If I recall correctly Colin said that the culling fix took an entire year of work for one of their senior engineers.
That means either he just made coffee breaks 75% of the time or something about their code is severely broken which makes changes take for ever.

He also said that it took them 5 years to develop WvW. 5 years? Seriously? And what launched was a culling, lagfest nightmare consisting of 2 maps? Whoever was in charge of that and worked on that needs to never be in the industry again if that’s what came out of 5 years worth of work. It takes about 1.5 to 2 years to make a multi-million dollar movie.

I would like to say I’ve seen a lot of “the sky is falling” comments. This last patch helped a lot by getting rid of automatic upgrades and nerfing the banner.

Creating a video games and making movies are the same thing? I’m sure it takes way longer to create a video game then it does to get some actors to act in front of a green screen for a couple of takes.

Upgrade timer back but increase time

Hi all i want to make a suggestion to put upgrade timer back for camps towers keeps and sm, but increase the time needed for second and third upgrade with one or 2 hours more.

I think this works better for all.

No thanks because the yaks will do nothing again and the roamers can’t go around and stop enemy objectives from getting upgraded.

So depressing when people come to the forums to complain that the old stab was too powerful because a small group could take down a large group. You whiners are responsible for removing the incentive for coordinated, skilled gameplay from wvw and replacing it with this mindless pirate ship meta. Happy now? If a 5-man group killed your whole zerg, it is because they were better than you. Last time I checked, we all have equal access to builds.

Players are responsible for the pirate ship meta because many think you can not push without stab. Its time to learn to fake push so they blow their bombs first then push, bringing back portal bombs, double dodging the first push and hitting the backlines, veils to go around and flank, or cutting the zerg in half to get rid of some of the numbers. Instead people would rather stand around and range instead of coming up with some new tactics or I should say old tactics that not many use anymore..

You must be really dumb if you believe True Shot is balanced….

It would be just fair to nerf True Shot, since they did the same to Revenant Hammer 2 (Coalescence of Ruin),

Like increasing cooldown to 8-10 Seconds
and/or
reduce damage ratio.

yet the nerf to the cooldown of CoR did nothing for it hitting like a truck.

Friday Reset?

Personally, I doubt it. I also doubt that they’ll ever look at their metrics. The silence for months has been telling. I’m just not sure what they gained by moving it to Saturday – unless they wanted unsatisfied customers?

They gained not messing up reset night due to patches. A short time before reset got changed there was a patch 10 minutes after wvw reset and a thread pop up shortly after of a bunch players were complaining about patches on reset night. So you see they moved it because of all those that complained about a patch on reset night that only happened once in a blue moon.

I haven’t made many resets since the change though so I do wish it would be changed back.

Just turn off Oasis

Without fail the oasis causes map wide lag. Been the same kitten since HoT launch. Just turn it off and its guild weeklys till a fix is found.

While I have seen videos of the laggy oasis event, I have done it several times, fought over the event and never seen the lag that others seem to be getting. I will say though that the new map makes my video card scream at times(can hear the fans speeding up), most of that I think comes from the dust effects. The new map seems to make my computer work harder and run hotter than it ever did before..

I did the new HoT content first on my core builds even before they made it easier. I still run some core builds in all 3 game modes..

It was too easy to troll both making pointless rams and choosing bad upgrades.

and now we have to wait for 40 dolyaks to arrive at a tower, and the supply sitting there does nothing.

Not realy relevant to stopping ppl from trolling teams but i will bit. You can use the supply to upgrade it in your own way with siege there more then walls and npc you can work on. So that supply is sitting there doing nothing becuse your not doing any thing with it.

Yup. At least if supplies are trolled the upgrade will continue unlike the old way. Plus now with guild buffs players can carry 25 supplies and they seem to go faster during primetime.

Whoever thought it would be a great idea to have the champs drop loot here is wrong. It did not work with the scarlet events, it did not work on all other world bosses.
Half the ppl do the boss, the other half farms boxes and scales the event up.

