I imagine it will be a +power +condition damage with a 6 piece bonus granting guaranteed crits on ambush attacks or something, or extra conditions on ambush attacks.

Would be nice to have a superspeed bonus as the 3 piece. Can’t imagine they will give mirage cloak a longer duration as a 6 piece so not really considering that. Plus the ambush attacks would be a bonus to thieves I would imagine.

I can agree that it would have been better to have had it last longer, or simply been delivered as mail instead of an item you have to keep an eye on in the gemstore.

That being said, I’ve always had good experiences with customer service and support in terms of getting missing items or getting replacement items from glitched trading post transactions. Perhaps if you open a ticket they will do something? I mean it is just ONE chest and key, and if it’s like mine amounts to trading post express #301 and a transmutation charge, but I can understand the disappointment.

Have gone down 3 tiers since 12. I should probably stop, but I’d like to grind out the shards I need and honestly don’t really care in the end what my rating is.

But if you do care, I advise you not to enter ranked on Sunday. Wait until late at night or a weekday when school is in session.

Also, to all of the people tossing out homophobic slurs because I choose to represent my lgbt guild, thanks for the attention. Hope to see more of you in my matches so I can run pistol pistol thief or staff zerker ele.

I basically mained my thief for all of Heart of Thorns, but I think I might mix it up a bit this expansion.

I was going to main mirage but I’m hoping they make a few changes to it by release. If it stays the way it currently is I might just give all of my gear to my necro.

There’s aspects of each of the specs that I’ll want to explore and buildcraft for so at least at first I don’t think I’ll really have a main.

Depending on the collection achievements and story and everything else pve I’ll probably wind up maining whatever makes those goals easiest.

WP video for mirage is too misleading

I was pretty disappointed with it as well. He was fairy objective with some of the other specs but for mirage it just seemed like he kept reiterating that people just didn’t know how to play the class and that we just underestimated everything. If he were a Mesmer main instead of elementalist or engineer he might have had a little more to say about it. But I didn’t really expect him to trash talk it either so it isn’t that surprising. I think my biggest concern is that when someone like him with a lot more influence than one of us on a forum posts claims that they think the spec is in good condition, it keeps changes from being made. I think part of it was also the fact that he just wanted to get the video over with as he pushed it ahead of schedule due to complaints. Just not sure he understood why people were so passionate about wanting to hear his take on mirage.

On top of everything else it is surprising mirage doesn’t have more traited synergy with stealth considering the implication that we learned this spec by training with thieves.

Lol 5 seconds for Pulm impact. If you keep attacking when one of us are spamming headshot, you need to learn to get beat and learn.

I have never seen more than 2 pulm impacts on 1 person (i dont spam HS but I do do a 1-2 interrupt combo that doesnt usually interrupt both times)

I think this may be geared towards choking gas and how rapidly you gain poison stacks before you even have time to move off of choking gas. Combined potential immobilizes from sword or poisons.

Dragonhunter healing and sustain is pretty ridiculous but you have to completely trait into that playstyle and you can actually see a mild difference in the damage. It still does a lot for how much sustain it has, but for a really great burst against more bunker types you have to time your abilities really well to burst.

Daredevil however, is not something that needs to be nerfed. It does if played as a condi thief, but I don’t really think of a condi thief as a daredevil aside from the condi dodge spam. Daredevil staff is what first comes to mind for me and it’s far from viable unless you just happen to be really skilled at it. I absolutely agree that condi thief is a braindead easy spec to play and is way overdue. But that’s been said for months now and all it seemingly got was more buffs to condi playstyle. So, I guess the lesson is to never complain about any condition-focused spec because condition damage is clearly where Arenanet wants this game to lean towards.

Weaver -
Fun but needs some power damage buffs and a bit stronger barriers.
Sword in particular needs more power damage.
With stronger or more ways to build up barrier it might stand a chance in pvp without running some tank build that does even less damage.
Also attunement cooldown seems a bit too long and makes it clunky.
We’re glass and it isn’t hard to lock us down, so it would be nice to have more sustain.

