One thing I didn’t see mentioned or must have overlooked during the livestreams, including the 3 hour post-show, was how movement is handled with the mounts.
I know they each have their own unique movement ability, but what I don’t understand is how they move.
For instance, the raptor jumps over long distances, but I didn’t see anykind of special action key telling it when to jump. Is it just the plain space bar for the special movements?
Or is it something in the game engine that registers when there is a gap and it simply knows to jump? The same could be applied to the teleport on the Jackal or the jump on the springer.
If it’s automatic, how will that work in the rest of Tyria?
If it’s the space-bar, it makes a little more sense.
Just wondering if anyone saw this clarified on any of the streams.
Yep. And mounts in core Tyria.
Reminder that we got six new maps in LS3, so we’re actually probably going to get about 11-12 maps by the time this expansion and LS4 are over.
Of course, I imagine the LS4 maps will be smaller than PoF maps…
I have a feeling some of those will be dispersed among other locations throughout Tyria. But yes, definitely see there being a significantly larger area than shown.
Not sure if anyone has opened their world map recently since last patch, but if you do, scroll to the bottom right hand corner. It’s surprising just how far it goes now. Definitely have plans to add quite a bit to that region.
I did the entire Scar Lane yesterday by myself and it was extremely depressing. But part of the problem stems from the changes to participation and the fact that people really only have to join up right before Chak Gherent spawns.
Other than that I haven’t been in any empty maps really. I guess the core Tyria maps that I don’t go to often but I still see a few people here and there. All of that content is easily soloable and even if they aren’t you can generally find a few people to help you in map chat.
Also, with core Tyria gaining mounts I’m pretty sure others will be filling into those maps over time due to new players as well as veterans returning for map completion since it will presumably be considerably faster/easier.
I’m just looking forward to having a more optimal way of doing world completion for when I decide to go after another core legendary.
Would love if we could use these mounts in Desert Borderlands though. The others are fine, even though Alpine is still a bit of a hike, but Desert would be an amazing quality of life even after the movement system additions recently.
Is the preview of what we saw the final product, or is it similar to the other guild halls where the buildings are upgraded and the actual map changes over time?
Just wondering if they were keeping that model for the next guild hall or if the upgrades are more or less just making the buildings functional with upgrades.
It’s kind of like comparing apples to oranges though. Yes, they’re both guild halls but lost precipice is far easier to decorate and theme. Then the guilted hollow is enormous with tons of hidden areas that most people won’t even travel to which is kind of frustrating for us decorators who put a lot of time, effort, and money into creating scenes in.
I like them each equally for different reasons though it is obvious guilted hollow took significantly more work due to the complexity of the map.
Either way, they’ve both been abandoned this expansion, we rarely get new decorations, scribing is still a bit of a mess, and there’s no real incentive to explore either of them if you aren’t interested in decorating. Kind of a big let down that they seemed to get no attention outside of a few decorations here and there and some upgrades. Was really hoping this was a feature that would have been expanded upon during one of the living season patches.
All the same, still looking forward to potentially getting new ones in the upcoming expansion. Just, please, add A LOT more decorations this time around and don’t make them insanely expensive to craft or a pain to make. Looking at you, potted plants!
What did this mean in the shining blade instance when Anise said it to Livia? “You be Shadow for once.”
And then she was, an npc named “Shadow.”
Does this have something to do with Queen Jennah’s cat named Shadow? I’m confused. Who is Shadow?
Well obviously not everyone is as amazing at this game as you.
It’s kind of like they just had a bunch of different points and drew one out of a hat and rolled with it.
I really don’t mind the Lazarus and Livia reveal, but was this the best way and time? Was this really worth it to those of GW1 that have long been awaiting the reveal of these characters? Did it do them justice?
I suppose Livia’s wasn’t horrible, but poor Lazzy got shafted.
Terrible. I had no idea who the main characters in this storyline were and, after completing it, I still have no idea what any of this has to do with finding Balthazar. I literally had to go searching the forums for an explanation of who the main characters were and why I should care. As a season finale, I am simply shocked that the writers thought this would be a good way to wrap up. You blew it. Plain and simple.
