I doubt I’ll buy the expansion because it’s got nothing I’m interested in. I pretty much just log on to do WvW with my guild and for daily login rewards. None of this new PvE stuff interests me.
None of the elite specializations look cool to you? I watched tempest stream yesterday and have played lots of d/d ele. So far out of all of the ones they shared, that might be the first one I actually try out..
So break apart every guild/community? lol
look, straight up…are you gonna pretend that the current situation HASN’T “broken apart guilds and communities” already, and doesn’t continue to? plz
honestly just stick everyone back at homeworld. if you don’t like it, buy another acct. most have multiples anyway.
No the current situation hasn’t broke up guilds and communities but your idea sure will.. Players are the ones that break up guilds because when they constantly transfer all over the place, people lose friendships they have made during all those transfers.
You think every time guilds transfer every single member follows them? Maybe some do but not all the time. Lots of guilds left my server since I started to play this game and I read other forums. Most of those guilds never last, end up rebuilding under a new name with new members, come back over time and join guilds with their old friends they left or decide to quit because its not much better where they went.
You know what? If you don’t like the current situation, but another account.
Take the opportunity to close the bottom dozen ‘servers’ by offering them a choice of new homes in the next tiers up- that’s the fastest way to get more balance in the servers, as currently there are too many servers for a game mode that has been allowed to wither away for so long.
Whilst this minor change is welcome, a lot more actual work is required on wvw to make it an attractive game mode and to swing the participation numbers up.
Why not close the top dozen servers? Seeing as they have the most players? Stop trying to close my server lol
I don’t get why they post more info on reddit. I don’t even go to that website. Anyways thanks for linking it here.
No, I think Adula’s right. They don’t know what else to do. Clearly the stated goal here is to break the WvW community and this behavior shows it. Well done showing us all your true colors.
This is the YB way….. please leave to T1.
Oh that explains the siege.. Never mind, keep doing what you are good at.

How bout backing up, not building siege, quit the emote spamming and let them come out and fight? How many bags you guys get? Looks like zero.
Went into Eternal to check out the golems, realized we were being spawn camped again by GoM. Left after a bit and then went back to doing PvE stuff as normal. But I might go do some ktraining for my alts in eotm.
But at least you got to k-train when we were all asleep.. Oh wait must of been boring owning the whole maps while everyone else was sleeping..
Lol, not all of us on DB play during the late hours.
And not of of GoM spawned camped
Never said that, only saying what was happening.
Yea you didn’t say it but other guy did.. Actually did have some fun during prime time NA even with this event.. No hard feelings
Why not try and kill those legendary defenders.. I’m sure they drop epic loot.
Look at your guildie with laugh spamming.. Bahahha screenshot makes you look bad not the people getting spawned camped.
And that is another problem with the current K-Train atmosphere.
At one time if you were a gold rank, people assumed you spent most of your time playing in WvW helping out your server and generally playing WvW as a team player. Sure you probably k-trained a bit, but mostly just played WvW as IMO it was intended.
Now you could be platinum, and everyone just assumes you spend your time in EotM, or if you include this week, regular WvW with the buff. Honestly there is really no distinction anymore, and I don’t think that is a good thing!
Pretty much nailed it. Was called a noob by someone on my own server. Tried to explain to him that I been playing this game a long time and would rather people would not talk bad towards their own server players. Rank got thrown in somewhere and when I said my rank I was told “wow that is a lot of zerging and k-training”
Funny thing about the whole thing was it was an outnumbered fight. Person that said that to me died first so my question was who is the real noob? :P