Deadeye -
Possibly favorite. Wouldn’t change anything really.
Some of the traits are far more superior, but they provide difficult decisions which seem to balance things out.

Soulbeast -
Dagger is weak for power and the only way to get a lot of condi for viable dps seems to be to forgo survivability. But I don’t know much about condi ranger and favor power anyway.

Spellbreaker -
Lots of sustain, lots of damage. Daggers aren’t particularly powerful in themselves but the combos are. Full counter trait is insane but fairly fun. Could possibly use a second look at damage output but overall pretty balanced.

Scourge –
Insane damage. Instant death if anywhere close to a sand shroud with the shroud skill traits in other lines. Fun, but probably a little too powerful in competitive play. Like the damage in pve though.

Holosmith -
Also absurd damage, but no survivability. Full glass power or condi build. Loved it. Might need a bit of toning down but I’d love the damage to remain in pve. Great visuals and heat mechanic. High damage but low survivability.

Renegade -
Honestly the worst of them all. No survivability or mobility. Too many abilities that require stationary targets. The utility skills are… no words. Damage on shortbow is abysmal for seemingly condi and power. Would love more direct damage. Shortbow 2 animation is really lackluster and just looks like Ranger Longbow 2 but shorter.
Energy costs lock you out of pretty much every ability 2 seconds into a fight.

Firebrand -
Clunky tome system.
No survivability.
Mantras have insanely long charge time and don’t seem very useful.
Condi cleanse is a little lacking compared to Dragonhunter.
Condi output seems weaker than dragonhunter or core burn guard so it doesn’t seem like it will be great in pve or pvp.

Mirage -
Biggest disappointment for me by far as a Mesmer main.
Mirage mirrors don’t last long enough.
Window to use ambush doesn’t last long enough.
Much less survivability than chrono.
Condi cleanse requires the mantra and grandmaster trait, or running inspiration which forces you to use all of your clones and phantasms for shatters which defeats the theme of this spec.
Ambush attacks do next to nothing on most weapons
Jaunt has too low of range.
Axe 2 is pretty much suicide and isn’t as effective at clone generation as it wants to be.
Axe 3 has ported me in strange places at times, like on the bridge above somebody in Foefire. Could be a fun side effect but probably not what you were aiming for.
Greatsword ambush is the worst of all.
Would love higher power damage for ambush abilities and axe skills, as well as traits to make you not forced to be condition damage.
Infinite horizons trait should be baseline as I thought that trait was the entire purpose of this spec, but we actually have to trait into it? Really?
Clones are useless as they die pretty much immediately from cleave damage.

Will anything expressed in this thread actually be taken into consideration and lead to revisions with the specs? Or are we all just wasting our breath?

lol And then mirage emphasizes those weakness as well as creates new ones. Great “elite.”

Warrior sustain

in PvP

Posted by: cptaylor.2670

cptaylor.2670

I wonder if “Warlord” is bias at all.

Even if you run a mostly defensive build, warrior damage is still more power damage than some of the actual power builds, like melee thief for example.

Spellbreaker really puts this at an extreme. I enjoyed spellbreaker, but it’s clear the damage even with mostly defensive stats is still like you’re running a purely offensive build.

I’ve found warriors in most mmo’s to be this way though. They have ridiculous damage and high sustain because the theme of the class in general isn’t based around magic or anything interesting. So for compensation they wind up getting a ton of offensive and defensive capabilities that never seem to be balanced and just wind up making them king in a lot of player versus player modes.

I get that you’re in melee range putting you at risk, but so are guardians, thieves, and revs, and they don’t have nearly the amount of sustain that warriors have without sacrificing damage.

I’m terribly disappointed with Robert Gee this time. Chrono was innovative and new but mirage is simply a mixture of non-cohesive idea throw onto the word “Mirage”. And they dare say mirage is the first elite spec they come up with in stream.

