Could you take a closer look at some of the potted plant decorations. Many of them I’ve found to be way too small in comparison to their root decoration the basic shrub, and in comparison to the amount of materials it takes to make them.

One example is the Blue Orchid which is miniscule considering how many rare seeds you need. Another example is Djinn’s tongue, which isn’t as costly but still extremely small.

Would love for them to be more on the scale of the basic shrub or preferably the potted fan palm.

Potted gold fern is also extremely small.

Some other decorations that seem a bit off in scale are the elegant pillars that you use to make the festive arch. The arch itself is a great size, but the pillars that match are about half the size.

For the guild halls to be so large and the decoration cap to be so low currently, bigger is always better in my book!

Some other cons are the cost of the gems comparative to the cost it would take to craft similar decorations. Also, if they started doing this it might eventually cause them to shy away from creating in game obtainable recipes which I wouldn’t like. Though I like the idea in theory.

One thing I would love is an ability to make finishing kit bundles since you often need more than one kind. I think in general there are still way too many tabs to open and close in the ui. It gets hard to keep up with.

Perhaps a craftable decoration would be nice. I’d also really like it if they kind be created and sold on the trading post, or if the kits could be sold on the trading post.

And lastly, it really needs its own crafting material tab so bags aren’t bogged down with account bound junk.

Honestly, if they added way more decorations, made them a little more affordable, and allowed more to be placed in one area as well as raised the cap… there’s no reason you couldn’t build your own miniature guild hall inside of the already existing guild halls. They’re insanely huge and honestly could be turned into your guild’s own personal city with subdevelopments.

It used to be a visible wall up until a couple patches ago.

Guild Hall needs more activity

cptaylor.2670

Honestly, the biggest complaint I have with them is not only the small decoration cap considering the vast size of the guild halls, but the fact that decorations are hated behind scribing. And not only scribing, but 6 ui windows of various things you have to craft to make the one item you want. They changed scribing in a great way but it still needs to be adjusted for the decoration items. Trying to get one bouquet of balloons should not require you to open 10 tabs to craft one item. And that’s not even a good example. I really wish they would make the decorations more of a blueprint that you can unlock and purchase as many of the item as you want from the decoration vendor. Obviously the price would have to be adjusted accordingly since they apparently want these decorations to be a huge gold sink. But as of right now it takes hours and gold upon gold of materials just to make enough decorations to fill up an area. Add to that the fact that you have to make just the right decoration that matched your guildhall thematically. There also seem to be quite a few areas meant to be unlocked or added to later on if they haven’t been scrapped.

Shortbow needs more damage (or lower costs)

in Thief

Posted by: cptaylor.2670

cptaylor.2670

Shortbow could be made easily alot better, if the following things would get added/changed about this weapon:

  • Change one of the range related Traits to “Ricochet”, so that Pistols gain again a way to bouncing bullets, while the shortbow could profit from this trait by gettign an additional effect on Trick Shot, like that Trick Shot can steal Boons if bounced arrows hit a target twice and let that trait increase also the range of Shortbows and Pistols back to 1200, so that both weapons can be used also again better in defensive situations from hogher positions, aka in WvW

Change Clusterbomb to a much more powerful Condition Spreader that makes SENSE BY ITS EFFECT. Bleeding makes absolutely no sense..you shoot Explosives that you can let detonate on demand, these explosions should cause BURNING & Vunlerability, so that the Thief gets also access by this skill exclusively to Burning, making this skill more effectful for Condition Spreading, especially when combined with sigils that can cause additional conditions on hit/criticals

Choking Gas should cause Torment instead and poison additionally foes only, if they stay in the aoes longer than 2 seconds to give this skill more crow control functionallity that lead to the point, that you force your enemy to move away from the spot where the AoE effect is. The initial hit should cause also for a half second Daze.. its freaking CHOKING GAS..if something like that doesn’t interupt your current actions, then this skill needs a RENAME…

The skill that lets you evade attacks should get removed the back jump effect and simply let the thief gain that auto evade effect after shooting for several seconds instead. And it should become a skill that grants you stealth for 3 seconds to give this weapon more stealth gameplay synergy for when you are short before changing to an other weapon set, like D/D for example so that you can use SB better for stealth synergy to prepare a burst attack when you are about to change your weapon.

