Charr Battle Bike - Add to Towers Please

You can make these at T1 from camps now. There is only 1 tier on camps it was updated.

That’s a good start and something I wasn’t aware of – but I still think that such an upgrade would benefit from being put on a tower and not on a camp as they flip too rapidly to make it worth placing them down. Alternatively, they would make a great option on a siege vendor as a different sort of golem type mobile siege device.

Charr Battle Bike - Add to Towers Please

Seeing the idea of “deployable mortars” on the recent poll post got me thinking – we already have these and they are even mobile and self healing.

Yes, its the charr bike-tank that is already part of the WvW game as an upgrade, but that desperately needs alteration in order to be useful.

Why don’t we see these? Well, its because they need a high tier camp in order to place the tactivator that makes them. As camps flip every few minutes, this just doesn’t happen and its not possible to protect what is quite a valuable asset. Due to all this, a very cool item that is already coded, in the game and ready to go, is almost never seen on the battlefield. That is a waste of development time and needs change.

To fix this, I propose that the charr-bike upgrade is moved to towers instead of being on camps. This way they can be protected and will see use as people wheel them out every so often. It also gives people a reason to go to towers rather than just pulling the occasional banner out of a keep when they resupply or waypoint in. It makes towers tactical and also a potential target to be assaulted or protected.

I think that this is an utmost priority. We shouldn’t be adding deployable mortars when we already have something in game that is better, more lore appropriate and ready coded but gathering dust. Lets make some noise and get our tanks back.

Do it for the legions and lets bring this to dev attention please.

We already have deployable mortars in the form of the charr motorbike-tank. The problem is that it needs an upgraded camp to use them and camps flip too quickly. We need to add that to tower tactivators instead.

its clear no one enjoys the desert borders.

That sarcasm is a little misplaced… The desert map was modified and it made it much more enjoyable for some of those who didn’t enjoy it before.

That and the rewards and stability changes are kicking up a storm, as they should be.

Edit: on the off chance that wasn’t sarcasm, some servers on the EU are queued at least 20-30 on the borderlands right now.

I don’t think he is being sarcastic – I mean, those maps really are so terrible that they are being outright removed. Considering all the work that went into them, they have to be provably super awful for anet to put them in the trash.

He is, in this case, spot on in his assessment that nobody likes them….and if anybody does, you wont be able to like them for much longer as they are about to be gone.

In the last patch they gave thieves a lot of cool unlbockable stuff and some serious damage buffs. Warriors got ….maybe 50 hit points a tick added to their heal signet.

Basically, thieves got a big push towards where they needed to be and warriors got almost nothing.

The buffs need to be huge, otherwise we may as well remove warrior from the pvp scene at this point, because they will continue to be a forgotten class.

WP has always been one to give arenanet the benefit of the doubt….so for him to finally release a rant like this is a huge warning sign for the dev team.

I would go as far as to say that for WP to have taken this stance is a sign that the very fate of GW2 hangs in the balance right now and that genuinely frightens me as I love this game and want it to continue.

It’s fine. As long as we see tangible results from this. So far the legendary team has done a very good job, and I’m certain they will continue to do a very good job in other areas of the game.

I can understand that some people might be very disappointed with this, but keep in mind that there are more goals than legendaries to achieve in this game.

If that is your definition of a good job, then I hope they don’t do that in other areas of the game…..or they will end up putting them on hold too.

I just made a sunrise sword and bought my precursor off of the trade post – building it via the “legendary journey” would have been a waste of both gold and time.

The precursor creation system is a complete waste of time and effort that serves no purpose.

Simply drop it for the other legendaries and get the gemstore team to make some shiny items with a couple of effects and I am sure most people would be happy. It would also take them about 2 weeks, considering how quickly they are able to put out items – heck – if we took the timekeeper set and had made just the greatsword, added a cool effect and said “that’s a legendary greatsword”, I would have been ok with that.

  • Lighthouse in Lion’s Arch.
  • Wizard’s Fief (That one didn’t work out so well as there’s and invisible wall just south of the diving goggle location).
  • Durmand Priory.
  • A mountain peak in the south of Lornar’s Pass.
  • Two places on the north side Malchor’s Leap.

All of them were awesome.

It doesn’t work anything like Warcraft flight. Nobody is going to be gliding into the middle of enemy camps to cherry pick enemies…well, not unless those enemies happen to live next to a handy mountain or something.

Farming the mobs at the beginning of a lvl 6 or a lvl 19 might actually be worth it to try to get these. You can farm Vials at the same time while trying to get the Amber Dipoles.

One would think that the groups farming for mist essence/ shards etc would turn up a lot of these, but their drop rate seems far beyond even those. It would be very interesting to get some details on them.

Currently, the trade post lists 85 as available for sale. I think we are looking at the new “giant eye”.

Amber Dipoles and Golem Pet Parts

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: chronometria.3708

chronometria.3708

I really think we need to make some noise about increasing the drop rate of the parts needed for fractal golem cat pets. As it is, I have had 5 ascended chests in my time doing fractals and I have never once seen one of these amber dipoles or the other items drop. I have never been in a group where someone has said they got one either.