Pretty easy to be first when the only two defining ideas you have about a spec are the word ‘mirage’ and some abstract concept art about a mirror.

Dev 1: “Oh, this looks cool. Think we can make the new Mesmer spec out of it? You know, Mirage.”
Dev 2: “Oh wow, that does look cool. Let’s hand it over to the artists.”
Artists: “Alright, I finished the spec. It looks awesome.”
Dev 1 and 2: “How does it play?”
Artists: “Oh, I don’t know. But the mirrors look cool!”

New pve testing on mirage

in Mesmer

Posted by: cptaylor.2670

cptaylor.2670

Not extensive, but I fought a few veteran stoneheads and TRIED to fight an elite wyvern, as well as a few other non-vet mobs.

The non-vet mobs died too quickly to really notice, but they have extremely low health in wvw anyway with basically no abilities.

The wyvern was pretty much impossible as I wasn’t traited for any survivability, and mirage has basically none without it.

Fighting the stoneheads went alright, but it took awhile. I was just running carrion that came with the gear.

Not very many condition stacks, but that could also be due to lack of expertise. I did get decent confusion stacks with axe fighting a veteran wyvern but it still didn’t seem to do that much damage due to confusion just not doing as much damage as bleeds in pve.

When fighting the stoneheads I didn’t have a difficult time staying alive but that’s due to their abilities not being complex or overly punishing. The stonehead ALWAYS went for me, not my clones. (So obviously the theme of mirage won’t do anything to help you in pve.)

I didn’t try axe against the stoneheads so I can’t speak much for those, but I did try sword which had a nice leap but dismal damage. I tried staff which had decent condi damage but relatively slow due to staff being a weaker pve weapon for Mesmer anyway.

I also tried Greatsword, and that was a complete joke. The ambush is absolute trash for greatsword most of all. But pretty much everything except scepter.

All in all, this spec seems like it’s going to rely on pistol bleeds just like core Mesmer. So nothing really adds to the condi pve perspective from this elite spec except perhaps if you trait for the bleeds on mirage cloak trait. Yippie.

It might be decent for mobility for a power burst shatter build. But nothing a chrono can’t do better, outside of jaunt for mobility or MAYBE being able to attack while dodging but that’s so situational it’s not worth giving up Continum, shield, precog well or well of eternity, or honestly gravity well.

I was really hoping there was something I was missing with this spec, but no matter what build I try, it just isn’t cutting it. It might be cool if you want a flashier core mes spec while still pretty much running everything you would be running with core mes, including most of the utilities.

So instead of a thief backstab, mirage gets a projectile that applies like 2 confusion, 1 torment, and does like 400 damage for pretty much every weapon. Wow, so awesome. Also, did my clones even do the ambush when traited? Because I really couldn’t notice a difference.

Elite specs review

cptaylor.2670

Weaver – Complicated and I don’t think I’ll ever be good at it in pvp, but really fun and visually appealing. Could probably use a power buff though. It seems like it wants to be a condi spec, but it doesn’t seem to put out nearly the condition damage that tempest can. At least from what I’ve seen. Power damage seems to be a little bit more depending on how you trait, but could still use a little bit of a boost for the new skills.

Firebrand – The new virtues are kind of confusing and clunky but very pretty to look at. I guess it’s mostly just a support spec? I found myself putting more burns out consistently with dragonhunter burn builds which is kind of disappointing. Wouldn’t have mind more sources of bleed but I haven’t fully tested this or even knew where to start to get the max I could out of it. It’s a lot to take in at once. Mantra charging is extremely slow, so definitely hope you don’t have to recharge them in the middle of a fight!

Soulbeast – good animations, and the condi damage seemed pretty good. I imagine there could be a decent power build with it as well with the right traits but it wasn’t the most exciting thing in the world. A lot of people were complaining that it was useless but I think this is really one of those specs that will take a lot of time of theorycrafting until we start seeing what the best combinations are.

