Sometimes I do question the sensibility of some people, they do know how hard it is for some people to handle what they have to go through, and then they mock them.

art is subjective, as our tastes.
Just because you don’t like the new LA as much doesn’t mean it’s less of a work of art than the old one.
This one has plenty of beautifl stuff around, and a solid concept I enjoy.
Expecting them to rebuild LA to be like the old one was not really realist.
Even according to real history. When something important is destroyed, people don’t rebuild it just like it was, they prefer to build something different, because it means a new beginning.
When the WTC was destroyed they didn’t rebuilt the twin towers. In here it’s similar (other than LA being just in a game of course).

Like some people have said already, other people really don’t see how important this can be to someone. Why would you even care so much if you don’t like it?
To others it might be very important, so let them have it.

I find it silly when people have the “I don’t want to see that kind of things in a videogame, a videogame is fantasy and I don’t want to see real life problems on it”
most videogames have war, murders, poverty, love stories, political complots, betrayals, thievery, and violence and that’s not a problem for anyone.
But when something that has to do with a non straight person or relatinoship, it then becomes a bold political move that should be left out of videogames.

the old one was indeed more original, but I love the new design, it reminds me of Gaudi a bit, love the wavy architecture. it looks surrealistic.

I’ll never get people who got the ultimate versions JUST because of the character slot, I mean if that’s all you want, then just get the regular version and buy a char slot, it’s m,uch cheaper.
If you bought the ultimate version I assume it’s because you wanted other benefits of it aswell, so complaining now that you only wanted the character slot doesn’t make sense at all.

why do people car so much to get best cheaper option no matter the cost? (not $$cost)
wan the cheaper options available? don’t get the game until the final expansion, loose years and years of fun because you just prefer to pay less.
what happens in here is what happens in EVERY MMO, with each new expansion, previous content becomes cheaper to get. are you going to react like this with each new expansion?
I bought WoW mists of pandaria for the regular price, and got a really cheap price for the rest opf the game (core game + all previous expansions) it’s how it works, get used to it.

why do people still think that expansions will vary its side depending on the content they have?
all expansions on WoW have costed more or less the same, all expansions on most MMOs have costed the same, no matter if they have more or less content.

old players and new players get EXACTLY the same thing, a NEW account with both core game + HoT.
now the old players hace the CHOICE to applpy the expansion to their existing account instead of having a completely new account, so they can continue to develop their characters.
However by doing some they lose the additional core game, since they already have it on their old account.

I’d love for the town clothes to be converted to something dyeable. outfits would be good and maybe a source of income for the company, but I’d love more for them to be converted into armor skins so we can mix and match them.

I’m all for divertisy, but 90% long coats is not really diversity.
males have really few options if we want something “lighter” looking.

we need way more form fitting leather and stuff like that in medium armor, I hate long coats and I have really few options that are different

Neverwinter comes with TWO character slots originally, and after 6 modules, we haven’t got any new ones for free.

I did get the game just a few months ago, and I ain’t even mad. it’s how things work, prices change all the time.
Am I going to be mad at the store because the jeans that I bought yesterday for 30$ are in sale 15$ today? I doubt it.

let’s see how things will be in 1 year from now:
old player paid 160$ = played 4 years of the game.
new player paid 100$ = played 1 year of the game.
sounds fair to me.

I was always a bit saddened that there was this whole destroyed place. Let’s hope it will bring LA to its former glory.

New players don’t get more for the same price. Old player got years of playing this game for it. New players will NEVER have that.

depends on the jumping puzzle, I’ve done many of them in 5-10 mins.
some of the other dailies take more than that to me.

I think they should have more daily options to get the 100%. for now we have 4 options I think? and have to do 3 in order to get the 100%, I’d love to have 5 or more options.

the lack of new content in the new expansion is the only argument I can get behind in the whole craziness that has ensued these last days around here.
but again, prepurchases are usually done pretty much with not enough info. I just hope they will in fact add enough content to justify it.

I know the forums have been on fire lately with the whole Hot pricing stuff, but I wanted to speak about something entirely different myself.

I have been playing this game for a couple of months, and I have to say I’m amazed by it. I’ve played many MMOs before (Ragnarok Online, WoW, Tera, Neverwinter DCUO, Champions Online, Forsaken World, Perfect World, Grand Fantasia, STO, SWTOR, Neverwinter, and many other that I played for only a few days) And the difference shows, it really does.

Just before this game I was playing another MMO that has turned into a “Grind and Refine Online”, the player base is 90% of people who just care about loot, about getting BiS, no matter how you do it, doing the worst things as players to hurt others in order to get your epic lootz, and not caring about anything else in the game but refining items thousands of times.

I’m not like that, I enoy exploring, I enjoy reading the lore and stories of each place, roleplaying my character, and this game has been heaven for me in those aspects, lore IS important, each place has its own story, you as a player have your own story that matters, there’s tons of exploration and hidden things to be found, and there’s a pretty good RP community.

None of the other games I played before have done this the way GW2 has, and it makes me very happy to know that there are others interested in this too. Also I’ve seen a much more mature community, compared to other games. Most MMO forums are filled with complains and whining but the community here is different (at least there wasn’t much complaining until a few days ago).