Your all so dramatic. LOL They will return. Except for the people that were already burnt out and looking for reasons to leave.
If your still complaining you probably should question whether that’s you.
You beat me to it. Was going to say the same thing basically. People were tired and wanted to leave so this event was the thing that sealed it for them.
I’d prefer stale matches and map queues that are almost non-existent in my tier as is then an alliance which will mostly be filled with players who hop into one alliance and lock the rest into other alliances.
Also if they do not adjust the alliances per week or longer, it will not change the imbalance in any way. The most populated alliance will still win over all others.
I don’t really like using EoTM as an example but that is basically your alliance right there. Notice that most complaints about EoTM in the past is that green always has the majority of the alliance.
Delicious could logic.
Always great when applied to all things.
I don’t think it’ll affect WvW much actually, though. People try to get into the high tier WvW worlds and jump the lesser ones anyways.
Some servers are full status yet the wvw population has dropped making it harder for them to recruit more wvw players.. Wouldn’t say this change is to change wvw just make it easier for servers with full status to recruit again.
Will be interesting to see which servers actually stay at full status if any..
::throws away picket sign::
I guess they do care.
And if they had added the ability for five players to combine into one giant golem, my attitude would be completely the opposite and I would be in wvw every day as much as I can.
Not going to lie. That would be pretty sweet if you ask me. Each player controlling something different yet in the same thing. Reminds me on Voltron hehe

@Random
I like reading your post tbh even when you throw me under the bus at times. There is a difference between the way you make your point across and the many others who say the same thing the next person says and usually that is “this game is ruined”
If you kept up with most of my posts it seems I have tons of personalities
Its just at times I reply with silly stuff since I see silly stuff being posted or in a way I see it as silly stuff. If people actually expressed it more in a nicer way I’d reply more in a nicer way.
I will say even sometimes I disagree with myself after someone like you points it out in a nicer way haha
Recover from what? Not everyone gave up out there. Event basically showed me that there are a lot of servers out there with people that take this game too seriously. Instead of trying to make the best out of it they chose to give up and not play..
I’m sure all the people that tried to even have fun during this boring event will look at all them guilds that decided not to play this week differently after this event is over. INC drama and mass transfers.
WvW is a form of entertainment. It is not only competing with other RvR games, but also other video games and forms of entertainment. If I chose to watch Ant man or restart my Crusader Kings campaign or play Rocket League because I find this event not entertaining, then I should be free to do so.
I hadn’t realized that this is a job and I have required attendance requirements. I’ll get a note from my doctor about missing this week then.
Sorry, who is taking this too seriously again?
Nice post LOL would read again..
I sure am not taking it too seriously. If I was I would have created tons of new threads that claimed this event ruined wvw, say there is no future for wvw or even ask if wvw will ever recover.
(edited by briggah.7910)
I’m all for making the matches more balanced but if you use megaserver and wvw in the same sentence, I will not stand by that idea for as long as I play..

Wow you sure are confused about who is taking this game to seriously, who takes it more seriously. The guy who stays in game and tries to make the best of it, or the one that says “nope this weeks not my cup of tea, I’ll take a break”.
I expected more from you.
I’ll try better next time. Even I played less this week. Thing is I didn’t try to win instead I tried to still have fun with my friends because as everyone can clearly tell, I like to play this game mode and some boring event isn’t going to stop me..
Those that take a break for a week are probably the smarter ones as every now and then you do need a break or sometimes you will grow to just hate things. Going by the wvw forums itself, a lot of people need a long break.
For people to blame the event on there reason for taking a break, IMO, needed a break to begin with because they were taking the game too seriously. If one week of something different is going to cause you to rage on the forums, make you say things like “I refuse to buy the xpac”, make you post videos of devs saying something silly and keep dwelling on it, well to me those people take this game way too serious.
(edited by briggah.7910)
Again, hundreds of people used this exploit.
According to most maps are empty and no one is playing this week. Hundreds? I bet more people didn’t play then actually used this exploit.

Wow so that’s where my money has been going? Both of those tools can move to Fire Island together while their game goes into the toilet. There’s NO WAY I am giving that smug bald prick one penny more of my money wow. What a pompous, abrasive kitten that guy is.
2 years ago you said you were done with this game.. You also post a lot about pvp and classes getting nerfed and are so fed up with this game. I guess you to just play WvW too right?
briggah, no offense but you look like a stalker.
Event has made me become bored. Its funny to me really so many people are mad about his statement yet they have played every other game mode according to things they have talked about in the past on these forums.. I’m starting to doubt anyone just plays wvw because this game forces you into other game modes whether you like it or not.
You know what I wish people would stick to their words and actually quit instead of sticking around only to trash talk the people who make this game every second they can.