Considering that the pets are needed in multiple amounts to get the next level (and so on, in multiples of 3), this is something that really must be looked at or they may as well not be in the game at all as pets.

I know someone thinks its cool to have super low drop rates, but when I have nearly assembled an ascended set and have yet to even see one of these things, something its really off in the numbers. Needs urgent fix please.

chronometria.3708

A reddit poster called Riche22 kindly provided me with this handy, attached chart that shows the classes used in last weeks E-sports matchups.

Thus far, the warrior is getting some rifle buffs, some cooldown changes and 50 or so extra hit points a tick when using a healing signet or similar as well as a few changes to other heals that currently just don’t work.

If I was a thief player, I would currently be hopeful. Thieves are being told about some big numbers as well as poisons that will provide unblockable attacks. The elementalist forums are already seeing posts with “thieves will kill us all” kind of vibes.

But warriors….I`m not seeing it, despite needing help just like the thieves do. Just what is it we are getting as warriors to put us back in the picture….and why has it not already been mentioned as was the case with thieves (who no doubt will get even more cool things to be pleased with).

Just what are warriors meant to be looking forward to?

Warrior changes in Jan/15 balance preview

in Warrior

Posted by: chronometria.3708

chronometria.3708

Although these aren’t the full changes (their words), I have very little hope for real sustain buffs. No protection access, no reliable condi removals (necros will eat warriors alive), very slow attacks, instant adrenaline decay at a super rate, only 1 sources of healing while other professions have multiple sources. GG Anet

The quickness of adrenaline decay is my primary concern, I would say. I have had a lot of occasions where I`ve charged up my burst skill only to lose it as soon as my target drops. I don’t even have time to select another enemy and have to start the fight all over again, effectively.

If there was a delay of a few seconds, even, before it started to deplete, then that would make a huge difference. As it is, its so quick that I cant even activate an ability that gives me full rage and then immediately enter rage. In that split second it is already at 99 percent and thus useless.

An alternative would be to have us automatically enter the rage state when the bar fills. It doesn’t cost us anything and quite often I`ll trigger it for the bonuses even when I am not using the burst. I also know that it will hold my adrenaline. I know they are keen to have a lot of player interaction, but as it is, we are spamming rage anyway.

Warrior changes in Jan/15 balance preview

in Warrior

Posted by: chronometria.3708

chronometria.3708

Not sure about those rifle changes. I think I understand where they were going with the rollback thing – in that often the rifle is used as a kiting weapon when health runs low. Even so, its a bit strange and could potentially kill the user in lots of circumstances where there is a drop nearby.

My issue with this is that brutal shot is needed to keep adrenaline high. The rifle was changed a while back so that it gives extra adrenaline on targets that have vulnerability, which brutal shot gives. A roll is a handy thing on my ranger, but that’s a utility skill. Roll on brutal shot is going to be clumsy unless the rifle is changed to give vulnerability on its normal attack (which would be quite nice).

Piercing should really be integral to the weapon, rather than on just a select few abilities. A decent ranged weapon should either do lots of area effect stuff or should pierce. I run rifle but cant actually take the trait, so I am glad that some piercing is being put on the rifle itself, but its strange that its auto attack isn’t going to get it.

Gliding - Everywhere - but not WvW

chronometria.3708

Gliding is about to be everywhere, it will become something everyone takes for granted. Whole combats will change – the priest of grenth throws us all in the air….we glide down again and don’t outright die.

Gliding is about to move from being an interesting option to being part of the core character’s movement about the world and even in combat. That’s a huge step and we need to have WvW as being a part of it.

Leave it in pve where it belongs then, it has no place in a competitive mode. If you cant understand why it would be bad to allow people to FLY in wvw…then I dont know what to tell you.

WvW is pve – or at least is supposed to share the same systems. We are not Spvp, we do not use Spvp armour and amulets. We are supposed to walk into the gates and our characters will behave exactly as they do on a pve map.

If you want to stop people gliding into keeps, then give the guards the ability to shoot down flying targets – mobs in maguuma already have that in some places and it wouldn’t be hard to implement.

Also, if we go with your reasoning, then Mesmer portals just wouldn’t work in WvW, but they do and yes, whole armies can go from outside stonemist to the inner area with portals. But that’s ok apparently.

A skill from one profession, is not the same as everyone having the same ability, by your reasoning it would be like giving every profession access to portals. Do you think thats healthy for wvw?

All you need is one Mesmer in a group and everyone may as well have that ability, because they are all going through that portal. Regardless, with the current state of WvW, yes, I`d actually be quite happy for there to be air-drops, with gliders all over the place. The combat would be interesting, there would be new tactics and things would be incredibly lively and fun.

I`d also have a heck of a lot of fun shooting down people coming in on gliders, or fighting to establish beachheads in enemy areas.

It would be glorious warfare of the highest order, but feel free to go P-V-door for another three years of no change if you want.

Maybe it will get a covering fire ability, that dazes or gives AOE protection or something. That would be welcome, as the current shot that gives vulnerability is not satisfying to use. Imagine if rifle caused vulnerability on its autofire, that would be very nice. Base piercing would be great too.