It was so chaotic and fast! Like the random Henge of Denravi part that I feel I missed a lot of dialogue on because the entire time you’re trying to kill as many as you can and make sure you’re protecting the others. And in other parts where you’re busy fighting 10 other things or trying to solve some puzzle and Taimi is just muttering in your ear about Braham.
So much dialogue I didn’t even catch because it was happening while 10 other things were going on.
It’s probably great for guild wars 1 players but something like Henge of Denravi, I don’t have any background knowledge of outside of that particular instance because I never played the first game.
And it’s nice they brought in who they brought in, but why make them disappear, only to reappear and then just be killed right away. I don’t know. I really enjoy the aesthetics of the map but the rest of it was just a big miss for me. I’m still not even sure what the mastery does in the new map. Or what the point of them glowing above your head is when you use them? I guess just showing that the buff is active?
Another thing that bothered me was the extremely strange and kind of non-sensical Abaddon text from the collection. The last three pages just seem like rambling, which I guess it’s supposed because it’s written in the margin by someone studying them? But who is studying them? Why did this person have all of these pages to begin with?
I’m going to have to play through it again because I’m still feeling like I missed a lot.
Agree completely about them being a bit too strong. It’s only one condi so it isn’t hard to clear, the issue is just that the burn ticks are so frequent and stack so quickly that condi clears aren’t extremely useful here. And the burn damage does A LOT. But all burn damage in this game seems to be king of condis.
Kind of surprised they didn’t patch it in already.
Avoiding them as another person suggested isn’t always possible, as the entire area is pretty much full of them. Add that to the nets from the mercs and it’s easy to get downed. I’ve mostly just avoided this area due to how annoying many of the mobs are here.
The fact that you made something as casual as collecting Cats for our Home Instance into something hardcore is plain disgusting. You are forcing everyone who loves Cats to do Level100 Challenge Mode just to get that Cat. Most casual players cant even get it or complete their Cat collection anymore.
For those who dont know, the newest Cat requires to eat an item that only drops from the Fractal 100 CM Chest.
So that’s how you get it?
I plan on doing it eventually so I don’t mind the exclusivity, but I’m also wondering if this cat is actually modeled after a dev or something’s real life cat and this is a memorial to them. In that case I completely understand why they made it a little extra difficult to get and kudos.
“It looks better as…” is subjective. ArenaNet isn’t going to take the time and effort to change around an entire back based on the opinion of what a player feels will work better with their character design. The only thing that you can do is what we all do when it comes to weapons and backs… design around them.
Okay, IN MY OPINION it looks better as.
And I wasn’t asking to so much change the backpack as give a different option for a backpack that looks like the glider, because IN MY OPINION, the glider looks better and it does fit my character better.
They both fit, I just like the glider more.
I’m not actually expecting this as a future option, just showing out my interest in it becoming an option. I assume I’m allowed to do that?
Apparently updating the game will make it so that you can’t enter challenge mode Shattered Observatory.
Just letting people know since I just had a full group and now can’t do it because I updated.
Thanks.
The new glider is great, but can we get the backpack to match it. It looks way better with the wings out.
I know we’re in no shortage of wings, but would love to have a backpack that matches the glider. Have wanted a four wings option for awhile and the backpack although decent is not as nice as the glider!
It feels like they had this mechanic planned for a while but couldn’t find a good place for it so they went “kitten it” and just stuck it here. It feels really out of place.
That would certainly fit the theme of the rest of this episode!
Yeah, I’m not really sure what the Dirges are really there for if they’re meant for large group combat and then there are practically no major meta events or even overly challenging bosses in this map. I don’t think I’ve actually used any of the Dirges so far… or have the slightest clue what to use them for. lol
Not sure if this is meant for the whole patch or just the story, but I’ll do the whole patch.
The story, a mess. I know that some people wanted to see these specific characters, but it truly felt like they were tossed in just because of that reason. It felt like the events of this episode had no correlation with anything else going on at the moment. I’m glad we didn’t go to the Shiverpeaks, but to put one of the actual current plots to the background in like 3 lines of dialogue and exhume two characters from out of nowhere only to simultaneously resolve both of their plots in the same instance was just… what?