Spellbreaker – crazy damage with full counter and decent damage with the right traits. An enjoyable addition to warrior, even if it’s a huge pain to fight and probably does a bit too much cleave damage to some other classes. Does the attack speed increase work on this? The one that increases if you have a mainhand weapon equipped in off-hand or whatever?

Scourge – insane condi damage and fun to play. Will most likely be my new wvw and possibly pvp main. Imagine some of the condi damage will get toned down at some point, but for right now it’s definitely fun. Seems like it has a lot of potential to be versatile, probably more so than Reaper.

Holosmith – not sure if the damage of it is intended but this will be amazing in pvp and raids I can imagine. It’s a nice departure from the tanky clunky scrapper spec that I could never really get used to. Definitely will encourage me to play my engineer more. Would be nice to have a little more options for some of the traits though. It doesn’t seem to have too much synergy with a lot of the different trait lines.

Renegade – played it once and realized that it seems like kind of a lost cause. I’m not a huge fan of condi rev and don’t have a whole lot of experience with it, so perhaps it could work with the right build? But with it not having any chill it doesn’t really work well with corruption. The energy costs are insanely high to the point that you’re locked out of abilities frequently. The spirits don’t seem very beneficial from what I experienced. And the portal skill looks cool but doesn’t last extremely long and requires someone to be standing still in a specific spot almost. Might be fun in wvw. Would also like to see this get a power buff. (Especially if there won’t be any chill added to it to benefit from corruption.) Needs a major energy cost overhaul at the least. I guess this is meant to be an offensive support spec, but does it do the job better than some of the other classes to warrant it having minimal direct damage and no synergy with condi trait lines?

Deadeye – Fun. Will definitely be interesting to try out when it goes live. I don’t think it will be the wvw killer that many proclaimed due to the stealth and position limitations, but I can see it being an excellent roamer if you know how to play it.

Mirage – huge disappointment for someone who was looking forward to maining Mesmer. It has potential and looks flashy, but so many of the traits and mechanics just don’t work well. Would really like axe to have a big power buff as an option to replace sword as the one and only power weapon outside of greatsword and pistol phantasm. Ambush attacks are barely noticeable. Greatsword ambush might as well not even exist. Staff and scepter are alright, but staff could probably even use some tweaking. I honestly didn’t mess around with sword ambush due to the cast time and the fact that as with every other ambush you have to stop whatever it is you’re doing and make sure you auto attack during the dismal window of opportunity you have. Clones get cleaved down by a spellbreaker for example before they’ve even had their first breath. The spec when advertised seemed like clones gaining mirage cloak was going to just be a part of the spec, not a grandmaster trait. Disappointing when you have to give up condi cleanse and run your average inspiration shatter build just for sustain. It seems like they made the spec out to be this deceiving new clone mechanic where your main source of defense is tricking your enemy into thinking you’re a clone. But instead we get clones that instantly die half the time, and awkward buggy random teleporting all over the place, which admittedly can be fun on occasion but doesn’t seem like what they intended. It’s condi output isn’t all that great, unless you take bleeds from mirage cloak, but that’s again giving up ambush attacks from clones so it seems like a loss either way.
Mirage mirrors don’t bother me too bad as they do other people, except the fact that they’re generally going to spawn somewhere I don’t want to be i.e. some giant aoe.
I highly suggest devs take a look at the Mesmer forums and see some of the things people have suggested, because this spec needs some serious revision before it goes live or else it’s just going to be shatter condi spam mes with a different dodge and not the clone-centric thief-like ambushing Mesmer it seemed they wanted it to be or advertised it to be.

I actually hadn’t thought about this but that would be perfect. If you’re in close range it’s the one ability that really sets you apart from your phantasms making you easy to pinpoint. And it’s your main method of clone generation, so if it gets interrupted that’s one less clone.

It certainly won’t fix everything that’s wrong with the spec, but it would be a huge help. Perhaps this and making the illusion benefit from mirage trait baseline, it would solve a majority of the issues with this spec. (Along with making ambush attacks actually do decent damage – for power and condi builds or at the very least more direct damage.)

