the thing is when people claim they want real lfe issues to stay outside of gw2 or any mmos, they are either ignorant or just deliberately lying. gw2 is already filled with real life issues. war, poverty, political manipulation, love, relationships, are all real life issues, but no one cares about that, only certain topics are considered unwanted real life issues…
all fantasy humans create will always have real life issues, we mimic what we live and experience. sure, there are no dragons in real life, but what dragons cause in tyria is a reflection of what other things cause in real life.

we are humans, and social/political issues impact every corner of our lives.
Media is also a great way to show social issues and help better us as a society. People were also against people of color being used on movies and TV back then, it’s exactly the same that now. Unless you’re specifically talking about political candidates or something like that. social issues are part of media, and games, specially MMOs.

Endless versions of all tonics?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

coso.9173

I’d love to have a way to have endless versions of all tonics. I mean tonics are mainly just cosmetic, so I don’t see why there shouldn’t be a way to do it.
It would be really nice for RP and just because some of us like to turn into enemies or random stuff without having to make them over and over again…
what do you think about it?

when a fictional character is made, nothing just “happens” all is there for a reason. this is not real life. when you put a strong female protagonist it is not because it just happened that way. it’s because the author has a point he wants to show through his/her character. every part of every fictional character is there for a reason. Does that mean everything is an agenda then?
if you put a trans character it’s of course because the author wants to express their point of view on some issue, but that doesn’t mean that the character will be only valuable because he/she is trans and won’t be an important and coherent part of the story.

why do people assume that if they include a lgbt character it will be just a token character with awful background to be put 8n a pedestal just to show how progressive anet is?
would you react the same to a straight character?
its is not about being a sjw, or microaggresion bs, but including a trans npc should not create such trouble in the first place. it is just a npc in a mmo story, why would people be in arms about such a simple thing?

I have no problem with her or any other trans character being part of the important group. But I also think it’s important to have diversity shown in npc’s, where it’s seen as something absolutely normal for others, and no one giving a kitten about it.
Just make it right and not so it looks like “hey! we have a trans character! look at us!” good writing can go a long way.

I’m glad Anet is a lgbt friendly company, I used to play WoW and most of the community in there is awful in that regard, and Blizzard having absolutely no lgbt characters, even small npc’s (that I know of) don’t really help the case. There is a saying that goes: “If in an abuse situation, you don’t take any side, then you’ve already sided with the abuser”.

simpler armor choices?

coso.9173

I know there have been a number of different armor topics in gw2 along the years, but so far I haven’t read anything about making simpler looking armors.
many of us don’t really enjoy the overdetailed armor, with lots of curves or spikes or skulls or stuff, just leather simple armor and clothes.
something that looks closer to this https://40.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_md0tgoGViV1rengi5o1_500.jpg
so far I’ve only found one of the human cultural armor that looks relatively close to it, but it’s the only choice among many others that are mostly filled with stuff to the brim.
anyone else would also enjoy simpler looking armor choices?
also, why not put the town clothes as outfits at least? that way they could be dyeable and even if we can’t mix and match, we could wear them to battle and dye them! which would be 1000% times better than just the awful tonics NO ONE uses

I’d personally love to have mounts. Gw2’s maps are so beautiful and I feel it’s sad that we never get to see them much becase we’re just using WPs all the time. I would love to grab my mount and just ride away appreciating the beautiful world of Tyria.
I don’t see it happening though, since those things should be probably planned from before and might complicate things more now.
But still, one can dream…

I know it is supposed to take a while, but we’re already several months into HoT, and I’m not even close to finishing any of them. there are 20 mastery skills in Hot, and I dn’t think I’ll complete them before a year or so. I don’t play everyday but I would like to progress in something each day. Now that I have world completition, masteries is what I’m working on, but it feels horribly slow

Is it just me or they take really long to level? I do map event metas, and even for events that take 20+ more mins, I get around 5-8% of a level, meaning I would need to spend like an entire day playing to get a level…
Am I doing something wrong? or is it just that grindy? maybe they could reduce the exp needed?

Why is armor design so poor in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: coso.9173

coso.9173

what bothers many of us about skimpy outfits is not that they exist, but mainly 2 issues:
-when most of the female outfits or armor is skimpy, you’re taking options away from them, you can only be sexy, and many girls don’t want to only look sexy. So, more options is better.
-males don’t really get many skimpy outfits or armor choices (I’m looking at you, medium armor human male)and some guys also want the option to look sexy and show some skin, so again, more options would be apreciated.

I don’t think anyone wouldbe against sexy armor for females if they had the CHOICE to wear them or not, and if males had comparable options to dress skimpy too.

For a more company like Anet, that has tried t be progressive, this should be a non issue at all.

yeah, I meant that male and female armor in FF look at least alike and part of the same set. in here we have the https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Krytan_Medium_Armor_Skin Krytan medium armor, where the differences between genders is just ridiculous. females get a tight skin armor with a cool sleveless short jacket. and guys? oh, just ANOTHER long coat, because you know, we really need another one of these…

i would be much happier if both males and females if every race and armor weight could actually choose to wear more covered armor or showing more skin. and please not more gendered armor that look vastily different on guys and girls. i mean sure, a open chest armor for males might need a bra for females, but besides that they should be pretty much the same.

what could help is to ADD a slower way to travel, so those of us who enjoy traveling around could be happy too.
more options are always good, less options is mostly always bad.
add flying ships and regular ships that travel between strategic points, maybe a few asura portals here and there and fixed! those of us who don’t want to be constantly clicking waypoints get to enjoy traveling.

what kind of update do you prefer?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: coso.9173

coso.9173

If you could choose the type of update gw2 gets (meaning new content, not talking about bug fixes and that)
-stable often updates with short chapters (I think that’s how they did it in the past, I wasn’t here though) witih some new maps and stuff like that.
-longer and more spaced updates with more content, like HoT and actual expansions.
PLEASE, don’t turn this into a HoT bashing, or complaining about the amount of content it had, I’m talking in general here.

I would personally prefer shorter updates but more often, like every few months some new chapter into a story. I hate waiting too long, even if it is for a much longer content update.

what about you?

Hello guys, I don’t know if you’ve heard about the Bartle test before, it’s a test that classifies gamers into 4 main types, socializers, achievers, killers and explorers. It’s a pretty neat test and at least for me it helped me clarify a lot why I enjoy certain things so much in games and despise others. (I’m an explorer, with over 85%, and killer under 30%) I think it also helps explain why people expect so many different things in a game, from eachother.
If you want to do it and share your results, here’ the adress for it. I’d love to hear your results and opinions on it.

-barbarian /leather straps medium armor, and more variety instead of coats
-change the blue lose trunks for briefs for male characters underwear.
-more hairstyles are always welcome
-more creepy places, haunted forests, abandoned houses and villages, graveyards, more dark stuff.