Infiltrators arrow should get a nice side effect to give this skill a bit more utility for the position to where you move to, infiltrators arrow should get the ability to deativate TRAPS that are nearby to the ground target, so if you move with this skil lto a spot and an enemy trap was nearby, then this trap wont do damage to you anymore.
This way would become the SB of the thief finally a nice counter weapon against all these trappers lately that we have now due to the dragonhunter.
If there is a class, that should be able to negate traps, then it has to be logically the Thief!! Masters of the Shadows, which infiltrate locations and know exactly how to detect traps and how to negate them without receiving any harm… they should be the logical counter to any trapping build with SB’s help.

I don’t agree with the trap portion of it simply because I don’t really find them to be that big of an issue unless there are multiple dragonhunters. If nothing else, it’s always fun to have scorpion wire to pull them out of their traps before they have a chance to pull you into them.

But the burning damage instead of bleeding would be great, at least for my power thief. Having that higher burst condition would certainly be better than lower longer lasting bleeding damage.

And the stealth bonus definitely. Pistol Pistol at least had a combo field that had good synergy with bountiful dodge and granting stealth on the fly. I’m really surprised shortbow doesn’t at least have a similar combo field effect. Possibly laying down a poison field and then bountiful dodging out of it and gaining 3 seconds of stealth like you do with pistol pistol 5.

Projectile combo finishers really need a rework anyway I think. Maybe we can get a replacement for one of the two projectile finishers.

I agree that we need more options. I would definitely enjoy it, and when you have to consider Asuran technology as well as weapons such as HOPE, it’s a welcomed addition. People seem to think that because this game isn’t StarCraft all of the gear should look like it came out of a medieval game.

Anyway, I’ll post a pic of the best combo I’ve found for my thief that’s somewhat futuristic. I went after this look to match HOPE. The chest and legs are Strider’s armor, with the rest of the pieces being a mixture of Aetherblade and Magitech armor, with the living season 1 heirloom vendor gas mask for my helmet.

I think it’s been stated that Moto will be around after SAB, but I don’t think we’ve had any commentary on the lack of ease for exchanging furniture coins in the guild hall. I’ve been stockpiling my furniture coins the last few days because of how annoying it is having to click so many times exchanging them. By the time the update hits and SAB is gone, I will probably have 1000+ furniture coins left. Will the option to exchange them at the guild hall decoration vendor still be there? Or do I have to go ahead and purchase them before I’m stuck with them until next April? And will this update create an easier way to exchange them so that I don’t have to break my mouse, my finger, and my will to live clicking for half an hour or more?

:-P

I still say that the bow is rather boring looking because it’s going to give you a transform on proc to tiger humanoid effect. I could be wrong, but I’m still leaning towards it.

Well at least we get a release date. Hopefully some teasers about all of the things coming with the patch, even if it’s a vague list of one sentence items. We already know about the ones they’ve announced. Here’s to hoping there are some surprise unannounced features planned.

And the more I thought about it, as disappointing as it is, with Super Adventure Box ending next Tuesday and the pvp season wrapping up it wouldn’t really be that farfetched to assume they want to add a week break in between those and the update. Hope I’m wrong, but pretty sure that’s been the plan.

And no need to go all, “I’m a paying customer,” “I demand..,” or general comments of malice. I’m not going to say I’m happy with this drought, but at least we’re getting SOME responses.

I do have to agree with some of the negative posts about there probably being nothing big planned that they haven’t already announced though, sadly.