I have no problem in geting HoT (not as a pre purchase though, I don’t pre purchase games) when it’s finally available and I think the price is worth it, because it’s not just the expansion, it’s my way to contribute to a company that seems to care to their customers instead of hating them and considering them merely a way top get the most money the fastest possible (like the company behind the MMO I was playing before) no one has forced me to spend anything in this game, and most of the stuff I’ve gotten is just cosmetic fluff, which I enjoy getting. So to know that after 3 years of free content they have an expansion, I’m more than willing to get it.

Sometimes people don’t value what they have. GW2 is a kick kitten game, one of the best in the market right now, and I think if they value their playerbase we also can value them as the company who made this game.

for your sandwich comparison:
-you bought a sandwich yesterday for 2$.
-today there is a new ingredient on your sandwich, tomato.
-they now sell the sandwich for 3$
-you go and complain you want just the tomato for less than 3$ since you already have the sandwich, but they tell you they only come together, so you can’t get the tomato on its own unless you pay the full prize.
-you complain about being a “loyal” customer. (even though some of those are known to just sit on the place to steal wifi).
-they remind you that they know that and each year for your birthday they give you special freebies. But you want more.
-you keep complaining.

because what you’re asking is impossible, they can’t give you something you already have, simple as that. And that is what you people can’t wrap around your head. all you think is “I have been playing a long time, and therefore I need compensation and special treatment. beacuse birthday freebies and stuff isn’t enough.”

if you think the game isn’t good enough then you can always just stop playing. There are others in here that think this is a fantastic game and well worth its price.
I’ve played many MMOs in the past and I have to say the difference in quality shows.

I’ve played Neverwinter for almost 2 years, it has had around 6 modules (small expansions) with some new content. thever have been new races and new classes added. not even ONCE did we get any free character slot with them.

this is ridiculous, if I get a pair of jeans for 30$ and the next week they’re on sale for 10$ am I going to complain? of course not!
for those of us who already got the core game, we had well over its value over the time we had it. we can’t be angry because the new players get it for cheaper. (50$ instead of 90$ for old players)
this has become absolutely ridiculous and people are complaining about everything.
The only valid complain I’ve heard so far is that the amount of content in HoT might not justify a 50$ expansion, but that’s a completely diferent topic.

why SHOULD it include a character slot? I’ve played multiple MMOs with lots of new expansions and having a new character slot is not the default at all.

I’ll never get all the drama that RP sometimes has, maybe it is tht I’m older but it seems like a childish thing to get angry OOC for things that are being said IC, I mean some of my friends are total kitten IC but we al know it’s not real, and we have a great time laughing about it OOC at the same time. Is it really that hard to make the difference for some people?

Wow, I have been playing just a few months but my impression has been vastly different from others have posted in here.
This is the MMO Ive seen with the most lively RP community so far. I’ve found many RP guilds already, and most of them have been really nice to me. Also there is another RP website about GW2 that is actually active and it’s really easy to find guilds for me.
it’s true that I haven’t found random people Rping that much, but I guess it can be expected with such a big world and many different servers.
I’ve played Neverwinter, Tera , DCUO and many others and the RP community in all of those is almost non existant. This game, alongside with Champions online and WoW are the only ones with a decent RP community.

Even though I have to say I love the game and area design, I don’t have a favorite one, many of them look pretty much the same, with exceptions like ascalon, orr, and a few others.
Most of the areas have some fields, some forests, some coast, and some swamp, and they kind of look like eachother a bit. I wish there were a bit more unique in that aspect.
My favorite area would probably be either Ascalon ruins or Orr. I like creepy places. (I’d love for this game to have more creepy looking places, like dark misty woods, graveyards, abandoned creepy towns, etc.

powerfantasy vs sexy eyecandy isn’t just about the clothes themselves, but also about the poses, the voice, the attitude, basically.
The same clothes can be either power fantasy or sexy eyecandy depending on the attitude and intention. For girl characters most poses, emotes, animations are usually more directed to sexy eyecandy, and for males most of them are aimed towards power fantasy. That doesn’t mean that girl characters can’t be power fantasies or guys can’t be eyecandy, it’s just that even with the same clothes, it would probably tend ot go that way.

I use last names and haven’t had a problem so far.

there are a few options in WoW, but they are mostly very old armors and now clash with the much more detailed characters.
I really think we dhould have more variety, 99% of the medium armor is some kind of long coat.

I disagree with the “all grind is the same” point of view.
Even if by definition everything we do in a game is ultimately optional, there’s a big difference between content gated behind grind, than just grind for cosmetic stuff or things that don’t unlock content.

I’m new at the game, and I just wanted to say that I’m loving it so far! The games has most thing that I love and always had trouble finding in other MMOs.
It has lots of exploration, lots of easy and rewarding teamwork, a rp community, very handsome and hunky male characters, lots of house and tavern interiors for RP, and I don’t feel so trapped doing quest after quest qfter quest when levelling.
I know that many people may think that I like it just because I’m new but I think it’s also important to give the opinion of some new people that are starting.

To make this topic a worthwhile discussion, what do you guys enjoy about Gw2? whings things are what make you come back to play it?
