All I need is 5 pips. But it’s clearly not going to happen when I’m going up against 3 necros and 2 dh’s every match.

I’d really love to play my staff daredevil as it’s what I enjoy the most and feel I’m best at, but it isn’t viable in this “meta.” There are really only a few select professions that actually have any use in ranked matches or pvp in general at this point, and only a few select builds out of those few professions.

As a thief I shouldn’t have to resort to frantically running around the map looking for empty points to camp to make myself useful in a PVP match, instead of actually getting to combat other players.

It’s just aoe fear and knock downs from dragon hunter traps or scrapper stuns and necro stuns. The level of cc in this game is out of control and all elite professions did was add more along with the need for diminishing returns on these abilities.

The season is horrendous. The silence from the devs and their little practice of doing nothing about it until the season is over only to break it even more next season is tiring.

I guess we need more guild chat streams about the behind the scenes of the game than actual commentary on the issues with the actual playable game.

I really don’t have anything left to say at this point. I’ve ranted and raved and b***ched and moaned endlessly in game and on the forums, along with many others, and it’s clearly not going to matter because they have no interest in anything but daily sales on the gemstore and “esports.”

If this matchmaking system is working as intended, then they’ve made their point very clear that they want me to feel so discouraged about this aspect of the game that I never step foot in it again.

Highly disappointed with rapidly diminishing faith in this company that I once had a really high opinion of.

1. Blow-out.
2. We have a 100 or 200 point lead and then suddenly the whole team goes braindead and we would up losing for a reason I can’t even fathom. Maybe people need their Ritalin.
3. People constantly going for that third point instead of parking their kitten down and defending a point.
4. People mass running into dragon hunter traps.
5. The list goes on.
6. The other team is class stacking necros and dragonhunters or bunker eles and we have no counter for any of them because Billy Bob and Sue want to roll glass cannon thieves that die 2 minutes into the match.

Frankly, I consider myself decent, at least nowhere near the lack of skill level of half of the mongoloids I’m placed with.

If only you could block people from your matches.

Luckily there are more than 10 who play GW2 PvP. Also saying that it is impossible for the lower MMR team to win against a team with slightly higher MMr is wrong. As long the difference is not too big, everything is possible.

Sorry to burst your bubble… but I get the same players in both teams over and over and over and over….

Wishful thinking has it that there were at least 20+ players in everyone’s pip range… but nope. Not enough players anymore.

It is the same people over and over again. Occasionally they switch sides, but generally if you’re in a losing team you will be in that same losing team for another 20 losses until by the grace of whatever higher being may or may not exist in the universe, you happen to win out of sheer luck. (Of course only to lose the next one so that the never-ending grind continues.)

Nobody groups up in map chat despite spamming for 30 minutes. Nobody in any of my 5 guilds want to group up.

Is it because this season is complete and utter crap that nobody is interested in it?

Last season I had quite a few win streaks with people in one of my guilds, but this season nobody even responds to my question.

One thing is for sure, I’m beyond sick and tired of solo queue and this disgraceful matchmaking system.

At this point I would be making better use of my time if I intentionally threw the match for the other team just so they would move onto a different division and I would have a chance.

One tier till Ruby and I’m never stepping foot in ranked again. It’s simply not worth the frustration, or the grind. It’s not fun, and frankly I don’t understand how this could even qualify as an “E-sport” anyway with how poorly balanced everything is or the fact that ultimately a team can win without even engaging in that much combat due to rotating better and standing on circles.

Really exciting.

Hey, that was my team! We were on a good winning streak until we got in a match with 2 stunlock warriors that mowed us all down. Then at some point around 3 we just kept losing and gave up.

And all we’ll get at this point is a Guild Chat acknowledging that they’re listening but nothing actually being done. Especially about the matchmaking system. I started way too late apparently. I’ve been playing staff daredevil thief and am actually getting pretty good at it, but when you lose 15 times in a row only to get on a dragonhunter or a necro and have a slightly better chance of winning, (only to be followed by 3 losses getting rid of your pips) it’s discouraging. I’ve been trying to grind out the last 4 tiers of sapphire to get the last set of wings I need, but it’s apparently not going to happen this season. I advertise that I’m looking for a group in map chat, nobody responds on any character.

The game seems kind of dead right now, and no content outside of bugged poorly matched pvp leagues and gem sales, there really isn’t a whole lot to keep people’s interest. The next quarterly update is going to be reiterating on collections and making improvements, right? So we get a chance at more bags and chests to open to salvage greens and wait another 4 months for an actual content update?

I don’t know. I used to have a high opinion but due to lack of communication it’s rapidly dwindling. Perhaps it’s from when I started playing and there were little content updates every two weeks that I got spoiled. Now we’re lucky to see something every six months it seems.

I still choose it over WoW, but grinding out this pvp season that’s 10 times worse than last season is doing nothing but ruining my interest, and there is f*** all else to do that I haven’t already done outside of raids.

Now that I think about it, you could add the concept of shares gear slots. I have multiple characters that need the same ascended gear, which is already account bound but this would allow me to actually better gear up multiple characters. Only issue would be the runes or sigils

I share your sentiment, op. It seems the focus has been entirely on pvp seasons and raid wings that I’ll probably never complete.