The cinematic was rather disappointing as well, at least in comparison to the season 2 cinematic. It was short, pretty much just showed 3 settings with a red hue and fire. It’s hard to tell what’s going on in the cinematic, but if the title of the expansion is Prophecy of Flame or something the cinematic fits perfectly.
The new fractal was, weird but interesting. It’s good to finish up the plot for Aark, but the stupid “Are you ready?” box takes up the entire screen and I missed most of what happened after we finished the fractal.
No new additions to Guild Halls and most disappointing for me though I’m sure I’m in the minority is no new guild decorations. Something I always look forward to on patch days.
The new map is nice, so no complaints there. I do however wish we could have incorporated some more masteries from other maps into it, such as Oakheart because it seems like such a waste to only have it in one map.
I think all of the pros of this patch are just overshadowed by the con of whatever the story was in this episode. It was just a mess. For the entire episode to be about what happens in this chapter of the living story, and the living story to be whatever this was…
Last episode definitely felt like a much better lead in to the expansion than this. This just seemed like it was meant for the episode after Lake Doric and they already had it done, so they were like, “What can we add in to this to make it tie in to the current plot? Oh, let’s say that Balthazar has an aspect, but we’ll just leave the aspect lying around so we don’t have to go back in and actually add Balthazar. Oh, let’s have the eye show the cinematic, that makes sense right? Okay, patch is ready.”

Scratch that, I just realized I have the secret pass and vantage point, that’s why it won’t let me. lol
I can’t seem to fit all of the scrolls in it? I still have bitterfrost and lake doric. They were in a shared inventory slot and didn’t show up at the time, but when I moved them to my regular inventory and clicked the tome it didn’t give the option to add them to the tome?
Anyone else feel like the plot this season has just been a scrambled mess?
This last episode as others mentioned has an opportunity to do the awesome collection achievement they did in Draconis Mons but involving the gods and lore about them or the exodus, but I guess they’re saving that for another time?
This reintroduction of Lazarus and introduction of Livia just feels like some random fan service thing they threw in so they wouldn’t have to talk about any of the existing plots. It’s nice that Livia is in the story after all, but did we need to revive and kill Lazarus all in one instance for no reason other than Livia shows up and decides we can help her get revenge?
I get that the previous episodes have involved Lazarus so it seems relevant, but is it?
I don’t know what to think, honestly. The whole thing just seems like a disjointed mess. There are so many other things going on between Rhytlock, Aurene, Braham, the elder dragons, Balthazar?
But they decided to just do a few lines about Braham that are hard to catch because you’re in the middle of a chaotic fight, don’t do anything with Rhytlock or Aurene, and toss in the Eye of Janthir and Lazarus while simultaneously trying to make it about Balthazar?
What is even happening anymore?

I think there’s a reason we only see the character walking away with it instead of using it or viewing it from the front.
Kind of wondering if it’s aura will be that it makes your character look undead. All you can see are the footfalls and the back of the hammer. I imagine there’s a lot more to it.
I kind of like what I’ve seen so far minus the footfalls not lasting very long as they do with all the new legendaries, especially chuka.
But I don’t really use hammer on any character so it’s kind of a miss.
I think there were 6 episodes because there are 3 gathering tools. Each gather tool is used in 2 episodes:
Episode 1: MINE Blood Rubies
Episode 2: CHOP Petrified Wood
Episode 3: HARVEST Fresh Winterberries
Episode 4: MINE Jade Shards
Episode 5: CHOP Fire Orchids
Episode 6: HARVEST ???
Well Orr has always been known for its omnomberries. But it would be fitting to have like ambrosia or something since it’s the temples of the gods.
Precipice of Fate?
The lighting thing is something I’ve noticed when attempting to make dark cave/house areas in the guild halls. I’ve tried covering up everything and it’s still pretty bright. Would be nice to have a way to block the light with walls or something.
I can’t imagine that’s a simple thing to do from a design perspective though without severely messing up something or another.