Guild hall crystal

So it seems like we’re essentially turning into the chosen exalted or something? I have noticed the wings resemblance, or horns I guess too. It would be cool if Glint’s egg winds up coming to our guild hall and hatching with a big dragon perched on the crystal. But I imagine that’s farfetched.

I didn’t realize it was confirmed every 8 levels, but it makes me even more excited to get these last 3 levels in our guild!

I’ve always wondered about the mysterious cave from the personal story too.

Where did that cave lead? Because on the other side the only thing it would lead to would be the forsaken thicket, but there aren’t really any exalted ruins in that area other than the vale guardian platform. So where did that archway and door lead unless it was specifically to that podium?

Are we going to come across more exalted and use their help to fight Lazzarus the Dire in the next raid wing?

1. I’m sure there are lots of things they could do that wouldn’t add a huge effect in and of themselves but collectively create a more rich atmosphere.

2. Are you talking about player housing? While within the confines of a guild it would be much more manageable, but wouldn’t be entirely different than what they already are. If you REALLY wanted to there are plenty of spacious rooms in both guild halls that you could decorate and claim for your own. The one thing I would add would be more decorations including a bed, for sure. More guild hall specific themed decorations that aren’t gated behind scribe.

Would also add that it would be nice to place your home farmable nodes in the guild halls instead so they could get more use out of them and wouldn’t require you to go to your home instance.

Why or why not?

And the argument “its so easy to level!” doesn’t hold. WoW has the easiest leveling and yet they are the first ones to introduce buying a max level(to my knowledge).

You can already do that now.

  • Buy gems.
  • Convert to Gold
  • Go gw2crafts.net, from the TP, buy everything on the shopping list.
  • Use appropriate XP boosters (also on the TP).

It’s not “insta-80” (which is easy for veterans, with excess tomes of knowledge), but it gets the job done.

Not to mention how many tomes of knowledge you get from black lion chests if you just spent all of that money on keys.

I love the Arah guild hall idea. Would be great to see it returned at least somewhat to its former glory.

I’d even settle for somekind of Fractal with the city in the background and only a small part of it explorable.

Not sure about the other areas as I’m not a huge gw2 lore nerd.

I think if we do go to Cantha at some point we’re pretty much guaranteed to get a Cantha-themed guild hall.

At this point I just hope they keep adding things to the guild halls and making them more interactive. Give them a wider variety of affordable decorations and expand on what’s already existing to get it where they think they could mimic it in other areas.

Right now they’re just large pretty but empty zones that you can spend a fortune decorating and upgrading with not much use otherwise.

Would also be nice to get a new building or upgrade that allows a bank/trading post. The bank we already have with the scribing station so the only thing we would be missing would be the trading post which would be a highly welcomed thing considering how much stuff you have to buy and trade for the upgrades.

Really interested in seeing what they have planned with this Crystal too. If I remember right they hinted at the crystal being a pretty significant thing in the future they didn’t want to spoil.

Hopes for the Scribing Update

For recipes to not require you to have to have an excel spreadsheet or bubble chart to keep up with, like wanting to make one decoration and realizing you need 3 different things, each composed of 3 other things, which are made out of 3 other things, all needing an extremely large quantity of expensive or hard to come by mats.

I can kind of understand the logic they had when designing this profession, but it seems like they were really gearing this towards having one designated person in the guild doing this profession… in which they should have made it a permissions thing in guild ranking so that people could funnel everything they have to that one person. Otherwise, as a small guild or as an individual that just wants to make decorations for the guild hall, it just isn’t practical.

At the very least there needs to be a significant exp boost based on what you craft or how many mats it takes to make something. Like, 10 levels, not 1 or part of 1 level.

There really isn’t much I WOULDN’T change about the profession as it is right now. It would be nice if it were more in-line with other professions in terms of individual-hobby leveling. Especially since the things you make are gated by resonance anyway. (Another thing I don’t like about it.)

I think my biggest issue in general is just how hard, expensive, and how high of a skill level you need to make decorations.. especially given how expensive the decorations are to begin with.