Sadly, Holo and Scourge have turned out to be my favorite so far. But that’s probably because they both have insane damage. Holosmith is squishy though, so I hope they don’t nerf damage too much.

Scourge really only does insane damage if you’re standing near the shades. Then it’s kind of like playing against a condi shatter mes on steroids.

Chronophantasma was way deadlier than whatever this is. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

The whole point of this spec seems to be to keep clones alive, yet we pretty much have to shatter for heals and condi cleanse or we lose mirage ambush damage, which is a joke to begin with for most weapons.

Seriously, what class do you play? Deadeye? Mad because some Mesmer killed you while you were ganking people in the Mist arena?

Thoughts on Mirage

cptaylor.2670

I’ve been running a greatsword shatter burst build with mirage.

Just for jaunt and some extra evade.

So pretty much the same build I was running with Chrono, only ignoring the entire point of the elite spec because it’s pretty much pointless.

Ambush attacks are pretty useless on anything except scepter and maybe staff. It does next to nothing for greatsword.

I haven’t even had huge success with a condi build. Perhaps in pve, but in pvp my clones and phantasms don’t survive long enough to even put up that much condition damage, and unfortunately neither do I.

What’s the point in having this spec that is supposed to “trick the enemy into thinking you’re a clone” if 90% of the time your clones just instantly die from cleave damage. And axe 2 is kind of a dead giveaway that I’m not a clone, and using axe three as a combo doesn’t do any good when my clones are already dead.

I just don’t get the point of a majority of this spec other than to look flashy. Did they even test this spec in pvp? Or just on golemns and pve?

I’m glad I have a character that can use my Chuka, but I’m not really sure what to do with this spec.

cptaylor.2670

Honestly, disappointing, confusing, and was really hoping for a power option for this spec. But there won’t be one with greatsword ambush being pathetic.

I didn’t really notice what the sword ambush ability does because you have to cast it so fast after you gain mirage cloak due to ambush window being so short.

Staff and scepter seem like the only viable options. Axe was underwhelming.

This spec might be good for pvp, but it has so much less survivability than chrono it’s pretty much a much less efficient version of a burst shatter one shot build. I have much more fun bursting people down with my greatsword than whatever this mess is.

I suppose I should give it time, and I can always go back to the old spec, but it’s disappointing that we have this new elite spec and it seems like a weak glass condi build. Who would want to run this when you can run chronophantasma and be twice as good at pretty much everything.

In terms of what I would do to fix it, I would definitely at the very least make Infin Horizons baseline. Then perhaps give a trait that makes the ambush skill do more damage and the window in which you can use it last longer. Or give two strikes and keep the damage where it is.

Perhaps by the end of the day someone will come up with a build that actually works, but as it is right now it just seems inferior.

Instead of doing pro’s and con’s I’ll just list a few things and comments about them.

The map – Although I enjoy vertical maps and maps like Tangled Depths, I wasn’t disappointed by this map. I didn’t find it too flat. I did however find that there were very few events and not a ton of replayability. It’s not something I would go back to frequently other than just to roam around or explore once I have full mount masteries. Also, the map really wasn’t THAT Certain parts, sure, but I find Lake Doric a lot more flat than this map. And definitely Silverwastes with the exception of the jumping puzzle and Skritt area or the labrynth. Comparing it to Queensdale doesn’t really do it justice outside of comparing the excitement of the events perhaps. The events really were kind of lackluster.

The music – possibly my favorite so far and matched the scene perfectly.

The mount – was fun and neat animations. My only complaint as others have mentioned is that you can’t dismount while in the air. When mounts were mentioned and the rabbit was shown I was thinking we would be able to jump up on the rabbit, then glide and land somewhere if we wanted to. Could this be changed before launch? Just pressing the hot key again to dismount while in the air? It would give gliding a little something extra too since the new maps are missing things like updrafts and jumping mushrooms.