There is an achievement to kill 500 branded so lets just take away the loot and still have people just killing them for the achievement? I’d rather keep the loot and for me, I liked the scarlet event mainly because it actually dropped loot. Loot keeps players coming back, take away the loot and you’ll start to take away the players.

If you play eyes open you don’t need stability at all.

But I suffer from narcolepsy and fall asleep every few seconds so I end up running through all the cc instead of going around it. Before stab changed, I could fall asleep for up to a minute but I had stab so I was still alive when I woke back up

Yeah, people should look over the keep and tower…. But what the point to defend something ? What the point to have T3 ?
Do you earn more PPT ? Do you we reward with some WP ?
Nop…. T0 and T3 are the same useless thing… Then there is no interest to defend something…

point of defending is to get the upgrades which make it harder for others to take which means you keep your ppt pretty stable by holding those objectives. t0 is easier to take than a t3.. its cool if you don’t want to defend and just let the other servers take away your upgrades and ppt. i’m sure those that want to k-train would pat you on the back for not defending. reason why we lost some people that used to defend is because too many people say defending is pointless now so they don’t even react to map call outs. also why wouldn’t you go defend something? don’t fights usually happen if defenders can hold off long enough for others to come help? this whole pointless to defend stuff is getting old fast and there is EoTM for those that do not like to defend stuff. too many people stuck in k-train mode and its been happening for a long time now. even before all the changes we got.

I don’t think the ops issue relates To elite specs, traits or individual progression. I think it was about allowing proofs to be pooled for siege purchase. A fix could be for anet to introduce an account bound siege purchase currency you can buy with proofs – then the siege purchase currency can be pooled to buy siege.

Title of thread was changed so that’s why this thread makes no sense now. Used to say something like why are proofs soulbound..

You’re probably right here and I would expect the same results we got from the desert BL beta.. Basically it will be too late for them to make any changes.. It might already be too late seeing as they have been working on it for over a year and we have no clue on what any of it is. Unless of course they scrapped it all and started over since all the negative feedback from the new bl so that may be why we have to still wait..

The problem is that while everyone agrees that population imbalance is a problem, it is one that has been caused by players migrating to certain servers rather than by WvW itself. Since the problem is caused by players how can Anet (or NCSoft) be expected to fix it?
I’ve read a lot of proposed solutions in these forums. They tend to be either “give us megaserver maps” or “merge lower tier servers into top tiers” with the implication that the lower tier players will then be happier.

I’d rather see the top tier servers closed and the population distributed among the lower tiers where the players can do some good. Before you flame me over this because this suggestion has annoyed you now stop and ask yourself why the same suggestion is considered ok for a low tier server but not the other way round… arbitrarily forcing ANY server to merge will upset players and is usually something that is suggested as being done to other people for that very reason.

I like the idea of resetting the servers every year – have suggested this myself – but it doesn’t fix the problem it just resets it to a starting position. Ultimately the best option is for us to fix this as players ourselves, but I’m not sure how we do this in practice.

I see it the same way and that’s why I suggested opening up free transfers for a while to just to make it easier for the players to try and fix it. I don’t blame anyone for not wanted to spend gems to transfer with the shape wvw is in atm. What I do see though is a lot of people in lower tiers saying they have no one to fight and barely anyone is playing.

Well every server has been open up for quite some time now so I don’t see why people are not moving, besides not being able to afford it that. The thing is though is that they are choosing to just not play when they could actually do some pve to farm gold to move and they might just get what they are looking for again.

I had some regrets when I transferred but tbh there are couple of things I do not miss and I spent well over 9k hours in bronze.. Few things I do not miss are that no matter what time I login to play, there are always people around. Commanders still seem to be a needed thing but there are always players on the maps in t1. I also don’t miss losing a 30k lead over night, having morale destroyed and the rest of the week only the hardcore wvw are around lol

I really don’t know how to fix it tbh because I used to have server pride and always said don’t touch my server so I totally understand those players that still feel that way. I once said the only way to fix population is to bring more people into WvW and keep them there. Rewards could have been one thing to help keep players in WvW. It’s not an easy fix even though some think it is because it will effect players because we all play and have fun in different ways..