If all they care about atm is HoT, they should just leave WvW as it is for now and not mess around with it.
Yet if they did that we’d get lots of threads complaining that once again wvw is completely ignored.
Alliance will not keep communities together because they already proved that with megaserver. Half my guild ends up on a different map. Some people take month breaks from this game but when they come back they always know where to find me. If they limit the number of players per alliance, I’m sure when some people come back to play the alliance their friends are on will be full.
You really think alliances will help with imbalanced match ups? What happens if one alliance is stacked with NA players and another is stacked with those not in NA or have more players in off hours? Same thing we have now will happen.
Also some take the game seriously while others play for fun. I see it already when some players come from another tier and doesn’t like they way we do things. They then begin to trash talk the players and the server as a whole. Some people are just toxic altogether but alliances will bring out the toxic chat even more.
Alliance pride? More like which alliance does the best and first come first serve to join that alliance before it becomes full.
About 10 seconds in you get to see Anet’s reaction to the Golem event
https://youtu.be/lt9yxcFm2rU
Not worth the gems IMO.. Funny though lol
I can only go on what I see, but there is NOTHING positive to be taken form this week.
Only lots of negativity and resentment toward ANet.
Well didn’t take this event to see negativity and resentment towards anet.. Every since I started to come here I have seen it.
If anything I spent more time on these forums then actually playing this week. Only few more days.
(edited by briggah.7910)
You can’t deny though that a majority of commenters on this forum really dislike it.
I think the event is boring since there is rarely any fights but you can’t say just use the forums and judge it on that seeing as there are tons of people running around in golems..
If the majority of people in wvw hated it you wouldn’t be seeing golems still running around. Now people can go on and say those are all PVE’ers running around in golems, and most may be, but if they are having fun I’m sure they will come back even after the event.
I’ve seen lots of new faces actually asking questions about what builds they should be running around with which makes me think they will be here after this event is over.
I didn’t say ‘use the forums to judge it’ , I said that a majority of posters seem to strongly dislike it.
And I completely disagree about the bringing in new people.
Most will probably either get bored or die very quickly in a normal WvW week if their only experience is running around in a golem k-train.If you want to get new blood in you need to do something that enhances actual WvW (e.g. better rewards), not a gimmick week that totally perverts normal playing conditions.
Correct you didn’t say that but in a way you are using the forums. I bet the majority of people that liked this event haven’t even come here to post about it.
You can disagree all you want about getting new players but if you accept the new players and show them that you can have fun without golems they will stick around.
I seen several people say pve’ers are the ones running around in golems, which might be true, but let them pve’ers have fun and like I pointed out if you show them fun after the event I’m sure they will stick around.. If you keep looking at them as just “pve’ers” well they sure won’t want to stick around.
Also I don’t mean you as you personally. Just I read other forums as well and the amount of people poking fun at pve’ers isn’t going to keep those pve’ers in wvw.
Farmers dont stick around after the farm has ended. If its being played as if it is a farm then its very likely that is how it is perceived by those doing it.
Main reason it is a farm event is because many have chosen not to defend or upgrade.
It took us a few days of this event for people to get bored and go back to defending and upgrading. We got a wp in our keep after a few days into this event but once people saw that wp, we got one in our keep everyday so far. Maybe its cause the other servers have just given up but we still are at least trying to defend and upgrade our side.
Most would rather k-train during this event and tbh when there are no fights you either k-train or not play.
Well, you might want to check out the new “Recieve the Light” heal then. You should also be able to get stability easy these days through indomitable courage. These are just ideas of course; I have no idea how your setup works, as long as you stay up I guess it’s all good. Although isn’t SY! kinda killer with all those condis running around?
But hey, given how this week is going, as long as you have fun…
I’ll look into them other skills. Always down to try out new things. So far they way I built this guy I do good in almost every situation. Now I don’t win many 1vs1 but not really built for it but usually since I can take tons of hits someone else usually jumps in or the other just runs away. So in the end I’m still standing I’ll say 50% of 1vs1. I prefer mesmer or ele for 1vs1 and smaller fights.
Not sure I can live without save yourself. Its a good cleanse for others and also a stun breaker. I also use that and retreat to keep my swiftness up to move around faster
Few more days of this event and then I can go back to roaming. Although it did bring me back to my guardian again which I seemed to have been ignoring for awhile. Will probably play him some more now and try out some of your suggestions.
(edited by briggah.7910)
Probably the most fun I had during this entire event.. So many golems went BOOM!!
Woah that looks like a blast!
It was fun till they decided they were not going to take our keep and gave up