If I’m not mistaken some areas of the guilded hollow always have a night skybox. I could be wrong though. And you usually have to kind of break out of the map to get the ones I’m thinking of which would be out of the way. I can imagine Lost Precipce would make an amazing Halloween town though!
Please in this next patch add some orrian architecture decorations, and maybe some foliage.
Ppllllleeeeeeeaaaaasseeee.
Every patch the thing I get most excited about is new decorations. I know I’m in a small minority but it’s the most fun thing for me making all of the new ones and setting up in the guild halls for others to enjoy. I’ve fully decorated for two guilds and spent a lot of time and money and it’s always been worth it knowing it’s an impact I can make on the game for someone else.
Some floors, ceilings, columns, arches. It is my favorite architecture in the game and would be an amazing addition to a rather underused and rarely updated feature.
Disappointed that it’s the25th since I’ll be off vacation by then but definitely excited that it’s Orr instead of another shiverpeaks map. It looks beautiful from the art.
It gives me the message when I enter wvw as if it’s going to remove it. But then it prompts me to accept the queue again. So.. apparently that won’t fix it.
I queued for a pvp match earlier and it bugged out and I’ve been stuck in queue for like 30 minutes now. As if the match is in progress. So I left and went to just do my fractal dailies but it just kicks me anytime I try to enter the fractal lobby.. It also just kicks me from the group I’m in.
Is this something that I can fix? I tried reclogging, and the game has restarted a couple times. But nothing seems to be getting me out of that match queue.
Went to check on north camp in Dragonbrand Borderlands and there was someone sitting up in the wall, no clue how they got up there, with a guild ballista. But when I went to destroy the ballista a Gold Champion dragonhunter showed up, can’t see the name, and fought me for a bit. Next thing I know I’m being pulled into the wall. I believe there is an engineer there as well, so it could have been a toolkit pull.
Is it about time the devs do something about these glitch pulls?
People are clearly abusing the collision in this game and it seems to be getting no recognition outside of advice on using a /stuck command.
I have another update to add:
Remove Swampland. The worst fractal of them all. Bloomhunger in tier 4 does way too much damage. Has way too much cc, and will repeatedly harass whoever is downed or trying to res the downed. It’s just a nuisance and too many damage sources.
Not sure how closely you’re following this thread, and I know this is a longshot, but I would love if we could deposit Tomes of Knowledge. I know they’re not really a crafting material, but for those of us overflowing with them that may want to either use them on new characters at some point or convert them to spirit shards, it would free up a bit of bank space.
I think July 18th or earlier is extremely optimistic. I’m still going with sometime after August 7th when the season ends. I don’t think they released this three week long competitive feature patch just to release living story two or three weeks after. I think they did it to keep people busy because it will be another month and a half until the story drops. I also doubt it will be two maps.
I expected this last episode to be longer than it was, so I won’t have the same expectation for the next one, even though it’s the final episode.
Then I imagine the expansion will release in January or February.
I’d love to be wrong and have it all be sooner, but I think these recent competitive patches were spaced out and timed during this month for a reason.
As far as what the patch involves. I was really thinking we wouldn’t get another Ember Bay themed map just because it was the same team, but we did. So it’s probably a good guess we’ll visit the Shiverpeaks again. We do have to finish up whatever is going on with Braham and Jormag, and all of the winter-themed stuff that’s been datamined or showed up in the gemstore leans towards this as well.
Would be interesting if we got somekind of half shiverpeaks/half blood legion homelands map in the far north.
Not sure about Taimi since she had such heavy involvement in the last one and we still have stuff with Braham and Rhytlock to cover., as well as catching up to do with Aurene.
Whatever happens, I imagine it will have to be something that brings the whole group together as everyone is somewhat split up right now.
Would really like to see another god unveil so that we know it isn’t just Balthazar who is taking the forefront due to a known feud he has within his own realm. Would create a lot more possibilities if it wasn’t just him being brought back into the picture.
Anyway, I like Bitterfrost minus the lackluster events, so I wouldn’t mind another Shiverpeaks area. Especially if it has more of the woods-y type areas with the forest and the springs than just snow and ice.