Masteries and hero points – Interesting beacon game. Didn’t mind it though I did have to get a piece of paper to keep track of the order. Reminds me of the old days playing Zelda and having to keep track of the puzzles in it. THE CHEF – And I put this in all caps because it is infuriating. The radius you have is too small, he moves too fast, and you have to throw far too many objects that you have to find scattered all over the kitchen. Not a great choice for an opening mastery point. It would be fine if it were cut down to like 5 throws. But I lost track of exactly how many ingredients I had to give him. I don’t know what he was cooking, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Unidentified gear – I actually liked this feature. I can understand wanting to sort it by rarity but I don’t find it necessary. The one thing I did dislike was the cost of having to identify it. It’s an extra little cost that is added onto salvaging it. And having to do the heart vendor first isn’t the most fun thing ever but I could live with it. Gives me a reason to go back and do hearts every now and then.

Material increase – I welcome it, personally. I don’t sit around and play on the trading post for my income though so I suppose that’s why I’m indifferent.

The story – Wasn’t the most exciting thing ever, but do you really expect it to be when it’s the very first chapter of the expansion. And not even a full chapter is it? It’s a demo and I’m sure there’s quite a bit missing. It didn’t bother me.

OH – Sorry, way over the limit I’m sure. The one thing I do want to mention is the constant filling up with random materials that seem like they should have a slot in the material storage.

I never won an insanely high amount of gold or anything. I came out even most of the time and gambled for like 30 minutes just to see how long I could keep it going. Finally wound up with 20 more gold, 0 ectos, and a supreme rune of holding. I really wish I had a lot more just to see some of the times from the biggest gamble. lol But it’s probably best just to wait and look at the wiki loot table results.

Economic Crash Foreseeable with PoF

They might add something else to the map that requires a larger spending of the trade contracts. Who knows. I don’t mind it though.

I did enjoy the gear identifier though. Out of the first 25 I identified I got 3 exotic warbeast? weapons or something. Pretty neat! None the next 3 times though so just lucky I guess.

Perhaps it’s just me, and the armor and mat stackable items are a great start, but it seems like there are a lot of random unknown crafting items and misc. non-junk items that require you to do something with them that cannot be deposited.

Other than that, yes the events were kind of spaced out without a whole lot to do, but I did enjoy exploring. Found a lot of hidden things and I imagine once we have all mount masteries there will be quite a bit more.

As to people talking about the “flatness” of the map, some areas are, but I’d say it’s a lot less flat than Silverwastes.

Didn’t have any issues with the raptor and camera as others have mentioned though it is a little hard to get used to steering at first.

Is there any indicator on a piece of armor if its been reforged or not?

This.

And am I wrong in assuming transmuting an object similarly disqualifies the item? If so I guess I should just start wearing outfits on all of my characters because you just never know.

Leave them ascended with selectable stats for all I care, just don’t invalidate a quarter of my gear sets for said selectable stats for a change I could have never seen coming.

I reforged my pvp armor because I choose the wrong stats now you are telling me that it will be upgradeable to legendary but only if you didn’t reforge?

That is truly kittenty.

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve reforged probably 1.5 sets of ardent glorious into standard ascended armor. I cried a little as I was making the recipes for the PvP versions.

Unfortunately, when you mystic forge an item, you’re getting a completely new item. The system doesn’t know that the new ascended piece used to be something else.

Backpack precursors still have a precursor tooltip making them identifiable though? Just really seems like a flawed system if all of this armor is now unusable and you can’t distinguish which pieces are which. Lost all excitement for this feature now….

Well this would have been great news, but finding out reformed or transmuted armor won’t be eligible defeats the purpose. I’ve reforged or transmuted probably 10 pieces of gear and have no idea which ones I did. So, if this patch doesn’t revert them back to the original piece I’m just s.o.l? Had I known they would become legendary I wouldn’t have, and I imagine a lot of people are in the same boat. Is it worth opening a ticket for or is it unlikely that I can get any of these reverted? Really going to suck having to to do all of that grinding over again between earning the ascended shards and crafting the grandmaster tokens on top of already making the gifts.