Would be nice to have a new map or something to tide us over. I’m interested in finding out what the quality of life improvements are next quarterly update, but it seems like it won’t be anything as exciting as a new map or hint at where the story is going from where it left off after Mordremoth. Just seems like an insanely long gap from killing the big bad of this expansion to going months and months without dealing with the aftermath.

Instead we get a “reworked” pvp season that’s 10 times worse than the last, and a sloth.

Would be nice to have a tutorial/story mode of the raids for 5 players that don’t provide as great of rewards but allow those of us that don’t even have interest in seriously raiding to see the content.

Just roll 4 or 5 reapers since that seems to be the go-to solution for this season.

In all sincerity, scrapper/reaper/chronomancer/guardian/revenant is probably the best comp. They seem to be the strongest at least.
When I see people that are diamond or legendary, they’re all either necro, revenant, or Mesmer.

I’ve yet to see a diamond or legendary division thief.

1 Reaper can spawn at most 6 of those Shambling Horrors, and only if they hit 5 targets.

In theory, they could get up to 12, with good alacrity and perfect hits.

All of the minions do create issues when you are downed and cannot target a reaper with 1% health because 5 minions are standing between you. Granted you would still lose due to the lifesteal of the downed necro, but body blocking in downed state gives an unfair advantage. No more than stealth does, but at least stealth has a short duration.

Body blocking is something you will have to work around.

If you’re dead and can’t reposition yourself to target the player?

I’ll take a shot.

Warrior and dual pistols would be interesting. I’m not sure how that would play out but it would most likely be another condition heavy spec. (Not a big warrior fan though.)

Necro – Acolyte
Weapon would be hammer and this specialization would be focused on shadow damage/monk-like damage for healing and group utility/buff abilities. Such as emphasis on conditions marking targets to grant healing to attackers as well as a percentage of all ticking condition damage split amongst allies within range.

Elementalist – Arcanist
Weapon would be dual wield swords and would be a melee based arcane specialization that focuses on intense single target damage with utility spells such as a precision and fury increasing field, and summonable arcane effigies such as orbs and crystals that explode for aoe damage.

Engineer – Golemnmancer
This specialization would implement not a new weapon, but an actual golemn suit that grants access to a wide range of unique abilities that can be altered to focus on movement enhancement, group utility, or purely damage and crowd control abilities. (But I would have to have a matching Iron Man themed golemn!)

Mesmer – Astromancer
This specialization would work similarly to the way Revenant legends work but would instead focus on specific constellations and astral entities each granting a specific skillset. (Possible constellation involving focus on longbows.)

Thief – Sniper
As suggested by others this would be focused on very long range stealthing assassination abilities and would allow the use of rifles, perhaps an elite skill that grants stealth and a scope mechanism that allows you to zoom in very long range on a player for high damage. Another base ability could be similar to dual pistols with an assault rifle style barrage ability.

Revenant – Legendary Titan Stance
A new specialization that uses greatswords and is a slow swinging high damage and moderate defensive specialization that grants return healing based on damage done. This specialization would also have a large amount of crowd control.

Ranger – Shaman
This specialization would grant access to dual daggers and be focused on shapeshifting into the form of your chosen beast. Also similar to the revenant legendary stances, this specialization would fulfill a wide variety of roles depending upon which animal totem you choose, whether it be a fierce Kodan capable of tanking intense mobs, Tengu stance that allows agile close encounter abilities, or Naga stance that allows for focus on ranged spell damage abilities that can be altered to damage foes or heal allies. (Forms can be substituted with actual beasts to make more sense.)

Guardian – Bard
This specialization would use focus and warhorn with emphasis on crowd control abilities, buffs and condition damage, and have spirits. By spirits, I mean this specialization could use musical abilities to resurrect temporary spirits that serve similarly to Mesmer clones and illusions and provide specific utilities or damage abilities.

Something needs to be done about it, at least in solo queue matches.

There should be no reason why I should be entering two or three games in a row with 3 or 4 necros on the opposite team, or to be fair my team.

Obviously as devs, you can’t force someone to play a specific profession because it would diminish the experience if they want to play on that profession.

But can there be an algorithm implemented that will prevent this kind of situation from happening to solo queue players? It really creates an insanely unfair advantage.

At the very least incentivize people to bring other professions instead of just stacking necros knowing they have insane condition damage and multiple health bars that will win any group point capture 4 times out of 5.

Agree with the condi clear. I have one mes that runs as marauder’s with greatsword/sword/pistol and it does a ton of damage. It’s fun and I still have some survivability.

Another mes with condi staff/scepter/shield build that’s also fun but a completely different playstyle with more survivability and relies solely on constant shatters for quickness and burst damage/utilities.

It just depends on which playstyle you’re good at/used to/enjoy the most. I’ve found the biggest help playing a Mesmer is just knowing which abilities to use because it seems to be all about utilities.

Like gravity well or cc, shatter 4 for invulnerability, the stealth clone spell for escaping or distracting, and the defender illusion ability which is nice but doesn’t always work.