You’re the only one comparing the two.
The fact that the tech was already in the game strongly suggests that it was taken directly from static field and that the functionality is fully intentional (as opposed to a new piece of code which might have unforeseen bugs).
That was my point, which you probably would have realized if you didn’t get so emotional about the issue.

You do know why that 0.5 was added to static field though right? Here’s a hint, it hasn’t anything to do with the damage (hint, stun, hint).

It was a lazy fix for that, and it’s an even lazier fix now.

I agree, the skill needed fixing. Not some seriously questionable work around. Check my posting history. I was advocating for CoR changes ever since the first week of the HoT launch so I’m not suddenly discovering the fact that CoR needs addressing. I’m just appalled by how arenanet went about doing it.

Half a second of immunity is enough to soak the damage of 3, 4, 5 or even 30 revenants attacking a target out of position. If you don’t see a problem with straight up immunities in a wvw enviroment you have no idea and/or no experience with realm versus realm games.

No one (at least not me) is saying CoR doesn’t need a rework. The current rework is an inefficient lazy fix which should scare any decent wvw player no matter if playing a revenant or not. It shows that arenanet are unwilling to address skill issues and instead revert to very questionable “quickfixes”. If that does not scare you about future balance changes to any class I’m not sure what will.

No need to go on a rant about my gaming experience or say I have no idea what I’m talking about. I clearly said many times the problem is the damage. If 30 revs all want to spam one friggin button on a target instead of using other skills then they will face the half of second immunity.. Ahh well you sound angry now so I’m leaving this discussion.. Since you hate immunity why not try and get skills that make you invulnerable nerfed next… anyway I’m done quoting you cause you sound angry and when I get angry I say things I do not want to say and I do not want to get another ban because some 2 spammer can no longer spam 2 and win..

Everyone who thinks the current state of CoR is okay, is delusional (this change also affects beserker longbow F1).

As is, all the damage from every class currently summs up, except for these 2 attacks. That is a gross nerf since it involves a completely new mechanic which so far was nefver part of the game design.

Sure, maybe arenanet are intending to roll this change out to other attacks and this is just a testballoon, then this would be fine. But ask yourself, how would you feel if suddenly your most powerful ranged skills were mutually exlusive with other wvw players?

I play mesmer, ele and guardian mainly in wvw and I don’t have any 1 button can down most glass builds on those toons. DH is close with the #2 bow skill but its not as bad as rev #2 skill. Have yet to be 1 shot from a DH but been 1 shot by revs and berserkers quite a bit. So until anet gives every profession a 1 shot button they should reduce the damage on the few skills that are currently doing massive damage. Stop messing with traits and cooldowns when the problem is the damage.. Could put a 20 sec cooldown on CoR and it would still 1 shot some players..

I’ve done it several times and can confirm the updrafts seem to always be an issue.. Not once in all the times I’ve done it have they worked the first time I jump or press f to launch myself into the air..

If you have your warbler on you when you go later in the story with the Nuhoch in the Tangled Depths, you’ll get a bit of dialogue from a Nuhoch who has some strong opinions about your warbler.

I got tired of the pve grind at level 41. PvP is kind of fun but sometimes I’m cc’ed to death and can’t even do a thing. Not to mention chats are the most toxic chats I’ve seen in a while and gold sellers are out in force.. You only get a 50 max blocklist so that is pretty pointless as I blocked 50 gold sellers the first few days. I can’t believe people actually pay premium for this game.. /facepalm

edit: oh yea and mob stealing I forgot.. Most quests you have to kill x amount of monsters or get x amount of drops from monsters.. Not much fun to me standing around waiting for mobs to spawn and fighting for the first hit so you get the credit. I got cursed out a couple times because I was faster at getting to the targets when I was the first one standing around waiting for the respawns to begin with.