Can’t believe there isn’t a system in place to revert this armor back to the original……

Gliding and Territories in WvW

People complaining about gliding in this mode need to realize that it’s more of a convenience thing. It’s great in desert borderlands, but the collision is pretty strict in a lot of the other maps and you won’t really be able to get anywhere crazy.

To the people complaining about not being able to kill players with fall damage, does it really happen that often? Generally when I die to fall damage it’s by mistake… And I would gladly not repeat that mistake if I don’t have to. Even at that, if it’s far away from a keep or camp, it will probably be disabled anyway.

I’m sure this has been suggested or mentioned by somebody else, and I get that it wouldn’t make a whole lot of thematic sense…

But having the mistlock sanctuary anti-gravity ability in guild halls (togglable) would be pretty fun. Could certainly make for some even more interesting jumping puzzles!

Will this armor include the new upcoming stats from the expansion? Would love to test out the new combos. I assume if not they will be added when the expansion comes out at least?

Excellent news for someone who doesn’t raid but still wants the convenience of legendary armor. Thank you!

Now to figure out who all actually has the qualifying armor on my account and to complete the sets…. hmm. lol

A horse/dolyak drawn cart multiseater mount would be pretty cool for group events and stuff. Maybe have the engage attack be a volley of arrows or something.

I always wanted one of those Worgen caravan mounts in wow.

Pretty sure we will get a multi-seater at some point though, possibly with a mastery.

Other than that?

I would love a snake mount though I’m not sure what it’s movement ability would be. A giant Cobra! Possibly faster than the other mounts with a sprint ability?

Some mount with a stealth ability might be nice as well.

And last but not least, obviously a huge Charr tank. I mean, who wouldn’t one? A giant Charr tank rolling through the desert?

There’s so many directions they could go though.

Curious about mount functionality,

It seems to replace your weapon keys, at least one of them causes you to attack, presumably another activates a “special movement” option. Or it could just be jump, who knows? It’s definitely player controlled though.

From what I could tell the weapon key I saw on the streams was just the engaging attack button, like the raptor tail swipe.

But yeah, I imagine it would probably have to be player controlled from a systems perspective.

Kind of sad that it seems like it’s more of a condition spec as well. Love the playstyle of sword/sword and was really hoping for axe/axe power based spec.

But given how little we’ve seen I imagine there will be a power-variation of it, and at the very least there’s the new Grieving stat combo that will give a little taste of both. Certainly prefer it over the viper condi duration meta we have right now.

Honestly, it kind of seems like a lot of the new specs are pretty condition heavy, at least from what little I’ve seen. Was really hoping the condi meta would die down a little bit but it seems like it might be getting stronger.

At the very least though, the new stat combo should make condi a little more fun for those of us that don’t like to sacrifice larger numbers for damage over time. Even if precision and ferocity are still the minor stats.

And I am definitely looking forward to trying out greatsword with this new spec during the trial weekend.

Spider Mount?

Just said this in another thread, but can you imagine a spider mount with Oakheart’s Reach ability? Would be pretty awesome. Especially if combined with wall/cliff scaling.

I don’t have much to say about most of your post, but I am pretty curious about what they’re going to do for mount skins in the gem store.

I can definitely see them doing things like feathers for raptor and adding armor, but it will be interesting to see how far they push it.

I am highly disappointed they decided to scrap the spider mount they were considering though.

I kind of figured they were adding that as a future mastery at some point and Oakheart’s reach was kind of a predecessor for its mastery. Would certainly make for an interesting mount and something different than I’ve seen in any other mmo! Kind of wondering if it isn’t reversed and Oakheart is what we got from a scrapped idea for the spider mount.

Certainly curious at the very least what kind of other mounts they will potentially add with new masteries. I know they claimed they weren’t too keen on flying, but I can still see them potentially adding somekind of Gryphon mount or something at some point that at least has a temporary flying/gliding ability. And most likely an underwater mount at some point.
