet for tanky condi builds. I’ve messed with dire on necro, thief and mesmer and they all get hated on equally lol

Anyone except for necros is going to be “tanky” with 560 thoughness, and especially not mesmers! Those stats arent even near whats needed to be tanky while on mesmer, atleast not while running condi! Do you even mesm lol!

Necros is getting buffed further and it kinda sucks, since they already to tanky while having way to much chills! Atleast we can lol at em from range, and wait for scroud to end, and then finish them!

I will just deal with it, and iam sure they will get their nerfs next patch! As I already stated, we cannot balance the game and the new amulets around broken necro reapers! And mesmers is going to need that amulet this patch, since condi is a must for us to deal with thieves!

I actually do mesmer. Maybe I just experiment more instead of picking a meta build.. Problem with condi builds and this amulet that I see is you don’t have to sacrifice your condi damage by having 2 defensive stats.. Unlike power builds where you have to sacrifice some of your offensive stats if you pick up defensive stats.

use soldiers as an example for now ( i know its being removed). power/toughness/vit you lose dps just by picking this amulet.. Now if dire was a thing with its 3 stat condi/toughness/vit you don’t really lose much damage when your main damage comes from condi.

Sorry I’m not best at explaining things but I hope you see what I was trying to get at.. This is just my opinion though but I don’t think this will be sticking around very long..

This just further proves that the new borderlands are an epic fail. EBG alone has many times more kills than all the 3 BL maps combined. Surely somebody will once again come to defend the new BLs “players just need to adopt to it”, but think if Valve would remove all the existing CounterStrike maps and replace them with something totally different, lots of verticality and places to fall to your death, enviromental hazards, full of pve, complexity, massively large and takes 10+ minutes to find the first enemy, how would the players react?

Also it shows the huge population and activity difference between different tiers.

If only had pre HoT stats to compare. BL’s were not very active for some tiers pre HoT for a long time. Its true the new map made that worse for some tiers. I spent a lot of time in bronze and I mostly hung around in EBG map since it was just easier and faster to find people to fight..

No confidence in coming Overhaul

WvW is literally a ghost town. It’s gotten quieter over the weeks, to the point where it’s just empty. It’s so disappointing, because WvW was the thing I was wanting to do most in GW2.

The PvE gets stale after you get lvl 80, finish the story and do the lvl 80 zones a few times. sPvP, well I don’t think I need to even mention anything about that. The PvP forum is all you need to look at there.

I just logged out after running around EB for a bit. There was about 3 other players that I saw in Map Chat. I hate to say it, but there’s little reason for me to play the game any more. WvW doesen’t seem to be an option in the game, as there’s no players there to actually make the mode work.

What you want you might just get if you transfer. Your statement I could see when servers were locked being an issue but now that every server is open there is nothing stopping you from moving to a more populated server besides farming gold in pve..

I just don’t get why the first option is always to not play because nobody else is playing when you can transfer first and see that people actually do still play. There has to be other issues you have with the game if the reason you are not playing is because maps are empty..

What do you think? Hammer revenant nerf was basically nothing. That skill would be OP even on 10s CD if they don’t nerf the damage. I hope they will at least change Cruel Repercussion.

It is hitting with big numbers on bunker builds so anything semi glass has it even worse. The 2 hit bug doesn’t matter when 1 hit is enough to down most glass builds.

I’ve tried it out zerging. I giggle at times when I push button 2 and see big numbers but I think the giggle is more of how OP it is. I don’t even need a target to pick. I just push 2 and watch the numbers on my screen.

First issue is that it keeps disappearing off of my face and I have to uncheck/recheck it in the hero panel for it to show again.

caught it happening when it seemed I took damage but tested on jumping damage and could not duplicate.

Wow I can’t believe the amount of stupidity and doom-saying BS in this thread.

It looks like 90% of people in this thread are not even aware that we already had PPK system in the end of 2014. It worked great. The PPK points summed up to be about 45-55% of the total server score at the end of the week. So imo, perfectly fair, or it should actually be even more. I’d rather reward killing players over karma rotation of paper towers and keeps.

Back then no one abused anything. If anyone will waste time trying to abuse that, lol, glhf making a difference to a score that basically means nothing at all.

You people really should relax a bit.

It really depends what tier you are in.

I was there for the test and I was in bronze. It didn’t impact the scores what so ever as far as I could see down there. Servers with more numbers and coverage still one. 45%- 55% of score sounds a little high to me but I hate math so I’ll just take your word for it.

I’m all for it but really I don’t see it changing much at this point. I only see it making a difference on the tiers that are close in numbers and coverage and lets face it there are not many tiers that are close in numbers and coverage..

They are afraid that WvW will turn into Maps where you have giant Guild blobs running around unseen by the lowly pugs whose only wish is to enjoy part of what makes wvw so much fun.

