Just checked and my option is on as well. I actually like the look when it is on but like I said, doesn’t happen every time but sometimes when I zone to a new map it flashes from light to dark until I move my toon.

Every so often when I log into a map it keeps flashes from light to dark until I move and then it lightens up correctly..

Oh and also I haven’t changed any of my display settings in a long time.. Started to happen when anet made the changes to some graphics settings on the July 28 patch.

If you ask me. You need to push your recalculate/refresh/re-something button since medium servers are now getting transfers and out numbering high status servers..

For 3 weeks now we been outnumbered by medium servers.

less than 40 people in map? not dead

30+ on a tag? not dead

You guys should check out lower tiers if you think numbers like that is considered dead

I’ll give you an example of last week on my server

less than 10 people on the map. outnumbered buff at prime time. 5 people on tag

Sounds like a karma train event idea if you ask me. Lets remove the one thing that helps stop them k-trainers and make it easier for them to take stuff..

Why not just remove gates for the week as well?

This game mode is full of people that like to all play a different way. Game mode has people that GvG, duelers, roamers, zergers, zerg busters, havoc groups, and ppters.

Most suggestions from community are fixes for one of those type of players. I don’t even have a problem with cheese builds or stealth in this game so as you can see, problems to some people are not problems for others.

If people quit this game because of the golem event, they really wanted to quit for some time now and needed something to seal the deal. Also golem event was temporary and people quit you say? So what do you think will happen if Anet does decides to actually make changes or try to fix things that some people feel is wrong with this game mode?

Its far from broken if you ask me but I guess I’m the minority here. Close to 8k hours into this game and really if it didn’t change for years to come but I can still have fun playing, I would still play it whether it changes or not..

I mean lets look at Eternal Borderland for example. There’s 4 Champions that spawn, Hylek, Harpy, Grub, Arboreal Tree Spirit. How often do people go out of there way to kill these unless there’s absolutely no one around ?

We kill hylek and harpy all the time. Now that I think about it we need a champ in dredge too.. Those are all mercenary camps and they help with scouting the maps.

Now grub and tree are different but the grub is considered holy and you should not kill it. :P

They add no value to gameplay and in fact only take away from it as it requires that people move to places of low traffic and kill a creature who has no impact on the map or the objectives that players should be fighting over.

They actually do add value because they help you scout the map. If one of those camps gets flipped chances are the closest camp next to it on your side will be next target.. If you own them and they flip somebody just killed them and will most likely head to your side next..

I’m not seeing any lag on my server in any maps. I’m also uploading videos to youtube in background and still no lag..

I want to be able to salvage my old WvW gear that has expensive runes in them.. You made ascended salvageable so I hope you didn’t forget about WvW gear. Even if you just give me back my runes I will be happy..

Oh wow. I thought you were being snarky, but it turns out you really don’t understand it.

You don’t give a roundabout answer of “every server follows the same rules” to a simple question: “are the map caps equal,” if the answer were simply “yes.”

So the answer is not “yes” because there are other factors that affect the cap. One possibility is that minions count towards the cap: maybe not as a full player but perhaps a percentage of a player. Maybe siege counts towards the cap. Maybe minis count toward the cap. I’ve seen all three speculated in these forums several times.

It’s not even farfetched, particularly the minions theory:

Minions have AI, they interact with players. They hit and get hit. So they cost server time… which there’s a finite amount of. Combine this with the aforementioned “rule,” which is very possibly: “each server gets the same amount of server time,” and you’ve got a setup where two servers are both capped but one server has more players.

So why won’t Anet come out and just say this? It’s because if they did, WvW would instantly become toxic when one server feels it is capped but has fewer players than an opponent. Minion master necros, spirit weapon guards… whoever has minions will be told to GTFO to make room in the queue.

Imagine if siege influenced the cap, you’d have siege trolls going even more crazy than they do now.

Maybe if you ask the right question nicely you will get an answer.. Maybe not.. Point was he was trying to be helpful and yet again someone creates a post about something the dev says and makes it look like the dev avoided the question.. I think he answered the question the best he could.

ps: Day 4 and victory or death is still bugged. I can’t get a shiny new pact skin that I will never use so yes I may sound sarcastic and snarky..

Ahh well its late for me.. Thanks for spilling all the beans lil devil about what its like in the higher tiers. Honestly I just play to have fun and really I have more fun being in lower tiers.

Now I’ve been on same server since I started and that was in T8 if I recall but we got all the way up to T3 once I think. It was fun and I’d do it again but it was a lot of overtime from many people on our server and afterwards lots of people got burnt out.