Don’t like grinding dungeons for a chance at a weapon upgrades? Too bad you have to grind them to upgrade your gear.

Most players know its faster to get them in PVE-land. I think the real issue is that you are scared to die to npcs in pve-land.. PVE-land too hard for you wvw’ers. You’d probably die to a bunch of pocket raptors and alt-f4 so they don’t get loot from you. :P

Most WvW players do PvE, they have to. WvW is a money sink, it costs gold to play and the only way to earn enough gold is to farm PvE mobs. Then again, briggah, perhaps you are too frightened you will get totally owned in WvW to step out the door? :P

hehe nah I leveled most of mine using both, did a couple easy ones in pve and rest in wvw. the only one I haven’t fully unlocked yet is scrapper and its because I’m not good on engie at all.

and those talking about siege, that’s for when you max out your points so you have something else to use them on. Siege is account bound yes but its not a trait or character progression.. nice try though.

Anet could have only giving us enough proofs to unlock our elites and then stop them from dropping if you are at max but they gave us another way to get super siege which I think is nice.

I’d rather see them open up free transfers for a bit and let players fix what other players created before any sort of merge/delete/alliance. I’m sure some people want to transfer but are not sure if it is even worth the gems right now. Going by what some people have said, entire servers could probably move up a few tiers.

Supply Dolyaks Issue

First off, it’s only been a few days. Secondly, I don’t see people claiming camps and slotting things that upgrade dolyaks. If they did, speedy dolyaks and double deliveries would make the upgrade process 4x faster. People are still K-training, not leaving scouts, and not having roaming parties to keep the camps and yaks secure.

So, protect your camps.

Lots of fun with camps and yaks in T5 yesterday. Offense and defense. There were some good camp fights.

I actually roamed and sniped yaks todays.. Wow.. I haven’t done that in some time.

patch notes: Dolyaks in Eternal Battlegrounds have had their movement speed increased.

so maybe the upgrades may be a little faster now unless the yaks were slow and now they are the correct speed hehe

Can’t interact with the golem banker in the keep anymore. Seemed to have happened after the last patch. Was fine pre-patch as I was changing toons a few times but after the latest patch I am no longer able to use the banker. Tried again today with same results..

This was someone else’s idea but make all structures T3 from jump and nothing auto-repairs even between flips. Could solve all these woes… basically fix it or lose it.

while the idea might shake things up a little, once again, I’d rather not be the few people repairing something while everyone else runs around on the tag.

plus this is wvw where we are suppose to be fighting over objectives.. not bob the builder where the few dedicated repairers will stick around and repair something.

  • Did your client completely crash, or did you just get booted back to the character select screen?

I didn’t get a screenshot but can answer one of your questions.. I got kicked back to my character select screen. Happened twice and it was the first day. Once it happened when I was just standing around waiting, other time it happened after the fight ended.

I’ve done it several times since and didn’t get disconnected but if it does happen again I’ll be sure to get a shot of the error message..

I haven’t noticed it with taunt but I have ran into it after using a movement skill and sometimes even after a dodge I’m stuck in place..

like the above post, they only thing I found that fixes it is to do an emote. Its is really annoying though..

If something is useful, looks well and works well, I don’t mind looking at it for years. In fact, these changes just for the sake of change, that end up making things silly or breaking them – that is something I’d prefer never to look at.

yea man. the new siege skins really broke the game mode even more..

This thread just goes to show that no matter what they do not everyone will be happy. I can’t believe people are actually complaining about siege skins. Still does the job no matter how it looks..

Briggah the skin was just one kitten and a minor one at that. The things that kittenes me off the most about the new skins is using resources to do something that really wasn’t needed and to be honest makes placing siege a tad more difficult. There are SO MANY BUGS in WVW and Anet works on kitten that really didn’t need any changing and does stupid kitten like this. Its like removing the rapture in the sky above sm wtf, he wasn’t bothering anyone, NcSoft/Anet’s priorities are kittened up.

I really doubt the art team also works on fixing bugs.. Then again they could seeing as wvw bugs seem to take forever to get fixed.