Wow, that’s gotta be the longest I’ve seen anyone stay on oil before.
Why not pack some reflects? Also, I think shelter’s going to be a lot better against those golems. “Retreat” isn’t going to help much against the golem’s multi-hit attacks.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing. It is tough to be melee this week. =p
Haha that oil did its job though. As for reflects and shelter I never really use it on this build. I have another guardian that I been messing around with other builds but this guy is support/tanky and I try my best to never use my heal. Might actually try it though because shelter is good for all the blocks.
I’ve got over 3k hours with this build or well a newer version of this build so I’m so used to running these utilities. Some people poke fun at me cause I don’t run stability but I never relied on it much so I didn’t see the stab changes as becoming game breaking like some did.
I haven’t even played my guardian in some time as I been running around on a new full zerker staff ele but since this event I came to find out that full zerker is not good against golems hehe
Whats worse is when some cheater running some speed hack hops into one, won’t get out, followers your commander around and then people call your entire server trash on some other forums because of one player..
Better if I don’t comment about his “performance” in that video.
I would bet 50 cents that the golem event was strongly pushed by him too.
Or…may be he is too much out of touch with his game to even know there is a golem event.
Or,may be he is too much out of touch to know he is involved into this game leadership.Poor developers…
Maybe this event was to bring people into this event that only do PVE to make his statement more true? :P
The way ArenaNet goes about handling the community is awful, in my opinion. Sure, it’s one thing to say you don’t want to promise things and then renege on that and disappoint people hence everything they’re doing being shrouded in mystery, but not communicating with the playerbase at all is hardly a better alternative.
Take a leaf out of Yoshi’s book:

So FFXIV is still a flop to its fans that play on mac.. Glad I gave up on FF after their first flop.
You never tried it again?! Big mistake, sir! Awesome old school mmo with a fresh touch and you can feel the love some guys put into this game.
BTW: Nobody wants to play on mac…nobody…
Yea I don’t get why people try and play games on macs LOL
But I did try it. I got into every closed beta until it was released. Although it was better then the first released it just wasn’t enough for me to throw monthly fees at a game again.