If you ask me its more relaxed down in lower tiers. If we win, we win. If we lose, we lose. As long as we take SM before reset we see it as a victory LOL jk. Also I feel for T8 now but really no idea how anet would fix it without messing it up for other tiers.

I always said I would not transfer since I have made so many friends since I started to play this game. If its no longer fun due to nobody being around I’d either have to farm gold and move or quit. Transfer is always an option, I just hope I never have to use that as the option.

T2 GvG protested this and are taking over other servers and plan to make SURE those servers do not move up. The GVG guilds are intentionally preventing servers from moving up. That has nothing to do with the changes, the changes only make that easier to do.

Not really, you guys on NA seem to be rather weird, actually, and I was wondering why it was only the first 8 servers left, yet all you do is the “pirate ship meta”.
Here’s what I think will happen: Those who are sick of the “GvG” actions will move to lower tiers and steamroll the tiers above them – I would do so as I like being the underdog and kicking lazy fat blobs – I hope anet will make that easier by buffing defenses and zergfights (stability changes, damage, condis etc etc) – it has been possible once and I hope it will again.
Come to think of it, maybe I should get another account and help my first server out.

Ya that statement is 100% incorrect.. Seeing as there are other threads in these forums of people leaving your FULL servers since the change went into effect. Also hearing a lot of people moving back to some servers that were full and are no longer full. All those players moved up so I guess they are moving back down for a reason too..

No it is NOT incorrect. DO you know why they are leaving? This was decided before the changes silly. Server politics is what is going on. LOL The stacking of YB by a certain alliance is what caused that, has nothing to do with the changes being made . They are not moving to solo .. ROFL. They are moving to make T3 the GvG Tier now to protest the alliance, this was all decided before the changes.

Could care less about server politics and alliances since if you ask me, those are they type of people that ruin this game for others. They did try to stop me. The guy I pulled off his AC and killed came back and I had killed him a second time before I capped it, as well as another guy came in between. ALSO I didn’t give them much of a chance to keep running back, I didn’t completely down him for a while, I kept him in a downed state and let him almost get back up a few times before accidentally downing him to keep him busy and not let him WP tyvm ( YES Gw2 version of torture.) Roaming in T1 Is much more difficult than other tiers, but it is not undoable.

Yea and I do the same thing pretty much on a daily basis on my DEAD server. I don’t really try to solo towers much anymore because I find plenty of fights roaming. Most of those come from taking camps or checking on white swords on the map.

You are not really doing the same thing if you are not at risk of being face rolled by an angry mob at any point in time . Avoiding the angry mob and havocs WHILE being effective is part of the challenge roaming on higher tier servers during ANY time of the day or night.

I get zerged by mobs each and every day on my DEAD server. Happens more at prime time but you are making it seem like I play with no one since I’m not in T1..

Edit: Also the point you just made is the main point most people prefer to stay in lower tiers.. During off hours we have small fights and roaming fights, zergs every now and then.. During prime time is when all the bigger fights happen but during day we are still protecting our stuff from other small groups and prepping for the big attacks that happen later on. If it was constant 24/7 zergs I’d probably be in PVE as I can’t zerg for hours without getting bored yet I can roam for endless hours..

This is not good at all for the games longevity. Not only are new players never getting a chance to see the best that wvw has to offer, they are being charged extra for taking Anet’s advice and then only having options for mediocrity. Some players are not being given a choice in the matter at all, as they already locked the servers that do have people to play with 24/7. They are denying them the option to have people to play with at all due to their decision now making it even worse.

What you claim is the best WvW experience is just your opinion. There are 5 servers right now after the change that are full status. That is all of T1 and 2 T2 servers. So basically your opinion is that if a server is not full it is not the best WvW experience..

Good roamers actually have enemies to fight and run the risk of being face rolled by a mob otherwise they are just PVE’ers on a dead server.

Pat yourself on the back for solo’ing a tower in T1 during prime time.. All that shows me is T1 zergs and nothing else if they can’t stop a solo roamer capping a tower during prime time. I’m sure the guy you pulled out of the tower made a map call out but no one came to stop you since they were zerging it up somewhere else..

I solo’s BP EBG Green keep while playing on DR. That is what you call dead. ANY server that does not have 24/7 coverage is dysfunctional because they are playing coverage wars rather than actually fighting. Again though, I do not see keeping servers as being the better solution at all at this point since there are so few that even have 24/7 coverage. They killed servers when they went mega server, leaving wvw as the only thing in game that is left that is server based. Removing server based wvw would be the best solution, as that way players and guild can play with different players and against different players every match if they so choose. My (2) option is the better option and is the only option that allows mega server guilds to play wvw together as well.