So it’s basically a case of them… right or wrong… discouraging anti-social behavior on the part of guilds. The Dev reply in this thread practically screams what I just said.

Yep it’s supposed to be an entire server having fun playing together. They are trying to cater to these guilds still. They give them arena’s and even adjust the costs after guilds asked them to.. Give them a big ring in the obsidian sanctum.. but nothing seems good enough. All they get for their efforts is boycotts and more anti social behavior.

There are so many type of players in this game mode and you seem to be thinking every WvW guild only wants to have death match type of fights in some arena. Good to know what you really think about the wvw guilds on your server.

Guard true shot would have done the same numbers. Only thing CoR had on other classes big damage skills was the double hit (and low cd I suppose). But all that has been fixed now.

ok then true shot needs damage nerf as well..

I hit like a wet noodle on this toon since I’m sacrificing my DPS so I don’t get hit by big numbers yet still do.

I’m excluded from ever getting legendary armor because its locked behind pve and raids… Wish anet would stop excluding me from getting legendary armor by making a way to be able to get it in the one game mode that I actually enjoy. WvW

Who needs stat changing legendary armor more? The pve’ers that mainly run full zerker everything or the wvw players that after the meta changes have to buy/craft more gear just to keep up?

I’m with you and this one.. You can’t attack why gliding so why would people even ask for it when most people want to fight other players. Gliding is just another tool to get away from fighting lol

Well the revamped Shatterer world boss in PVE will indeed have people attacking from their gliders, with players literally going on “bombing runs” while flying over it. So I doubt it would take that much to implement a new set of skills which become available only when gliding, much like underwater combat. Hell, I just about guarantee we’ll eventually see flying combat in this game… particularly if ANET figures they can make a buck for it.

I still think there should be a guild only tag. Give it a different icon like the mentor tags got. It would work for pve as well. It would just make it easier for guilds rally to do things on there own. This is guild wars and yet there is really no options for guilds to do there own thing if they throw up a tag. People see tags on the maps and they flock to them. In pve there are sometimes multiple tags on a map and sometimes more tags equal more confusion, even in wvw.

Its more of an easier way to let guilds do there own thing when they want to only do guild raids. Most guilds only raid a few hours and afterwards some people continue to play and others tag up to pug command when the raids are over.. Yes ctrl t works but you have to keep re-applying it if you have to call targets on other things. More of a QoL thing really..

Here is a pve SS.. Which tag am I suppose to follow I have no clue. Now if I had a guildie tagged up and only I could see the tag, since I’m in the same guild, I’d know exactly where to go on the map instead of asking which tag are we following..

But I have no clue what character should be it.

I was thinking Engineer more because I can set up defensive turrets or summon a mortar. But sadly I have a feeling the image in my head of how cool that will be is not aligned with the reality of the game.
So I guest I am looking for advice on how best to do a WvW only character and some pros and cons of the various classes. I tend to play more of a support role in rpgs so probably nothing front line.

Sadly I do not have the expansion yet so any of the new stuff is out.

Do not get the expansion. Especially if you’re only getting it for WvW. The game mode is pretty much dead and won’t last much longer. Plus, do you really want to support their new P2W model?

Also, you might want to try out some WvW before leveling up a new character. The fact that you think defensive turrets are helpful indicates your idea of WvW might not be aligned with how WvW is played.

There are so many other threads for you to post your opinions in. He asked for help for a build not your opinions on the state of the game or the xpac

10 pm eastern last night in T1. I was shocked when I clicked B to pick a map lol

Since every tier is open I really have to ask why people are not transferring to get the wvw experience they are looking for. If it has to do with gold that’s one thing as yes it is expensive to move as a wvw’er but it seems most people are just not playing anymore when they could farm enough gold in pve to move and maybe find what they are looking for.

I know in the lower tiers a lot of people stick around for the communities and it is hard to leave all the friendships you’ve built but then I read posts that say people are not logging in and playing so you are really losing your friendships anyway by not playing.

I know free transfer did more harm in the past but at this point and with so many people from each tier saying this game mode is dead, I don’t see any more harm being done if they allowed free transfers. It could lead to server stacking again but that’s a problem created by players in my eyes.

Some people want anet to step in and fix the the imbalanced match ups but I think players should also be trying to fix it and something like free transfers every few months could help. It could make it worse but at this point can it get any worse?

Anyways that’s just an idea off the top of my head and I still have mixed feelings about it lol

I’m just curious that with the shape that wvw is in right now, if anet did do free transfers would you take the offer and move or would you still stay where you are?

Guild only tag would be useful even in PVE!! (lets see if that works) Sometimes you want other people to follow you but other times you just want your guildies. Way it is right now you only have the option to have others follow you. Just want another option for guidies only.