Still would also love to see more of the Verdant Cascades but I imagine that’s all being reserved for the future.
I can partially agree. I would like it better if they were doing like somekind of victory pose or a /flex or something.
But I can live with it. It’s nowhere near as insulting as certain servers emote spamming when they’ve steamrolled you 20 to 1.
Instead of accusing or complaining or whatever this thread is meant to be, download a freeware vid recording program and see what it causing you to bug out. It takes minutes to set up.
I’ve never seen this happen, but I’ve seen where it pulls you up in the air on uneven surfaces. It’s always better to watch video before accusing a whole server of abusing a bug nobody else has seen before. Because that’s what you’re doing. It’s a wuss Beta move imo.
lol I wonder what server you’re from.
And it hasn’t happened lately. It was just weird that it was three times in the same day when it’s never happened before. But it seems that they stack more Dragonhunters with pulls. Or perhaps it’s just one that happens to know where the spots are that can trap people. Who knows.
Nvm. LOL. Just pulled up the repair window. Guess it just took a second try.
It just did it in a fractal too. I’m not sure if I’m doing the repair process right. I created the shortcut and added the -repair at the end, and then double clicked it and all it did was pull up the login client. Then I logged in, hit play. But there wasn’t any downtime or saying that it was repairing.
On Blue side in ebg, when I move my camera at a certain angle usually aimed at one of the towers I get this image of a character’s texture map covering my screen to the point that I can’t even see where I’m walking. It’s only on this side and it just started this match-up.
If it’s a file thing on my end, I haven’t done anything within the last couple of days to have corrupted anything to the point that it’s showing this weird image.
I can’t even go to that side of the map because I can’t even see my character from the texture overlay.
What is going on? Why has this not happened before this match-up? Anyone else experiencing it or is it some file thing that went wrong in the last couple of days on my end?
Scratch that. It’s pretty much anything near Umberglade apparently. It happens when I have the cursor over Bravost as well.
Okay, actually, it’s just when the camera angle is pointed towards Durious Gulch in general.
Was dead outside Durious in EBG, rotated my camera a bit, and saw this image. Looks like it pulled one of the attackers texture map or something an overlayed it into the camera?
So strange….
As a maguuman, let me break this down to you.
1) Spawn camping, there are three exits. You can leave or swap maps. If you continue to run outside by yourself to feed participation it is your own fault.
2) Every server has awesome players, average players, and rallybots. You cannot say a server is more or less skilled. It also ebbs depending on timezone. I am ocx and mag does not dominate in ocx or sea, although we have lots of fun.
3) Every, server, would, do, the, same, thing, as, its, based, on, population, in, map.
If the game is not fun for you, why are you even playing.
In relation to being pulled by guards, only issues I have had has been being stuck in repaired walls so far.
If that question? was to me, I do have fun, just not when I’m getting pulled into walls incessantly and trapped. I do have fun when we aren’t outnumbered by a server that sends entire zergs chasing people the entire way across the map just because they’re bored at how easy the match up is for them this week.
But anyway. If I’m going to be yanked 20 yards every 2 seconds it would at least be nice to not be stuck in a wall and aoe’d to death.
Just happened a THIRD time, on the ramp outside of OW in ebg. Got pulled into the side of the mountain and stuck.
I don’t know if it’s the same person and they’ve done this before so they know where they need to be to cause the glitch or what. But this has NEVER happened before this week. Now three times in one day to this same server?
Something is up, and whether it’s this obnoxious pull crowd control or terrain needing better collision, but something needs to change.
I have 8 elemental swords in my bank from where it bugged out and didn’t give me a key instead.
I contacted support on one occasion but didn’t bother the other 7 times. lol
Didn’t have it happen with this batch though.
Twice today I have been pulled by a dragonhunter and trapped inside the map. Once inside a pillar at the ogre camp of EBG, and just now under a staircase in air keep.
Is this the secret to getting to tier 1?
In all seriousness though, this has never happened before this match-up. But perhaps it’s because Mag seems to be 80% dragonhunters with the same builds.
Actually I might have been thinking of timberline falls, not lornars.