Keeping servers at all will only ensure staleness in the end and is only postponing the inevitable.

Anet made the choice to kill them when they went mega server, they were already killed, this is just their death throws now. LOL

Depending on the server:
We have players logging in with no one to play with or against.
We have players logging in and sitting in ques the entire time they have to play not being able to play at all.
We have players that are being face rolled by massively uneven matches.
We have players that always get to win.
We have players that have no hope of every winning.
We have players who fight against the same players every week.
We have players who are unable to play with friends or family.
We have players who cannot play with their guild.

ALL of these things are caused by the broken system, and unless a system resolves them all, the system is not functioning properly. Everyone paid to play this game, everyone deserves to be able to have an opportunity to enjoy it.

So anet caused the problem? Seems more the people that transferred off the servers caused the problems for those that didn’t want to transfer. If its so bad and dead as some claim go farm some gold and transfer to a new server and see if it is any better.

( EDIT:YES, his zerg and our zerg and at the time Even TC zerg were fighting 3 way at Bravost with TC fighting our zerg from the back from umber and BG zerg in the front fighting under siege from their keep. Proper roaming means to coordinate attacks strategically with what is going on on multiple maps by multiple servers and choosing targets accordingly. Not just run around and kill stuffs) lol

Thanks for clearing that up for me.. For a second I thought you might actually have roamers in T1 but now I see they are zerglings in disguise that just roam next to another zerg..

Dead means gone forever. If game was DEAD nobody would be playing it.

LOL at t1 guy saying solo players in an MMO should go play single player RPG games..

1) Reduce the number of servers to only the amount of servers that have 24/7 coverage. Any server who does not have enough 24/7 coverage is closed

Great Idea – We’ve got 4 time zones in the EU, so you want to shut down all EU servers.
Or leave the 2 that have people from CAN, AUS, NA playing on them.
Or: The EU players would be forced to play on NA servers with a ping of ~200-400. You really thought this through, right?

You would leave the few that have enough population to cover all time zones open and close the rest, then add maps to accommodate the ques during busy hours. TBH of the choices I stated above, however, I think the only way to actually solve the issues long term is remove wvw from being server based since they killed servers with the mega servers anyhow. The other option listed was to make shorter matches and allow players/ guilds to choose the server before they play. That is the only way to accommodate mutli server guilds from the mega server anyhow now. They made everything else in the game multi server except WvW, that is why people cannot even recruit from their own server anymore making wvw even more stale than it would have been otherwise.

Lets close the few servers that do have full 24/7 coverage.. Its unfair to all the rest of the servers that don’t. Like my idea? If not well I don’t like yours either.

There’s no point in doing anything in WvsW…

Put in a goal, like WO had.

Here’s a goal you can do every single time you play WvW. Look at your point tick, try and make it higher than the other 2 servers. If its already higher try and keep it that way.

If I was a new player coming into this game and read these forums I’d probably think this game mode is broken, ruined, unplayable, dead game mode, full of hackers, full of exploiters, the worst out of all 3 game modes and full of a bunch of old grumpy players.

Yet I think it is the best game mode.

Anyways I’m going to go chill in the PVE forums from now on. At least when you say you enjoy something in that section you don’t have a horde of angry players jumping all over you. Oh wait you do and they are usually WvW players..

Same problem here. I decided about 1 hour ago to try victory or death solo since I haven’t done it since the change. Got to the part in the above screenshots and I can not use the cannons. Event tells me to use cannons skills to reflect and kill giants. Tried spamming f over them and even double clicking a bunch on them. Only thing that does sometimes is make it look like my character is stuck in the air falling. Even tried jumping off the ship but ended up dead. Anvil as well didn’t work for me to repair.

Latest patch seemed to have fixed my locked Season 2 and the Traits showing that nothing was unlocked.

This has me curious. Didn’t you, as forum specialist, get selected based on favoritism towards the game and it’s developers? The obvious answer based on this is, no. I see that as a sign of honesty on ArenaNets side, but they really should just listen to the wishes of their customers more, that way people are happy with the game and buy expansions because they want to.

That’s just it. The wishes of the customer counter one another. In very many aspects, for every thread demanding one thing, there is a thread demanding the opposite. Then you have posters “claiming” they do not listen to the wishes of the customer, simply because they don’t following through on thay specific customers demands.