Fix the NPCs on green side of EBG

Reported this first day after patch on Oct. 24th 2015 in game with /bug and also somewhere in these forums. To this day the NPCS still contest jerri tower and our keep constantly over and over again.. I hate having to run back from spawn because some NPC is shooting at drakes around our objectives.. How about removing those silly drakes that do nothing but make it impossible for us to use our keep wp???

Lowlands Keep: Removed the hostile drakes that sometimes caused the keep to become contested.

If something is useful, looks well and works well, I don’t mind looking at it for years. In fact, these changes just for the sake of change, that end up making things silly or breaking them – that is something I’d prefer never to look at.

yea man. the new siege skins really broke the game mode even more..

This thread just goes to show that no matter what they do not everyone will be happy. I can’t believe people are actually complaining about siege skins. Still does the job no matter how it looks..

Sadly upgrades STILL don't need defenders

I actually like it more since I was one of the few people that ran around and spent my money to upgrade stuff.

Old way I would run around maps and start upgrades in towers that had full supplies, go out roaming, ninja camps and kill some yaks.. Go back to check our side and find out that nobody started the next upgrades and once again towers had full supplies.. All those wasted yaks because only a few people actually took care of the upgrades while everyone else ran around on a tag. There are still people defending/babysitting towers.

Plus trolls used to order guards etc etc when you needed those supplies or order a wp with 0 supplies in your keep and it would never finish leaving you with no supplies for siege if an attack came. Not to mention the many arguments and name calling when someone tried to be helpful and order an upgrade but got scolded for doing so because it wasn’t in the correct order in someone else’s eyes.

Do you score a point for each enemy that dies, or do you score a point for each credited to your side? In other words, if 5 people tag an enemy, when that enemy dies, is he worth one point or 5 points?

Exactly! it takes all the pressure off of losing ppt!..just make the maps flat with 3 spawns close to each other. Less walking, more fighting, less objective orientation. Who needs those fancy map designers anyway. Just make it a big pvp sandbox with Grey walls that look like a portal test map and we’ll be just fine.

Now I do prefer fights over everything else but most of the epic fights in my memory are all over objectives.. Don’t have any open field fights stuck in my head lol I’m talking about fighting over something, getting bags, dying, running back to get more bags, rinse repeat until objective gets captured, then become sad because the fight is over lol

Just doesn’t happen like this that much nowadays..

Same reason why people trash talk others in a game but would never say half the stuff they say if they were face to face with a person in real life. Because they can on the internet since they hide behind their keyboards. If some of these people went into stores and complained the way they do on here security would escort them out the door so fast…

Well it is called character progression not account progression.. Look at it like this.. PVE’ers have to play each profession to unlock the elites.. They can’t use one toon and farm items to unlock them for other toons..

Supply Dolyaks Issue

I suggested this change but wasn’t the first one to ask for it. I thought what anet would do is figure out how many yaks made it to the objective during the timer that we had and that number would be used. Maybe it is this way or maybe they just pulled numbers out of a hat. Could be that yaks are getting killed and its working now as it should be by making it harder to upgrade things. I messed around for a few hours yesterday and I noticed that more yaks seem to be dying.

pre-hot it did take quite some time to fully upgrade objectives and not to mention upgrades basically stalling for hours because supplies never made it to objectives..

I submitted 4 bug reports on not being able to loot the trophy statue at the end. Hope I’m eligible for credit after the bug reports are reviewed.

Kill credit for branded is not counting properly.

Kill credit for the healing crystals is not counting for me at all. Still at 0.

Dodge gliding just randomly awards and I’m not sure how credit is awarded? Is it supposed to be 1 per flight? Per “lighting thing” I pass without touching?

This event is very bugged out overall.

Do you have auto loot mastery? Pretty sure don’t need to loot the chest with that mastery.. I could be wrong and if I am then I’m missing jormag, teq, mordy and karka chests since I don’t think I’ve ever gotten loot from those chests since I mastered auto loot…