Just play a bunch of different builds until you find one you feel you’re comfortable with and decent at.

Mainly, just be glad you aren’t a warrior.

I hope they don’t buff anything on Thief other than what is not used right now. The class is very strong, but could use some buffs to some utilities and weapons (offhand dagger 4, pistol 1)

The damage is fine, sure, but the survivability is still crap.

You have to either be really good at ganking or just get lucky to not get shot down quickly.

It’s a shame it’s so hard to stay alive without playing the stealth and run game because it’s really the most fun class in pvp I’ve played outside of Mesmer.

I’m not really sure how they would create more survivability though. I guess if you know how to take advantage of a daredevil staff build you could probably be fine, but without some constant immobilizing it’s a little hard to keep up with opponents jumping and moving around all the time. Especially with pulmonary impact requiring you to hit them every time. Impact strike having a wind up time along with good placement really sucks too.

And the endless necro healthbars are great when you’re playing as one, but when you have 3 people beating on one that managed to heal himself to 75% health and get another full bar of life force only to repeat the process over and over again makes things like capping nodes and territory struggles a little unfair. Not even going to address bunker eles. But those at least require a little bit of finesse to play.

I can’t get past first tier of emerald. Win one, lose 3. I don’t know what they did this season, but they really screwed it up. It has nothing to do with personal skill, it’s coordination and people actually working together. One person can’t carry a team.

Especially when that team is fighting people in front of the supply deposit at spawn and STILL dying repeatedly, or constantly going after one base while STILL dying repeatedly.

Nobody communicates in chat or responds, nobody has any desire to actually win the match.

Personally, I don’t think pvp should boil down to standing on a node and waiting for the points to hit a certain number, but given the mechanics and class imbalance I’m not sure there would really be any other mode for pvp.

Anyway, if I somehow manage to make it to ruby I’ll have my precursor wings and can finally be done. At this point, I’d rather them just put the skin on the trading post so I can go back to playing unranked for the fun of it instead of reaching a seemingly unobtainable goal by grinding my soul away in endless losing matches with people who are either too apathetic to be strategic or just plain clueless.

It wasn’t this bad last season. Not until Ruby at least.

I don’t do it for exploitive purposes, just void jumping to get amazing views and really high places to glide from. I won’t say I haven’t peeked up through the terrain to mess with people though. Like to think of myself as a land crocodile. LOL

Not to necro but I found a slight work around. It doesn’t always work but if you place an item or two and then close out of decorate mode and renter it doesn’t cause a crash usually. It’s a pain and nobody else seems to have an issue with it but it’s worked enough for me to make an awesome jumping puzzle in my guild hall. Lol

Decorate mode crashing client,

Still having these issues. I found a work around in which I could exit decorate mode after placing an item and do this for every item that I place or erase, and it usually doesn’t give me any issues. But at times the cursor disappears when I’m switching between the action camera mode and normal placement mode in order to get better placement. I alt tab to show the cursor again but the placement of the object is stuck and I can no longer place it freely. I’ve had multiple crashes happen after this cursor bug starts. Not sure if it’s related but it seems to be more frequent. Is this somekind of software update I need to do or somekind of memory issue? It seems almost guaranteed after placing two objects or more while remaining in decorate mode, thus having to exit and reenter anytime I want to “safely” place an object without getting this error code and client crash.

I’m not sure about anyone else, but for some reason placing objects in decorate mode crashes my client. It doesn’t seem to matter where I place them and it seems to work the first time, but by the time I place the second or third object the game just closes out and opens a send error report.

Is there anyway to fix this? Is this a known issue that’s affecting others as well?

Hope IV Cataclyst Collection – Dwarven Spell Trap isn’t working on Karka Queen.

I’ve done it twice now, only to find out it’s account-wide per day. Kind of sucks to be locked out of any chances if your only one attempt bugs out. Unless you can still get it if you aren’t eligible for the chest.

Either way, twice now I’ve done it (On the same character which I will change later just in case) at the northern spawn point Kiel’s Outpost Waypoint, and not gotten the collection achievement. Did not go down at any point, and used the spell trap each time the bar was reset the second time, did not reuse it the first time but did not down that time either.

Just isn’t giving credit.

I sincerely hope removing this from the Hope collection is among your January 26th changes, because I’m fairly certain I will never be able to complete this challenge.

The time limit is too harsh. The amount of time you have to select a position to jump to after using skill 2 must be a tenth of a second or some dismally small window you have to make before the skill is recharging for 5 seconds out of the 2 minutes you have to actually complete this horrible disaster of an adventure.

The skill 2 jump doesn’t always work either, depending on the shape of the terrain and half of the time the skill 2 has to be placed exactly perfect or you risk having the first leap go beyond what little space you have sending you completely off the cliff.

This is terrible, honestly. It’s absolutely terrible. Something has to give, whether it be the skill cooldowns being reduced, the skill 2 jump time window being increased, or the overall time limit being increased.

And yes, I’m a little upset. Just reset this stupid adventure 30 times and now I’m going to have to wait god knows how long for the Tarir meta to finish and reset so I can even participate again.