This is our biggest problem. We, like any large group of people, have widely disparate views of what would be best for the gamemode. For everyone that says we need to merge the low pop servers, we have one saying that ANet must forcibly destack the high pop servers. For every person screaming about PPK being the metric, we have one staunchly defending PPT.

ANet cannot, and should not, try to win with everyone. They cannot win with everyone, and if they did I would shudder to see the game that was created.

The fact that golem rush week exploit had no patch and not even an acknowledgement from the devs tells us it’s not players disparate preferences that’s the problem.

Unless you’re saying some people enjoyed the exploit so Anet shouldn’t have done anything. Are you?

You act like everyone was exploiting. I played everyday during event and ran into zero people exploiting.. Also event is over and yet you keep bringing it up in several threads..

First 2 screenshots show what happened to the character I used to do every living story so far.. Now I did go through the new recap today so might have happened after completing that. Not sure to be honest all I know is its locked now.

Second 2 screenshots are from a new toon that I have never done any living stories on. Shows unlocked and some achievements I completed are there.

I basically just use one of my characters to do my living stories so I don’t even have another toon that is up to date to even do another recap and see if that locks it.

edit: guess I’m slow typer, seems devs know about it.

Checked another toon. Only have 13 hero points which means I unlocked a bunch already. Unlike one my other toon that had everything reset including hero points, this one just shows everything hasn’t been unlocked. Left side shows nothing is unlocked although I do clearly have all the traits and skills that I did unlock.

No it did not only break my first toon I logged into. So far I logged into 3 of the 10 toons I have and all 3 have all traits reset.

The character I used to do all my living stories now has same problem as above. Season 2 is locked on him and I have to buy it with gems.

When I logged into a different toon. Season 2 is not locked for those characters..

I don’t get it either. Mines the shift key, my pinky finger clicks it when I see exp on my screen. When you see exp on screen during fights usually you get some sort of loot from it.

So now I’ll just say so don’t buy it.

You can make a keybind for aoe loot. When you die during fights respawn and the loot bags still come to you.

I did not say to remove all the PvE elements. What I was saying is that many players that I have talked to, would prefer it if it was kept to the objectives such as you mentioned.

Whereas other events such as scarlet were not ever brought into WvW again. Sorry if this was unclear.

The problem as I see it is this:

ANet wants WvW to be PvE with added (minor) PvP side effect that makes the player want to move on to play PvP (yay e-sports).

The players there want WvW to be PvP with a VERY minor (lords etc) PvE effect and many could care less about moving on to PvP.

So long as the devs and the players are on separate sides of this we will sadly be forced to do things their way as we have no control over their decisions.

Yes but WvW has always had PVE in it. Just because some players do not want PVE stuff in WvW doesn’t mean removing PVE stuff will make WvW better. Since WvW has always had PVE in it, isn’t it more like the players are the ones on the other side since this game mode has always had PVE in it?

Way I look at it is WvW is every single game mode all wrapped up in one.. Players have the freedom to do what ever they like in WvW. WvW was always based on taking over PVE objectives.

If they removed all PVE stuff it would no longer be WvW. Seeing as some players just like to take objectives, while others just look for fights. Most fights I’ve had are over objectives. Remove those objectives and well say goodbye to your fights. Not everyone is into open field fights and spamming skills to see who dies first.. Some people like to fight to take over stuff.

P.S if you haven’t read the news this week, YB just got a truckload of players from T1, their NA queues are higher than FA, 50+ queues on every bl last night. They’re still open while FA and SoS are locked.

So once again players are trying to make more imbalanced match ups is what you are really saying..

No, EotM won’t be counted towards WvW. I don’t think it’s the same experience, and you can always enter it since it can have as many instances as needed, so there’s really not that same population problem as in “core” WvW.

Sorry, this made me laugh, and not in a good way.
Here is a snap shot of what it like facing off green on eotm. Do some caps with your zerg of 15 -30 (dependent whether your blue or red), then see roughly 100 green come screaming towards you. Next you get the odd comment on map chat, along the lines of, ‘really hope we are green next week!’.
By the way that not an exaggeration, that’s exactly what happens!

(before anyone says ‘ohhh but eotm doesn’t count, its not wvw,—- the dev brought it up, not me, so it does by that very fact, even though vested interests in some wvw corners would like to keep the balancing just as it is)

Actually that made me smile even more and actually shows me that they do realize EoTM is not the same as WvW.