99% of the time downed state is just prolonging the inevitable. I would say just get rid of downed state but the amount of wasted finishers would surely cause rage.
I think mainly in pvp enemies would rather prolong the inevitable as long as they can.
I for one hate when people don’t stomp me and I sit there waiting to die only to have to wait for the respawn timer afterwards :P Its a tactic used by many and even I do it myself at times.
Do we really want major changes though? Most will say yes..
Yes, yes, YES!
WvW at heart is a great concept, yet suffers from many major design flaws. Start with the central mechanic of the game, holding territory, offense and defense. Any decent sized zerg can cap a keep unopposed in just a couple minutes. And if your goal is to capture something, the best strategy is to “hit ‘em where they ain’t”. So, there’s a fundamental incentive to avoid fights, not engage them. And, if you want to defend you have to invest a lot of time and money doing all the boring busy work to prepare and waiting to be attacked. That’s fine if you’re an animated soldier from an RTS, but incredibly lame for a real person. The design should be naturally drawing opponents together to compete for points, not creating a rat race of PvD.
WvW could be, and should be, the crown jewel of GW2. And ANet hasn’t even explored ways to monetize it through the gem store. There are lots of opportunities for guild and wvw based cosmetics.
Since you mentioned preparing and wasting money(guess you mean in upgrades) I will point out that this will be changing. Some people don’t even like the idea of auto upgrading but will also point out that the idea probably came from the many threads of people complaining about others ordering troll upgrades to burn your supplies and also building troll siege to halt upgrades.
If people actually split up, scouted and reacted to call outs well there wouldn’t be as much PvD’ing as there is.. WvW has become zerg everything as far as I can see. Not by everyone but just go and attack something with 5 people and see what comes after you.
Thing is people call zergs for everything now a days. I know you have seen it yourself. Zerg at so and so tower and when you get there it is like 5 – 8 people.. If people actually made correct call outs smaller groups would probably react faster.
(edited by briggah.7910)
What? All those gems used to buy finishers would be wasted and need to be refunded.
Will never happen.
The whole thing (and Anet response) is an insult to people who play WvW every week and have made the game mode what it is.
I’m not really insulted so please speak for yourself.. I play every day, not every week, and even played every day during this boring event. Some how, unlike many, I found ways to make it fun..
Ok, so I read in a different post where someone said that WvW’rs do not buy gems where pve did.
Did’t get past this part (actually I did) but really some random person posts something and you take their word for it?
Who ever said that obviously doesn’t know what they are talking about.
Tapping things is a tactic I have been using for a long time.. You also don’t need golems to do it. Rams or catas work as well, you’ll just need to run supplies. I usually start by flipping camps and if no one comes to stop me I tap something like a keep and the closest tower. Even if you are scouted they will most likely just assume its you again tapping something else. At that time is when instead of tapping I actually build siege and bust in and the tower is mine..
Doesn’t always work out that way as I’ve had zergs come and stop just me LOL but it can be fun to drive people nuts at times by tapping things and then taking over a tower to watch a bunch come and take it back.
Keep trying it out after the event is over.. Solo players actually help commanders and zergs more then most think. If you have a friendly zerg on the map attacking a keep most enemies will try to defend their keeps while leaving other objectives free to take solo or small groups..
Nice! Will do, for sure. I definitely love messing around tapping stuff. My problem in the past was just getting supply for a ram. But the low gate and golem week certainly made things easy for me haha.
When you get higher ranked and have nothing else to spend your points on you can add them to supply capacity and be able to carry around 15 supplies. If you are in a guild that runs +5 supply you can claim camps and get +5 supply that way so can carry total of 20.
Sometimes catas work better but a little slower than rams I think and running supplies to build rams the guards may respawn and attack your ram. Guild catas can be built in some guilds and are a bit pricey on the TP but they cost, if I remember, 25 supply and they do same damage as a super cata.
Also at times some don’t really check for cata’s so you can always run back after a tower is capped and check if your cata is still there hehe. If so you can just reuse it to take down the wall again. Over time though you’ll learn a bunch of tricks but only one way to find out if your tricks will work is to try out different things
They don’t always work but if you confuse the enemies enough you have a better chance that they will.
Gosh, ya’ll need to re-read
Not a thing about the golem event.
This is about hacking.
I imagine this specific situation, since three pages in, not addressed: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Blacktide-hacker-is-busy-again/page/3#post5304776
Ops LOL guess so much event stuff in every thread, even I’m guilty of not reading much.
We used to have two on our server and everyone would mass report them every time we saw them. Took months if not longer to get them banned. They seemed to have been banned around the time when there was a dev here posting and actually taking actions. Haven’t seen him in some time though.
Sad thing is I just saw one back a few days ago on a different account name. Silly hacker used his new account name from his old character name that got banned so I know its him.
He said WvW players “really like PvE”. “Since when?”, would be my question.
Probably since we protect NPC’s and take over other NPC controlled objectives.
